Root attempt went bad - little help needed :) - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

so i went through the steps indicated in the XDA thread linked below, and having done this before with my other samsung (s4) the steps seemed familiar enough... except that after flashing the boot image with ODIN, instead of rebooting the phone gives me the following error message:
"Bootloader exception
RST_STAT = 0x10000000
....more stuff here....
Exception: do_handler_sync: unkown (esr: 0x2000000=
....now the phone only boots up to the point where it shows that error message! it doesn´t even switch off... all i can do is reboot with the vol down + home+ power combo but then i return to that screen...
is the phone bricked for good or is there a way out of this?
Thx

Are you able to get into download mode? By pressing volume down+power+home button? If yes then flashing latest stock firmware using odin may help you to overcome this issue..Or you can try samaung smart switch application on your pc and emergency recovery software can be done..If you need any help regarding this two..You can ask

your problem will be solved if you manage to put in download mode and flash stock firmware with odin, if any error occurs during flash you may need to use pit file

The problem is that right now i cannot get back into download mode... I cannot even switch the device off!!!
All i can do is reboot in the download mode (down+home+power) but instead of going into download mode it immediately displays the same message i wrote above...
Seems like a boot loop only working in download mode... Ive been reading around but cannot get any similar error message...
@DroidHackeR - i assume that to use samsung smartswitch i still would need to into dowload mode, if not fully boot the mobile right?

8 month old guide... a little bit outdated..
I have a question... Did you update the phone to Android 7 AKA Nougat?
If that's true you just did the wrong thing to attempt a Downgrade which usually ends pretty bad in newer phones.

swith off your phone and plug usb in,does windows recognize the phone? or a modem or something?

If Re-partition is ticked he most likely wont be able to power up at all.... most likely that the bootloader he flashed is older than the one that was on the phone...

I think that a last ditch chance would be disconnecting the battery of the phone and reattach it(Opening back cover = No longer water-resistant) or wait for it to shutdown due lack of charge and then try to start it in download mode...

Right... The phone was obviously not upgraded to nougat (the whole point in my trying this in the first place)... The thing is, although the guide is old i saw recent posts from people rooting with this method...
I have no choice but to wait and see if after the battery runs out anything will change, but i song have a good feeling about it... Damn...

flashing wrong bootloader will make your device turn to an expensive stone paper weigh. if your device is not 930x... then that is what happen to it.

the bootloader was the right one (at least it was intended for my model) - god knows what happened, as i´m not exactly new to this and have never had a single issue before...
anyways, more to the point: after battery discharging it seems to be going back into download mode - now what do you recommend? i am downloading an original rom from sammobile, should i just flash that with odin? i´m not so sure anymore which bootloader i should attempt to download :/
EDIT: so after flashing the ROM from sammobile everything seems to be back on track... looks like i dodged a bullet this time, but it was out of purely dumb luck :/
thanks to all for your feedback, much appreciated!

Honestly i have no idea what you can do, but trying to eliminate some of the cases..

did your phone totally bricked when you did it? or you can still go to the download mode?
cause mine is totally can't on.
Do you have the LG bootlogo coming up, if so try this:
(Something similar happened to mine, and I hope this will help.)\
Turn off phone, then when off, hold down power and volume down button until it reaches the LG logo and then release and hold it down again, if that doesn't work, when just hold it down until you see a screen that says something like: Hard reset/ factory reset. For me it took me to my recovery screen, where I just flashed a older ROM onto it, and you should be fine. I then later flashed a recovery file. I hope this helps, and if you need it any clearer, just reply :fingers-crossed:
If it's saying usb not recongized I'd recommend installing the proper drivers for your specific model. Which model do you have since you didn't specifying? Also, dead or charged your phone should boot download mode with volume up being held and plugging the phone in via usb to your computer.

If it's Verizon, follow that posted method above correctly. Check for correct com port numbers and make sure replacing the dll file your in the c: drive and not just in your download folder.

I have the D802, I already installed the drivers.
If I'm going to go to download mode, It says USB not Recognized and my phone is completely off.
I don't have too much experience with that model so hopefully someone else spying has more information. Sorry buddy.
There is no bootlogo at all? Not even when you turn it on? Try plugging it into a wall charger and if anything happens, also try changing your COM # to 41, if it isn't its Device Manager<Ports (COM & LPT), right click< properties< port settings< advanced..< COM 41, this was from this article I will link right here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142

[Help asap] Galaxy tab 4 stuck in Odin/recovery mode.

I tried going on Reddit, but they never answered my question so I thought you guys could help me out.
So, I just got my tablet today, and this was my second time ever flashing anything. I tried to flash it via Odin. Didn't work. Ended up getting stuck on the download screen on the tablet and the program wasn't really doing anything on my computer, so I figured it froze and I disconnected the tablet from the computer. I rebooted the tablet. It ended up booting into the recovery screen. It says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies, and try again." So I figured I would try it. I downloaded Kies 3, and connected the device. No success. Said the device isn't supported in Kies 3. So I downloaded just regular Kies, and connected the tablet. It connects and disconnects about 3 times and then it will attempt to make a connection forever with no success. I just don't know what to do and need help. I can kik, skype, message you, whatever will help me unbrick this stupid tablet. lol. Also, I can't go into download mode, so I can't stockrom it I don't think
Could you guys help me out? It'd be much appreciated. Thank you.
PS: I can't even ****ing get Odin to even recognize that the device is even there.

Try this and get back to us.
While booted and while it's in the bootloop hold volume up, home and power until it turns off. DO NOT let those buttons go when this happens. Keep holding them all until the first splash screen(Tab 4 or whatever it says) appears again. As soon as you see that, let go of the power button while continuing to hold vol up and home.
A second or two after letting go of power you should see recovery mode. If you can get there, update the thread.
Also, you may need to reinstall the USB drivers. They are a real pain and when I have soft bricked my devices in past I found I had to install them over and over.
Good luck!
FYI, Kies is utter trash. I have never had success with it. Ever. Not even one single time with my Tab 3, Tab 4, S3 or Note 2.
---------- Post added at 11:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:43 PM ----------
BTW, I suppose I should be telling you how to get into download mode. It would be easier for you to just flash a stock rom for your device.
So while your tablet is in the bootloop repeat the above steps cept instead of holding VOL UP, you hold VOL DOWN and do everything else the same.
Hopefully you will be prompted to hit volume up to get into download mode. If so, you should be set.
At that point you would get open Odin and flash the stock firmware for your device.
Remember you may need to reinstall the USB drivers a few times and this important, while installing them make sure your tablet is NOT plugged in. When they are done installing, then you plug your device in.
I hope I haven't confused you. =-}

Phone Doesn't turn on

Hi,
I was using CM13 based Nuclea OS. Tried to Lock the bootloader using the tool provided in this forum. But after that, the phone kep on starting on and off continuously and showing only Zuk Z1 logo after each boot. Then I pressed Vol UP + Vol Down + Power button for some time and the phone switched off. Now I am not able to switch it on. Tried by holding all 3 buttons and power button alone as well. Battery was 90% when I did this. Any clue?
Thanks,
Sarin
Somehow I turned the phone on (tried multiple key combinations and one of them worked). But now the Phone is in a boot loop again, ie. The Logo and 'Powered by Android' message appears after a vibration and then it switches off. This is being coontinued for the past 8 hours.

Fastboot was not detecting the phone as it's restarting continuously. Some how I switched off the phone (I Guess I pressed and hold Power button for a very very long time and then released). Then installed ZUI Version using QFIL. Did lot of search to get the Diag Port drivers and after that it detected and installed software.
Now trying to install Original CM 12.1 OS.
Coming to the real problem why I tried to lock boot loader - Now a days all apps started checking whether phone is rooted or not I guess. It's not allowing me to install the SBI Pay App or the new IRCTC App in India. (Though Root is disabled in settings). So is there a way to install CM13/CM14 without rooting the phone.
You can go to developmee option and there is an optiom for enabling root
.. enable it and enjoy apps
I guess you got me wrong. Apps gives error that 'Your phone is rooted, Please un-root to continue'. This shows up irrespective of Root is enabled or disabled in Developer options.

Same problem man. It's been about 2 weeks with me. If you look closely its only the backlight which goes off after the boot and the LCD and touch is still on.
Please do look for a solution as i have found no solution to this problem. I've tried reflashing different roms and the stock firmware too, it comes on for a few mins after I flash stock firmware and the blacklight goes off after some time and the issue repeats after every boot. @wz68XDA

Have you tried flashing the complete stock ROM for your device? Did you follow the instructions in the link in my previous post, completely resetting the whole device, or did you flash it with TWRP/CWM? This will reset your bootloader, recovery, everything back to stock.
Also, do you have a picture of your device when this problem occurs?

After you flash a ROM, make sure you wipe the Cache/Dalvik before you reboot. And, in case something goes wrong, ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP!!
And, LOS takes about 10 minutes after a flash for the first boot.

The instructions in my post do not indicate that you need to relock the bootloader. There are separate instructions for that. Flashing the stock ROM will not relock your devices bootloader.

What OS were you on before, btw - was it Nougat? Try holding the power button down for 2-3 minutes, see if a reset will cause it to boot.
Does your computer still see your device as a Qualcomm HSB BULK or USB 9008 or something similar? Perhaps try https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71405834&postcount=23
If the above doesn't work, you may have to take your device to a service centre.
Also, as I understand, you need the latest firmwares to lock your device, which would be flashing the latest Nougat build.
As for your original backlight issue, it does appear to be a hardware issue if it's persisting across ROMs.

I was on Resurrection remix when the issue first occurred, I have since then tried jumping many roms, with the backlight working for a few mins before crashing but even flashing the stock rom didn't help.
I did flash the latest firmware but now that it won't go into the bootloader I'm assuming its a paperweight now since it won't even get recognized by the computer, no it doesn't show anything when connected.
I'll still give service center a try and hope they don't find out my bootloader was unlocked and not honor the warranty.
Thanks/

Could you please instruct me on how to lock the bootloader again so I can claim warranty at the service center?
It says " SOFTWARE STATUS: OFFICIAL" But still shows the bootloader unlocked warning with ID:bad
Thanks

You can send a support ticket to Motorola
and locking bootloader will NOT restore warranty
Good Luck,

I was on Resurrection remix when the issue first occurred, I have since then tried jumping many roms, with the backlight working for a few mins before crashing but even flashing the stock rom didn't help.
I did flash the latest firmware but now that it won't go into the bootloader I'm assuming its a paperweight now since it won't even get recognized by the computer, no it doesn't show anything when connected.
I'll still give service center a try and hope they don't find out my bootloader was unlocked and not honor the warranty.
Thanks/

Hmm, now it's powering on (and hopefully now charged), would you be willing to try re-flashing the latest firmware (https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/moto-g4-plus-xt1640-43-athene-npj25-93-t3549369), see if you can get your system back up and running. Also, in that guide, there'll be instructions on how to re-lock your bootloader (and possibly mask the bootloader warning). It's still however up to the service centre as to whether they'll check your warranty (as on record it's been voided by issuing the unlock code) or whether they just look at the receipts. Good luck either way though!

Qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 nexus 6P (HELP!)

Hi there, I've been browsing through the threads related to unbricking of the Nexus 6P stuck in qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008 mode, really desperate to get my device working again if even possible however I've tried for about four days now different ways and files and I've had no luck.
My bootloader is locked and no ADB etc managed to get my device showing as the 9008 port so I think it's stuck in EDL.
Following guides, this is the furthest I've yet to get (In screenshot)
Could anyone shed some light and some assistance please? what am I doing wrong!?
attempted to apply for heat some to the device then re flash ?

Use a hairdryer to warm up the back of the phone.
Are you pulling my leg? Warm it up then reflash?
nah im not trying to make you destroy your phone, being rather serious with this method. i use it on a daily basis to solve phones that fail during restoring factory images. i wouldn't know how long to give it with a hair dryer as i have access to a heat gun/heat mats .
just think of it as a cheap mans re balling method

thank you so much that worked, it has said flash successful, first time I got a google logo but now nothing, what would be my next step please?
if the bootloader is unlocked then you can directly flash the firmware. but if its not google "nexus ota" and then on your phone jump into the recovery and check the firmware model number and download the same ota and adb sideload it.
im not 100% sure on the next step as I've never had a nexus 6p with a dead bootloader. but thats what id do.

but from my personal experience with having to heat a phone up to restore factory images, it kinda means the phone is nearing the end of its life and id start thinking about buying your next phone before it sh*ts the bed.

Thank you for the reply and continuing to help, after seeing the google logo just once I'm getting nothing again - I'm even more determined now though as It's been dead for 2 months so this is the furthest I've gotten - the application of heat is what did it for me and fixed the error I was getting, can't get into recovery now though holding power + down etc

yeah can you access the bootloader at all ? does it say that the bootloader is locked ? from trying to restore LG's it sometimes has to be re heated a few times, but yeah if you need to re heat it to get further into the phone then its pretty much a lost cause. the only reason i do it is to remove the data so we can resell the device.

I can get into the andriod screen where you can select recovery and such, with the BL, Baseband product variation and such, where should I go from here?
Oh right, so even once restored to firmware, will it be useless do you think if I can even manage to?

I believe so, I can just about get into the bootloader at the best of times and when I do I can select options but once proceeding to start said mode phone freezes so can't get into recovery mode :/
Thank you for your continuous help, only way i can get it into bootloader is by heating it up so does that mean for the device to ever work It'll need heat every time? looking like a spares and repairs listing on ebay

Hello....
How did you manage to get in to EDL mode..? I'm really curious. With stock bootloader? Since you can't access recovery
Also what is exactly displayed in Windows device manager?
You are using an outdated QFil version... It is from 2014 àr 2015.
Do a google search with: QPST_2.7.453.0 . This version seem to be from 2016.
Use the first link from the result. I analysed the files with virustotal, those seem clean or malware...
Also when plugging your usb cord to your PC, does your phone vibrate? Or does the LED blink in red?
You may have to press power button when plugging the usb cord or press power button for a certain amount of time before you plug the usb cord. I'm not completly sure, but your phone may not be in the "proper" EDL state to accept the QFil flash.
Good luck... :good:
Is it possible to send me the guide you used? Thanks.

Hey there sorry for slow replies, will be back on my desktop in an hour I'll send you links for what I followed and such, I think the only reason my device was in EDL mode was due to a hardware fault? As my device is faulty indefinitely as I had to use a hairdryer to warm it up while flashing this then allowed it to enter firehose state which a lot of people seem to error with - after all my attempts and research I'm to velieve there's a fault with the phone itself the only way I could get it to even power up was applying heat to it after removing the back panel
As blackcell said deballing or something? Worked a treat!
Furthest I've managed to get now is into my boot loader however everything is locked - when I press enter recovery my handset just freezes ?

Light usually a red LED blink while in proper EDL state as far as I know. Could be something else on the N6P. Well, it looks like you are SOL. Sorry, I don't know what else to say, since you exhausted all possibilities...
Good luck...
