DHL Express: We’ll rob you then laugh in your face - ONE General

On July 22, 2014, a parcel was on its way from California via DHL express. The cargo was a shiny new OnePlus One 64GB Sandstone Black.
On July 23, 2014 at 8am, the parcel reached Canadian customs and was released to DHL express to be delivered at my work address. I payed the custom fees online and after doing so, the tracking status of the parcel was never again updated. this occurred at 1015am on July 23, 2014.
I called customer service on the 24th of July on several occasions and they told me every time that they did not know where the parcel was as of yet, but that it had reached their warehouse.
After several phone calls, they finally admitted that the parcel had been stolen from their warehouse and that I would need to file a claim with the company that sent me the parcel.
What bothers me the most, apart from being robbed, is that there are countless stories such as this one online and they keep getting away with it no matter how many people get robbed.

That blows, has Oneplus gotten back to you?

sort of.. they want me to file a complaint and give them the record number for said complaint.. the thing is.. DHL doesnt provide a ticket number when you submit a complaint..through their website..
so now its at a standstill until I can somehow get that number..

Sorry to hear about what happened. However, since this has absolutely nothing ti with XDA...

Clove, Handtech & other preorders

Hey everyone,
I hope someone can answer this question for me. Ive played an order from Clove already and they'll have phone in stock on May 1st and will ship on the 3rd. I landed upon Handtec just today and they say they'll receive stock on 27th of April and ship the next day. So ofcourse... I'm thinking about cancelling from Clove and just ordering from Handtec.
Question here is if anyone knows whether cancelling from Clove will be a problem if I just send them an email and ask them to do so? And in the meantime Ill just place order on Handtec right away. I've emailed clove to cancel already but before placing an order on Handtec I thought i'd just ask here. Main reason I'm wanting to know now instead of waiting for a response is because Handtec says they still have stock from first batch available so I wanted to get in on that.
Thanks in advance!
FYI... I had a TON of trouble ordering from Handtec. Unlike most web sites, like Amazon.co.uk, HMV, and many others... even AFTER Handtec had charged my credit card for the Samsung Galaxy S II, they insisted I provide a copy of my driver's license, a business card with the business address (since that was where I wanted the phone sent, so they could sign for delivery, etc.), and more. After two weeks of trying to make them happy, they STILL wanted more information. I indicated I'd NEVER had to give so much info in the past, and if they couldn't ship my order with what I'd sent... I wanted my money back. They cancelled the order within 30 minutes, and I'm stuck waiting for a credit and not expected the 32GB phone I'd ordered.
Frankly, I've never had such terrible service and I'd suggest sticking with Clove for the couple days difference.
oh really? that bad huh? someone told me that clove is great with service so they'll cancel just fine. so.. I already ordered from Handtec. I hope this doesnt happen because the difference is basically a week (April 28 vs March 3) considering that march 7/8 will be weekend so I wont get it till the week after.
im having it delivered to my house which has same address as paypal, billing, and delivery so hopefully there wont be as many problems.
I wonder if its better to just tell Clove to not cancel anything and instead just cancel with Handtec right away?
I got my HTC Desire from them a year ago, it went perfectly and the phone arrived the day before it was expected (1 day after it was released).
are you in UK or international though? and are you talking about handtec?
I cancelled Clove on Thursday and ordered from Handtec. Clove acknowledged they will cancel via email. The email was a little odd, said they had already charged my card and it will take 4-5 days for the refund to appear, but probably just a generic email since it was a pre-order and they hadn't charged my card yet.
I'm hoping I don't have any ordering issues with Handtec. I don't mind providing card statements for proof of address if required. For Handtec, I paid with AMEX via PayPal. I'm hoping they take the address being the same as my PayPal address as "proof of ID". I did get a PayPal confirmation of payment in addition to Handtec's.
i did the same, paid with paypal so all 3 adresses are exactly the same. i emailed clove again and asked them not to cancel just yet, ill wait for a response from handtec first. Also cause i added a few accessories to the handtec order and seems like none of the accessories are available during launch ... so i guess they'll probably ask me to pay shipment later for accessories which im fine with.. just as long as it doesnt delay the phone's shipment.
thanks for your response by the way, now i dont feel too bummed out about ordering from handtec
i'm really tempted to do the same and cancel my clove order.
one week earlier + savings of about 15 pounds. hmmmm
Edit:
can't
resist
went ahead and ordered with handtec as well. I'll keep my clove order there until the 28th. If that bad boy ships from handtec, i'm cancelling my clove order right away.
I'm going to call Handtec in the morning and make sure it'll be in the first batch of shipments, specifically the ones shipping out on 29th. I'll post here with what they tell me.
edit: heh good idea, ill keep my clove order till 28 or so as well
Sorry, yes, that was Handtec, to a residential address (same address as payment was from). I am in Northern Ireland so it is part of the UK, but deliveries often take a day longer than on the mainland. It was shipped on the day it was released, so the equivalent of 27th April, and delivered the next day.

This is standard procedure many stores follow if you are first time customer with them.
Even clove will tell you to provide 2 address proofs for international orders for the first time. (same address that is on file with CC bank / company ).
But dealing with clove was butter smooth. Last year I had ordered from them couple of times. But they verified my documents the same day and shipped the order on time. Second time, nothing was needed.
Most companies do this to protect themselves. Retailer / etailer is always at higher risk of chargebacks in case of frauds. They tend to play safe (unless you are as big as amazon ) as dealing with chargebacks is PITA.
So looks like Handtec isn't that bad after all then. Awesome.
I'm on the same boat and am seriously contemplating ordering from Handtec. But from all the positive experience people have had from Clove, I'm a bit reluctant to switch over. Especially since Handtec has been pretty uncertain in emailing me their proper ETA dates
For those that know, are these two companies pretty much even? Or is one more reputable than the other?
With the cheaper phone price and earlier delivery, I'm tempted but something is telling me Clove will do the business. After all, a week difference between the two is huge and it's telling me somethings missing. Perhaps Clove may very well ship earlier than expected.
I just can't see how Handtec, at a cheaper price and earlier delivery, still has open orders for the first batch. Isn't this phone supposed to be da bomb in ridiculous demand?
well what i'm doing is keeping the clove preorder for now, if handtec actually ships when they're saying they will... then ill cancel clove right away. otherwise ill cancel handtec's. Also i got an email response from Clove saying they will be shipping starting May 3rd (so not before that) and someone mentioned somewhere earlier that ... they're not supposed to be released til 1st may but that if Handtec ships them on 29th, people wont get them til May 1 anyway so they're not breaking any release date rules.
anyway i'll contact handtec in the morning and see what they say.
I'm just stressing more than I should about this. If Clove is aware of their competitors shipping at an earlier date and having their customers cancel their pre-orders because of it, wouldn't they want to do something about it?
For me, Handtec's offer is too good to be true. Sure it's logical to put in two pre-orders and cancel the other one. But is there a chance it may backfire? Perhaps there's a change in shipping date to either site and then it turns out one ships a day before the other and it'll be too late to cancel.
well ill wait till 28 or 29 and see what happens with handtec, if nothing ill cancel and keep my clove order. otherwise.. if handtec does ship that day then awesome, i get it a week earlier. clove doesnt seem to have any indication that they will be shipping before 3rd, they said there's a holiday or something which is why they arent shipping on 1st or 2nd.
edit: also clove's site says that you can cancel a pre order anytime before it ships AND that if the shipment date has changed they will confirm with you if you want to go ahead or not. so having said that if they change from may 3rd to earlier they'll notify.. if not then there it is.
has anyone tried talking to clove and figuring out why theyre waiting till may 1st, when handtec is sending theirs out 27/28th? clove should move up their date..
i am a bit worried, i have ordered it from handtec & i have used a friends credit card to do so & my delivery address is at my home, we both live in different cities & I dont know what handtec will do @ security check!!
i dont want them to delay my shipment because of that
It would be advisable to call them and speak to them directly. I wouldnt state that you have used a credit card on a different person's name but would confirm the status of your order and the shipping address.
Ask them whether if "All Izz Well"?

Amazon uk ordering

Has anyone ordered the phone at amazon.co.uk?
Mine has an estimated dispatch date of 4-5 may and an estimated delivery date of 6-9 may (standard delivery to Belgium, 1-2 days). It has not been dispatched yet.
I have placed my order on 15 april for an estimated dispatch date of 30 april, updated about two weeks ago to 4-5 may.
I would appreciate it if you would share and update the delivery status in this topic.
same for me, frenetically hitting the refresh button on my amazon.co.uk page... Mine says dispatch to be expected on 5/5...

Same for me... I got a thrill the other night when Amazon told me my item had been dispatched, but they were just talking about the cover I had ordered for the phone
I've come home from work and keep checking my email every two minutes, but no sign of a dispatch yet. I fear it's going to be next week before I get my hands on this phone!
Amazon quote
"Please be advised, although we do have stock of the item "Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II 16 GB Sim Free Smartphone" on hand, we are not able to dispatch it to you until the official release date, May 06, 2011. Many manufacturers restrict retailers from selling or dispatching their products until the official release date."

Thanks, I guess thats a reply from amazon? Anyway, I guess we can wait a day or two, no one needs the gadget right now.
Or...
What am I saying, bring it on, amazon!!!
So delivery will be Monday at the earliest then?
Stupid weekend getting in the way...
From the amazon uk forum, looks like we are not going to have the GS2 in a while.
I received the following from customer support a short while ago...
Hello,
I'm sorry for the unexpected delay of your order. I have researched the availability of "Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II 16 GB Sim Free Smartphone" and learned that its release has been delayed.
As soon as the item has been released, we'll be able to dispatch it to you. As per our standard policy, we do not charge you for items until they enter the dispatch process, so you will not be charged for this item until it is about to be sent.
In addition to a wide selection of items, one of our aims at Amazon.co.uk is to provide a convenient and efficient service; in this case, we have not met that standard. Once again we are sorry for any inconvenience caused by this issue and hope this will not discourage you from shopping with Amazon.co.uk in the future.
Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

I've no problem with Amazon if they've been let down by a supplier.
However, if a customer support employee can research to find that their release date is now obsolete, why are Amazon still advertising the 6th May as the release date on the product page?
I received an email from customer support a couple of days ago which stated that the phone will be in stock before the 6th May release date.
On the product page itself, someone posted an email from customer support saying that the phone was in stock, but they just weren't allowed to dispatch it until the 6th May release date.
I repeat, the delay itself is not something that is upsetting me. These things happen. However, the misguided information certainly is an issue. I expected a lot better from Amazon...
We regret to inform you that your order will take longer to fulfill than originally estimated. Our supplier has notified us that there is a delay obtaining stock for the following items you ordered on April 14 2011.
So who's going to wait for Amazon? Who's going to cancel their order and try somewhere else?
I'm thinking I'll be heading into town this weekend to see if I can buy one on the high street...
got the same message and I'm thinking of cancelling
Well, I did cancel my order and placed a new one at Handtec... lets see, they talk about shipping on 9 or 10th of may...
I was going to cancel, but then I received this e-mail. I think I'll wait just a little longer I guess.
Please be advised that we have a revised delivery date for the items you ordered on April 15 2011 (Order #202-6217273-4883543).
"Samsung I9100 Galaxy S II 16 GB Sim Free Smartphone"
Estimated arrival date: May 10 2011 - May 11 2011
I've also had the same message from Amazon. I've now cancelled the order and have now ordered the phone from play.com
In stock apparently and £499.99 with free delivery. It's been waiting to go to dispatch since 8:30am.
I will probably get the sorry sir, it wasn't really in stock please check again in a couple of weeks
in germany you can get the i9100 right now on amazon.de for 599,-€
in stock and already dispatched, without simlock
I've just received an email to say that my new delivery estimate is 9th-10th May.
Hmm...
Yaldy! "We are preparing this item for dispatch"!
Amazon uk delivery due 7th May
I had the email from Amazon UK at 02:10 this morning stating the expected delivery date of today would not be met. I orderd on 28th April and I am an Amazon Prime Customer.
This morning I debated cancelling my order, but left it thinking a few days delay would not be too bad.
At 15:11 I received an order dispatch email with tracking number showing the phone had been handed over to Royal Mail at 14:34. Expected delivery is Saturday May 7th. I am glad i did not hit he cancel button too soon.
The bad news is it's being delivered to work so won't get to play until Monday.
Mike
Mine got dispatched last night and is expected to deliver on 12 May.

Expansys Experience

I feel compelled to share my experience of dealing with Expansys UK for ordering the Galaxy S2.
Its really been a very disappointing level of service, for anyone thinking of ordering from them then bare in mind that I ordered my phone on the 8th May when it was listed as in stock. A day or two later when I checked on order tracking it reported 11 days till stock. Over the course of the last 22 days their site has listed it in stock on a number of occasions and my tracked order status has changed repeatedly. Now I understand there is stock issues on the unit but be warned that Expansys 'stock' levels are misleading. I subsequently emailed them for an update which they failed to respond too, so today I called them for an update only to be told that even though I had ordered from the UK site that my order had been transferred to Australia (where I live) and that I must call that office for an update. So despite my intention of getting it early from the UK it appears Expansys is playing games with my order. I have now decided to cancel my order as I don't want to give this company my money. Let's see if Handtec can provide better customer service! Really terrible experience with dealing with Expansys, please consider carefully if intending to hand over your money to them.

Dealt with them in the past and will again .

i posted this here already:
i preordered from expansys uk 19 march. still waiting. they dont reply to emails. expected date on order has been jumping up and down. website has said instock 100+ a couple of times and has now for the past 2 days (very misleading since even if its a bug, surely it should be fixed by now?!?)

it is so annoying - especially with so many ohers getting theres form various places (including expansys us who are supplying polish uk models or whatever it is). i chose expansys for my preorder as id had good experiences before with devices/accessories. been very dissapointed with this purchase though. website has said 100+ instock for 3 days now
im looking to pick one up tomorrow. Whats the best website to order from for Canada???
Also, not to sound like a cheap ass but there was some discount codes to enter and i cant find them anymore.
Im just very carefull with ordering stuff online. Any help is appreciated.
We bought my wife a Desire S from Expansys last month. It arrived DOA. Instead of telling us they would take care of it, we were told to send it back to them and THEY would decide if it would be replaced or sent to HTC for repairs depending on the state of the packaging.
This makes me nervous, it sounds like they would only replace it if they could resell the defective unit. The box also contained an extra unused security seal for the packaging, which is strange. Why would HTC provide you with a way to make it appear the box had never been opened?
We decided we would be better off to deal with HTC directly rather than send it back to Expansys and have them decide what would be in our best interest. 6 weeks later and it is in for a second round of repairs and my wife has yet to have a full days use of the phone.
This is why Expansys didn't get more order a couple weeks later when the SGS II came out. I'll never buy anything from them again.
this is definitely worrying. I dont think expanys is getting my cash. The thing that bugs me the most is places saying they have stock and yet it takes a month to get your phone.
Handtec looks promising. Is this phone still selling out or can i comfortably order and the phone will be in stock ??
I ordered from Expansys Canada on Friday, and so far they haven't given me a reason to not like them. My order shipped within 8 hours of me ordering, and Fedex says it will be here by 5pm today, which I kind of doubt since the status is still at "Shipping info sent to Fedex". I ordered when there was 44 In Stock.
Funnily enough though, when I look at my order status and click on the link to look at the phone, it says it's not available anymore, but the phone is there with a different link. Just thought that was odd.
can anybody confirm handtec has stock available? I checked the website and it says yes but you can never be sure...
I ordered a while ago from Clove. The day after I ordered I noticed the site said they were out of stock. I started to cancel my order to order from Handtec and then noticed they were out of stock as well. Went back to Clove to cancel my cancel request, they asked me if my order was urgent, I told them it was and they shipped it right away.. Guess they had a few in reserve. Anyway my point is Clove has been great to me, very professional and courteous even when I was wanting to cancel my order.

I've never actually ordered from them, but every time I try to get info from them they are "not the most customer service oriented". You have to give them credit for selling to pretty much the whole world though! I'm surprised there are none in Australia yet. Taiwan's Launch date is June 1.
Just to act as a counter-weight in this thread I thought I would post my experiences with Expansys...
Pre-ordered the SGSII early and got it delivered the 5th of May. They answered all my e-mails promptly and I had no issues with payment or anything else.
Have used them a couple of times before and never had any issues then either.
I ordered one from Expansys USA on Thursday with overnight shipping and received it Friday. I paid with my Paypal account and Paypal wouldn't let me apply the coupon that is available so my charge was $25 higher than it should have been. Within 20 minutes of ordering Expansys refunded the $25 without me having to contact customer service. I was pretty impressed with their service as a first time customer.

I ordered from Expansys.ca this past Tuesday night (around 11pm) and the phone was in my hands on Friday 3 days later. I had no problems with them. In fact, I gave them my wrong expiry date and someone from customer service contacted me and I was able to fix it early Wednesday morning.
Everyone will have different experiences. Especially since Expansys is worldwide. Different areas may have different issues
I can only speak from my experience with Expansys US. I had no issues what-so-ever. The communication was great, and shipping was spot on. They were everything I require in a seller. I imagine if I needed to return the device it would be the same experience.
Sent them a couple simple questions via email since ordering a SG2 on Friday. No contact since then. Horrible customer service. Sent a cancellation email for my order a couple minutes ago and I expect a full refund. I'll follow up in the morning. I understand it's a holiday weekend but this is unacceptable.
You realize their office hours are Monday-Friday 8-6pm right? Why would they respond if they are off for the weekend, especially on a holiday. You have no reason to be angry at them.
Expansys USA has been great as far as my order for the GSII went. I ordered on the 16th, shipped on the 24th and got it on 26th. No issues at all.

[Q] Canadians: Has your Nexus 7 3G shipped?

I'm in Vancouver, BC. I ordered the N73G circa 10 AM PST on Nov 13th. I'm now one day past the expected ship date and no e-mail about shipping. I've phoned the hotline a few times but no useful information about my order other than the fact that they have no update. One supervisor offered to get the shipping charges waived due to the delay.
Have any Canadians received their N73G yet, or even received the shipping e-mail? If you can, please mention your location and date/time of ordering.
I ordered mine at 1500hrs EST on 13 November. Estimated shipping date was yesterday (15 Nov). Still nothing. My order status remains at "your order has been received by Google Canada". Unhappy.
Well at least I know I'm not alone. Plenty of Americans seem to have received their N73G but it looks like Canada is out in the cold... (ha)
Mine is shipped but from KY, USA
Mine was shipped on the 16th (November) through UPS. I am not happy because its shipped from Lexington KY, USA instead of Toronto (Dundas). Moreover, its ground shipping and some crazy guys at UPS always want brokerage fee even when the item was purchased in Canada and paid $40 plus in taxes. Expected delivery date: 23rd November.

Support told me all the Canadian units ship from an American warehouse. So I don't think there actually is any big stash of them at Dundas St. Regarding brokerage, generally if they charged Canadian tax, they've already got the paperwork filled out that allows them to skip brokerage fees - just like with iPhone pre-orders that definitely ship from outside the country.
Still no word at all on mine.

YAY, finally got my shipping e-mail! Origin scan was yesterday evening in KY, and now it's in Hodgkins, IL. So Friday at the latest as well. Although sometimes I have been surprised to find UPS Standard arriving far faster than it is expected to.
Order status did not update from Illinois for three full days, but it's now in Redmond, WA as of early this morning. So I guess I should be expecting it today or tomorrow!

Verizon PreOrders

So pre-orders went live for VZW on Friday. The forms says "out of stock until March 30th". So hopefully they will ship to arrive on that date.
Fingers crossed.
I ordered 2 of them for my business account on Friday, and the rep said that they would ship early and arrive on or before 3-30-17.
Charge processed by Verizon this evening so I imagine it will ship today, tomorrow latest. I'll advise once I see a confirmation on the shipping.

I used the link from my order confirmation email - it just updated but still not sure on shipping speed... It says UPS Ground 1
Same. UPS Ground 1. I just checked my order online, no email.
I don't have a link on my order receipt, but when I clicked around on the VZW site I finally found something that said my order was sent to warehouse for shipment. No other info as yet...
That usually means it's ready to ship awaiting pickup by the carrier. UPS will probably update the shipping details tonight once they have it in their possession.
My page finally updated with Shipper and tracking. The page says 1Z4 is the shipper and the tracking number won't work for USPS, UPS, or FedEx. But my guess is that it is all just been entered and will get "fixed" when it actually gets picked by UPS.
I got the tracking number my phone should here tomorrow.
Damn I just ordered mine this morning from my online business account portal. Looks like I'll be late to this party then
Mine shipped today via FedEx. Delivery is for tomorrow AM, but I'm an Enterprise customer...I get all the phones, and they always ship to me a day or 2 before they release in stores. Gotta love that.

Sitting at UPS in my town waiting for Verizon to "upload" something to UPS so they can deliver it, according to UPS. No early pickup either so it looks like Verizon is going to hold off on letting these be delivered until 3/30. Of course they are, that's what Verizon does
