Alright, I will be the forum troll that tells you that this belongs in Q/A .
The entire reason to get a nexus device is to experience pure aosp android, plus the awesome support that comes along with it. I personally would consider it blasphemy if a miui/twiz port was ever released for this device. Also, as there is no miui tab interface out there, a ported phone ROM would not look very good (low-rez icons, funky UI,etc.), not to mention being a pain in the neck to fully port.
Th3bill and Jokersax will be working on a MIUI for the N7.

The Android Open Source Project is all about allowing the community to innovate. Miui is an awesome and unique take on the android language (even if it does mimic the iPhone in many ways). Your "blasphemy" comment is not necessary

Alright, alright, just calm down, I mostly meant it as a joke, anyways, and I didn't want to put a silly little smiley face there to show it. I personally think that a MIUI port would not scale very well to the N7 (feel free to prove me wrong as I have never used MIUI), and would not do this device a true service. Of course, this is just my personal opinion (no need to get flustered about it), and it will always be good to have choices, I just wanted to give everyone my 2c.

There is? I was unaware of it. I will check it out, as I am intrigued as how well a 4-4.5 inch UI would scale to a 7 inch screen.
I'll look into this. Might be able to hack something together tomorrow.

I have been running MIUI on my Nook Color for several months and I really like the app folders and customization abilities!!
This is now set up for my wife.
How about we wait for MIUI to be upgraded to jellybean before getting too optimistic?
(Though that would be really great)

I came to the Atrix was blown away by the stock rom. Had a look on good ol' XDA about 10 minutes after I left the AT&T store - unlocked.
The community here seems very friendly and the work that's being shared is very solid! I see mentions of CM7 here and there but haven't seen a link (wow it was right below this post too!) - Alien does everything I need.
I am, however, shocked to see no mention of MIUI and the Atrix anywhere. As amazing as MIUI ran on my Evo and Evo Shift, it's punishment not seeing this device taking advantage of all the pleasures that it should be delivering.
So, out of curiosity - anybody else out there wish we had something like that around here?
Yes; others have commented about it. What I've seen is that MIUI will come after CM7 which is still actively being worked on right now.
The Atrix was only recently unlocked. They also just got their hands on the source code, so expect good things soon.

Yeah it makes sense, from a kernel standpoint.
I haven't dived into the Atrix yet, or had the phone for very long (still haven't even researched webtop.) - I was just curious as to what kinds of development the community here was geared for.
Well, once we have CM7 fully working, porting MIUI to Atrix would not be a tall order! So, stay tight; we will have MIUI in due time
Edit: Late again to the party
I'm sure we all want it, its just the fact that it's based off of CM7 (Which we have, but is in an alpha/beta stage.) I'm sure once that is stable, We will eventually have ourselves some miui...i hope, at least

MIUI is the rom I've been waiting for, cm7 looks ok and all, but it doesn't have nearly the appeal as MIUI does for me

Well, it corresponds with the previously obtained "leaked" photos. It does some things I haven't seen any other roms do as of yet. But, I would assume all easily doable if your a developer and wanted to mess with people.
Than again if I wasn't except so much from it I'd think it was it. But since It's kind of disappointing in the first place I don't want to believe it. But, I would assume there are much more background upgrades and new features not shown there that it would make it exceptional and that much better.

I still lean more towards it being a custom rom someone conjured up. And even if it's not ICS; nor, do I wish it to be (Again the background changes would have to be intense for me to not feel dogged completely) I would love to get my hands on that "rom" and mess with it.
Just tell us it's fake already and let us play with the rom!

Has anyone noticed the Movie Studio icon? As far as I know this app is only available on Honeycomb at the moment. Two possibilities:
- It's real and the Movie Studio works on phones
- It's a custom ROM and there's just a useless icon for an app that doesn't exist
The first one seems more likely to me. Also, there's the panorama feature in the camera app, which was rumored before.

Doesn't seem fake. IceAndFire ROM, for example, has the ICS launcher by Syndicate Apps.
This video shows a lock screen, a different app drawer, a different notification bar. Just like on my Honeycomb tab. Seems like real ICS.

Yeah HTC has some cool devices coming out, but Sprint is missing out. They need to give Sprint a Beats phone, hopefully with the Bliss ROM on it I love that UI and the new Rosie has to be my all time favorite.
I think they will work magic with ICS, Sense overlay would be nice especially with what I have been seeing of 3.5!

lots of people seem to have mixed results with beats and with ICS i think the sense overlay while it looks nice ICS looks good its the actual first stock android look that is nice.It would be nice if they cut back sense or got rid of their launcher anyways. the main reason companys created overlays was due to the lack of smoothness android didnt have. google really outdid their self with ICS imo its what 2.3 and 3.0 should have been.

I think it'd be good, because I flashed it for my friend on their thunderbolts, and I was actually fairly impressed. I think putting some light back on them would be good cuz for the evo, when it first got rooted, they were the place to be, but now with more developers, more people are spread out, but they're great roms for aosp.
I actually just flashed it about 2 hours ago. I'm impressed with it; has the correct pngs, flows nicely, even without a reboot.

Nice! How exciting! I am working on a review of the Runny bliss Hybrid this week and then I will do OMFGB next week.
I am looking to do a ROM a week that way I can use it the whole week and give a more well rounded opinion. I am currently doing everything as is, with no kernel or other tweaks just the ROM as it comes. I will flash Gapps of course and my normal apps...
I am glad to have caught your attention and hope to bring some more users to your fabulous ROM, which I have been know to use from time to time. Are you running the latest nightly or the stable?

Yea they would be, which is why a lot of people using them partition their sd cards, to save some internal space, but they can be used un-partitioned.
They have the ROM's partitioned so its all in the "ROM memory" there its actually internal memory free.
I ran it for a whole week with no mods at all and it was smooth very rare lag and no crashes. Although I only use about 40 apps, there its plenty of memory, but moving cache to sd and apps to sd helps.

Someone is offering me to trade my 16GB Galaxy Tab 7 3G/Wifi + cash top of SGD$250
- 1 Year old. Warranty over.
- Physical appearance: 8/10 because of some small scratches on the side. Scratches seen on the screen are on the screen protector.
FOR
his 32GB Xoom 3G/Wifi -
- 5 months old.
- 10/10 condition. Placed in otterbox defender case worth USD 90 and Japanese screen protector worth SGD$69
Opinions? Looking at the development of Xoom, it's not really that active huh. Guys I need some opinions Thanks.
The development of the Xoom isn't that active because the Xoom gets it's updates first, and the source for Honeycomb was never released making Cyanogen-esq projects impossible. Now that ICS's has been released, along with the source, I suspect this will change. But even so, the Xoom doesn't need a huge amount beyond rooting and custom kernels, both of which are active projects.
Regarding the deal your associate wishes to make, it's a damn good one. He's after your decrepit Tab 7 in return for his Xoom, which is a far more capable device. So the only issue is if your cool with going through with a deal which will leave the other party at a disadvantage.
Uh... Do it!

That's an amazing deal...take it. There's great, stable roms for the Xoom Honeycomb OS and Android 4/Ice Cream Sandwich is in active development and is already providing a perfectly suitable daily driver (see my signature). Only camera drivers are missing--need binaries from Motorola.

Xoom is definitely better than a Samsung Galaxy Tab, especially considering the hideous abomination that is Touchwiz. However, I think you could find a better deal. I don't know about where you live but where I am a quick search on craigslist yielded several LNIB Xooms for less than $300.
You should be able to sell your Galaxy Tab, and then take the $250 that you were going to pay ontop of it for the trade and buy a brand new Xoom. and still have some money left over.
If you are in an area where it's not easy to find high end electronics for sale on the private market then yeah by all means go ahead with the trade...maybe try to get him down to $200 cash ontop of your Galaxy Tab.
Good luck...and BTW we have a nearly fully functional AOSP ICS rom available to us, what more could you want from our devs?

Lol. I did check. Just seems to me like the choices of roms for the xoom seems limited, well.. as compared to sgt7's.

I think the reason there are few Honeycomb roms (though the ones available are very good and stable) is because Honeycomb source code was never released. It's at the end stage. But ICS is going strong!
Thanks for all the input guys. You guys are right. Having one good and stable rom is better than having many average roms. Thanks for your time guys.

I don't know why Google made the decision to withhold the HC source code. I think they should have released it and let the developers decide on what, if anything, to do with it. At this point, there's no point in working with HC since ICS is out there but still....
I'm not a dev myself. Just stating my thoughts on it.

I hope that your next post here on XDA is made from or at least near your Xoom! As everyone else said, pull the trigger on that trade and don't look back unless you already have...

They decided not to release it, because they knew devs will try to port it to smartphones and it wouldnt work well as its primarily designed for tablets.
Then ICS was to unify them therefore ICS is open source.

I am so done with Samsung. I should have known that after the Samsung Epic, that their software updates are unbelievably/unexcusably slow. I took a chance with the 10.1 and got burned again.
I am done with you Samsung, I really am.

Lol so tell me.. Your moving to htc? Or LG? Or what ^_^? Samsung has IMHO the best high end device /support /development in android's world.. I've tried almost every brand out there and I'm very satisfied with Samsung products...
Got a gnex, gtab and recently bought a gnote...
If you want faster updates you should get Google nexus devices... I got jelly bean in my 8 months old gnex the next second Google released the preview after I/O for Google play devices..

I honestly don't know what I will move to. From what I understand, all Motorola devices lock their bootloader, so that is out.
I don't know. Samsung has AWESOME hardware which is why I love them so much, but their software support leaves a LOT to be desired.

well you have an android device.. it's open source... meaning communities like xda has great developers... you only need to read a bit (5–10 mins) to be able to root and flash cwm recovery into your device Wich btw its hell easy in most samsung devices... then you are ready to flash any custom roms out there... And you can ask anyone devs here in xda are wayyy more talented than manufacturer's... meaning custom roms performs wayyy better than stock roms... and you will be updated as soon as any change in aosp code happens go ahead and void your warranty xD.. there's always methods to go back to stock
cheers

Trust me when I tell you, I know. I am running ICS on my Samsung Epic device, which only supports GB. LOL.
No matter how good our developers are, they still need Samsung to do their part. FOR EXAMPLE... Take a picture with your 10.1 using ANY ICS ROM that our developers have put together. Plus, to be completely honest, we shouldn't have to count on our NON-PAID, VOLUNTEER devs to make the software everything that it SHOULD HAVE BEEN when released from Samsuck.

I am in the same boat as you. I should of learned with the Captivate how they do things in regards to updates but I didnt. The only way I will still buy a Samsung product is if they are making the next nexus phone or tablet. That way factory images will be provided and then I can just flash the updates myself and not have to wait for them to update it for me.

I was going to post a link, but it looks like you beat me to it, thanks!
This port is pretty buggy, but overall its SO smooth. I haven't had a single lag/shutter. Only draw-backs are no wifi and audio (I don't even need to mention the camera...)
The port is pretty awesome, and I'm expecting something great to come of this, making our tabs better, faster, and way more productive.
Hi men.
I have a GT-p7500 and am ready to test every safe rom/os on it.if you have info that I'm not informed of pm me!
But this preeeee-alpha version isn't worth.
Ps:I'll test it though!!!!!!

Wifi works, sounds work and sd youtube works
New build is up and this can and I do use daily no bugs to speak of. Apart camera 3G etc. This ROM is buttery smooth and is very fluid and has hadn't a wow factor to my tab and you wouldn't go back to hc nor ICS. Try this ROM :good:
