I have two questios related to the above
1. There is an item named "Cloud" in the lower part of the account section.
What is it good for?
2. I am using two applications bought thru google play store
one syncs the contact list and
one is supposed to sync photos, downloads, etc.
to my ownCloud server at home.
Both applications work.
However, when the phone turns off because of drained battery or restarts after OTA updates the information for both accounts are gone. Such accounts have to be added again.
Why is this and is there a way to save and restore such account details without using any backup app? Where does Android 4.4.2 store or save such account information?
Galaxy S4 GT-I9505, I9505XXUGNG2, original firmware not rooted.

I needed to change the Google account in my NSTG but couldn't find an obvious way to do it from the existing apps or tools in my rooted device. Removing accounts.db from /data and rebooting seemed to do the trick - I was then able to add a new Google account by using the Market app. Mail, calendar, etc. sync, Google Talk works and installed apps can be updated via Market. I don't know what effect this has on the B&N account and on-line library as I don't use their services but at least the stock reader app and library continue to work OK.
You might have been able to do it through the Gmail app's settings.
Thanks. At least in the Gmail app that I have there's only an option to add an account. Maybe it would allow me to delete the old account after adding a new account but I'm not going to test that now that everything is working perfectly. If someone could confirm that - whether one Google account can be deleted if there are multiple accounts present - I'd appreciate it.
Hi all, I have a question and wondering if you guys could help me out please.
So basically I setup my phone with one gmail account and downloaded all my apps under that account. During the year I moved to a new gmail account, so I set it up on my phone and deleted the other gmail account. Now the issue I have is, that the new gmail account in the play store recognizes the new apps I've downloaded but not the old ones already on the phone. Is there a way to refresh the play store list so it sees my old apps and adds it to the list so next time I restore, it'll download them all again?
Cheers for all your help
Hello
I have just purchased two new galaxy note 4 phones.
I logged in with two different accounts that never had a android phone associated with them before on each phone.
On one phone, after going through initial setup of the phone and entering Google account information it started downloading updates for various software from Google play strait away.
On the the second phone after initial phone setup and logging into Google account, Google play did not update any thing, and when going into "My Apps" in Google play, instead of giving a list of apps that need to be updated, all it showed was "get apps" and "get games".
So, I reset the phone and logged into Google account using the account from the first phone and it started downloading updates strait away.
Further investigation....
I reset the phone many times and every time at initial setup I logged in using different account (some brand new I just created) and found that some accounts stated updating various apps on the phone and some didn't.
This has brought me to the assumption that this is an account problem.
The accounts that would not update the phone all had the same issue, in Google play > My apps it just shows "get apps" and get games".
I went on to removing the bad accounts from "accounts" without a reset of the phone and logged it with a good account (that previously downloaded the updates) and download of updates started automatically.
My question is how do I get those accounts that will not update the phone to update the phone correctly?
I have tested this on both phones with the same results.
I hope I explained the problem properly.
Please advise.
Best regards
Yishai
I have a bunch of contacts on my S6 phone. Most of them are on the sim card or in the "phone". About 20% of them are on my google account when I choose to display only google account contacts.
When I go to my accounts on the S6 and click on on my google account to sync my "contacts", It says "last synced" just then and there as you expect, however, it only syncs the contacts that are present in my google account, NONE of the new ones in my sim card or phone. I guess I have been saving new contacts to my phone rather than my google account, so what good is sync?
So when i go to my S5 and log in with the google account, it ONLY has the google account contacts present, and none of the other ones in the S6. I want to have ALL my contacts in my S5 that I have in my S6.
Furthermore, the S5 uses kies and the S6 uses smart switch, so I cant even work out how to sync the contacts on my computer and put them on the other phone!
Same for memos!
WTF samsung why did they drop KIES for the S6?
Search for Copy Contacts on Play Store
Sent from my SM-G928F using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks westwood. I already solved the problem using an awesome app called "phone copier" I did it via bluetootha and viola it did ALL the contacts.
Prior to this I spent literrlay 4+ hours trying to get my contacts from one phone to the other. There was simply no way to do it via offical means, or if there was it as so convoluted and unimaginative that its ridiculous. I tried using smartswtich on both the s5 and s6 via the pc. I backed up one on phone and plugged in the other and restored. Guess what. AGAIN only the 30% or so google account contacts copied. Then I tried smartswitch over the air via play store. Guess what the phones found each other, but then one of them said not enough space and closed down without even letting me see what was going on. HEY I only want to copy contacts!! What do you mean not enough space. Ridiculous.
Hi
I’m just about to turn on my new S7 Edge and I don’t want it to sync all my google apps or Samsung apps or any settings…..
I only want it to sync my google contacts…..
Any searches I’ve done on the topic brings up how to turn on or off the backups from the phone handset.. which only stops my S5 from making the backup in the first place. Which doesn’t help as my S5 is already backed up on google and Samsung account…
Question
So has my S5 is already backed up on both google and Samsung accounts how can I login the phone without triggering the app sync but allow the contacts to sync…..
is there a way to reset the cloud (google/Samsung) so there are no app or settings to sync.
Thanks paul

To stop your account synchronizing setting/accounts and select Google accounts and turn off what you don't want to sync. Samsung's is a little tricky, setting/accounts and select Samsung accounts and enter profile (password is needed) and you log out any device connected to their servers and it will be removed.
