Phone storage memory with Android 2.2

Hi guys
I have recently installed android 2.2 on my hd2. I am absolutely loving it.
The problem I have though is that it seems to take quite a lot of memory up in my phone storage memory. I cannot move maps, Facebook etc to the storage card. What can you recommend I do? I have about 20mb of memory free on the phone. The other problem I have is that when I link my phone to my laptop I can only see the storage card and not the phone memory?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
thanks.
Well to your first question, there is always the option to do Apps2sd, most roms come with a TMOUS version and a EUR version. The latter usually is set up to move the data partition to the sdcard (usually set to 512mb-1024mb depending on what you prefer). I would suggest partitioning your card, re-flashing the rom you are using and then you should be golden.
Now as to browsing memory contents, you will only ever be able to see your sdcard. Android's file system is not viewable by a PC as far as I am aware, you can always use adb but that doesn't give you a full browsing experience.
You can always download a file explorer that gives root access, Root Explorer is my personal fave. This will let you browse your internal memory.
Its no good just saying "Android 2.2", that doesnt mean anything. When asking for help you need to give relevant info like which specific rom you are using.
For example if you have a EU HD2 which im guessing you do then 99% of EU roms will come with a option to use sd-ext which is a partition on your sd card. This partition will be used for all apps/app data etc instead of you nand.
Partition yoru card using CWR>Advanced. Set partition to 1GB and swap to 0mb, wipe data/factory reset, wipe caches and then flash rom again.
Sorry, its the DFT LEO Nand Rom.
thanks for your advice guys, I will that out.

[Q] Huge Internal Memory Problem

I go into my Storage details to check on my memory , and i get this (Please see the attached photo).
So as you can see , there is something very weird going on. The maximum storage is 8.9GB and the application, according to my phone, are taking around 27GB. According to me, I barely have a few applications which are each no more than 5 MBs , and my photos and videos are no way near 1 GB on my internal memory. I store all my media on my external SD card with a storage space of 14.8GB with 2.6GB free. I'd really appreciate help because this is very frustrating since I can't update my phone because of this storage problem and the Low Storage notification is always there. Thank you.

I knew about the factory reset, but I wanted to consider it as the last resort, unless it wouldn't be too much of a problem to get everything back as it were. Could you just give me a few pointers not to forget before I carry on with the reset ? Thanks.
backup any important files like : Contacts, Pictures, Videos elc...
if you dont know how to backup contacts or logs there is an app called Easy Backup
after backup copy the files from the device storage to SDcard or to PC
then carry on

OP2 Internal Memory Formated... Need a recovery Option

Hello,
I was freeing up some space on my OP2 device as it was about 52GB Full of 54GB,
i deleted all not used and temp folders, i also found folder named sdcard and storage in same.
I opened them and both were empty, i deleted them as well and as i did that i got a error that it can not be deleted.
Then i just found that whole data on my cell is deleted, all the files and folders are wiped and those two as well.
Now i am asking that is their any way to recover my data, i.e all images, videos, pdf &docx files etc..
As this device can not be connected as a mass storage so that i can use any software on my pc to do so.
i have tried Disk Digger Pro version as well, but unfortunately no success.
Please guys please help me out to come out of this issue. All suggestions and solutions are welcome.
You can also share any paid add as i can buy it to recover my data, but i really need a helping solution.
Thanks in advance.

It's normal that all your documents, photos, messages, ets, have been deleted, as /sdcard is...your sdcard. And, well, no, I don't think there is any recovery options...
As long as your internal "sdcard" storage is not encrypted you should be able to just factory restore the phone back to full functionality. After that you should be able to connect phone as usb storage device to your PC and use standard undelete software to undelete your files, because factory restore doesn't actually format your internal storage, it only deletes the file index (FAT).

yes, but if he used the wipe function in TWRP, which use mkfs.ext4 (if I remember), do you think there is still a possibility for him to recover his data?
I'm not sure about it. But then again, I'd say that and testdisk/photorec is his last chance of restoring at least photos.
If this doesn't work, I'm afraid anything will work at all..

Sorry i guess no luck unless you see a recovery partition

[HELP] Partition issue, no more space for apps

Hi all, thanks for kind support,
I've a 900V CID11 bootloader locked, unrooted, I installed MM 6.0.1 by safestrap.
MY phone is 16GB but it looks I've really small space for apps, someone can kindly describe me how the storage is allocated?
As I guess reading around, the safestrap eat me 2,5gb for some reason, then there is the rom space, then the "sdcard" folder for data. On sdcard I still have 500MB available but I think the phone doesn't want to use them for installing apps. I've 32GB SD but it looks also that with uroot phone I can't move apps there.
Any way to expand the space for installing apps? Any way to repartition the space? Use the 2,5gb of safestrap? Maybe repeat the procedure using flashfire?
By now I've a serious limitation. Thank you for help
I ask kind help, thank you
Well your only option is to look up how to use your 32gb as card as adoptable storage

thanks for answer,
may you kindly explain me breifly how the whole storage is allocated on the phone memory? What can it change if I'll have root (what can I edit/reallocate) and if one day someone will unlock the bootloader and I can load everything? (can I use the supposed 2,.5GB safestrap partition as system?)
Thank you
help needed to understand, thank you
do you need to know how to use the adoptable storage? And sorry for taking so long
I would know how 1)
Android partize the internal memory,
2) why data wipe is not wiping the /sdcard folder (I'm speaking about intenal memory),
3) if there exist a ROM partition and if it the same of "System" or two different
4) if it is possible to edit files inside System and ROM with root permissions
5) if System has a rigid partition size, or depends on the quantity of internal, and which criteria is used to assign the space.
6) If gapps are all stored in System
7) Where the 3rd party apps are stored
8) Where folder data is located, and it's not /sdcard folder.
9) if safestrap eats 2,5GB of space and hide it from a file explorer.
10 ) if it's possible to reduce safestrap partiton
11) if the space used from safestrap reduces directly the "system" partition, or even "data" and "/sdcard"
12) if it's possible to edit the partitions size, for example I've a big SD card and I sould like to use the internal memory almost for installing apps.
Thank you a lot!!! I can't find such infos.. and that is quite amazing. You can answer briefly
somebody can help clear? Thank you
Hopefully somebody can reply me, thanks
Do you still need help
Yes please, I would know how Android works with the storage, I think there are some hidden partitions that I can't see with xplore, containing ROM.
Xplore tells I've 11GB internal memory (and the phone has 16, where are othere 4/5?)
And also tells that:
root total amount is 2,47 GB, free 16%of 11GB=1,7GB
Internal storage (SD card folder)= 1,44GB, , free 16%of 11GB=1,7GB
2,47+1,44+1,7=5,61, where are other 5GB to make 11GB?
I think I lost somewhee 9 GB!
Thank you for help!
This might explain it more

What you are saying sounds about right with safestrap and rom slots. And 16gb just isn't all that much space to work with.
Root Essentials will allocate your sd card for you. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.superthomaslab.rootessentials
Also, with safestrap...are you using the main rom slot to boot into? if not, you should, then delete the other rom slots, that will free up a ton of space. plus if i were you, i would get rid of safestrap and flash TWRP on your phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909
Good luck
I thank you very much for your kind help!
Let's proceed by order, ok about the real 14,6GB, but does the ROM shows itself in xplore in the root folder? I think it should.. like I can see C:\ on the windows OS with all the system files. Or does Android hide the ROM files?
I agree about Safestrap caused it, I used it to mount the Android 6, I unfortunately have a CID11 S5 and I can't have it rooted, how can I recover the Safestrap wasted space? I think I'm using only the main ROM, I followed the procedure to root Lollipop and upgrade with Safestrap to MM.
Thank you a lot!
Any help here? Thank you a lot!

boot into recovery try to FORMAT DATA, then reboot recovery and see

note 1: you never talked about your model/firmware/TWRP, etc...
note 2: you wiped your phone, now do what i suggest you at your own risk
