Hi. I have a gs4 (tmo) running the latest Cyanogen Mod nightly.
I only have like 15 downloaded apps and my internal memory only hase 400 mb left. The system partition is only being used up about 30% and its 2.65gb. Also if I can re size the cache partition because its only being used up 13%.
I feel like this is my only solution. But if you guys know a way to clear up space other than telling me to delete my pictures and what not (because I already did), then please show me a way.
It you guys need more info please ask.
Thanks - Harinder g

Hi,
I just installed miui 6.9.29. Everything is working fine but one thing: the ext3 partition i created in CWM (512 mb, 0 mb swap) does not show up as internal storage. I tried to mount it in CWM, but still no luck . Can someone please help me? I really need more than 115 mb of internal storage, since there is only 23.54 mb available. Pretty stupid actually because i only want about 3-4 apps more..
Please help!
1 - does that rom support a2sd natively? or do you need to apply a script yourself?
2 - it never does show up using the standard system apps to view available storage
yes it does, and i already fixed it by using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26286781&postcount=1
thank you anyways
Ahh it must depend on the rom / script used then.
Hi all!
i'm not very experienced at this so if i say something stupid please correct me.
i tried setting up PACMAN rom on my S4 yesterday, and i noticed while in TWRP it showed that the S4 still has 9GB free, even after wiping and formatting the internal SD.
I did not install the ROM yet.
I take it the missing GB's are used in a system partion? which is only available when installing ROMs? Does PACMAN take up that much space or is there now space on the system partition that's not being used?
again, if this is not how it works, let me know.

PAC rom takes up very little space only. Tried it ytd. However, the missing spaces that is used for system purpose, cannot be used for apps or storage. (Not that I know of)

thank you for you answer. I won't repartition then.
I9500, Omega 12, cross breeder, Perseus 9
Even after fresh install I have 600mb left on my system... before when I first had the phone it was atleast 4+gb
I have been through all the bloatware, and through personal files saved on the phone but it's still not giving me more than 900mb...
I'm not sure what;s the problem I have used cleaning apps but they clean the cache only
please advise Dx
Update, I have 14mb now...
update 2 : even after deleting everything from the phone memory ( which I can access) I only have 800mb (not apps)
Try installing DiskUsage from the Play Store. It is a beautifully simple visual representation of your file system and may help spot what is eating your memory.
I fixed it after trying to repartition and Nand erasing
So, I downloaded safestrap 3.65 for my MF3 based S4. I opened it up and just wanted to make sure I set things up correctly before I fill one of the custom ROM slots. The default shows the partition size to be 2800 MB, the data partition to be 2500 MB and the cache to be 300 MB (a total of 5.6 gigs). That seems very large relative to the suggestion of the description here:
http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/how-to-safestrap/
(showing 1GB, 2GB, and 3GB, granted it's an older version). I'm assuming this app gives you more control but I'm a bit new so I'm not sure what to use for default settings.
I also only have 2.43 GB free so I'm going to have to remove some things. What kind of preparation do you guys recommend? Wiping phone before creating custom roms? Clearing out all music/picture files, etc?
Any suggestions you can give me for preparing for the custom ROM slot would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, guys!
I believed u can adjust the size is the partition on V3.65. ... For me system 2000Mb. .... data 1800Mb .... cache 300Mb. .... is more than enough to run custom rom and the most I found not more than 1.5gb (1500Mb) ..... and yes move all your music and pictures to External SD Card..... and also u can Uninstall the app that u don't really use. .... using titanium backup .... Goodluck. ...
MOD PLEASE MOVE THIS TO Q&A SECTION. ....

How much space does the stock app take to run? I looked at the files on my phone (via explorer on my PC) and I only have 1.5 GB of data on it. I backed out to the root directory in windows and it says I have 5.45 GB of 9.61 GB free. So, where is the remaining 2.6 or so gigs of data being used that I can't see?
For the record, I do have it so all hidden folders are shown so I know that I only have 1.5 GB (that I know of) in that folder. Does Android have a bunch of files being used with unknown/invisible to the PC extensions that aren't being counted here?
I've got an almost fresh and empty J3 (2016) with stock Android 5.1.1
One of my friends has been complaining about low internal memory warnings.
So I installed TWRP and got it rooted.
It shows the following:
System memory - 7,02 GB
Used space - 664 MB
Available space - 310 MB
And when I do a TWRP backup, it says - ok, system partition is approx 1.4 GB, data 800 MB. In total, full system backup is slightly more than 2 GB.
Where did the rest 6 GB of internal memory go?
Mind you, there is *no* pictures, no video, no apps, nothing.
Wiped cache/dalvik.
But 5 or 6 gigs are still missing. Whats wrong with this picture?
Maybe there's a hidden partition? Can you give me a hint how to visualize ALL internal memory, all available partitions? And possibly kill and resize the useless ones.
I'd greatly appreciate it!
