Just Odin whatever firmware you were on when you got the phone and you'll be good to go.

Nope, it will trigger Knox....
any idea how this behaves if you did not upgrade the bootloader files? (update with custom created odin tar)
aka could you downgrade if you still have old (MI7) bootloader?
Hi guys,
I was initially on URDLV MI7 & I updated to MJ7 via Mobile odin pro v3.85.
Currently, I am on MJ7 with MI7 bootloader. Knox still 0x0-Good.
So my Q's now is how do I unroot and return fully to stock without triggering Knox.
Thx.
There are some conflicting posts regarding this around the forum, me personally I would just unroot via the SU app, or you could just reflash stock firmware via ODIN - ( flashing stock back apparently does NOT trigger KNOX) - However I have tried neither of these as I am already 0x1, so not sure which actually works.
Yep, I'd flash Terlstra rom using PC ODIN. Should unroot and you should be able too as you are still on MI7 bootloaders...

That's a custom rom which would trigger knox.

OK so you have MI7 bootloader and running MJ7 build?
IN order to keep MI7 you can't flash the Stock ROM MJ7 fw, as it will upgrade the bootloader. (unless you use ODIN Mobile)
If you want to flash back totally stock, unroot via SuperSU /Flash the stock MJ7 fw via ODIN (which will also upgrade the bootloader) and it shouldn't trip KNOX. There's a few threads around with conflicting reports on which does and does not trip KNOX, so have a read then take the gamble if you choose too.
I updated via KIES to MJ7 from rooted MJ6 and it was all fine But I had tripped KNOX previously when messing around.
Let us know how you get on and which method you choose.
K. Thx.

I think you must have stock recovery in order to downgrade the modem. I am with stock recovery and knox 0 and I upgraded and then downgraded back perfectly at the first attempt each of the above (I was also using Mobile Odin Pro for that).

I have an S5 that came from T-Mobile with 5.1.1. I want to go back to Kitkat. I've tried flashing Kitkat roms and also Odin to flash stock firmwares, nothing seems to work. Am I stuck or is there a way to roll back?
Guess not

I had lolipop 5.0.1 SM-G900F yesterday and I can tell you that I succeed on downgrade. I now have 4.4.2 but there is one problem, Towelroot don't work anymore so if you want to downgrade your software you can do it by downloading it from sammobile. If you want root it without knox you probably don't find any solution, if you want to mind hit knox you can use chain-fire. I could not find anything that will root it without hiting knox.

Agreed. It it very doable to downgrade back to KitKat but the only thing I found to reroot is Chainfire as well.

Just downgrade to the latest 4.4 with ANE2 Baseband - so Towelroot will work without any problems.
If you are on 5.1.1 you cannot downgrade, downgrade was possible on 5.0.x

Joe is your phone rooted? I have the same exact same phone and have successfully rolled it back. If not rooted, here are some links to help you out and then you can flash whatever rom you like. If you are on OG6 use this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...t/root-kernel-root-method-fog6-5-1-1-t3178077 or if you are on OF6 use this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...t/root-kernel-root-method-fof6-5-1-1-t3158005 After getting root, flash a custom recovery like Philz Touch or TWRP and flash whatever rom you're looking for. Here is also a link to the T-Mobile section of this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s5/development Everything you need is there.
I tried to downgrade back to kitkat in odin but when I try to flash the stock firmware ending in ANG it says "SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 2> Binary 1". Can someone please help me out with this? I don't want to be stuck on 6.0.1 i'm having too many problems. Thanks!
Downgrade with Odin is limited to BOK3.
Downgrade to kitkat is possible, but tricky a little.

It seems rather complicated. I had a look at that forum along with many others. I'm on marshmallow right now. How can I successfully flash to G900VVRU2BPB1 if the kitkat didnt work? The instructions in the forum don't explain very well and doesn't say if you can return to kitkat. Do I have this right?

You can easily flash BPB1 with Odin, but don't forget to perform a factory reset after flashing.
You can also easily flash BOK3, BPB1, DPD1, DPF4, DPG2, DPJ2, DPL1, DPA1, DPB2, DQC2, DQD1, DQF2, DQH2 and DQI2 with Odin.
The first two are LP, the others are MM.

So all I have to do is flash BPB1? I downloaded the modem, kernal and firmware for ANCG. Do I flash those in odin with it? How do I get back to kitkat?

Sorry but I'm still not understanding what i'm doing. I read the forum you linked me and downloaded the files. So if I flash BPB1 in Odin then i'm on LL right? Then I can just flash back to kitkat?

Right:
Yes, if you flash BPB1 in Odin then you're on LL.
No, you cannot just flash back to KK in Odin.

You've been pointed to a thread with a working guide how to do it.
And you've fulfilled the first step of that guide.
Try moving forward.

I followed the guide but once I got on to lollipop I tried to root with King root that was provided in lolliroot and it was not successful. Said "root method not available". I then tried to root with towelroot and was not successful. I was able to get back to 6.0.1 for now. I'm a bit upset that I followed the guide and it didn't work. Any suggestions on how else to root 5.0 and get back to 4.4.2 kit kat? Thanks!
