[Q] - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there. I have a rooted and unlocked nexus 7 WiFi (2012) and want to put it back to stock. But when in bootloader I get unknown on windows. And when I try and unroot on Ubuntu it just keeps saying waiting for devise. Is there any way of fixing this. I am using android 4.3.

Wipe your windows drivers and start fresh.
After you uninstall the driver's, use this guide..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907796

Will do. I'll let you know how it goes. But I was also getting the same while using Ubuntu on a different machine.

Unfortunately I know nothing of Ubuntu. Maybe if you have trouble you should ask in its thread?

No dice. Windows keeps saying that the device has malfunctioned when I do the bootloader reboot.

Well, its either a driver issue still....or Ubuntu issue....or hardware issue on the device.
I'd ask in the Ubuntu thread.

Cheers fot the help.

A quick question is there a way of installing a bootloader from storage on the nexus? The Ubuntu thread was a bust.

Plz Help stuck on KindleFire fff Logo.

Hello All,
I have had the KF since release.
I use to just run it rooted with GoLauncher and market installed.
A month ago I decided to restore it to stock and then start from scratch and put a ROM on it like I do on my phones.
I saw the amazing KFU instead of doing it manually and downloaded it. I installed it fine, rooted my KF put FFF on there (the one with Andy over the KF logo), CWM touch, and flashed an AOKP rom.
It has worked fine, but now that Hashcode has the 3.0 Kernel kinks mainly worked out I wanted to try it. It says it does not work well with CWM so I opened up the KFU and told it to flash TWRP.
When it rebooted to the Kindle Fire Logo with Andy above it got stuck and said no device in adb.
In device manager it shows up as Samsung Android Device > ADB Composite Device. I would assume this is b/c I have a Galaxy Nexus that I work with often.
I deleted the drivers reboooted and it shows up as an unknown USB device. If I manually drive to the KFU drivers folder it says that it cant find a suitable driver.
If I run the KFU install driver batch file it runs and the device shows back up as a Samsung device.
I am on Win 7 x64 btw.
I have tried diferent things with the KFU and the KF Unbrick utility but they cannot see my device and I am stuck on this screen.
Any help to get it showing up in adb before my battery dies would be appreciated.
I am experienced with android and adb and have been for years but obviously I am overlooking something so anything is welcome.
Update.
I ran the KF Unbrick Utility and clicked the boot loop otpion and it got me into the ROM load screen but it is stuck.
Now I can get in CWM, but it says it cant mount the sdcard
I have had this same problem and after a little research I found that I was stuck in fast boot. I used the Kindle fire Utility to change the boot mode. KFU wont recognize the device but you can still send the boot mode change to it. I hope this helps.
Woot it is working now.
I just assumed when it said device was not found it could not find it lol.
Thank you.
Well I have TWRP on there now, but when I mount the sd card and try to open it from Computer it says it needs to format it read it.
Any ideas?
I need to either get the update.zip or a rom on there.
Thank you in advance.
NP. Glad I could help.

So from within twrp you can't get it mounted. Do you have a bootable rom on there now.

Yeah I can get in my old AOKP, but the drive either wont show under computer or it will show greyed out and wont let me open it to add any files.

I disabled debugging and it showed up under Computer greyed out. I clicked turn on usb storage on the KF and I have a wheel spinning, but nothing happens and I cannot access the drive under Computer.
Check that driver. You had mentioned earlier that it should up as another device you worked with. Is that still the case.
Ok I noticed in the notification bar that even the KF itself said it could not read the USB b/c it was an unknown format and to format it.
I did and now I can see it. Putting my files on it now.
Wish I know what happened to the SD Card but ohwell.
THank you for all your help.
Sweet. Hope all goes well. I just popped the energy ics mod on mine and it is working great. Just a few minor bugs but HWA is working
Yeah still confused on that.
No matter how much I uninstall the driver (which makes it show ups as kindle now) and run the batch in the KFU for drivers it goes right back under samsung device.
I had to put the driver in manually through device manager because my Samsung prevail did the same thing.

[Q] LG G2 Hard Bricked

Hi all. I looked at other forums in here with similar names but I didn't see my issue.
I believe I have hard bricked my phone. It doesn't boot or do anything at all when pressing the power button. When I plus the phone into the computer, all I get is 10 windows popping up saying, "You need to format the disk in drive _ before you can use it. I have a windows 8 computer.
My G2 is the verizon version. The knock code stopped working and I was having touch screen issues so I have been trying to put a new ROM on to see if that was the problem. I was having trouble getting a recovery like TWRP onto it. The last thing that I did before everything went to black was Here
So, my phone is a nice papeweight right now. Please help if possible!
Search no download mode or recovery after ota

[Q] QHSUSB omgwtfbbq

OK so I am getting rather confused trying to go back and forth between various threads. The short version is I meticulously followed the steps in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142
Sadly when I attempted to reboot the phone nothing appears to happen. Previously Windows didn't recognize the phone and only SLAX of the various VMs I tried recognized it. Now SLAX can't see it and Windows (and thus VMWare Player) is aware of it only as QHSUSB__DLOAD. No Linux flavor I tried will mount it as /dev/sd... . I could really use some help here as I am not sure where to go at this point...Thanks...
I should mention I have a Verizon LG G2.
How disheartening....I was really hoping for some input...and wondering what QHSUSB__BULK really means.
Go to this thread and see if there might be any info that can help your situation, there are a few different solutions for your type of problem

How you get it back running, good luck
Good thoughts. First link doesn't seem to apply and the second one I already tried to no avail. Followed it line by line and rebooted the phone and now am stuck in Q...BULK mode. Can't even get the phone to power on. VZW is sending me a warranty phone replacement which is nice and all but there's stuff on the phone I'd rather not lose but it looks like I have no choice. However the phone is rooted so I'm naturally leery of sending it back but since it won't even power on I'm not sure how they'd know.
Yeah it definitely sucks to lose your personal things that are in the phone and that's the downside of a phone with no sd card. I figure if they do try and plug it in to see if it's rooted it will look like an emmc failure or something of that sort. I understand you being leery but i don't think you have anything to worry about as far as Verizon catching that it's rooted. Good luck my friend
Only reason I ever rooted to begin with was to use TB for backups. I do have a set of backups from maybe 3 or 4 days ago, but it's still annoying.
...speaking of the replacement, now I have to decide between Towel and ioroot and am not sure which is preferrable...

Unlock Bootloader Tmobile

Hey peoples, just curious.. I've seen some people saying they unlocked the Bootloader, I've checked lg's site, Googled, done everything possible to find a step by step guide but can't seem to figure it out.. Was wondering if someone who has done this successfully could post a how to or link me to where I could figure it out..

Yep im having this problem as well
A few people have said if you use straight up Linux, without any VM, it works fine. Drivers in Windows can be pretty screwy.
It just doesnt make sense how i was able to run it through oem unlock ?maybe its got somthing to do with usb 3.0 again ill test in a few

Unfortunately I have an older pc and not enough space to install Ubuntu so that isn't an option..

I just updated my sdk this morning, reinstalled lg drivers and tomorrow I'm reinstalling java(had previously removed all my dev stuff to save space.) gonna see if that helps.. Maybe if it does I'll post a how to with all the links to necessary files to help people do this a bit easier.

I know this thread is old, but it's worth noting that switching the USB connection mode to PTP instead of MTP will most likely cause the device to be recognized be ADB when it doesn't otherwise. Not sure what causes it, but that's what I had to do.

Updated Phone from Root now hard resetting Brick. How do I flash Stock Rom to phone?

My phone is in a constant reboot phase after trying to install the latest OTA.
How can I flash my phone back to complete stock, no root, no unlocked bootloader?
Thanks
The guys here helped me with this same thing two days ago.
This thread should help you out.

And notes from what I went though..
1 - Make sure you have the T-Mobile and not the International's version of the MSM Tool
2 - USB cables matter.. I had what I thought was a very high end cable, turned out that it was crap. I used the OnePlus cable and fixed that issue
3 - Pre-install the QUSB drivers, so when the phone goes into the correct mode, Windows will auto-install the driver.
Good luck, I know you can get it back, as I got mine running again. I was 99% sure that I completely killed it.
