Hey guys, so the other day my VS980's screen decided that it did not want to turn on anymore. The digitizer works fine and I can feel the haptic feedback of the screen touches but that is the only way I can interact with the phone. So then I figured that I should plug it in to my laptop to get my pictures, music, etc off of it. The microusb port is not working either, unbelievable! When I plug it in, all that pops up on my computer screen is that an LG AndroidNet phone is plugged in. It won't let me access the storage!
Do you guys know of any way that I can download an app or something that will just backup my phone to the cloud without me doing anything on the phones end? This really sucks and I hope that one of you has some advice for me!

my LG G2 is dropped on granite floor and it fell on its top left corner shattering the corner and breaking LCD. a notification came on the screen telling that the LCD is broken and all i can do is receive calls by pressing both arrow keys and shut down the alarm.
when it to my Mac via its USB, mac does not recognize the device as i had set up to ask for confirmation if it should mount the disk or just charge (i generally charge it on USB port in the car and computer). however, i cannot unlock it as i have set up lock screen pattern and the pattern crosses the breaks resulting in me being unable to unlock the screen.
i'm sure somebody else also should've gone thru this experience but have been successful retrieving pix and contacts before factory resetting to send it for replacement. can i get some help unlocking the screen in this situation to just get all my data out. thanks in advance.

Hi,
Saw you post, and have the same situation. I have an LG G2 with passcode on, and broken, unresponsive screen. Need to access to get pictures of my kids off. But, need more information. How does an OTG cable and mouse perform the unlock on my phone? How do you get a mouse with a Micro USB connection at the other end?
Thanks!

Thank you for your quick reply. I understand the concept. But, most micro usb cables have a micro connection at one end and a standard connection at the other. Mice tend to me wireless OR hard-cabled. Are you saying I need a mouse with a removable micro usb cable?
Since I will likely have to buy a mouse that I don't actually need (I have plenty), please clarify... does plugging in the mouse to my phone automatically unlock it like a hard access key? Or do I have to use the scroll wheel to move around my screen?
Thank you again!

plugging in mouse allows you to control phone like in computer, you use a mouse on phone and can unlock it, open apps, text/etc
also wireless mouse work with it as long as it has a usb adapted then you can use it with otg(I have a wireless mouse and have used it before)

Just dropped it and the phone is malfunction.
a. the screen is shatter and touch isn't work.
b. usb port doesn't seem to work either.
Main problem now is that I have lockscreen with PIN on, since touchscreen isn't working I can't access it to turn on On-Screen feature.
USB port doesn't work, I think I can use wireless but again, can't get pass the lockscreen.
I have tried remote Unlock from AVG app which I currently has it running on the phone but still cannot get pass the screen.
I want to copy a few important files over first then perform Factory Reset via Recovery.
Does anyway I can do that?
All feedback and thought welcomed.
Also, since I got this phone for 4 months, i believe warranty is over. Anyone know which reliable, good service that I can send my phone for the screen fix?
Thanks all
Since the usb doesn't work so I don't think ADB pull will help, plus I have to turn on the USB Debugging anyway, which I can't now.
Got it.
Case closed.
Long and short of it is a company replaced a shattered screen. Then, the new screen began to peel away and then the connection became so bad that the screen is not functional. I just get a blank screen. I need to rip all of that data off the old phone so I can back it up and put it on a new phone (courtesy of the company that replaced the screen).
Here's where it gets tricky. The USB connection mode is charge only. I need to set it to MTP, but can't because the screen has lost all functionality. Without MTP, neither Android File Transfer nor Smart switch can't connect to the phone. I think Sidesync would work, but I can't install it on my phone.
An MHL cable won't help because it mirrors what is on the screen, but I can't select anything....
Are there any tricks out there that can help me before I have to send the old phone back in?
Thanks in advance!
You'll have to try fixing it temporarily . youtube has some good info

You can try and take a phone with the same os. If you have 2 computers its best (maybe one laptop or something). Turn both the phones off and connect them both to the computers and turn them both on. Look at the one that you see his screen and press the same places on your phone..

I'm in the same boat, have you found a way?
Long story short, I went to the beach yesterday, put my phone into airplane mode, and then fell over on the rocks and cracked my screen.
So now I have a locked phone, in airplane mode, which turns on and vibrates to indicate power (with power LED), but I cant use the screen. I wouldn't be too upset, but I took a lot of pictures on the beach and i'd like to keep them.
So I was wracking my brains trying to think how I could do an adb backup or something (cant, unauthorized), then I thought, "Wait, does this thing have HDMI out?!!?" Turns out yes. So, quick question to anyone who owns or knows about the MHL adaptor, can I just buy the MHL adapter (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Galaxy-S4-HDTV-Adapter-White/dp/B00BTCPQ5C) and plug it into a TV, and use a USB mouse to unlock then copy my photos?
Any help really, really appreciated.
P.S. Anyone got a broken Note 3 they want to sell? All I want is the screen, don't care if its cracked and doesn't accept touch, i just need to see my screen. Moral of the story kids, don't put your phone in airplane mode, your photos won't backup

No, the screen is totally dead. But I know the phone still works because it vibrates when i turn it on, and my PC recognizes it when i plug it in, and the charging LED lights up. It's just the screen that is dead.

Oops. So basically, You can now try only mirroring.. Only option.. I have had this problem with one of my phones earlier.. I somehow managed to grant usb debugging.. Rest, the PC, mouse and keyboard did the job.

Well, I bought that adaptor. It doesn't fit in my Note 3, it seams my port is too short? After some Googling around that subject, i've discovered that there are 5-pin and 11pin variants, and I have a 5pin. I can buy another £5 adaptor for 5-to-11pin, but i'm not going to, because i also discovered in my Googling that mirroring only works on a stock ROM. I apologize for not mentioning that i run custom in my original post, I didn't even think about it, since this is XDA I just assumed everyone would know.
Can anyone suggest ANYTHING I could try? The pictures mean a lot to me, i never turn on Airplane mode (so that my pictures are always instantly backed up), but it just so happens that on that day, I did
A few days ago my girlfriend who has a J5 (J500M) accidentally let her phone fall into the washing machine and she turned on and put it on charge after little time and her screen burned. The cellphone works but I can't see anything in the screen (I know he works because the phone vibrates when receiving calls/messages), so the thing is: she have a lot of important pictures she took with the smartphone and she didn't wanna lose it all, but I tried a lot of things and none of them really worked:
Tried to put the phone in Download Mode and pull the images with ADB but the USB Debugging is not enabled, so it wont recognize the device.
Tried to put her password in the screen but I'm pretty sure the touch isn't working too.
Tried some programs that promises to recover my files but they didn't work.
I was thinking about flashing CWM and try to mount the storage partition but I couldn't find, I only found TWRP which is touchscreen only (I guess).
So anyone have any ideas to try?
PS:The screen is off so I can't see anything and USB Debugging is off.
Thanks guys,

The only way is to find some with j500m LCD and pay a little amount to just put the LCD and copy all your files and remove the LCD done. Someone like phone repair
