Every time !! Arghhhh

Okay,, i have a note 10.1 n8010 and EVERYTIME I FLASH a rom i cant install any apps and it says insufficient storage, I do everything step by step, I don't understand, I just don't understand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can someone please explain me why this is, i wipe everything before doing a update etc...

Are you using an external SD Card or just your internal one ?

Try following the below steps as per smaw51 recommendations :
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
mounts and storage/ format /data
mounts and storage/ format /system
mounts and storage/ format /cache
advanced/ wipe dalvik cache
Repeat a couple times for good measure

I have already tried those steps as I found them online and it does nothing, I always have to delete everything and then return to stock ... I just don't get it >

So what`s your internal free storage after installing a fresh rom ?

Oops accidentally thanked you for this post.
Anyways, I have found that wiping data from recovery doesn't clear download files and such. Download Astro File manager and see what is taking up most of your internal memory. I found personally that .zip files and a few things like that were taking up oodles of storage space. Also, when yuo do a CWM backup, do the backup to the External SD card, that way it doesn't take up app space.

like 7gb? and external is 4gb because i have a partition, but the partition in my case is irrelevant because before when I didn't know about link2sd I still had this problem, but everyone else seems to flash roms daily with no issues lol?

okay ill thank you back lol, okay I will back it up externally for future reference, but the issue seems to be on every rom i download with my device...but no one else seems to have this issue with the same rom

I strongly suggest you flash a stock rom using Odin and clear everything. If you still have problems with the stock rom on your tablet return it for warranty repair. My feeling is though it is something you are doing. So once back to stock (out of the box) reinstall apps one at a time - avoid apps to sd and installing them on external memory. I don't believe that can be necessary!

[Q] Internal Storage Maxed Out - Rooted/Flashed

I'm having a heck of a time with the internal storage on my S4. What I have done so far: Rooted -> Flashed with Xousos v1.0 (no problem) -> Backup to SD card with CWM -> Flashed with Xousos v2.0 -> Flashed Theme Reverepats ICS (MF9) -> Flashed ComaDose = No Space
I moved all my apps to my SD card and even deleted dropbox and all documents sync to free up space. Before I do a rom flash I clear data/cache/davilik cache and format system. I know the S4's 16GB is really an 8GB - but to only have a few hundred megs left after a fresh flash and TiBackup restore of a handful of apps is not right.
I figure I must have copies of the previous installs somewhere on the internal storage, I just dont know where to look. So if anyone could point me in the right direction as to what directories I can delete or any steps to help free up some space, I would really appreciate it.

Check the "MISC" folder and check to see what are the folders that take up the most space. I have a feeling you are going to have a nandroid on there that is taking up about 3-4gbs

Wipe system/and factory reset then flash ROM will fix it. Make sure the ROM and everything else you need is on your external SD first.

I apologize for the dumb question in advance, but do you know the location of that folder?
I went to storage/emulated/0 in root explorer and the file structure looks the same as the phone folder explorer but no large files - screen shot attached (largest file first)

This will be my last resort, I just did the wipe/flash and would like to try and solution the problem before I do the wipe

Get disk usage app and poke around the filesystem. It will graphically show you what folders are storing large amounts of data. It will be a lot faster using that tool with finding large files than going through each folder with a file browser app.

In the storage screen (from your original post, where it showed the breakdown), just tap on miscellaneous and it should show you the folders that make up that 7.52GB

Thanks, this is a handy little app, especially with root access.
I attached a screen shot - it looks like the system data folder is dominating the space - is it possible there is still an old rom on there or possible a backup (like was mentioned earlier) and if so, how do I get to it?

That was my last screen shot - when I tap miscellaneous the biggest folder in there is 3.69 MB - which is why I am so confused

I'd probably just make a nandroid backup, move any files from internal to external that I wanted to keep, turn off phone, remove SD card, boot phone back up, go into SD card in menu settings, format the card then go into accounts and do a full factory reset. I would think that would get rid of any unknown bloat from the internal storage. Yes you'll have to set the phone up again but it might fix your running out of space problem. A nandroid restore might throw the crap back in there. I don't know.

Wiping the internal sdcard did the trick. Reloading everything was not what I wanted but it did solve the problem

Mine started giving me the low storage space warning once the MF9 update downloaded. I had to wipe the internal sd card completely. What a PITA.

that makes a lot of sense because mine did the same and the update notification wouldnt go away until I flashed the update. I guess next time I need to format the internal sd before I flash

Format SD card

Is it safe to format SD card via Clockwork mode recovery?
Recovery - - > mounts and storage -> format /sdcard
Is it safe to do so? after installing ROM?

If you format your sdcard you delete ALL what is on your phone. When you only want to have a clear and fast rom without apps and deleted data but want to keep your personal files then use the point in Cwm "format data" it deletes all of your devices apps and this is the only way that has something to do with flashing a new rom.

Yes I am okay with that.
Actually my SD card shows a lot of folders of applications that I uninstalled months ago.
So get rid of that junk I am formatting that.

Have fun but like I said mind that you willl lose all of your folders like music pics and everything like that. It is like your phone was never used after that

OP2 Internal Memory Formated... Need a recovery Option

Hello,
I was freeing up some space on my OP2 device as it was about 52GB Full of 54GB,
i deleted all not used and temp folders, i also found folder named sdcard and storage in same.
I opened them and both were empty, i deleted them as well and as i did that i got a error that it can not be deleted.
Then i just found that whole data on my cell is deleted, all the files and folders are wiped and those two as well.
Now i am asking that is their any way to recover my data, i.e all images, videos, pdf &docx files etc..
As this device can not be connected as a mass storage so that i can use any software on my pc to do so.
i have tried Disk Digger Pro version as well, but unfortunately no success.
Please guys please help me out to come out of this issue. All suggestions and solutions are welcome.
You can also share any paid add as i can buy it to recover my data, but i really need a helping solution.

It's normal that all your documents, photos, messages, ets, have been deleted, as /sdcard is...your sdcard. And, well, no, I don't think there is any recovery options...

As long as your internal "sdcard" storage is not encrypted you should be able to just factory restore the phone back to full functionality. After that you should be able to connect phone as usb storage device to your PC and use standard undelete software to undelete your files, because factory restore doesn't actually format your internal storage, it only deletes the file index (FAT).

yes, but if he used the wipe function in TWRP, which use mkfs.ext4 (if I remember), do you think there is still a possibility for him to recover his data?

I'm not sure about it. But then again, I'd say that and testdisk/photorec is his last chance of restoring at least photos.

If this doesn't work, I'm afraid anything will work at all..

Storage still full after clean install

I upgraded to the latest pure nexus rom last night and decided it's best to do a clean install. So I wiped everything but internal memory. Which only holds twrp backup (10gb) and ti backup (1.3gb) but after install out still shows I'm using almost 40gb on storage. Is there some sort of hidden folder that I'm not seeing that is holding a ton of stuff. I can only account for about less than 30gb being used. 10gb for OS, 10gb backup, and less than 5gb for ti backups and rom zips.

If you didn't wipe your /internal storage it would be logic everything is kept original.
Do a wipe of /internal storage and your storage space will lower.

Right but even looking thru all my folders I don't see where it's adding up to 39gb being used. Only thing I have on it is twrp backup and ti backup and rom zips

Then like I said. Do a internal storage format but do a backup of your TWRP and TI folder on your computer before.
Just a head ups. I always do an advanced format and check everything before doing a clean install. I don't restore/keep my backups. I am the type of guy that starts from scratch to limit the problems.

Any solution to your lost storage space issue? I've noticed that after copying my internal storage to my computer and then wiping internal storage in twrp it still show over 5.5gig storage used and I ain't talking about system use. When I plug my phone into my pc it shows 5.5gig used internal storage but when selecting all files and show properties only totals to less the 5meg. Now that's after performing an internal storage wipe in twrp.
I had experienced the same kind of issue on my tablet external storage. Sd was showing 8gig of 16gig used and when I plug that sd into my pc it would show the same. But after doing the select all files/properties it would show a total of less then 3gig. I moved all files to my pc, now showing over 5gig used but the SD is empty(no hidden files). Format my SD, now showing completely emplty, move my files back to SD, plug into tablet. Now showing less the 3gig used .
Obviously some lost/invisible data hiding somewhere that a quick format could fix but with the 6P you can't perform a true format. Twrp wipe does not format, just wipes.

Um, are you considering that you lose space for the os?
Also that 16gb card is right, you're not gonna get a full 16gb of storage. Most 16's end up being about 14gb after a format

Yes as mentioned in my post multiple time I am not talking about system storage use (OS). Especially when I refer to an external memory experiencing the same issue (completely wipe SD in twrp, plug same SD into PC, showing 5.5 gig still used on empty card, format SD, now showing completely empty on both PC and Android).
Not sure why, but somehow storage space gets lost, hard to explain. One would need to take the time to accurately compare what one has saved on internal storage and the amount Android says is used.
