[Q] Few questions - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've got a Verizon Note 3 SM-900A and I've been playing around with rooted stock rom for awhile and I'm looking for a change. What can you guys recommend? I've loved everything about cyanogen but there isn't anything when I google cyanogen on a non developer verizon note 3.

You won't find any cyanogenmod for retail note 3 as our bootloader is locked. If you are looking for an AOSP style rom check out Eclipse.
If you are looking for the most customizable rom for Verizon Note 3 check out AllianceRom.
We also have an S5 ported rom. If you like all the Samsung proprietary apps check out Jasmine Rom.
I am personally been on all 3 at one point or another but am currently sitting on Alliance for it's customization. I don't use any of Samsung's apps, I just like the hardware.

[Q] Verizon Note 3 Cyanogenmod Question

I am brand new to these boards and usually don't ask questions. I am pretty tech savvy but cannot code or anything like that. I don't mind rooting a phone and flashing a custom ROM. I am currently using the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon and love having pretty much stock android but the phone is starting to feel slow. I want to upgrade to the Note 3 because I love the hardware specs. However, I hate what Samsung did to it with TouchWiz. I don't really have time to debug or troubleshoot a ROM. My question revolves around the Cyanogenmod build for this phone. I read that they release a nightlie for it but when you go to the webpage its not listed as an available device. Does this mean that they are still working on an "official version"? I would like to get the phone as close to AOSP as possible and have it fully functional. I understand that all the Samsung stuff will be removed which I am fine with. This is probably basic to most of you but any guidance on what my best option would be greatly appreciated.
There are official nightlies, but only for the Developer Edition phone. The Verizon Retail version has a locked bootloader and can only flash ROMs with a stock kernel.
The DE (unlocked bootloader) is only available from Samsung, and is currently out of stock/backordered. EBay or Swappa are about the only way to come by one now.
what cam30era said.
If you want a full custom ROM that only functions correctly by using a custom kernel, you will need to buy a developer edition Note 3, not a retail device. This is a consequence of the fact that the VZW retail Note 3 has security protections that (have not been circumvented at this time and) prevent the booting of custom kernels.
It is my understanding that CM11 needs kernel features that are not present in the retail, stock (MI9, MJ7, or MJE) kernels. Whether this causes bootloops, UI framework crashes, or something more minor (loss of some functionality) I don't know.
My guess is there will be little motivation for CM11 to "officially" add the VZW Note 3 as long as it's secure boot locks remain un-hacked, as there aren't many dev-ed owners.

good luck
In my experience, most of the time, stock based ROMs run faster with better battery life over AOSP anyway.. but I've seen exceptions.

About CyanogenMod on Note 3?

Hello!
I will soon get Galaxy Note 3 and I'm thinking about installing CyanogenMod 11 on it. For a weeks CyanogenMod website is offline. so I could not get answers on their website/wiki/forums. Have anyone in this group installed CyanogenMod on their Note 3 and what do you think about it (stability, bugs, etc)? Also is there a way to get Note 3's S-pen apps and widget for CyanogenMod?
You cant install pen window or multitasking or any other note 3 apps but cm is very light Fast and it very easy to moddify it

CM 11 for Note 3 isn't as good for the particular model because you DON'T get any S-Pen features you get normally but it is way faster than the regular TW on the stock Note 3.
I recommend that you first root it and use the stock firmware for a couple of days/weeks and then if you find the stock firmware slower than you expected, flash the CM...
Cheers

[Q] Lolliwiz?

Hi everyone, I am not a developer, and I know this question is probably redundant, but I am wondering what is the closest you can get to stock android lollipop with the note 4 specific features. I understand roms are either based on stock android or touchwiz framework, and you have to pick one or the other, but I'm really torn, I have flashed 5.1 on both my S3 and S4 and I absolutely love it, I'm still waiting for the lollipop update from telstra for my stock note 4, but I think when it finally comes around I'm going to be disappointed that it's more touchwiz than lollipop. I guess my question is like I said before, how close can you get to stock lollipop but retain s pen, multi window, etc? Would it be possible to start out with a TW base and swap out all of the UI and apps for stock LP ones? I know I'm way oversimplifying it, I just really want the best of both worlds, I don't really want to root my note unless I can get as close as I can to stock lollipop with the note extras.

If you are not looking into rooting, I recommend Google Now Launcher. It is the most stock Android UI experience you can get on a nonnexus phone. Since it's just a launcher, you retain all your device features. If you are looking into swapping out all of the UI and apps from TW base to stock LP ones, however you will experience this error message everytime you exit out of an app: "Android.System.UI has stopped working", so I do not recommend that.

You're awnser lies amongst the rooted side flashing a tw rom that is aggressively debloated of apps even some essentials and using stock ones from google and then i guess theming the rom to look like a stock pure lollipop. I heard there are some nice alternatives for the spen usage and multiwindow i have tried some in the past on pure android on note 2 but the experience is nowhere near the stock apps from tw, regarding spen and multiwindow.

If you want to keep eveything, you will have to think about a launcher indeed. Goole Now Launcher will be the closest thing.
Google now launcher: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.launcher
I would say when rooted, flash CM12 official, and use CM SPen addon, in combination with notebuddy for you SPen features. You will only lose the multiwindow (links down below).
Spen Addon: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tushar.cmspen2
Notebuddy: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tushar.spen_helper
CM12 Official: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/orig-development/official-cm12-910f-910g-t3046965

yeah but you still lose the epic camera quality.
as much as i dislike touchwiz and like cm12 i keep running on stock rom becouse the camera quality on CM based roms is just to bad.
if only there was a way to get the camera quality on a cyanogenmod rom it would be so awesome i wouldnt even care about the spen anymore

Any Note7 port ROM that work with Verizon?

Hello Everyone,
I've tried almost every N7 port for Note 3 and non of them are compatible.
Not sure if anyone knows or have a way to make those International N7 work on our N900v.
Thanks.
I know that feeling, many roms to install and test but difficult to decide with which to stay
I'll just tell you what to look for
Roms with aroma installer
Installers for camera n3, n4, s5 to select the one you like
Be able to choose the variant of note 3 from aroma
Additional features
rom control
Emojin ..... etc
All or almost, n7 roms work quite well on the n900v, with 4g functions
Roms n7 I've tried phronesis aryamod darklord
There are many roms, just install one and test for a week or two, if you are happy in that time stay with that
see you
Have you flashed the AryaMod ROM? I use it as a daily on my N3 (vzw)

There you go bud
I've flashed the Darklord ROM for the Note 3 onto my Verizon Note 3, although I'm using T-Mobile now. My 4G LTE works fine and everything else, though I had to install some fixes found in the forum of that post. I choose the T-Mobile CSC instead of Verizon.

You've used phronesis? It looks like our Verizon n900v isn't supported. Do you know of a Verizon port?

Okay cool, thx. I use a Verizon sim so no go for me. I'll just wait for Arya s7 port to be fixed a little more.

Is there any plan to port miui 8 for our s7?

Hello guys...
Im just wondering if we're going to have amiui rom or not as the devs managed to port custom roms like aosp an LineageOS
Another question is why can we make miui rom based on stock tw as i see many phones got the rom based on tw like note 3' 4 '5 and s4' 5' 6.
last attempt was for note4
