Hi
Does anyone else think that the bootloader release is just a bit too late. All our great devs have left just before it was released. Reason I say this is because the unlock has been around for a week and all I have seen is DooM making kernels. Z hasn't been seen and as for the others well. They moved on. Same for all our better cooks. What are other peoples views on this.

Nope, to me, I consider it as an exclusive treat for the loyal X10 users.

I agree, I havent even bothered unlocking mine as the old method is fine until something else worthwhile is released. I doubt we will get anything we dont already have.
Perhaps an updated kernel eventually but i cant see anything useful for me.
The X10 has got old fast, there are so many better phones out there now. Ive never been that happy with the x10. The features I find it has arent overly great. Its huge 8mp camera blows compared to other phones. Far to slow and annoying to focus. I use to use it alot when I first got it but dont ever touch it now.
I doubt the devs will be able to squeez much more out of there roms.
i want to see a rom thats as full to aosp as possible likegoogle version of android and then ill do mine

i think some people expect too much from the bootloader unlock.
The bootloader bypass gave us custom kernels and was a big step.
The bootloader unlock doesnt really give us much extra in addition to the bootloader bypass apart from a quicker startup time. Those people who just think bootloader unlock automatically gives us the ability to do 16m colours or proper multitouch are simply ill informed as to how this stuff works.

You guys got a point and I admit I had to agree with you. We may have not seen anything worthwhile for now, but I am very positive that there will be, if not many, one whole new thing we havent seen for our X10.
I'm not sure what happened to z, but everyone has their own life. Just hope that he don't leave us just like that.

X10 will get official CM support and jerpelea is working on his CM rom and im sure zdzihu will comeback with something soon. Its not at all to late!

I saw this same thing on MoDaCo.
I look at it this way:
If you have unlocked your bootloader, then you don't have to worry about losing xrec when you flash a faulty ROM/kernel. Since it's built right in, it's there to stay. That way you don't have to deal with going back to stock, rooting, and restoring backup from there.
Made testing things a bit easier, if anything.
Let's all support our devs in slow times. And if at all else, come together as a community, learn to cook, mod, dev, and things will pick up.
And as always: this is done for free* by regular, everyday, normal people such as yourselves that do this in their free time. I'm grateful for that.
*only exception is ad clicking to get to WB files via adf.ly due to his financial contraints (but it's time paid, not money)

Welcome to the world of Linux my friend, there's no need keep saying the same thing again, and again. Just keep up the good work!
@DikeJ, FreeXperia is currently working on kernel 2.6.32 for a long time now(since before the bootloader was unlocked). About MT, search around the forums, AFAIK, Z said X10's digitizer supports MT, it's just that the phone is released on Android 1.6, which don't support MT.
@Hzu, good to hear. I know about creating 2.6.32, but about MT didn't heard anything before - very good info. So it's just a time to reborn again our X10's .
BTW - I will create topic on Devs forum - it will be gaming and the fastest ROM for X10 - I have hope . Stay tuned, after 21st .

Security perposes. Someone tried hacking one of my account but my software caught them. Shame I couldn't find them though. Anyways also I am a big fan of the 1st battalion blackwatch regiment. One of the hardest army regiments in the UK. Hey, gotta love the Scottish man.

Please don't take that the wrong way. I think you lot are nuts but sound as f**k. Got a few mates from that regiment and they are hard as nails. Scary too
Anyways also it goes with my lifestyle too. I don't sleep due to health issues so I am a bit nocturnal you could say but I'm always on the lookout. Black-night, Watch-eyes open and 89 my yr of birth. Hope that helps you understand dude.

well you have an android device.. it's open source... meaning communities like xda has great developers... you only need to read a bit (5–10 mins) to be able to root and flash cwm recovery into your device Wich btw its hell easy in most samsung devices... then you are ready to flash any custom roms out there... And you can ask anyone devs here in xda are wayyy more talented than manufacturer's... meaning custom roms performs wayyy better than stock roms... and you will be updated as soon as any change in aosp code happens go ahead and void your warranty xD.. there's always methods to go back to stock

Trust me when I tell you, I know. I am running ICS on my Samsung Epic device, which only supports GB. LOL.
No matter how good our developers are, they still need Samsung to do their part. FOR EXAMPLE... Take a picture with your 10.1 using ANY ICS ROM that our developers have put together. Plus, to be completely honest, we shouldn't have to count on our NON-PAID, VOLUNTEER devs to make the software everything that it SHOULD HAVE BEEN when released from Samsuck.

I am in the same boat as you. I should of learned with the Captivate how they do things in regards to updates but I didnt. The only way I will still buy a Samsung product is if they are making the next nexus phone or tablet. That way factory images will be provided and then I can just flash the updates myself and not have to wait for them to update it for me.

This port is pretty buggy, but overall its SO smooth. I haven't had a single lag/shutter. Only draw-backs are no wifi and audio (I don't even need to mention the camera...)
The port is pretty awesome, and I'm expecting something great to come of this, making our tabs better, faster, and way more productive.

Alright, I will be the forum troll that tells you that this belongs in Q/A .
The entire reason to get a nexus device is to experience pure aosp android, plus the awesome support that comes along with it. I personally would consider it blasphemy if a miui/twiz port was ever released for this device. Also, as there is no miui tab interface out there, a ported phone ROM would not look very good (low-rez icons, funky UI,etc.), not to mention being a pain in the neck to fully port.
Th3bill and Jokersax will be working on a MIUI for the N7.

Alright, alright, just calm down, I mostly meant it as a joke, anyways, and I didn't want to put a silly little smiley face there to show it. I personally think that a MIUI port would not scale very well to the N7 (feel free to prove me wrong as I have never used MIUI), and would not do this device a true service. Of course, this is just my personal opinion (no need to get flustered about it), and it will always be good to have choices, I just wanted to give everyone my 2c.

How about we wait for MIUI to be upgraded to jellybean before getting too optimistic?

I am a bit skeptical about how the ROM porting and developing for the good old low RAM (I must note that I am joking as there are a lot of flammable s3 owners that won't get this) i9300 will continue now after the i9305 is officially out and has its own section. What is your opinion?
Unless they get donations for new phones or can afford to spend another £500 on a phone, i think we are safe...
yes... all the developers are going to dump i9300 and getting 9305 this week. All of us gonna rot in hell without any mods, development.........................

Just have a look at the Galaxy SII forums. Development is still very active. Development for this phone is gonna continue for a bit so I don't think you have anything to worry about. And not only that- but lets say every single dev left the i9300 ... we are still left with like 3 pages full of ROMs! We are sitting pretty. It's like the Galaxy SII Skyrocket scenario .. we all good baby!

Think twice about what? The fact that there's a chance ANY developer could do that same thing? .. and that's their right. Same thing has happened to a lot of us. Anyone remember eSPyEL- (I forget its been so long). I'm not saying always but most of the time the dev will put up a [FINAL] version. But we have to remember this is life, **** happens. Sometimes unexpected. I'm sure you've gathered this by now but flashing custom ROMs doesn't come with guarantees. And believe me, I've donated probably more than a lot of people on here have... multiple times. The fact is, this isn't they're day job and we all know that. Just because we donate doesn't guarantee we will have ROM support in the future. I think of donations as a way of Thank You for what we already have. Not trying to sound like a douch but if you want full ROM support for as long as you have your device, stock is the only solution.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
That is what I don't understand..some people just use what is available..make a big noise if something does not work (most of the times their own fault)..if everything works out fine, don't even go back to give a feedback forget donating...
It's sad!!
Sorry for being Off Topic coz I believe Devs will be there as long as users support them..morally and maybe financially!!

This is unfair..don't remember that you donate to show your appreciation for what they DID, not to obligate them to work in the future, this is a different thing, developers do what they can in their free time, and that is disrespectful for developers, remember that they are the reason for some devices live long ( look at the HD2 ) , if not you will have an iPhone and every year you'll upgrade to... the same..
Respect and thanks to developers.

I'm sorry if i have something unpleasant, it can't be help it developer has stop developing the Rom, we have to respect their decision, but at least let us know.
some developer did mention that they have already upgraded their phone in the forum that it will be his last custom for this version and hopping to see us again on the next forum, for sure we will be happy to see those familiar developer again once we have a chance to upgrade our phone. i agree with your point too, no hard feeling if i sound unfriendly here, I'll be more happy to make more friends here then create more enemy...

Do not forget that some devs stay here and help and develop and they refuse accepting donations.
Harunjo from Galaxih kernel, did this and when i asked him why he won't accept donation,
He said that is enough for him that he loves what he does and feedback is enough. What a great Guy! Honestly

We're safe.. lol.
Heck the S1 is still in active development.
The S3 (I9300) sold millions of units.
The I9305 probably sold a fraction of that, just like the S1 Plus, these 'bonus' versions die quicker than the actual thing,
I Dont know whether you class me as a good DEV, but i will be around, at least for 2 years
So you can couint on me even if everyone else dissapears
Can't wait to welcome all devs in I9305 section. I feel my phone is useless without getting chances to tweaks n mods

Hi all my dear GTab -2 users....
After so many hours of thinking and discussion with my team mates I came to a conclusion to say Bye Bye to my bellowed GTab-2 community....
As you know guys I have contributed for tab2 from very starting stage of development....I started my development with Jelly Beast rom at initial stage and and till now I have produced many different ROMs ...I hope you all enjoyed my work....
Yes I have very hard time on writing this thread (my last thread in this community ) because this community was a part of my life from past one year.......but am too over loaded with devices like nexus5 ,note3,note2,Samsung s4,nexus4......etc...
I strongly hope you guys understand me and my point....and co operate with me....
I still remember my promise about SOKP
So @DarkStryder will be representing and maintain official SOKP rom for both variants of Tab2 from my side and my team...I hope you guys will support him and cooperate with him in his threads....
I really miss some users here....hope we will meet some where in xda again.....
So at last I want to thank all my users and supporters who supported me from very 1st post here..thank you so much guys for your cooperation's. And support...
I miss you guys......bye bye...
Best Regards....

Sadly when VZW does get the Note 4 they will lock down the bootloader like they did on the S3, S4 and the Note 3. I was running an earlier version of Android 4.1.2 and refused to update. The new 4.3 bootloader locked the phone down and while rooting is possible anything other than TW roms are not able to be installed.

Ya that's why I call Samsung as samsucks....:sly:
They will never do what users expected but they will do what is not needed ....
Example Knox .....I don't thing its need ...
They would have over hauled tw ui in kitkat...
But they never bothered about that.....
Too bad samsucks....

Well its not only samsung in this case it's also verizon. We've had one Nexus device and even though people think we will get another one someday I somehow doubt that

Sam-sucks! They won't get my money for locked devices! We will move to Nexus, HTC or other root-friendly brands.
I now understand your post of yesterday, @Audio God and words "I will tell it to my mates"!
But if you will be involved in the development for the N7100 we will meet here soon again
