Does the Galaxy S5 have temperature and humidity sensors?
and if yes what app better to use them?

The temperature /humidity sensor on the S4 has been replaced with barometer, heart rate + fingerprint scanner on the S5.
There is a CPU temperature sensor but not an ambient one.

Note 2 Battery/CPU Temperature

I just noticed, coming from the S3 my N2 runs relatively cool. Battery temp is 27-38 degrees celcius even when playing graphic intensive games while tormenting. While the highest cpu temp I saw was 53. Compare this with my s3 battery temp 36-48 and cpu temp 60.
How about you guys?

Always cold and with full battery.
Our cpu made better than in S3. We can handle 1.8Ghz overclock with out any heating problems.

Absolutely. I had the note 1 and browsing the web or doing heavy use will burn the battery like blazing hot (50°C). I have yet to see my note 2 past 38°C no matter what I do.

mine with hardcore usage is cold as ice.
Exactly guys ! This is so optimized device, from any side.

But when I play heavy games like NFS or Asphalt 7 the upper part of the screen became hot? are you face the same issue?
secondly, can you tell me the name of application which is used to monitor the CPU temp?
thank you

Thats pretty normal since that is where the CPU/GPU is located.. Though what worries me is a LOT of heat is transmitted to the microSD.. I dont know but I believe it can significantly impact the over all life span of the microSD.

but it shows the battery temp only and doesn't show the CPU temp?
Could it be that you're using the note2 during the in the winter and the gs3 summer that the gs3 appears to run hotter?
I run the GN2 in summer here and it does appear to be warming up a bit, more then I'd like it to be (it feels warm in the hand)
my battery temp when on standby-surfing mode ranges from 32°C~36+°C and when I play games like Asphalt 7, etc. it ranges from 37°C~43°C...don't know if this is acceptable, but I feel hotness when I play games in my device...
Running on: SG Note II GT-N7100 w/ Perseus Kernel α31;Stock ROM-Rooted.

What should Average Temp be from Touching UI?

What do you think the average temperature should be for just moving around the UI on the Nexus 4?

depends on a lot of variables. battery temperature? cpu temperature? surface temperature? what temperature is around you? are you holding it tight? is it in a case of some kind? rubber case? is it set to the highest brightness? is it plugged in?
Lets say half brightness, not plugged in, and room temperature.

temperature of what? you can get two temperature readings from the nexus 4, battery and cpu.
cpu, whichever one causes the most heat on the back which I imagine is CPU

that could be either, lol. but their temperatures can vary greatly. the battery temp should be room temperature to 104F, but can go lower or higher depending. the cpu temperature should be 30-60C, but can also go lower or higher depending on use.

Temperature

Hi
I don't know if there is a other thread about this question, but here is my question. How hot does your cpu get with the Samsung Galaxy S5 Quad-core? Mine is usual from 45-57 Degree. Is this a good value or to high? Thanx for any help or comparison with your devices.

Yes there are existing threads about temperature (but few bother to search).
Your temperatures are normal. 35 - 45C here under light load. Perhaps 65C under heavy load. 85C in a semi-race condition e.g. a bootloop. Those with bunker type cases probably run a lot hotter due to the impared heat dissipation.
It would be great if Qualcom or Samsung gave us a real spec. But they don't. But we can compare to PC cpus and graphics processors that routinely run hotter than that, so I don't see any cause for concern.
.
Thanx now I'm ok again. I was thinking it's a little to high. Great forum and thanx for the speedy answer.
Just one more question. Do you like the S5 and do you think it's a better buy than a iPhone 5S?
My highest is 71C

Only 71C? I can tell you firsthand that the S5 will automatically shut down if you hit 100C. Accidentally messed up the thermal control settings for my kernel...

UV sensor issue

I found there is something wrong with my note 4 UV sensor. When I tested using *#0*# the UV sensor seems working OK, it gives the UV value around few hundreds.
However when I use S Health app the UV measurement always give 'low" result (no value) .
Is there something wrong with S health app or what?
How's your Note 4 UV sensor going so far?

At this time of the year, it'll probably be "low" depending on where you live. Does it correspond to your local weather stations UV report?

Hi, I just tested the sensor on my Note 4 and with a UV 395nm 3mm diode (30mA) next to it got a reading over 7,000
This shows that my sensor is working but need to calibrate it properly.
I suspect that measuring overall efficiency against a Si PD would work as these respond to both visible and UV light.
I have similar problems with the UV measurement

I had a N910F and now I have N910C and both have similar issue with the UV measurement.
The S-Health can measure and display only low UV radiation but when I face the sensor to the sun it does not give any measurement, other app gives an error message that UV sensor is not accessible (only when measuring high UV radiation). When I read the UV sensor directly (with an app) the numbers are rapidly changing from zero to the maximum of the UV measurement. The maximum number corresponds/proportional to the UV radiation.
I have a feeling that the app cannot handle the wide changes of the numbers.
The bigger problem is that this issue sometimes freezes the phone.
It would be crucial for me to be able to use the UV sensor as this was the main selling point for me.
UV measurement works fine on Gear S which has a reliable (Tizen) app for it (not S-health).
Do you know any reliable android app for displaying UV measurement? The raw number is enough for me. I don't need sophisticated design and health advice.

High temp always, shutting down big cores

Since 3 days am getting high temperature on my phone and also because of that lower cores are being shut down all the time. Temp doesn't go Below 40 degrees. Can anyone help. Stock with elementalx.

Is the phone body emitting heat?
That's really odd, did you over clock anything? I've never had that issue on my 6P even running a 200mhz OC. Does it happen at any particular time?

Nope. No OC. It's hot here in india. But i guess that's not the reason. Game's are lagging. Temp minimum is 39 goes upto 59.

That's still strange, I'm from Arizona here in the US (gets to over 49°C during the summer sometimes ) but since I'm in a cooler part of the country now I can't check to see if the outside temperature is the culprit. Do you have a case on it that holds the heat in rather than dissipating it?

Could I just ask you how did you manage to measure the CPU temperature? I was looking for a way to do it but it's either ROOT or CPU-Z which doesn't show temp in the background.
