This works like a charm but for some reason I couldn't connect to WiFi after flashing back to JB. Now if I flash forward again to KK, the WiFi is fine again. I've been meaning to get a logcat to diagnose it but I haven't had time.

That's because the KK modem isn't fully compatible with the JB bootloader (and vice versa).

Yes but flash back flashes the modem, I do believe.

Upgrading to 4.4 kit Kat

Hey guys quick question my n4 is rooted and running cm10.1.3. I never bothered to upgrade to 4.3, so my radio, kernel and bootloader are stock 4.2.2. Is it better to get the ota update and be up on things or flash stock kernel, boot loader and radio for 4.4 when ever there available? Or maybe factory image?

Just flash the stock images for kit Kat when they are available, right now back up all your data

my friend as this will pop up all over the forum the best thing to do is just wait for a rooted version to show up. I did not upgrade my bootloader and I have not had any issues with 4.3 which mind you is a great running OS you should try it.
I dont understand having root then unrooting to flash stock which you obviously dont like since you run cm and then wait to root it all over again to back an upgraded rooted version of cm...

Question on the way for the custom recovery+kernel guys on 4.3 what is the best to upgrade besides wiping your entire phone and flashing the stock images entirely?.
I think i know 2 ways just not sure they are recommended, 1st is flashing stock kernel + returning recovery to stock (should get OTA)
2nd is flashing only the system.img and the bootloader me thinks.
Feel free to verify this.

You make a lot of sense ,its more of curiosity and so I won't brick my nexus. So I can get away with not upgrading my bootloader for 4.4?
What about kernel, do I need to update that for 4.4 or is that judgement call?

you are asking questions that trial and error are going to figure out for us. Kernels of course if you are on a 4.4 rom you would use a 4.4 kernel. Upgrading your bootloader may or may not be needed but we wont know until kitkat starts popping. everyone said you needed to upgrade bootloader for 4.3 but I have never had any issue at all.... Just wait it out and read read read

Not to sure but as long as you're on stock ROM and stock kernel you should be fine although I don't know if custom recovery keeps you from getting update.

Absolutely bro
You do have to be on stock recovery, stock bootloader for the update to go thru properly otherwise it'll fail.

If you are still on stock rom and you just have custom kernel+recovery, U could do the following for not using any current apps or files.
- Wait till your favorite Toolkit (e.g Wug) get updated for 4.4 and then download the official factory rom.
- Extract it and keep all separate zips, like radio, bootloader, system etc.
- Unroot and flash stock kernel
- Flash all previous zips, EXCEPT user.img which will delete everything
- Reroot and U r ready to flash again custom kernel
Maybe a noob question but my n4 is rooted. Will this cause any problems withe the update?

Hello,
My phone has already had the radio upgraded to latest so it can run 4.3. I am rooted, have TWRP 2.6.3.0, will I be ok to flash the PA 4.4 and gapps? I keep posts about folks losing their sdcard data and their custom recovery being removed (not sure how!).
Thanks.

I'm sure that radio doesn't affect your ability to flash certain ROMs so you shouldn't have a problem flashing 4.4. As far as losing SD data not sure how that's happening.

can i go back to 4.2.2 from 4.3?

hey guys... im on 4.3 MK2 rooted, can i install a 4.2.2 rom stock or custom ?? with 4.2.2 modem and bootloader.
thanks.
If you updated by keeping the MF9 bootloader you can go back to stock. If you took the OTA however, you can only downgrade to 4.2 with a custom ROM.

but i can downgrade to 4.2 (100% 4.2) using a custom rom?? or i will be on 4.2 but with the same new bootloader?
what custom rom would work in my case? if you can give me a link to one.. there are so many here.
If you're on the MJA or MK2 bootloader, you're stuck with it.
And why would you want to go back to 4.2? Any ROM would work, but seems kind of pointless.

i downgraded the modem to mdc and did the unlock process. it worked, i can make and receive calls but when the phone is going to 3g i get a error message "LTE esm 29 emm-x cannot establish wireless data connection" nobody else had that issue.. i dont know if hte fact that my phone is not activated on spring is relevant.. it shouldn't be, because im using the phone outside the US.
i dont know what to do to make this thing work.. i have flashed from mdc to mk2 or mja like 5 times and i always get the same message.

Hi mate ,If you flash a stock NA5 you can no longer downgrade to stock 4.3. but you can try to flash your 4.3 Nandroid back up via recovery. or You can atleast downgrade to any custom 4.3 roms even aosp rom as well.Have a nice day
If the official kitkat come and I flash. Then everryhing is okey. Or not.

If the official kk came out in the end of january . Yea you should be alright . But if your thinking to downgrade to 4.3 stock then its not possible. If your having any issue with the leak, just flash the kitkat rom again.

XT905 KitKat update

Hi all. Can i flash thru RSD-Lite latest sbf for XT907 to get the KitKat bootloader and kernel? Would my phone work same as now? Is it possible to flash this upgrade?
Due to XT905 don't have any OTA updates, and CM is going to support only KitKat kernel/bootloader - i want to try.

You should be able to. But, right now, its better to stay with jellybean because of the ROM availability and all of that stuff. That's why I downgraded from kk to jb

Yes, you could. But I believe the Modem included in this update won't work on the XT905 and the JB Modem you have installed won't work with KikKat.
