Been back and forth from CM7 , stock, Powerwashed no problems. Until now! Long story short my computer will no longer recognize my phone. I know i need the Nexus drivers since I'm on CM7, So I install Android SDK, download the google drivers, can't even install them since it still doesn't recognize my phone. Odin doesnt work, I can't even go back to stock. What the HECK happened? Doing searches does nothing they all say to install SDK but that doesn't help.
EDIT: Now I'm really screwed, went into recovery and tried to flash the recovery I made when I first installed CM7, phone now won't boot it just goes to the Samsung screen and stays there. With the computer not seeing it I think I'm bricked for good
Grandpa had this same problem when he was well into his 90's. Ya just have to re-introduce them like they're strangers on every meet... posting in the Q&A section wouldn't hurt either.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271898
have you try enabling DEBUGING MODE under settings, applications, development? That usually helps my PC see the phone
Original Drivers?
OP stated his phone no longer boots, so enabling debugging is not an option now. Given that he's flashed a lot of ROMs, I'd suspect that is already enabled though it is very good advice for those who can get into their settings.
Since you can see the SAMSUNG logo, hopefully you can get it back.
I know you're running a different kernel, mods, etc... but have you tried downloading the original Fascinate drivers?
Here's one place I found them (if they don't work, just search the development forums for several links)
64bit: Drivers HERE --> http://www.wikifilez.com/root files/epic4g/usb_drivers_GalaxyS_x64.zip
32bit: Drivers HERE --> http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NZS8BF7E
1.) Launch ODIN
www.mediafire.com/download.php?73ta726ghelw381
2.) After that, pull the battery AND the SD Card
3.) Plug the cable into one of the back USB ports on your computer (make sure that USB port is working first by hooking up a mouse).
4.) Press (and hold) down the volume down button while connecting the USB cable and continue to hold it until you see a giant yellow triangle
5.) Look in ODIN for the yellow COM port to appear in Odin. If it appears, then you are good to go (jump below and flash back to stock first)
6.) If not, I'd highly recommend finding a friend with an android phone (another Fascinate would be best) and borrowing their USB cable as this sort of problem can easily be caused by a faulty cable. I've used the cable for an Incredible for my phone occasionally.
Once you get it recognized, I'd recommend flashing back to stock following the instructions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178544
After that, you can get back to custom ROM'ing.
I really hope you get it working, a bricked phone is frustrating.
---------- Post added at 09:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:57 AM ----------
Addendum:
Just a quick addendum to my last post... When going from a really messed up phone back to stock, I highly recommend only flashing via Odin. Do not use PST.
Since I don't have enough posts to reply in the development forum, here's a quick overview.
Download the zip file from the thread linked above, unzip it to get the CI500_VZW_ED05_FROYO_REL.tar.md5 file. Get the PIT file.
1.) Run ODIN
2.) press the PIT button and select the PIT file
3.) press the PDA button and select the tar.md5 file
4.) TRIPLE check that you've chosen PDA and NOT phone
5.) place a check in the reparition box (you will lose all your apps, sorry)
6.) press the START button and wait 5-10 minutes, the phone will automatically turn off once the flash is complete
8.) replace battery, and restart
wait about 4 minutes for the repartition to occur and the phone to boot
If you already knew this, I hope you're not offended!
Thanks and best of luck!
what the hell is Samsung doing? I did not update last time with broken firmware and I tried this time with kies.
Now the problem came again.. It only appears Downloading... Do not turn off target and in Kies , it says fail to convert into safe mode...
Now Tablet stayed at the screen with "Downloading ... Do not turn off target!!!" No any response!
-------------------------------------
BTW, I never rooted.
Update. Thank you for everyone in this post for response.
After google from internet, I found a solution.
1) first, after you had "Downloading ... Do not turn off target!!!" screen, Please do not panic ( I did when it happened and really said f*^@ word to Samsung..forgive me...).
2) Press power button + volume down, and hold until it turns off.
3) say "god bless me" or "Mom, please save me." and press whatever combination of buttons you can.
4) It suddenly reboot after that and please use OTA to update. not kies.
5) as far as I can tell, works fine now. However, connect to Kies with wifi does not work.
Were you on a custom rom prior or rooted? If so, did you reset your tab to factory before doing the OTA?
Get back in recovery and flash your back up. If it fails you will have to ODIN your rom in
No problems here using kies, I was only rooted though and I still have root
Do I have to be connected to a PC to get this update? Isn't wifi enough?
You can use wi-fi for OTA update. OP's issue is that even though the tablet went into Download mode, Kies still didn't think it is in download mode. The firmware update hasn't even started to push down to tablet yet.
Based on the earlier problems, you're better off using Kies. If it fails, like it did for OP, it's smart enough to know that and when you disconnect and reconnect the Tab it should automatically go in to emergency recovery mode. What happened to OP happens occasionally with Kies updates. A lot has to do with the PC it's running on and what else is running on that PC. Kies is far from perfect and I'm guessing OP's issue isn't with the new ROM it's with Kies.
I didn't get the update OTA, but just updated with Kies. Had to re-flash CWM and root, but everything works just fine.
Changing to another USB port solved the problem for me. The drivers for the download stage to the tablet could not been loaded for the port I was connected first.

exactly the same problem. no solution for me yet...
I repeat this: if you think Samsung's firmware and firmware updates are buggy, Kies is even worse.

Quite true. Kies is terrible. My Galaxy 10.1 wifi won't connect to it at all -- it just sits there attempting to connect. No indication of what's wrong, no log files, nothing. I wasted over an hour last night trying to figure out what was wrong -- removed all "ghost" USB devices, installed Intel INF driver updates, de-installed all active USB hubs & devices, etc.
I even updated Kies to 2.1 ... nothing. Very frustrating.
still no luck with upgrading with kies. it connects to tab, downloads the update to the pc,
the tab goes into download mode in order to install the update, and then connection between kies and tab is lost....
i have the latest kies, i have the drivers, i tried another usb port, i have done a factory reset, but still nothing.
Hello, I so hope someone can help. I just updated my galaxy tab 2 7 p113 to Android 4.0.4 UEBLH2. That was done automatically from samsung. I wanted to then install the newest update to 4.1.1 jellybean. So I downloaded it from this link. http://www.trickytweaks.com/update-...ecli4-4-1-1-jelly-bean-ota-test-firmware.html. I put the official Android 4.1.1 UEBLH2 Firmware on my sdcard then held down my power and up volume and installed it. HOWEVER, it never finished installing. Went all the way to the end. Now I HAVE NO USB CONNECTION and NO BOOT UP. Just black Since I dont have usb connection I cant us oden. CAN ANYBODY PLEASE HELP? I still can put files on my micro disk card and then put sd disk in my tab and use the power button up arrow to install something but I tried installing clockwork mod but that did not work. Iam out of ideas. P.S. My tab IS NOT ROOTED. I tried updating back to and original rom 4.04 I download but that did work. Thank you.
I think you need to enter the download mode volume down+power or recovery mode volume up+power to be able to restore the tab
Try multiple times close the tab even with long pressing power then try the button combinations (press both for multiple seconds) and release to see if you could enter any mode
If you reached download mode try flashing stock firmware for your tab specific model 3113 or 3110 or 3100 via odin (install kies and reboot before)
If you reached recovery (stock) then connect with kies and choose recover firmware from kies options (near the word file in top) you should have active internet connection
You could try charging tab even for some hours before trying button cobinations
If not try to return as not rooted so warranty is goood

Yup, this should get you going again. If you can get into download mode, you should be okay. That's what Odin needs.
Download mode is volume down plus power. Then volume up
Recovery mode is volume up plus power.
I want to thank both the posters on trying to help me. I did hold down the power and download button and it went in to the download mode. HOWEVER, since I can not access usb it did not do anything. Just kept saying downloading. As I mentioned in my first post I CAN ACCESS MY SD DISK FILES by doing the power up button thing. Thats the only way I can get files on. But the DOWNLOADING down arrow just does not do anything. hmmmmmmm will keep plugging away.
I can not understand how you can not access usb, is it a lacking driver so download kies and reboot and try connect again ,also try a different usb ports (esp the rear of case) of your computer
Was usb working before the problem?
do you have cwm or stock recovery?
If cwm so download cm10 or cm9 from www.teamhacksung.org and put in usb card and flash but do a cash delete and dalvik delete afterwards not for boot loop
If stock so try stock firmware from www.samfirmware.com (register their first) and put in sd card and try to flash

I think you're misunderstanding download mode. When you get the device in download mode, connect it then to the computer, with Odin open. The only reason Odin wouldn't recognize it would be a driver issue. In that case, do as the previous poster stated. When you're in download mode, you're strictly flashing through Odin. You aren't going to see the device as a storage device on the computer. The only way your computer can interact with it at this point is Odin. Via Odin, flash the proper p3113 firmware file from sammobile/samfirmware (will be a large 600mb+ file). Once that's done, you should then be back to completely stock and healthy recovery and ROM. Reboot tab and see what happens. If it boots, and you still want to update, then make sure you get the correct ota for the base file you just flashed (that is, if you're trying to upgrade to say Jellybean). If you need more help always ask, but you should be fine. If I lived nearby I'd do it for you.
All I can say is unbelievable help here! Thank you. I am spending hours on this (plus a fortune on this new Tab 2 7). After studying up I do now understand how Odin works and how grabbing the correct firmware will do the job. HOWEVER (maybe others come across this huge roadblock) nothing can be done with out usb interaction. I DID DOWNLOAD KIES and installed it. But no matter what I do can not get any storage device listed or anything going on between tab and computer. Only thing my Tab does is when I plug it in to the computer via usb is go in to charging mode with the charging icon showing. Loading Odin does not show any connection. I have tried different computer USB plugins, 3 different computers (all I have loaded Kies on). Iam sooooooo close. If only while in the POWER BUTTON DOWN ARROW DOWNLOAD MODE and running ODIN on my computer there would be a connection I would be home free and able to flash firmware.

Once you are in download mode, connect your tab to the computer with the usb connection.....you should see a com xx number pop up in Odin in yellow reporting your device is connected thru a communication port. From there you will be able to choose the file you want as a PDA uncheck everything else...reboot...reset timer....whatever. Just make sure you have the correct firmware. There is a Odin flashback to Stock rom in the development section. Make sure it's for your device. Once you start Odin, should take about 4 mins...disconnect and hold the power button down to reboot. That's it....
Hello Everyone Again, I just want to say thank you for all of you who took the time to help. I hopefully will become knowledgeable enough to help people in the forums as I gain knowledge. I finally did find the solution. I did everything that was mentioned. And no matter what what I did with KIES drivers Samsung usb drivers, etc could not get a connection so I could us Odin to keep me back to the orgiginal 800 mb 4.04 original file. My solution was (as mentioned) I deleted all my windows drivers dealing with usb, kies, etc. Then rebooted. I notice even though I did not have a direct usb connection showing up now Odin was showing a connection! So using Odin I got to restore everything and now back to like new. Lesson learned. Hope this helps others that almost fatally brick their tablets. Thanks again for all our help

Is there any way to save my tablet if there is NO firmware out?
Im talking about the SCH I705, I followed the root guide, and it got ****ed up.
Unable to boot into recovery (it goes to Odin "could not do normal boot.")
Tablet seems unresponsive sometimes (to power on/off)
Will boot cycle occasionally

You have to reflash your tablet using ODIN. It's not that hard. Just follow the second method here (you don't need to download android SDK)
copy this in your navigator bar : rootzwiki . com/topic/37272-verizonsch-i705-root-for-all-current-firmware/ ( delete space around the dot)
Plus, your tab will be rooted.
You're welcome.
P.S : This limitation of URL is annoying as hell.
I tried searching, but it appears to be broken most of the day today. I did try searching page by page, but didn't get any results.
My brand-new S4 is softbricked apparently. From stock, two night ago, I rooted the phone based on this guide.
I then installed GooManager and installed the TWRP 2.3.6.1 recovery manager. All seemed fine. I was going to install a custom ROM, but decided to back up the phone first. So I booted to recovery and made a backup. I rebooted and all was fine. Then I rebooted to recovery to wipe the phone. I went into the wipe menu and selected Delvik Cache, and a couple more options but I can't remember which. I know I did have USB-OTS (or whatever it is) and that didn't work, so I undid that. I did not have SD Card selected.
The backup appeared to work fine. I rebooted and the phone gets to the "Samsung" screen with the small lock that says, "Custom" under it. That's as far as it gets.
I found this thread to restore the stock. However, when I tried to connect the phone in Odin mode, it will not recognize the phone. The PC recognizes the phone (it makes the noise) and Kies sees the phone, but won't do anything with it. It detects that a phone is connected and tries to identify the device, but can't.
The PC detects my wife's S4 just fine. I'm using the same cable.
BTW, if I try to boot to recovery mode, I get the Samsung lock screen (the same one it hangs up on), then a black screen for a few seconds. Then it goes back to the Samsung lock screen and just sits there. Oh. BTW, the phone does appear to go into download mode just fine. Hitting the Vol Dn button to cancel, does reboot the phone.
So I'm looking for help trying to get Odin to detect the phone. Any suggestions?
BTW, the phone will enter download mode just fine and the Vol Dn button does work to reboot the phone (though it still locks up during the boot sequence).

Try opening taskmanager in windows ( run >taskmgr ) and before you plug the phone into
usb on your computer end the KIES process in task manager, Kies should not be running
when you plug the usb from phone to computer.
What I have done a long time ago is to uninstall KIES as well as all the samsung usb drivers,
then I downloaded and installed the official Samsung usb drivers from here: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...ng_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_v1.5.14.0.exe
after doing that I have never had any more issues with Odin flashing.
Good luck!

Kies is not running in the background. I couldn't get either phone to be recognized by Win7 originally. However, once I uninstalled the driver and Kies, rebooted and re-installed both, I could get Kies and Windows to see the phones. BTW, Linux always sees both phones.
So I'll try your suggestion, and let you know.
I followed your suggestions. I uninstalled the drivers and Kies. Reboot and install drivers. I connected my phone and Odin didn't see it. I connected my wife's phone and windows did the "new hardware found" thing and installed the drivers. As soon as that was done, Odin recognized her phone. I unplugged her phone and plugged mine in and it doesn't see it.
It's almost like the phone doesn't get far enough into the boot process for the computer to recognize anything. It hasn't booted far enough, or something like that.

And you are sure it didn't self update on it's own to mf3? Your Odin and drivers seem right, however kies/Odin don't support mf3.

If you're still on MDL and can get into recovery, Mount to usb and throw a ROM onto your internal; or use a sdcard and put it in your phone and flash a new system. Possibility your nandroid is broken, it can happen.

I don't think so. Every time the update message came up, I just hit the home screen button to go away from it. I don't see how it could have.
I was under the impression that it wouldn't update if the phone was rooted, but maybe I'm wrong about that.
I guess, if it did update, I'm completely screwed, right?
And is there anyway I can find out if it did update?

Only way it won't update to MF3 If you already had a custom rom on it , but if you rooted it while on MDL and didn't flash a custom rom then update will go in automatically!
Damnit. That sucks.
I guess I'll try the BB restore method. Hopefully, it will work. Thanks for the help all.
Well, good news and bad news.
The good news is that I've got the phone back to stock MDL!!!! <whew!> The bad news is that I'm an idiot.
Where I screwed up was that when I connected the phone, I had only done the VolDn, Home and Power button into download mode. What I didn't do was hit the VolUp from that screen to actually get into download mode. As soon as I did that, Odin recognized it. I was then able to use this method to reflash it with stock MDL. Now I'm back to stock and with MDL.
Hopefully, this if somebody else forgets this important step, this thread will help them.
Thanks to everybody for the help though! It got my mind thinking the right way to find the solution.

You can only stop the update temporarily, in fact just pressing the home screen doesn't stop the process and it'll eventually force update even with the screen off at idle. Just a root won't stop the updating, unless you froze the necessary processes or flashed a different ROM and framework it'll find a way to update.

I'm very worried about that now. I rooted my wife's phone. She doesn't want a custom ROM. I told her not to update it, but once it does, I have problems. I have to figure out which processes to freeze to prevent the update apparently before it tries to do it itself. At least she knows not to manually update it.
I found the stuff I needed to do to block the update on my wife's phone. All is good.
so i went through the steps indicated in the XDA thread linked below, and having done this before with my other samsung (s4) the steps seemed familiar enough... except that after flashing the boot image with ODIN, instead of rebooting the phone gives me the following error message:
"Bootloader exception
RST_STAT = 0x10000000
....more stuff here....
Exception: do_handler_sync: unkown (esr: 0x2000000=
....now the phone only boots up to the point where it shows that error message! it doesn´t even switch off... all i can do is reboot with the vol down + home+ power combo but then i return to that screen...
is the phone bricked for good or is there a way out of this?
Thx

Are you able to get into download mode? By pressing volume down+power+home button? If yes then flashing latest stock firmware using odin may help you to overcome this issue..Or you can try samaung smart switch application on your pc and emergency recovery software can be done..If you need any help regarding this two..You can ask
your problem will be solved if you manage to put in download mode and flash stock firmware with odin, if any error occurs during flash you may need to use pit file
The problem is that right now i cannot get back into download mode... I cannot even switch the device off!!!
All i can do is reboot in the download mode (down+home+power) but instead of going into download mode it immediately displays the same message i wrote above...
Seems like a boot loop only working in download mode... Ive been reading around but cannot get any similar error message...
@DroidHackeR - i assume that to use samsung smartswitch i still would need to into dowload mode, if not fully boot the mobile right?
8 month old guide... a little bit outdated..
I have a question... Did you update the phone to Android 7 AKA Nougat?
If that's true you just did the wrong thing to attempt a Downgrade which usually ends pretty bad in newer phones.
swith off your phone and plug usb in,does windows recognize the phone? or a modem or something?

If Re-partition is ticked he most likely wont be able to power up at all.... most likely that the bootloader he flashed is older than the one that was on the phone...

I think that a last ditch chance would be disconnecting the battery of the phone and reattach it(Opening back cover = No longer water-resistant) or wait for it to shutdown due lack of charge and then try to start it in download mode...
Right... The phone was obviously not upgraded to nougat (the whole point in my trying this in the first place)... The thing is, although the guide is old i saw recent posts from people rooting with this method...
I have no choice but to wait and see if after the battery runs out anything will change, but i song have a good feeling about it... Damn...
flashing wrong bootloader will make your device turn to an expensive stone paper weigh. if your device is not 930x... then that is what happen to it.
the bootloader was the right one (at least it was intended for my model) - god knows what happened, as i´m not exactly new to this and have never had a single issue before...
anyways, more to the point: after battery discharging it seems to be going back into download mode - now what do you recommend? i am downloading an original rom from sammobile, should i just flash that with odin? i´m not so sure anymore which bootloader i should attempt to download :/
EDIT: so after flashing the ROM from sammobile everything seems to be back on track... looks like i dodged a bullet this time, but it was out of purely dumb luck :/
thanks to all for your feedback, much appreciated!
