Both on 100 brightness
System font is different?
A lot Yellowish than G2, Brightness also seem low on G3 even both are at 100%.
What are we looking for?
the g3's battery is at 100% while the g2 is at 73%
also you have the g2 charging, notice the battery icon..No way to tell if they both started at 100% battery.
G3 has real white, while G2 has artificial blueish white coloring.
Hehe love this keep goin

G2 is brighter and that makes it appear sharper.

Buttons are 3d on G2 and 2d on G3
The colors on the G3 are terrible. They are not a "real" white, its a dull faded mess.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Xparent BlueTapatalk 2
The G2 is really saturated, not sure how it would look on an actual photo with those settings, but still looks far better than the G3. If the labels are true
i heard some people g3 screens arnt so dull like mine.
yes theres color adjestment setting but im talking about out the box.
plus heard some whites are same as g2/
The g2's screen looks a lot more appealing
Sent from my Xperia Z1
A little yellow is fine if the accuracy is there. In fact, most S-IPS displays for graphics use make the white appear a bit "yellowish" at times but this is completely normal. A super nice cool white can sometimes mean over saturation and non-calibration. So in that sense perhaps the G3 is giving out a better overall color accurate feeling than the saturated G2.
Its just a matter of preference. Since I work in graphics... my devices are usually always calibrated to how I like it and usually dimmer than other people who love to max the brightness which definitely causes over saturation and color accuracy defects more.
id say its better on the eyes and it takes time getting use to

No, just no. I've had two G3s. First had a pink cast to whites. 2nd has better whites than my previously owned M8 and my iPad Air and neither of those screens are defective. Colors are also great on my current G3.
The g2 looks over sharpened and blurry while the g3 doesn't

With the amount of galaxy s phones produced I think this has been darn good quality control. And i bet your itouch doesnt produce the great blacks that our vibrants have. If you have only had it for 6 months then you still have 6 months warranty left so send it in and get it fixed.

..super amoled so spd
Sorry but as fantastic as Super Amoled looks initially, it quickly fizzles out, and is prone to burn in.
check this thread out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=799750
SuperAMOLED doesn't have burn-in, but rather serious image retention.. so if you leave a screen on it will leave a retained image but you can get rid of it by playing back lots of video or full screen games.
I haven't had any problems with my Super AMOLED display or my Vibrant in general besides the GPS antenna thing which in my account is a flaw of design and not poor quality control.
Hey guys I currently have a black GSII and a white GSII on hand right now. I was planning to return my black one for a full refund to Amazon (because I wanted a white one), but now I am baffled. So as you guys can see in my pictures I have a black GSII on stock KI4 firmware and a white one on stock KI4 firmware. They are both on lowest brightness, however the white one has a much more washed out display and looks significantly dimmer than the black one when they are both on lowest brightness. The screen on the white one seems to have a grainy texture as well. FYI: both screens are set to NORMAL display modes (not dynamic or movie). In addition when I look at pictures with a lot of black in the background in pitch-black I can see gray spotches over my screen. I am almost positive that this screen is faulty (on the white one of course). Can anyone confirm that the White one does indeed have a faulty screen? Thanks

Oh yea - don't mind the charging on the black phone - it doesn't make a difference whether it's charging or not because it plenty of juice left anyways. There are no screen differences when it's charging and when it's not.
Could it be because the black one is charging ...

It makes no difference dude.
I just posted exactly the same problem!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313318
It not diffirence between black or white , it also happen to black and black, white and white . Samsung galaxy s2 is the best phone i'v ever used but it LCD panel pretty not stable . Even the phone just arrive in this month or the phone arrive in June are all the same , sometime i think i can never find 2 galaxy s2 phone that match in LCD panel.
I have the exact same issue with our other SGS2 that had its screen replaced. The one is way too dark/dim.

No difference for my case. It was dark on stock ROM (though I could swear it was okay when the store staff turned on the phone to let me check ). Even after I flashed it to the same ROM and kernel as mine, problem still persists. For the time being, I have hacked into framework-res.apk to crank up the brightness at every level. This suffice for now.
---------- Post added at 12:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:20 PM ----------
For those interested, you can follow the instruction here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1235212&highlight=brightness to crank up the brightness of your screen. I am currently using
80, 120, 180, 230, 255
As a comparison, I have to crank down the brightness of my black SGS2 to
5, 40, 80, 140, 220 and it is still brighter than the cranked-up white one!
My white one is fine and identical to the black one I used to own. I did notice a difference in blacks and greys.

So, one of the big reasons that I waited for the S3 instead of upgrading to the Galaxy Note, was because of widespread reports of "crushed blacks" on the Note's display (see this thread).
Crushed blacks is where instead of seeing an even progression in brightness from absolute inky black to the next darkest series of grays, you'll see black and then a stark jump in brightness to the next darkest gray. This defect makes watching movies and other media with lots of dark scenes a problem because it's hard to ignore the high contrasty / blotchy areas.
I'd appreciate it if someone could verify that this is a non-issue on the S3 by using the test image I've attached below. Download it, and view it fullscreen in a dark room. An actual photo of your screen would be nice too. TIA.
EDIT: Thanks all! Glad this isn't a problem on the S3 (and hopefully it won't be on the Galaxy Note 2 either).

I come from a Galaxy Note, too. The problem doesn't exist on the S3.
First thing I did when I got my S3 was that I did the test like on the Note (opened the image in QuickPic with the setting "Force true color decoding on") and went into a pitch dark room. Breathed a sigh of relief.
Here is a good example of what the problem with the Note looked like

I'm happy to report that I had no issue on my screen. Looked great and no crushing at all. I also went ahead and did a dead pixel check and turned out to be 100% :good:

im wondering if the display will have pixels on the bottom of the icons like the s3 has, visible single pixels,,that is kind of annoying..i dont like iphones, but the display seems to be more sharp,do you think s4 will be sharp?? no visible pixels?
the 441pixel per inch answers your question

yes,i think its very nice,rich colors,vivid.
Remember, the GS4 has RGB Mode, which makes white's much more natural.
Cant wait til my upgrade!
tx for the answers .
It's so realistic! :cyclops:
It's gonna be an awesome display in every way. People who complain about PenTile don't have any reason to because the ultra high PPI cancels out everything. And if you don't like the default saturated colors, there's always Adobe RGB mode which is apparently better calibrated than HTC One.
Sent from my Xperia Arc S using xda premium
Yeah you can still see them but you have to look a lot more closely, you wont notice it at a normal viewing position.

Don't quote me on this, but I recently read an article about calibrating the screen on the Note II. It described activating the Adobe RGB setting for realistic colors, etc, but the article went on to say that carriers removed this menu selection. Do you believe carriers will do the same for the S4?
I could be talking out of my arse, but I just recall this article. I can't locate it.
I know that AT&T GS3 didn't have the same screen mode selections like the International version did. Can't speak for the rest of the carriers though.
Which is why I'm hoping At&t retains this for the S4.

Unbranded EU S8 - no red screen issues whatsoever.
Yes I have it round edges just hole update fixes it
Compared to my old s7e, the s8's whites looked a bit pinkish at first sight....BUT at the same time the reds are pure red (ral 3000). OMG these reds.... The old s7e shows an almost orange red put side by side (ral 3020). I tend to like more the punchy pure reds of the s8. It looks more accurate. I toned down the red in settings and now the white is almost pure white and looks awesome. For me this is the sweet spot. In my case the red tint is a non issue
Not sure, don't think so. Top picture is basic colour profile, second adaptive. The basic profile (and cinema and photo), the white point seems more of a yellow hue. I've made it bluer through adaptive as per the second photo, but not sure if the warmer tone is correct for the other profiles? First OLED display for a while. Can't really see any red tinge.
