Cricket S4 MMS help - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just about a week ago, a friend asked me to get cyanogenmod going on his Cricket Galaxy S4. I loaded the latest SNAPSHOT at the time (M7), and everything seemed to work okay as he had service, data, text, calls, whatnot. Only thing that isn't working right now is MMS. An update to a more recent nightly didn't help, an update to the latest SNAPSHOT didn't help. We've tried editing the APN, adding a fresh new APN for Cricket, but nothing seems to work. When attempting to send a picture message, the SMS application just shows "Sending" but never sends anything. Switching to Hangouts doesn't do any good either. I'm trying to fix this problem before deciding the phone goes back to stock touchwiz. Does anybody here have any idea what's going on here and how to fix it, if there is a fix at all? Again, it's a Samsung Galaxy S4 from Cricket Wireless.

Hey there.

Same phone, same carrier, same issue. Unfortunately these are known issues with running CM on the S4.
I was running SM for quite a while in hopes this would get resolved but it has been quite a while and there does not seem to be any progress on it.
I reflashed mine back to stock to restore MMS functionality.
There were a couple other issues too. It has been quite a while but I know one of them was I would never get 4G service, only 3G.

[Q] flashed evo using jiminy cricket, mms not working.

hey everbody. ive searched long and far for a fix and i just can't find it! i even emailed deathsled and havent heard anything yet so im here at your mercy! about 2 weeks ago i flashed my evo to cricket using deathsleds rom and everything including mms worked. my signal bars were going crazy so i flashed another prl to see if that would fix it and my mms didnt work after that so i flashed back to the previous prl and it still wont work. now ive edited some things and gotten it to where i can send/receive from sprint, virgin, tmo and cricket, verizon however i can send to but the only way i can receive a mms from a verizon customer is if they forward the pic to themselves first then send it to me?? i have no idea what this means but any help would be very awesome! thanks everybody in advance

Galaxy S2 Problems on Rogers Network - Canada

1. MMS stops working by itself, after factory reset starts working again. No settings are being changed.
2. Bluetooth connection to my car Audi Handfree is very unreliable and causes network connection to stall, no data and calls go straigh to voicemail.
3. Call waiting stoped working. Everytime i get a second call my primary call mutes and I can't hear the other person and they can't hear me. By switching back and forth between callers I am able to hear first caller again.
All of these issues are solved by factory reseting the phone.
Does anyone have a clue why is this happening?
Using latest KE7 software.
I am on rogers and are having no issues with my phone that you are having... Maybe you got a bad phone?
Can you check if your mms messaging work?

On Rogers in Southwestern Ontario. I don't use MMS, so I don't have much experience with that.
I have used by SGS2 with BT Audio and calls on an Alpine KCE-400BT (Parrot unit rebranded as Alpine) and a Sony Xplod unit without any unusual behaviour
Haven't used call waiting other than by accident, no experience there either.
Hi I'm on Rogers is Windsor, I don't use MMS or bluetooth, but I use call waiting very often and not once as it messed up on me.
Anyone using Rogers having problems with digital call display? Whenever someone calls me it comes up as "unknown" but my account has digital call display on it.
I have seen name display work fine on my phone.it's a fantastic feature!

Anyone using Rogers having any data stalling/dropping issues? It seems like every time I go into an area with no signal (subway or elevator for example) it just doesn't seem to connect back onto the network fully. Even though it will say 3G, the data connection is actually dead and I usually have to wait a while or cycle airplane mode to get it back.
I'm using the KE4 radio. If you guys are having no problems, could you tell me which ROM and radio (baseband) you're using? Also, if fast dormancy is enabled or disabled? You can check with dialing *#9900#. Also, which APN you're using for data? Is it the internet.com one or the rogers-core-appl1.apn?
Thanks
I just got a Bell SGS2 yesterday and rooted/unlocked it. I'm having 2 problems to date:
1) GPS cannot fix. I can be in view of 12 satellites, but it just won't fix.
2) My SMS timestamps are screwed up. Every message comes in with a stamp of 4 hours earlier.
Anyone else having these problems?
EDIT: Oddly enough, MMS works AND the timestamp is correct.

Hi guys, how did you get it to unlock to work on rogers? I have tried the free app on the market but that doesn't work out for me.
I have rooted the phone already.
Sorry for hijacking the thread.

Instead of getting the Galaxy S2 unlock app from the market, get the Galaxy_S app. It'll crash the phone at step 2, but it'll be unlocked after it reboots!

I haven't had this problem with my SGS2, but I've had it with previous Android and Windows phones. It is a known bug.
Apparently the problem isn't present when using Handcent SMS (which is really good anyways) or you can use this program designed specifically to fix the problem.

Might be a dumb question, but did you check your APN settings? Maybe they got messed up somehow.

Thank you that worked
Nvm got it working.
This is why I'm afraid of using anything but the stock Kernel. No problems here on my unlocked stock SG2.

I just got an unlocked Japanese Galaxy S 2 (brand: NTT Docomo) and cannot get 3G to work on my phone. I am with Rogers.
I've tried enabling bands using the USSD codes but have had no luck.
Anyone else using a Japanese GS2 and got 3G to work on Rogers?

NTT works on completely different frequencies....there is no way it'd work here. If you want a phone that'd work in Japan then you'd need to buy one here and get a Softbank SIM card while in Japan.

AT&T Samsung Galaxy 3 (just rooted) Data Outages

Greetings XDA members. I purchased my Galaxy S3 from AT&T back in July. Had no issues with data (HPSA+/4GLTE). Recently I rooted phone (no custom firmwares) for tethering purposes. Never tweaked with APN settings. Some reason my phone shows the 4G LTE symbol for connection but randomly when I go to access internet on any app I have no connection. I also dont receive any text messages (SMS or MMS). Only way around it is to send my phone into airplane mode then turn airplane mode off and I can surf fine and all my missed texts pop up all at once. I can be in exact same area and use data then randomly it stops functioning (repeat airplane mode procedure). I did research and some say it could be that sim card in the spring could have unaligned inside the phone. Tried that but to no avail. Anyone have any suggestions? Would downloading stock firmware/factory settings fix this issue? Below is details on my phone.
AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III (SGH-i747)
Android 4.0.4
Baseband I747UCLEM
Network APN: default AT&T PDA
I have unlimited data (used roughly 3.7gb) because I've tried the restorting to factory settings and google reinstalled all my apps couple times (forgot to use wifi instead of cell data). I figured maybe that was an issue that I used too much data and AT&T cuts me off. Im not sure if its the tethering app (only used once to test) did something to it. Phone worked fine for a couple weeks then randomly started cutting data out resulting in the airplane mode workaround.
Ok I've rambled enough. Final question: Is there a list that has AT&T Samsung Galaxy 3 SGH-i747 default APN settings so i can varify that mines weren't altered to cause this issue.
Thanks for reading and hopefully issue can be resolved. Thanks.

I just wanted to echo your problem. I have an AT&T S3 I747 and don't recall there being any network issues until I rooted my phone. I have unrooted, gone back to stock, and then even went back to stock ICS from JB and the network issue still seems to be there. I was curious if you found any ideas or fixes, or if anyone else has a fix or solution. I am running rooted stock Jellybean.
Im using my GS3 unroot with jelly bean 4.1.1 and dont seem to have the issue anymore. I went completely stock and I called AT&T to reset my data. Told them the issue I had (didnt mention i previously rooted) and rep reset my APN settings for my phone. I had to turn phone off for a few minutes then turned back on and all seems to work now. It still goes out sometimes but not as often since going from ics to jelly bean. Hope this helps. Dont think ill be rooting again anytime soon. Think problem started after I tried that free tethering/hotspot app for rooted users. This is messed with APN settings and caused problems.

Root by itself won't cause any issues. You used another app, in this case the tethering, which used root and messed up normal data on your phone. You can safely root just be careful what you do after that. Read, read, read.

Can't receive calls or send/receive SMS/MMS. Data works. Calls work.

Hi all,
If anyone can help me with this issue. I can't seem to receive any calls, or any messages. I already called TMobile. They said everything on their end is fine.
I am using the CM 10.1 nightly from today.
Thank any help would be greatly appreciated as I am completely ran out of ideas.

Did you check your APN config?

What provider are you using? The reason I ask is because I'm using straight talk and I switched yesterday. I was able to call and shrf the web but when it came to text I could send them but my old phone world receive them... After a could of hours everything started working again.
So if you are just switching providers it could just take some time or call the mobile provider and ask them for a status update, or just reboot your phone!
Good luck my friend!!

[Q] Cannot download MMS on AT&T Galaxy S4.

This has been driving me nuts. Keep receiving the download button on all MMS messages on both of our phones. Clicking on download does nothing.
Me and the Wife are both having the same problem. I'm on MDL and she is on MF3 and we are both running stock Galaxy S4's. We could send and receive MMS's when we first got the phones and they both stopped being able to do it around the same time. I've rooted mine but her's is pure stock. Data is on and we have also tried wifi. Nothing seems to work. Can receive regular text messages and access the internet. Just MMS's won't work.
Any ideas? I'm at a loss here!
Have you checked the apns?

I did and the APNs seem to be ok. Did some more digging and is there a known issue with Adblocker Plus blocking MMS messages? I tried turning that off and it suddenly got my MMS's sending and receiving again. Odd thing is my Wife's S4 doesn't have it installed and was having the exact same issue. Going to test further and see if just leaving Adblocker Plus off solves it.
Just want to confirm that this was an adblock issue for me. As soon as I turned adblock off, mms worked like a charm.

I had same problems all the time until I update to KitKat. This is common bug for this builds. Try some KitKat roms from development section. Or if you don't care about root or recovery ETC. just update to KitKat.

I'm running [KitKat][RoM]&[KERNEL]&[RECOVERY][I337-XXUFNB8-4.4.2-KK][SHOstock-i v5.0] [03/01/14] and updated my modem 2 different times and still no luck.
My husband has the same phone S4, not rooted, and today he finally updated his phone to kitkat through AT&T ota and he's having the same issue with sending/receiving MMS.

Then this can be problem with sim card. Go to closest At&t store and replace them.
I use to have this problem on an older phone, S2, whenever I was connected to wifi when I received an MMS. Disconnecting from the wifi and trying again to download the MMS worked.

Talk about unearthing an old message!
Yeah, I haven't had this issue in ages. No issue on either of our S4s. Mine is rooted and her's is stock but neither of us have upgraded to Kit Kat yet. Still have Adblock on my phone but haven't experienced any issues. Can't remember what all I had to do to resolve the issue but it's been working fine ever sense!
I had a similar issue and this fixed it.
