Ok when I first bout my phone about 6 months ago or less...my screen was very bright. Now I am starting to notice vertical dark lines across my screen, and the screen is noticiby allot less brighter than before...my 2nd gen itouch has a brighter screen that will blind u compared to my phone. Ive been running on overstock kernel eversince it came out so it is not the kernel.. I think my screens pixels r dieng also the dark lines r not noticable unless u got one big bright plain background but this is bad quality control

With the amount of galaxy s phones produced I think this has been darn good quality control. And i bet your itouch doesnt produce the great blacks that our vibrants have. If you have only had it for 6 months then you still have 6 months warranty left so send it in and get it fixed.

..super amoled so spd
Sorry but as fantastic as Super Amoled looks initially, it quickly fizzles out, and is prone to burn in.
check this thread out
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=799750
SuperAMOLED doesn't have burn-in, but rather serious image retention.. so if you leave a screen on it will leave a retained image but you can get rid of it by playing back lots of video or full screen games.
I haven't had any problems with my Super AMOLED display or my Vibrant in general besides the GPS antenna thing which in my account is a flaw of design and not poor quality control.

seriously waiting for the answer
Looks nice enough but i wouldn't want one over my black one, what i would love though is a nice silver chrome plated GS2 that would be seriously smart.
Looks like the battery cover is smooth doesnt have the same texture as the black one. Also, the official Samsung 2000mah battery only come in black as of now

Hmmm i would have loved it if they made them blink with a blue backlight, but it's still nice. At least the back cover won't become grayish when the finishing will be worn, at a guess...my black one suffers from that a little, and take into account that my phone lives in a full body case 90% of the time

No offence but i prefer black, simply because the screen and proximity and camera looks odd on a white front. Looks more "out there" where as black looks stealth...

Hey guys I currently have a black GSII and a white GSII on hand right now. I was planning to return my black one for a full refund to Amazon (because I wanted a white one), but now I am baffled. So as you guys can see in my pictures I have a black GSII on stock KI4 firmware and a white one on stock KI4 firmware. They are both on lowest brightness, however the white one has a much more washed out display and looks significantly dimmer than the black one when they are both on lowest brightness. The screen on the white one seems to have a grainy texture as well. FYI: both screens are set to NORMAL display modes (not dynamic or movie). In addition when I look at pictures with a lot of black in the background in pitch-black I can see gray spotches over my screen. I am almost positive that this screen is faulty (on the white one of course). Can anyone confirm that the White one does indeed have a faulty screen? Thanks

Oh yea - don't mind the charging on the black phone - it doesn't make a difference whether it's charging or not because it plenty of juice left anyways. There are no screen differences when it's charging and when it's not.
Could it be because the black one is charging ...

I just posted exactly the same problem!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313318
It not diffirence between black or white , it also happen to black and black, white and white . Samsung galaxy s2 is the best phone i'v ever used but it LCD panel pretty not stable . Even the phone just arrive in this month or the phone arrive in June are all the same , sometime i think i can never find 2 galaxy s2 phone that match in LCD panel.
I have the exact same issue with our other SGS2 that had its screen replaced. The one is way too dark/dim.

No difference for my case. It was dark on stock ROM (though I could swear it was okay when the store staff turned on the phone to let me check ). Even after I flashed it to the same ROM and kernel as mine, problem still persists. For the time being, I have hacked into framework-res.apk to crank up the brightness at every level. This suffice for now.
---------- Post added at 12:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:20 PM ----------
For those interested, you can follow the instruction here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1235212&highlight=brightness to crank up the brightness of your screen. I am currently using
80, 120, 180, 230, 255
As a comparison, I have to crank down the brightness of my black SGS2 to
5, 40, 80, 140, 220 and it is still brighter than the cranked-up white one!
My white one is fine and identical to the black one I used to own. I did notice a difference in blacks and greys.

Hey guys
I just got my 32GB Nexus 7 yesterday. Didn't buy it online, just in a local store.
Initial impressions are petty good. Only issue that I have is that I'm worried that the screen might be defective. I didn't notice anything off about it until I looked at it beside my Nexus S i9023 (SLCD not Amoled) and saw that the screen has a very warm (yellow) colors compared to the Nexus S which might have a too cold color temp.
Check out the picture below and tell me what what you think.

Is this normal or is the screen defective and I should return it ASAP?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
It's 100% normal. It's just because of different display matrix used in both devices. Nexus S uses SLCD (as you've mentioned) while N7 uses IPS (just like all the other Asus' tablets - check out the Transformer series)

OK that's good news. I saw quite a lot of threads here on xda where people were complaining about similar issues. It doesn't look bad to me, just different from what I'm used to.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
Yeah, it's somewhat uncomfortable for first week or so, but then you get used to it and it doesn't seem that bad.
I thought that there was something wrong with the display or my device (especially after coming from HTC Flyer with its bright display and pretty saturated colours) but it's simply a "downside" of an IPS matrix.

There's no yellowing really, at least not for me. It's just the color temperature (or maybe gamut, don't know the exact term) of the display.

the 441pixel per inch answers your question

yes,i think its very nice,rich colors,vivid.
Remember, the GS4 has RGB Mode, which makes white's much more natural.
Cant wait til my upgrade!
tx for the answers .
It's so realistic! :cyclops:
It's gonna be an awesome display in every way. People who complain about PenTile don't have any reason to because the ultra high PPI cancels out everything. And if you don't like the default saturated colors, there's always Adobe RGB mode which is apparently better calibrated than HTC One.

Yeah you can still see them but you have to look a lot more closely, you wont notice it at a normal viewing position.

Don't quote me on this, but I recently read an article about calibrating the screen on the Note II. It described activating the Adobe RGB setting for realistic colors, etc, but the article went on to say that carriers removed this menu selection. Do you believe carriers will do the same for the S4?
I could be talking out of my arse, but I just recall this article. I can't locate it.
I know that AT&T GS3 didn't have the same screen mode selections like the International version did. Can't speak for the rest of the carriers though.
Which is why I'm hoping At&t retains this for the S4.

is there anything I can do to fix this, or the burn settled there for good? Is this covered under samsung warranity?

I am a little surprised it happened this fast, but I guess it's not impossible.
I don't think there's any way to fix it and it will probably not be covered by warranty.
However, you could call Samsung and ask or just send it to a service centre and see what they say. Best of luck!
Well i know it seems strange, but it went away on its own. Like it was a temporary burn in or something.

It's called image retention. Very common especially with plasma TVs. It will go away when the screen displays other content for a period of time.
Sent from my Note 4
Note 4 has an invert colors option under settings> acessibility > vision
This may help with burn in or image retention but I'm not sure you would want to play a game that way.
LMAO, im addicted to minutequest to OP! i actually have been running a bot sort of thing that keeps my guy moving so iv had this game on my phone screen for hours the past couple of days. havent noticed anything yet, but am very scared of screen burn in.
Blam it on Ingress
Sorry for bumping this, but I, too, burned the "Ingress" scanner image onto my Note 4 after leaving the screen on for hours. It's very noticeable on blue and white screens.
I also have screen burn and be sure to change the display?
