I rooted my SM-T230NU and before I start deleting stock apps I wanted to make a backup or at least have a ROM to flash in recovery in case I make a mistake. Any suggestions? On my Nexus 5 I use twrp.
Can I use an app like zipme from ROM toolbox to make a zip and flash it from the stock recovery in case I have a problem.

You can always grab a copy of your firmware from sammobile, along with Odin in case you delete anything you shouldn't.
Titanium Backup is my preference for backing up system apps while removing bloatware
I could use your help

I'm just starting with android and planning on rooting my phone (vD800) eventually. I made a backup here: all settings> general> backup and reset but I don't think this is what I need for recovering from a failed root. What do I need to get so I can make an image of the phone? I have lots of questions but that'll do it for now.
You need to first root then install custom recovery then make a back up...

What do you mean by failed root? I've never experienced such a thing. To root follow this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48709232&postcount=869
You don't replace the OS until after the custom recovery (such as TWRP) is installed. So after you install TWRP or whichever recovery you want just boot in to the recovery and then backup there. Then flash whichever ROM you want.
Ok I get the part about not replacing the OS until you are rooted. So just root it and if I fail post here and see if anyone can help?
I guess I'm just trying to be sure I understand what I'm getting into before I do something that could seriously mess up my phone.
You can use the LG backup app on your phone, it's quite good. Then move or copy the backup file to the computer for safekeeping. I did this when I downgraded back to jellybean from kitkat in order to root kitkat and it worked perfectly. There's nothing about the root process for jellybean that will hurt the phone or cause data loss.
Dear friends,
First all, I tried to search, found some threads (Titanium Backup problem) but it did not work for me.
I just bought a N9005 (after 1 year stick with i9500). With i9500 everything very simple with 4.3, I haven't upgraded to KitKat.
With N9005 I stuck with some problem for days: Tried to install some Custom Rom: Crash, Echoe, X-Note ... same problems:
- Dropbox: can not export file, can not save.
- Titanium Backup: FC
- Some apps can not download file.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I tried
"su
Restorecon -R -v /data/data/
But still didnot work. I think the problem is can not write on the storage. But it's weird, in Browser i'm still able to download files.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Later I went back to stock rom, with root flashed. Everything go smooth. But I still want to go with custom rom (as I always did with my i9500). Is this custom rom problem?
-----------------------------------------------------------
Thank you all.
Best regards.
Ryan.

Ok sorry my bad, may I edit my post?
Might not be crrupted or virus, I tried many times with different roms, with full wipe, format ...
Still not entirely clear - did you have a working KK ROM and now you're trying to install a KK custom ROM, or did you have JB 4.3 before trying to upgrade?

Before installing custom rom, did you wipe your rom manually using recovery (CWM)? wipe cache, systems, dalvik and data partitions?
Titanium backup have a problem when restoring data in KK, but there is a fix for it in the playstore. When finished restore (batch restore) don't run the app yet, run the TB fix and restart.phone.
All downloaded file using any browser will go to phone memory.
I am using stock root NC2. to bypass this SD Card issue copy this file to system/etc/permissions and set permission. Restart phone. hope it help.

To be clearer, I have stock root NC2, wanna try other custom roms (Crash, Echoe, Xnote).
I tried them all but still have the same issue.
I always do full wipe in CWM when switch to another custom rom.
I tried to edit the permission as you mentioned (both manually and copy file) but got error message all the time, seem like I couldn't write or edit file.
I installed the TB fix on Play Store, but It say no issues with the phone (weird), so can not run.
Stock rom everything seem ok but custom roms always have same issues T_T

I have SM-T5430nu and I used Flashify to install TWRP (twrp2830_falcon_pac5sub77_v2.img) and it went into recovery and download mode. What do I need to do to fix this? Is there a stock ROM I can reflash in odin? Where can I get TWRP and install it?
Thanks

Here is the file to flash through Odin that will return everything back to stock factory settings (if you're in Canada don't use that file I think I have a better one for you). Be warned in flashing back to stock, you WILL lose all of your personal data saved on the tablet and there's no way to reverse that if you haven't backed things up.
It sounds like you're attempting to use an outdated version of TWRP. The most current build can be found in the first post of this thread. Download from the line that's right at the top:
TWRP 2.8.4.0 MATISSE WIFI IMG ZIP TAR

Either download the img file to flash with flashify or the tar file to flash with Odin

At first reflash your stock firmware . And , what the hell did you decide that this is your TWRP . T53x called matisse . Taken from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/development/recovery-twrp-2-8-1-0-samsung-galaxy-t2922795 or from here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=23537 .

Odin flashable factory image
Custom recovery flashable stock rom
For future reference, the "falcon" in the incorrect recovery file refers to the development name of the device that that recovery is actually intended for, one of the Motorola Falcon line of phones. Almost all devices have development codenames that have no resemblance or relevance to their actual retail name. All variants of the 10.1" Tab 4 are referred to as "Matisse" for development purposes. My first experience with this was with my first android phone, the Pantech Burst. Its development name was "Presto" and therefore all roms files, recoveries, etc. bore that Presto as part of its name. Most recovery/rom files for this tablet will either have the word matisse in the file name or will make some reference to that.
Repey, yes he should be aware of that before indiscriminately flashing files, but in his defense nothing that comes with the tablet references the codename Matisse. When I first came to this forum I had to google Matisse before I was 100% sure what you and Moonbutt74 were referencing (although I had a hunch because of my past experience)
Well, thanks for everything and it's in working order, almost.....before rooting, the tab was like a tank in term of battery life (almost 3 days) now its 1/2 - 1 day of a charge. I have juice defender ultimate and i'm getting x1.01 from the extreme profile.
My official model number is SM-T530NZWSXAR

Sorry. I don't know when you responded. Slow network. It just won't boot past the CWM recovery/reeboot system now screen. It says my CWM folder is empty. I have an S3 I can use to transfer the .zip CWM file to the SD card of the S4, if I had the .zip file. I have no way to a computer to do anything like that, that way. The I'm Samsung Leiss? (I think) to restore it back to the factory version.
Thanks for answering. Appreciate it a lot.

If you mean that you can use a s3 backup on the s4, then no, don't do that, i believe you can flash the stock firmware using your phone by MobileOdin or Flashfire apps...i guess, but i never tried them so i wouldn't recommend, if you have CWM recovery installed, you can try flashing a stock based ROM from development thread(if you like TW ROMs), you can also flash any custom ROM available for your model in the development thread.
