[Q] LG L7 is really slow - Optimus L3, L5, L7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, my girlfriend bought an L7 a year ago and it worked well for some months, then somehow it became really slow and laggy... I flashed Cr3pt's Paranoid rom to see if I could make it faster, but it's exactly the same..
Is there anyone with the same problem? Is there any solution for this problem?
Thank you for your time.

I don't know how to do that, I'm just a normal user, not an expert on this matter :/
testing it all day I realised that it is a bit faster, but there's still a lot of lag on scroll, openning apps, during apps, always.. I don't know what else to do.. Could it be an hardware malfunction?

Have not tried it, seems like it might work but I guess the device needs to be rooted.
I'm personally waiting for ICS from samsung to see if that makes much of a difference.
Yes you need to be rooted, and yes I use it on my Gtab 7.7.

Battery drainage - No.
Notice a difference - hard to say on its own because I use it with other mods. I rooted and flashed clockwork recovery, changed launchers (to LauncherPro) and abandoned Touchwiz though am still on the stock rom; added SD card cache boost; used the V6 supercharger, modded my build.prop, and the end result is my Gtab is super smooth in daily use with essentially no issues.

Btw I used calculator recommendation settings and it actually made my tab sluggish even though the numbers were higher. So I used the 768 HP settings and it returned back to fast speed. I have yet to experience a noticeable difference but I also haven't played around with it that much since

Yes!
It affects my battery let's say:
Daily use like texting, bluetooth, wifi, etc. = 2 to 4 days (depending on your cpu configuration)
Playing music, videos, games, browsing, etc = 1 to 2 days (also depends on cpu configuration)
I'll post some proof that it will last 2 to 4 and 1 to 2 days )

I cannot guarantee it's stableness, so it's really up to the user to test it out if it works. There are mixed reviews for Merruk Kernel at the moment, and i for one have encountered and fair share of problems, though i did manage to boot up with the kernel, it's now just a matter of seeing if i can be able to fix the things the don't work.
same thing here, i managed to boot with merruk 2.5 but later when i used the 1.2ghz i'm starting to experienced random restart. I try to used a lot of combination of governor and i/o but still i can't stabilize my sgy.. im using jellyblast v3.4 rom.

You probably will need an alternative kernel tweaking app besides Franco's updater app like trickster mod app to change the GPU governor back to ondemand.

trickster isn't updated yet to support simple gpu gov, u have to wait with trickster too.
but if you have m3 or test r666 you have simple gov active by default for sure!

It says performance because the developer hasn't updated the app to show the new GPU governor. Once the app is updated it will show the Simple GPU as the default governor. There's no need to check if it's running. It's already implemented in the kernel code. I do think there are apps to check GPU status.

Now that I have root access, what can I do to make this phone faster?

As we all know on paper this phone is a beast but in real life not so much. Now that I had this phone for a week I can definitely say that my Galaxy S3 running AOKP 4.3 ROM was faster than this phone (no joke).
I mean the only thing that really bothers me a lot with this phone (and I don’t know if its touchwiz related) is lock screen lag. Sometimes when I’m locking or unlocking the phone it takes a good second or two to “wake up” or “go to sleep”
Do any of you guys notice the same problem? If so is the any way to fix this now that we have root access?
I’m also looking for any other tips and tricks to make this phone a little faster
Thanks in advance

Zero animations will help a little but it won't work miracles. You are used to an aosp-style rom, and Touchwiz simply is not that. Once we get Safestrap, devs will get debloated TW roms for this beast. Until then, you just have to deal with TW lag & bloat

Try to freeze/remove the "S Voice" application that maps itself to ---> double tap Home key.
By removing it, it removes the double tap mapping which greatly helped with home button wake lag on my Note 2
Next most common thing to help you is to use an app such as Android Tuner to edit the stock kernel CPU clocks. In deep sleep(=screen off), you can raise the mhz of the CPU so it takes less time to wake up. Not sure if you can do this on stock kernel/locked bootloader just yet and this will eat more battery in general if your phone is in deep sleep often

App for cpu control in lollipop n910c

Anyone knows any app for effectively control frequencies and governors in lollipop n910c?
Thanks
I think as long as there is no modded kernel out there in space you're unlucky to take control over the stock one ...

Ok...but im pretty sure that your settings wont stick after reboot and voltage settings are not available, or?
Thats -for me- the main reason to install a tweaked kernel and a control app ?

Yes. After reboot settings are losed but is easy to reconfigure.
Voltage isn't available with this app, i think that is a kernel restriction related.
