What? Are You asking if the ROMs can be used by MB525 (Defy) and MB526 (Defy+)?

If that is indeed what CostomROMs is asking, then the answer is yes. It used to be seperate ROMs for the Defy and Defy+ models, but since quite some time the ROMs are unified (at least the ones I know about). I would recommend Quarx CM11 ROM.

I'm still relatively new to all the custom flashing etc., but had a question about cm9 and the multiple versions for the froyo and gingerbread kernels.
Does that mean if you have a green lens defy, you should use a certain kernel? ideally wouldn't you want the newest kernel?
does cm7use froyo or gingerbread kernel?
why wouldn't cm9 use an ics kernel? is there an ics kernel?
I hope this isn't too silly a question.
thanks
it's complex but perhaps not complicated ;P

I quote from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353003 "Builds from the 7.Dec and after are made for gingerbread kernel (2.3.4 betas for defy and/or for 2.3.6 recent defy+)"
You should read that first post carefully because it has info about what the kernel-differences are between builds.
Also study the first 3 posts in this thread about CM9/ICS instructions and bugreports, has links to different kernels and info on kernel choice http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20097916#post20097916

Green-lens (SOC) camera has problem with some Kernels !!!
Some new Defy+ phones can not downgrade to 2.3.4 kernel so development of CM9/ICS nightlies is in separate branches.
To understand better read this:

CM7 is now "old" and made for FROYO kernel DEFY.
CM7.2 Nightlies are NEW and use both froyo and gingerbread kernel, so you must install a nightly build compatible with the kernel AND hardware you have. Variants are many, Defy greenlens, Defy redlens, Defy+ (redlens+bigger battery, no froyo-downgrade possibility etc because of locked moto-bootloader and Efuses )

For older defy phones cm9 builds after 7dec2011 uses 2.3.4 kernel
For new defy+ phones cm9 builds use 2.3.6 kernel
Kernels are NOT INCLUDED in (most?) CM9 Nightlies !

not silly ! it's all very confusing in the begining, and my answers are not 100% truth, because there are so many versions of defy/defy+ firm/soft/hard-ware etc so it's impossible to generalize, so for better understanding you have to study the forum and the guides more.
Have fun
i was wondering if i could try the latest CM9-NIGHTLY-120411-Defy+.zip(DEFY+ zip) on Defy running 4.04 (1204006)??
is it safe... what files will i need to use??? do i hv to try to the different kernel.. till now i had been using CM7 kernel...for my defy.

I am not sure, but previous versions by eppy, talking bout dec 2011 builds, were defy+ builds too and they worked on the normal defy. But I have forgotten, how or what was to do oO
I wouldn't try it, cause I am too afraid to do something wrong and brick. have you fully read through the CM9 thread? maybe there is kinda an answer.
Other possible problems, i thinnk can appeare are:
-Battery not loading, due to different battery properties
-Camera Problems
I would recommend, to wait these 2-3 days until a new defy build appears. This will be optimised for the "normal" defy.
I also heard people are experiencing problems with 1104 build...
You will have to flash the gingerbread kernel first (defy+ kernel) and afterwards you may have battery problems.
And if you have defy green lense your camera wont work.

Yup, as mentioned in this thread you can install in red lens defy after flashing the defy+/gb kernel but you also need a battery patch as the charge ratings are different for defy and defy+.

You may have to find the patch for battery first which works with DFP-231. Other than that, I don't think there should be any problem.
I only have a Defy Plus. So, can't test it.

I have a Defy, which flashed the DHT-25 rom and became Defy+ now.
As DHT-25 cannot be rooted, what I can do to install CM9 on it?
Is the CM9 not yet stable?
Thanks!

Anyone can help?
CM9 is still experimental... it is very good, but not stable.
If it it's compatible with your rom or your kernel, I don't know.

cm9 daily - 5-5-2012 is very good!
I've been uploading the dailys since 4-16 version. This last one (5/7/2010) is vastly improved over 4-16. the camera, tether and all features I've checked work (green lens) and the battery life is much improved. I like it so much I donated $10. Kudo guys for the great work!
Had CM9 on my Defy+ for two weeks, went back to 2.3.6 original Rom. too many glitches.
The worst was screen locking itself after a call, had to restart every time.
Defiantly will try future versions.
I'm a bit confused about "kernel" and does it mean SBF?
As I'm using a Defy, flashed a SBF to DHT-22 then upgraded to DHT-25 by OTA
what "kernel" I'm using? does it mean the SBF or the BL?
I saw some posts said that you need to flash "kernel" and there are 2.2 and 2.3 kernel. How can I identify the Kernel version? using the SBF or BL?
very confused!

If you have a defy then you can't recieve a dht 25 via ota.
but if it is a defy plus then you only you will recieve this update.
read this and this
btw if any where it is mentioned bootloader version(bl ver) then i am guessing its bl6 for you(dont have a defy to confirm and use search option on top for any other info

How do I find the BL version?
Want froyo we can get flash with the froyo version of cm9 with partial hwa
search forr the last rom you installed(stock one on forums by searching for "defy dht XXXX"replace XXXX by the version code in the name of the stock rom and you might find the bl version..
but as a random guess most 2.3.4 versions are bl6 while all 2.3.6 are bl7.
but thats just a guess..
what's the difference between Froyo CM9 and GB CM9?

there is no such big difference as far as i remember except few optimization(battery)
and few lines of code..
but froyo has large user base so will always be favoured by devs

Hello guys !
I have a Defy+ with BL7 and I want to install MIUI.
Is any solution to do it ?
Thanks
Accidentally clicked "thanks" :/
Check out XIUI, it's in the defy general section!
No problem
Why don't you try stable gb miui build that released recently.
