I've had my Note 4 for about a month now. I downloaded a game yesterday night, and played it the whole night. As soon as I closed the game I noticed the screen burn right away where the static white edges of the game was displayed, like shown in this image:

I've always known about amoled burn-in issue, but i've had no idea it happens this fast! It isn't very noticable, and only shows on white backgrounds, I have to look a little hard to see it but it's there.
is there anything I can do to fix this, or the burn settled there for good? Is this covered under samsung warranity?
Lol... sry
That comes from playing crap 80's games on modern hardware

I am a little surprised it happened this fast, but I guess it's not impossible.
I don't think there's any way to fix it and it will probably not be covered by warranty.
However, you could call Samsung and ask or just send it to a service centre and see what they say. Best of luck!
Well i know it seems strange, but it went away on its own. Like it was a temporary burn in or something.

It's called image retention. Very common especially with plasma TVs. It will go away when the screen displays other content for a period of time.
Sent from my Note 4
Note 4 has an invert colors option under settings> acessibility > vision
This may help with burn in or image retention but I'm not sure you would want to play a game that way.
LMAO, im addicted to minutequest to OP! i actually have been running a bot sort of thing that keeps my guy moving so iv had this game on my phone screen for hours the past couple of days. havent noticed anything yet, but am very scared of screen burn in.
Blam it on Ingress
Sorry for bumping this, but I, too, burned the "Ingress" scanner image onto my Note 4 after leaving the screen on for hours. It's very noticeable on blue and white screens.
I also have screen burn and be sure to change the display?

I just noticed this after looking at the screentest app, but on gray background I can see some lighter "smudges" or light spots near the middle bottom of the screen. I was hoping it was a smudge on the actual screen since I still have the piece of plastic from factory on it, but I don't think that's what it is. Does anyone else have these lightish spots, and is it something I should expect? I don't see any other issues like stuck or dead pixels so I thought I was in the clear. I can't see it on every screen and I have to really look for it unless it's a gray background like in the picture below.
I tried to highlight what I'm talking about.

All the smearing topics I've seen involved scrolling and seeing the gray bars leave a trail behind them, this is a persistent spot on the screen that is just lighter than the rest on certain backgrounds.
This thread says he got the screen replaced:

also som3 said they got it when going to settings anyway as far for replacement
you can even get the phone replaced
Not sure what the first part of your post means, but this looks like LCD mura. Verizon said I have 14 days to get another one if something is wrong, so as long as I can get a brand new one in exchange and test it out in the store I may try to return it. I paid full price for the phone and it's going to annoy me every time I see it now.

yes you should replace it i would be annoyed 2 if my phone has that i mean if i pay for a high end phone i expect it to be perfect or has a few issues that i don't care for and plus i hate pink
I hate pink too, but this doesn't have anything to do with that. Pink/purple smearing is an entirely different issue.
Hey guys, i have the moto g for about 3 weeks now. i am pretty satisfied with it, battery life is great, altho for some reason it kinda shortened in 3 weeks, maybe its just my imagination. Anyway the phone is awesome but i've just noticed a small blueish spot on the display when the background is white. Its not very noticeable but only the thought of knowing its there makes me a lil sad. Anyone knows if it has any importance ? is it going to spread or something ? I have no idea when this happened, it might have been there since the beginning. Thx in advance !
I have two of them, except they're white and only show on black backgrounds. They're called stuck pixels. No they're not going to spread. You can try to play one of those stuck pixel fixer videos from YouTube on it for a couple hours and see if that fixes anything, or gently massage the pixel and see if that fixes it. You can also return it and get a replacement.

He didn't say it's a single pixel, but a "spot". It might be something more serious. A photo would be enough to understand, if you can get one.

The anandtech review mentioned they thought was unique to their samples - it looked like bubbles in the gorillaglass or similar. I wonder if this is that?
http://www.anandtech.com/show/7586/motorola-moto-g-review/5
One unfortunate thing about the Moto G I was sampled however is the presence of two small bubbles in the cover glass. I initially thought these were dust, but inspection with a microscope reveals they are in fact inhomogeneities in the cover glass.

I had this exact problem with my Moto G. I sent it in for repairs on the 23rd and I talked to Motorola today and they said they are still evaluating it and couldn't confirm if this was covered by their warranty or not. Has anybody else had Motorola repair their G for this problem?
Sounds like it might be a stuck pixel, search on play store: Dead Pixel Detect and Fix (sorry can't post links) & if that doesn't work than its most likely a dead pixel...

It's not a stuck pixel. It is an issue with the screen under the glass in the way it was installed. It is a pretty common issue. Sometimes these spots will go away after use.
I got my note 4 for 1.5 week now and today i saw something very very odd.
The screen was off and i saw the reflection of a ceiling lightbulb in my screen and what i noticed was that at a certain spot the reflection gets deformed! like you would push too hard on the screen and you'd push that section a little deeper.
I tried to capture a photo but that didnt really work out as the camera is blinded by the reflection. It looks like the glass just isnt completely flat , like when its still liquid and cooling down you'd put your finger on it to make an indent..
Its located in the middle heightwise and about 2/3rd to the right side. I've never ever seen this before, only with my ipod touch 4g i could push the glass and it would change reflections (so it kinda bent a little bit) but it came back to how it should be when pressure was released.
I've been very careful so i have no idea how this could have occured.. should i bring it back to the store or something?
I'm not really sure what you are describing but sounds like a defect. Better try returning it before you cant.
Return it before it's too late. That spot could be ripe for problems down the road when you've run out of warranty (ie weakness in the glass.)
Mine's the same. Almost like it has ripples but only noticable when the screen's off and I look at a bright light reflected in it.
I assumed it was normal . . . Perhaps due to the 2.5D (or whatever it's called) glass production. Doesn't seem to make any difference to the display or to touch sensitivity.
Anyone else have this?
Vey vey slight ripple on mine, but it's still considered normal. 2.5D is the rounded feature at the edges of the screen where it meets the metal rim.
yea mine isnt noticeable when the screen is on, only when looking at bright reflections. I'm going to the store just so they can notice it too and maybe write it on my warranty or something
Mine isn't flat either! Remember my Galaxy Note 10.1 had a similar problem but it was only on the back cover... having the same problem on the front side is totally unacceptable to me and I will return it tomorrow!!
Problem must be that components underneath the screen is sticking up too much.

Anyone having any issues with the display on theirs? I'm coming from a Note 5 and I feel like the screen on the S7 Edge is worse. I really only notice it in games like Clash of Clans or Boom Beach. Even the quality on the loading screens looks much worse. Not sure if it's just mine or if there's something I'm doing wrong but it's driving me nuts. I don't know if I should reset to factory default and start over but I haven't done much to the phone and definitely nothing that should be affecting this. Has anyone else noticed this with theirs?
Downloaded clash just too test this. Everything looked crisp
Side by side with my s6 this is definitely an improvement. Especially at lower levels
I too am coming from a Note 5. Waiting on my order.. Would love more updates on this..
Cleared cache and it looks better but I still feel like the Note 5 looked better at least in CoC. The screen looks great otherwise.
I noticed the colors in CoC look much deeper and crisp. Almost to a point that it's distracting. I took a screenshot of the game and looked at it in the gallery and it looks more like the it does on all my other devices. I thought maybe game tools was doing something to it and turned that off. That didn't make a difference either. I'm sure there's something that's being done on the video processing level that's affecting the color.
And how about the color swift? The white turn into blue or green when you view in low angles?

It's just physics. There's going to be color shift with a curved screen. That being said I don't notice it.

Im not talking about the edge curves, I'm talking about the screen, I see the edge and note have a lot of this issues and not so much the s6 normal and s7 normal.
I noticed it too. It seems that if a game is detected, it changes the screen mode from basic to one of the more super saturated modes. I dug through the settings looking for a way to shut it off, but haven't found anything yet.

You put the phone in settings (white images) and if you see in a little angle you can see the whites turn in to green or blue, and I see it more in the edge variant than the normal. It's very annoying

I'm talking about this issues, I see a lot of videos in YouTube and the edge have this issues and the s7 normal won't. This is why some edge have a more visible edge curve with this color and other not so much. See the photo

Maybe you dont like the change lower it on game launcher i play coc too and love the graphics
Hello everyone,
I'm facing a problem (or may be i have ocd) but I see that black texts on white background on note 4 is not even black. Actually it's more black on the left and some kind of gray on the right of the screen. But not completely like that. Some center block of the screen also have the gray texts. And somehow some character has the gray top and bottom and center black. It's very weird to me. I think I will borrow a camera to capture the screen and post here tomorrow.
I came to the Samsung warranty center this after and they say my screen is perfectly normal although I can see the unevenness by using web browser and especially kindle. I use kindle a lot and didn't spot the problem because mostly I use low brightness and black theme. They tested r/g/b/w/black using *#1*# and I don't see the problem here. I also borrow another note 4 and a s7e and also see the problem but not bad as my phone.
Is this by design?I used many lcd-product (iphone, ipad) and never met this problem.
same here, the display on note 4 is far from perfect. I have owned many note 4s most of them had an inconsistent display quality across screen. But not all people notice it...

Do you think this is amoled flaws? I don't have any problem view pictures, watch videos, but only seeing gray texts. I will borrow a good camera and upload the screen photo here.
I will borrow a better camera. Just got these pictures from iphone 6s. http://imgur.com/a/7JxGf

yes the display panel on most note 4s is like this but most people don't even notice it. Its not really a problem...very minor stuff....i used to worry about such minor things as well and kept wasting money on swapping one phone after another but i have learnt my lesson...there is no such thing as a "perfect phone" ! so get over it and enjoy your phone :good:

I found my issue. It's because the screen gets dirt and my finger print and effect the text quality. I haven't even think that text quality can be affected by such minor things. I cleaned them out and found the texts great again. But I want to say that even the screen is clear, some texts are not black, but not bad as in the picture.
