[Q] Cyanogen 11 on S4 (sprint) not hanging up or ringing - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, I have this problem after upgrading from CM 10 to 11
I know this had been previously mentioned in another thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635758&page=2
My question is.. With all this unified thing going on with CM11 (no longer flashing to specific carriers) is it safe to flash the AT&T gsm rils setup to a sprint phone
Im posting here because I still do not have permission to post in development related forums (less than 10post)
Fixed:
In file manager
Open settings - ggeneral settings and set acces mode to root access
Search for "build.prop" in /
Edit "ro.telephony.ril.v3=newdrivercall" by adding a "U" to the end of the line in build.prop as follows
ro.telephony.ril.v3=newdrivercallU
Reboot and enjoy

CM7.1.0 STABLE FXP028 bug report

1'st sorry about posting in this thread but I don't have 10 post on my account.
Generally ROM is great, big thx to FXP team.
cannot use hidden network - I know that officially Android is not working with hidden network but with 2.1 stock ROM I had to enable "broadcast SSID" in my router before 1'st connection after that I disable "broadcast SSID" and WiFi worked.
pin to unlock network - it start appear after ROM instalation but thos can be connected with bootloader unlock
some info:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286191
some widgets are not working - for example "3D Digital Whether", if I choose to add widgets it's not showing on the list - maybe is not compatible with 2.3.x Android but I tried other similar widget also without success
I cannot set custom/sms/alar/other song - I had to copy files directly to system filesystem
some problems with charset encodings - it appear in some apps f.e. SpeedTest.net in square instead polish character "Ń" details in attachment
You don't post in the dev section unless you are developing something, so it's ok.
You need to have 10 posts, not posting 10 threads.

[ROM Release] Customized B928 (ICS Baseband - DSP Manager) By Moihack

Hello there guys!
Please Read:
From next week, I won't have much free time, so this is something like a goodbye thread to xda community. This is maybe one of the last mods(if not the last I upload). Of course I will visit the forums every once in a while but probably I won't have much free time available to mod ROMS. Anyway. Let's see the new ROM features
Special Notes - Please Read:
This ROM is based on Final Full B928 ICS Baseband as uploaded by Broxnitas here(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1793014) on xda and is using Official ICS Baseband(404029). Make perfectly sure that you have a working CWM backup, or that you have a copy of your GB amss.mbn file. Alternatively download this flashable CWM .zip that returns your phone back to GB Baseband from here(https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_kPUrNkk3T0QmRkTld5SFh5Vm8/edit?pli=1). If you use any GB based ROM while on ICS Baseband you won't have network access so keep that in mind. Also this ROM is as small as 170mb so you don't need to repartition your system by flashing step1 from official upgrade. Finally System Language is English. Change it like usual from settings(I disabled the annoying to me feature that adapts network's language).
Changes:
1) Removed lots of apps. As usual with my release, you only get a basic system. Install every app you want from PlayStore. This time Sync is perfectly working(tested it personally). Stock Browser is also there.
2) Added Volume Rocker Wake & Search Button Locks Screen
3) Updated hosts file. No more ads in free apps!
4) Added DSP Manager and Trebuchet Launcher (Official CM9 Apps)
5) Removed almost all media files (in order to save space) and disabled camera sounds.
6) Changed default CPU Governor to userspace. System seems more smooth in my opinion.
7) Added init.d (added battery and Wi-Fi network tweaks)
8) Using kamatozko boot.img for better multitasking & unlocked fps by default
9) Zipalign
10) Added Battery Percentage in status bar
11) Updated media_profiles.xml for better HD video recording quality
12) Slightly Jelly Bean themed (Added Default JB Wallpaper + Galaxy Nexus JB Boot Animation). Optionally you can also install Holo Locker from Play Store if you want a JB lockscreen.
Installation Instructions:
1) Copy ROM .zip file to your sd card
2) Boot into Recovery
3) Wipe data/factory reset
4) Advanced->Wipe Dalvik Cache
5) Install .zip from sd card
Reboot & Enjoy!
Note:
You may not need to do Wipe data/factory reset while in recovery in an attempt to keep your apps and not having to reinstall them. However, if ROM does not boot after installation complete, then this is probably the cause.
First Boot is gonna take a while. You'll even get bored But as long as you see the soft buttons light up, then everything went fine.

3G & data usage fix:
Only do the following if you want 3g & data plan internet usage.
Open /system/build.prop with a root explorer
change this line(number 100) from: ro.use_data_netmgrd=false to ro.use_data_netmgrd=true
I've changed this value when I was testing the ROM in order not to waste any money, since the phone gets the time from network and this costs me 1 euro!!!
Sorry for the inconvenience!
Hope you enjoy now!
Thanks To:
Giris for porting newest ics baseband to gb baseband
Broxnitas for the same reason + the actual ROM in which this mod is based on + GB amss.mbn flashable CWM .zip
eng.stk for his CM9 DSP Manager port
matt5eo for his Trebuchet Launcher mirror
kamatozko for modified boot.img
sr21 for Galaxy Nexus JB boot animation
Happy Flashing

However the last days, I so a couple of u8800-51 roms in pro android development. Check them out if you want.

3G signal works fine in my phone.
Maybe you didn't change mobile network settings, or you have low 3g signal in the region you live.
You can more easily control your mobile network's type by doing this:
*#*#4636#*#*
>Phone Information
>Set Preferred Network Type
if you see in network type saying HSPA than your are on 3G. If it says GPRS you are on 2G.
Choose WCDMA only if you only want 3g network.
For more information on networks, read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966172
Anyway,I just want to say that the ROM can use 3G. The problem is with your settings

....for me same problem...
I really don't know what is the cause of this.
Have you however see your network type in *#*#4636#*#* menu?
If it's HSPA it's 3g. Here it works ok. Maybe it also works ok for you also, but because framework-res.apk and systemui.apk are modded for battery percentage, maybe 3g icon in statubar somehow "broke".

I check network and it's UMTS but data network doesn't work... I'm at home, my son has the same operator and his phone has HSPA and data network are ok... may be this issue is because i didn't make wipe data/factory reset to not reinstall my apps (my previous rom is yours B927)... tomorrow i'll try to reinstall your ROM but first performing all wipe (data, factory reset, cache and cahce dalvik) and system format...
however thanks for your fantastic job (now i use your rom B927, perfect for me)
p.s.: excuse me for my horrible english....
si funciona en el u8800-51

@rankiao2330
this rom is not gonna work fully on u8800-51 unless someone ports it. I don't know how to do it, nor I have this phone to test the port.
@m.arun_kumar here is a flashable DSP .zip in the attachments

give it a shoot and tell me please
@quangcon1980 & @vispo60
glad your prob was fixed!
again sorry for the inconvenience, but seriously I can't stand losing money from little data usage(not even KB) because I haven't purchased a data plan. I just forgot to change this value in build.prop back to its original state.

Collection of fixes for CM12 and Liquid Smooth Lollipop

Heres a collection of issues people have had and the ways I've seen to fix them so far. This is just what I've gathered from the CM12 and Liquid Smooth threads to try and organize it all into one post. I will try to keep this updated everyday as users find fixes (Credit will be given where credit is due). Fixes for older builds will eventually be moved to the bottom of the post as they become obsolete.
These are not guaranteed fixes, but may be able to help! This is not a support thread! I am not a developer! If this post helps you, hit thanks! If this post linked to another post that helped, please hit thanks on that post also!
If you have a fix feel free to reply and let me know so I can add it to the OP!
I flashed the rom and I dont have root!

I would check out your APN settings first and foremost. You can get a data connection and not be able to send SMS with incorrect APN settings. If you haven't yet, it's worth searching the AICP thread to see if anyone else has had SMS issues.
For what its worth, you should try a third-party SMS app like hangouts or the numerous others just in case the stock messaging app has bugs.
I use my VS980 on AT&T and haven't had a single issue with SMS on lollipop so far.

Thanks @MarkusMcNugen, I restored my AICP backup so I could try your suggestions and get logs too. But after rebooting from the restoration I simply allowed roaming and didn't use the fix. I'm able to send now, so I think I'll just leave roaming on, the r is no problem and it's working.

Bump! Reviving this thread from the 5th page graveyard.
Since flashing the SD card fix I've been getting this error in twrp that says, E:Resource type (font) failed to load
Also in twrp manager it tells me it can't write properly to my SD card and wants to do a fix which will alter system. I always say no since I don't know what it plans to do. It still seems to work the same and twrp flashes and backs up fine, though I haven't tried restoring anything since this issue arose.
Anyone know anything about it?

In any case, after wiping, downgrading, unlocking the bootloader, upgrading and unlocking the bootloader again... I'm on MM 6.0.1 CQI2 build and CQL2 baseband. After a few days of re-installing all my old apps and setting up just about everything the way I wanted, I came to find out one of the few things that annoyed me about the new(er) touchwiz was the lack of infinite scrolling for both the home and app pages. A judicious application of Google-fu and I came across this info:

With Root access and a file manager you can enable infinite scrolling in MM. It's an old fix for other Samsung phones, but I confirmed it worked with mine. From the thread named above:
-Open up your file manager, in this case it's Root Explorer
-Enable R/W at the top (cannot be R/O)
-Go to /system/csc/feature.xml (hold down on feature.xml and open in text editor)
-Scroll down to the end (on my phone, the line we are looking for was the third or fourth from the bottom)
-Find the line that looks like this:
<Cscfeature_Launcher_DisabledPageRotation>true</
-Change "true" to "false" (without quotes). It should now read:
<Cscfeature_Launcher_DisabledPageRotation>false</
-Save changes and reboot

I don't know if anyone else has already verified this in the 910v section but I didn't see any threads/complaints about it when I searched either.

Oxygen OS, root, APN and the meaning of life

Hi All,
I appeal to you keepers of the knowledge to enlight me on some points I need to clarify.
The situation:
I recently bought an unbranded Oneplus 6T and I (still) use stock oxygen OS V9.0.17.
Since a couple of years I've been using a data-only plan with a VOIP SIP account as my main phone service. It was working great on my beloved almost-6-years-old Nexus 5 until I dropped it to it's death. I chose the 6T as replacement because it seemed a good option for rooting and custom ROMs.
My service provider is FIDO in Canada. They offer a very good value data-only plan (15$ CAD for 4GB), but for an UNKNOWN reason to me, with FIDO the SIP calls drop automatically if I use the default autoconfigured APN for LTE. The simple solution to that is to create a new empty APN config and fill it manually. Once done, SIP calls work like a charm (again, I don't know what causes this).
On my Nexus, I was running Android 8.0 which permitted me to modify the APN. But since Android 8.1 Google (don't be evil right) introduced the APN locking for participating providers. FIDO seems to be one of them since I cannot change any APN configuration on Oxygen OS 9.0.17. That renders my phone useless (unless I choose the 3G apn, which honestly sucks).
Now that you know a little bit about my life, here are my questions.
First thing I did:
I rooted my phone with Magisk 20.0 with the intention of modifying the /system/etc/apns-conf.xml and try changing the default FIDO APN configuration with the hope it would work.
I tried by many ways to modify it (using ADB, root browser, root explorer, solid explorer) and I couldn't change the content. Even worse, when I tried to change the permissions to the file to RW using root explorer, the file turned empty (0b) and it's still impossible to modify it (I tried editing it, deleting, replacing it, nothing works).
Question 1: The simplest of ways would be to be able to change the APN. Does anybody knows a trick (using root or not) to do that on stock OOS 9.0.17. Anybody ever tried changing apns-conf.xml?
Question 2: Did anybody succefylly edit system files onstock OOS 9.0.17 using root?
Question 2-A: Does anybody know why I break the file when I change the permission? I'd like to understand what's going on.
Another option that I am considering is using a custom ROM that disables this nonsense APN lock mechanism.
Question 3: Does anybody have a good ROM suggestion that is positively disabling this APN lock and that would allow me to change my APN with FIDO? (I was considering Lineage but I couldn't get a firm answer on the APN unlock capability).
I searched the web for many hours without success, I hope you can help me with this.
Thank you all for your insight.

Have you tried creating a new apn with the info and settings you need?

Yes! I tried that many times.
So, what happens is when you have an "APN locked SIM" inserted in the device, you have no access to any edit option. No editing, no adding, nothing. You are in view mode for the APN settings (which is useless really).
In my research I found that if you insert a "not APN locked SIM" you get acces to creating a new APN (and of course editing the actual SIM APN settings).
I happen to have a SIM card (my girlfriend's) that is not APN locked on hand. I tried a couple of times creating a new APN with the FIDO settings but when I inserted back the FIDO SIM my new APN was not in the list of options.
... I should have deepened my research! I failed at that...
What I didn't realize at the time is that when you create a new APN, Android defaults the MCC and MNC parameters with the values associated with the currently inserted SIM!!! I tought it was some kind of black magic settings used by the service provider for it's network to work. But not later than TODAY (I did more research today...) I learned that: MCC = Mobile Country Code and MNC = Mobile Network Code. ****!!!
Sooooo, all I had to do is create a new APN with my girlfriend's SIM inserted and set (along with all the other settings) the MCC and MNC to the values corresponding to FIDO config (which in the past I left as is since I didn't know what they were). Save. Shut down my device. Insert FIDO SIM, reboot, and fuc**ng VOILA!!! The newly created APN is now available and... wait for it... EDITABLE!!! So if I messed-up any setting I can change it and play around with everything like we did when Google was not Evil.
So here I am with my un-activated FIDO SIM and I can confirm that my newly created APN is selectable, but I cannot try a SIP call for now since I've closed my account. Tomorrow I'll get a new subscription & SIM and update this post. But I think this part is solved.
All that being said, Question 1 is partially answered to my greatest pleasure. But I'd still like to hear your experiences about modifying sytem files on OOS with root access.
