Its great that its a 6503 because for those of us in the US who have the international 6503, we don't really have warranties. Maybe now we can somehow get warranty work done if needed, since the models are so close.
Sony's Xperia care has you covered, it's a global warranty program that will cover you, regardless of where you got your phone.
I say this because I bought an unlocked D6503 off eBay (Taiwan 大哥大 branding), it suffered water damage, and Sony replaced it. (The white water detection papers weren't wet, the phone must have leaked somewhere else.) So, now I have English versions of the manuals

Is that something i can buy like a square trade or extended warranty? I just googled it and it looks like a support site. I don't see a purchase Xperia Care button anywhere. I also cannot find xperia z2 on there. I'm just asking because I was thinking of going ebay with square trade.

I'd like to know this too. Just bought today after waiting for US availability and then realizing the US price was insane.
I got a new D6503, noise canceling headphones, two official docks, a 32GB MicroSDHC card and an 18-month warranty plus two day shipping for less than the phone unshipped with sales tax would've cost me from Sony.

good news for those waiting to buy / on the fence about the Z2. (like me.)
with the possibility of Sony shipping millions more of these units, maybe they've tightened up their manufacturing/quality control process, and worked out a solution to the overheating camera, the self-cracking glass, the earpiece volume, etc.
one can hope?
Newegg has it for $599

but thier return policy sucks
I'd really like to know more about the Sony warranty that was mentioned earlier. I am almost positive they will try to deny a warranty for a phone that was purchased outside of your region. For example if you bought a 6503 two months ago before the USA 6503 was announced, and then called Sony USA to have a warranty replacement done, they would just claim that the model nunmber isn't in their database and there is nothing they can do. I went through this with Morola last year.

They know which region it was sold for, though.
Unless somebody can show a Sony document saying this product (or Sony Xperia smartphones in general) have an international warranty, they almost certainly don't.
If anyone can afford this and obtains, please post ftf.

Just found out. US firmware is already out. What was thought was Canada's firmware as their unbranded phones is actually using US generic firmware.
Awesome thanks... I was running the unbranded Singapore firmware on my D6503 bought from amazon. Downloading the US firmware and flashing now

Howdy,
I've finally aligned the stars and am ready to by the international note. Before I buy, I'd like to know how everyone feels about buying through Expanys USA vs. Amazon. I've used both companies before so I am very comfortable buying phones from them.
I just want to make sure that I get the version that has been updating the fastest. Not talking about ODIN, but software update to come to phone.
What versions are they selling - German, Hong Kong, etc?
Thanks!
You can probably get it for a bit cheaper off Amazon. If you're buying via Expansys make sure you look up for some discount vouchers. I bought my white international Galaxy Note from Expansys just 2 weeks ago and wow, next day shipping was AMAZING!
I got mine from expansys its German.

Amazon price has dropped significantly. Bought mine there. Came with KK2.

At this point just get it for the cheapest. If you choose amazon, make sure to check out the seller feedback. I personally went with expansys when it was first released.
Unless its under a certain price, i rather spend the extra for smooth transaction. Amazon is to much like ebay.
just wanted to vouch for global mobiles on amazon..i bought by note from them about 2 weeks ago ($30 more expensive then..=(), and they were fantastic. perfect condition German model, packed well, very attentive to detail.
also had 1-day shipping for 3.99 on prime..and it arrived less than 24 hours later!! =O
i just got mine last week from amazon...with 2 day shipping....super awesome service....my experience with amazon has been very excellent...no complaints so far.....i would suggest amazon

From a hardware standpoint, each version is exactly the same. The only real difference is the pre-loaded software/firmware. If you're planning to update via Kies, then it's probably best to flash a Euro firmware and take it from there. I know you mentioned that you don't want to deal with Odin, but honestly it's the best firmware solution for Samsung devices. It's really not that difficult either honestly.
Amazon, even if you have to pay taxes.
Amazon shopping
Got mine from Amazon. $608.99 sold by TRD Trading GMBH white unlocked. Ordered Thursday March 30 Amazon Prime plus $3.99 shipping upgrade I got it Friday. Came in Samsung sealed box. Shipper included a US plug adapter to work with the international Samsung charge adapter and a couple of printed notes for how to change the language at startup from German to English and to setup the APN to AT&T. Had to look in here though to get MMS working.
All in all I'm extremely happy and finally enjoying my Note this weekend.
I got mine in November thru Amazon and TechnoTradingHouse.
Excellent experience with them. Mine was slightly delayed (5 days) and they bent over backwards to keep me posted as the delay was out of their control (customs).

Thanks for the recommendation! I think I am going to go with Amazon due to nostock fees. I remember when I used Exp in the past, they tacked on a nice nostock fee with my return. Although, in the end they are excellent too

Wow. I'm soo sorry to hear of your bad experience. I guess this reinforces my first instinct to go with Amazon. I swear you can buy everything including your spouse on Amazon
There are so many sellers out there selling Note from different countries. Is the one from German is the best one?
I heard it's better to get the one from UK since:
a). They have good customer service and ACCEPT service request from out of UK
b). All the manuals are in English
So which country should I get the Note from? UK, Germany? ROM I can deal with, defective hardware.. well.. if it's not covered by Samsung in the origin country, I just lost $600!!
PS: Global Mobile in Amazon sells their Note from Germany

Sounds like user error to me. They only replace up to 30 days. Never had a issue with them. They actually contacted me to give me a full refund so I can take part of a 100 off promotion they did shortly after my purchase. You kept a sgs2 with a blemish longer then 2sec. Sounds like your fault.
Cant go wrong with expansys. Mine included overnight shipping for free on both devices.
Amazon is much better than Expanys anytime
I got mine from Amazon cos its cheaper
What are your guys thoughts in term of WARRANTY? I spoke with one of most popular seller in Amazon and they said the Note they're selling are Germany version and comes with 2 years warranty.
For warranty work, their approach is:
1). Send the phone back to THEM
2). They'll prep the phone to send it back to Samsung in <insert country here>
So the turnaround time could be in many weeks. I.e. ship to reseller --> reseller ship to Samsung outside of US --> Samsung fixed the phone --> Samsung ship to reseller --> reseller ship to customer.
I live in Thailand and have been waiting for Z1 release here. I don't want to import from EU due to high import duty and lack of warranty in case I get defective phone. I just went to Sony Store to see if I could pre-order one. They told me that Z1 will officially launch at Thailand Mobile Expo 2013 from Oct 3~6 and I can pre-order at Sony booth. I'll order mine on very first day Hope it'll come with latest firmware and fix superior auto by the time it is released.

Reasonable price, cheaper than what I was expecting. I'm going to get purple Never had a purple phone before. LTE...I don't really care much about that. If it is included, well that would be great. Do you think Oneplus One will be jacked up in price as they do with all other devices to the point that the price is no longer an advantage? I think Oneplus One will probably cost more than Nexus devices in Australia due to additional GST and demand.
They'll Jack it up, for whatever reason Lol
I reckon it will start at $400+ here unfortunately

IMO, it's pretty good.. Previously using iPhone 5.. Went to school with 100% came home with about 60%.. and that's just a two hour lecture.. with about 1 hour bus ride in total.. But now with the OPO, its go with 100% come home with about 80%.. Camera wise, it's fine for me but I don't have a really high requirement considering it's a phone

Personally, I'm getting mine sent to one of my dev friends in America. But you can use a mail forwarding company like Shipito to get it here. I ordered mine (64gb) yesterday, and it ended up costing me $400AUD including standard shipping to the States. The price is a bit inflated due to PayPal's ridiculous conversation rate, which was $0.90 instead of the $0.93 it should have been. On top of that I still need to get it shipped from Illinois to Melbourne, so all up I'm probably looking at anywhere between $430 to $450 I think.
Anyways, hi guys, ours nice to see an Australian thread here.

@gerardo66 - not sure what the problem is for you there. The only physical difference is the Chinese one doesn't have CyanogenMod stamped on the back.
The 4G band difference doesn't matter over here, because the 700MHz band in the international version doesn't work here anyway.

I bought two G2s of 32 Gb from a site that was bringing products from China (valuebasket.com) Everything works great. Even the 4G. If the seller is serious go for it. D802 is working everywhere there's SIM and not CDMA possible.
I think I'm going to purchase this as soon as the Nexus 6 gets revealed, I can't see the Nexus 6 matching this in specs, battery and most importantly cost.
I've been reading these forums and I've decided when I get one I will install the G3 ROM and then the LG G2 will be perrect.

Yeah typical British prices ... the Goverment here shaft the people from every direction. Anyways back on topic - Cheapest 2nd hand I have seen sold for was for about £230 no warrenty and was in good but not perfect condition. Better off just buying Brand new from China and potentially £20 cheaper or worse case £20 expensiver. Worth it if ya ask me haha.

Orders from website or experience store will receive the device on 9 April. Networks have yet to open pre orders or give any indication of price but should be up any day now.
All orders from networks will be delivered on 10 April as per global release.
Will you pre order?

I'm most likely going to pre-order a Black S6 64GB. I am expecting it between £599-649 with a free wireless charger included.
I won't pre-order, I can wait
Only place I'll be buying from is Amazon UK.. Come on Amazon open the pre-orders already!

Do you really think Samsung will throw in a free wireless charging pad? I guess it's a possibility but they've not been know to thrown in free stuff.
I'm in two minds whether to pre order or not. I'd prefer to check out full reviews beforehand but that might be to my detriment if Samsung do thrown in a bonus with pre orders.

With the current favourable euro rate, I wonder is it worth buying from amazon.de or amazon.fr ?

Yes - well worth exploring this. I'll be looking tomorrow. Need to be sure warranty covers EU though right.

If you order from Amazon DE for example, then if you have issues you need to return to Amazon DE. Amazon UK won't accept returns for any reason which is a bit of a pain.

My guess is though, that samsung uk would have to honour the warranty on any samsung products, no?

Absolutely, although good luck dealing with Samsung warranty Amazon gives you 1 year 'Amazon' warranty no questions asked.. We all know how good their customer support is..
As for worldwide warranty, I've had issues with it before (albeit Sony).. Bought a Sony laptop from Dubai, had a fault, Sony in Cyprus wouldn't accept it for replacement/fixing.

Have to say I had an exceptional experience with samsung when my note 2 developed a fault with the flash memory. Send them the phone and it was back to me, fixed within a few days. I think the phone was about 18 months old at that stage.

Yes, very good experience for me as well with Amazon UK. My Galaxy S3 stopped working suddenly DAYS before the end of the 1-year warranty (switched off by itself, couldn't switch it back on even after swapping the battery). Despite the fact that it was rooted and running a custom ROM, they changed it with no question asked for a new one that I received the day after (even before I sent the old one back), They also asked me if I wanted a full refund instead, which retrospectively I should have done, since the price had dropped and I could get a new one for cheaper

That's good to hear. The only reason I am a bit wary of Samsung warranty is when you trip Knox.. I highly doubt Amazon would care about that; Sammy on the other hand is a different story. I talked to a representative of theirs a few days back about the whole Knox tripping warranty thing and oh boy they didn't like it.. I even showed him the legislation and talked about a scenario where I take Samsung to a small claims court, etc and he insisted Samsung will not fulfill warranty for whatever reason if Knox has been tripped.
I had a run in recently with Samsung mobile support and only after 4 months, and threatening legal action, did I get a replacement phone. My previous note 4 had issues with unstable WiFi but they wouldn't accept this was happening because they couldn't replicate the problem. I was specifically asked about whether I had modified it in any way (as in software) before they arranged for a repair. I'm not sure whether the repair centres that the phones are sent to actually check the Knox counter. In my opinion, they didn't do much other than flash the firmware again which I had already done. Bad experience with Samsung mobile support. Had a problem ages ago with first galaxy s1 with o2 and they replaced it after second time it was sent in for repair worth a new s2.

Good to know it. There's a lot of reasons to decide to buy a mobile phone or another, but people never thinks bout the warranty and technical support. Good for Samsung!

What's the betting they only have the 32GB model when it does eventually appear.

Carphone Warehouse or samsung are having a laugh
Standard S6 sim free prices are thus, I would hate to see the prices for the edge,
£600 32GB
£660 64GB
£740 128GB

I definately made the right decision to wait til later down in the year for the s6 because there is no way imo the S6 is worth that much.
I was expecting more like £550-570 for 32GB, £600-620 64GB and £670-700 for 128GB.

Unfortunately I can't wait that long. My Nexus 5 is dying right before my very eyes.. I was hoping to get away with the 64GB S6 Edge for £700 max but doesn't look like that will be the case..
