Reccomend me a kernel - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys.
Looking for a good kernel for my G2(info in sig) ... Looking for a good overclocking kernel, What do you use?
Any recommendations?

Dorimanx allows you to overclock to 2.8 ghz but what are you gonna use that for? The phone gets extremely hot in very short time. What is it that 2.8 ghz can do and 2.26 ghz can't?

Dorimanx is very good if you want to overclock it and keeping battery drain at good level.
Best for me is from bruce. Is absolutely amazing and very snappy...

Thanks guys, Is Dorimanx good for everyday usage too?(without overclocking)

iam using dorimanx 5.8 for 2 days now and its stable until now. no issues at all.
but there is one thing to know about this kernel. it offers alot of options via stweaks but its recommend to use the profile settings that are comming with the rom. they are most stable.

I've used Dorimanx for months now , but switched to Bruce2728 kernel ,and i stay with it.
Very fast , smooth , no lags and very good battery life.

I would recommend bruce's kernel that can be found here.
Fast and reliable, good battery life.

Can't beat dorimanx for jb or kitkat. He's a very hard working guy. He never stops improving things.

Simple Kernel v6 overclocks to 2.5GHz. Simple means only Interactive governor included. Works well. 1%/3hr standby. Testing Vellamo bruce2728's kernel rules in multithreading even without overclocking.

What Kernel are you guys using on the lastest CM7?

How many .35 kernels are available? I'm only aware of Umaro's and the stock CM kernel. I'm trying to achieve better battery life, so what kernel are you guys using?
So far, using Umaro's, I'm getting regular battery life, nothing special. Haven't tried the stock CM kernel.
Are they any other undervolted kernels available?

There aren't any others so far. Umaro's kernel is really good for battery life, however it's not up to date with the latest kanged nightly from yesterday.
Ahh, I see. Thanks for the info.
What cpu settings are you running?

Right now I'm using a kanged nightly with the "stock" cpu settings of 245MHz min and 1024MHz max, but with the interactive governor. With Umaro's kernel I had at 245 min, 1017 max and the Smartass governor. The smartass is pretty good on battery.
u made all the right moves all i would do is dim screen and keep runnimg apps low.
pimped out g2
btw pyromod 2.0 345 ghz min 1405ghz max on smartass. i fully charge bout 1 a day
pimped out g2
Pershoot released his kernel the other day pretty nice and smooth

Alright I'm sleepy so this will be in rambling form but...
I've tried Umaro's and I'm not sure if it was the undervolting (which I haven't looked into tweaking) but my phone kept stuttering no matter which governor I used. I was using Htcclay's Super CM7 1.8 with cpu set to 245/1113
I also used the stock kernel that's been on CM7 with no problems and average to good battery life (10-15 hours of active use: texting, browsing, few calls, and playing the occasional game)
Most recently I've used Pershoots which I had heard worked great. I myself love it. Almost same battery life as stock kernel but everything felt just a little bit smoother performance wise.
Here's a link to Pershoot's thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847672
The stock cm kernel in my opinion is finally good enough that it doesn't need changed. I have always flashed pershoots and occassionally others, but it truly does not need supplemented IMHO.

I'm using savaged zen, and I get around two days of battery on a charge, with normal use.
Min: 368 max: 768

Using Pershoots latest kernel, have nothing but good things to say about his kernels. Always my go to kernel.

You're running that on Vision? I can't seem to find it for our device.
Stock CM7 kernel here. I run 245/806 Interactive with automatic brightness. I've found that when wifi is on, keeping the cell radio @ 2G only works wonders. Wifi is set to sleep on screen off, but not when plugged in. 1 day 7 hours on this charge so far with 23% left. I would consider my use light to moderate.

I'm wondering where can I download the Umaro's kernel. I check out his github (https://github.com/umaro/htc-kernel-msm7x30) only to find out that the source is available.

[Q] Which is the most Performant MT4G Kernel?

Hello, first of all this is my first post and thread. I have read the rules and searched for a similar thread. I am not stupid and I know how forums work. Now my question is: Which is the most performant kernel for the MT4G?
Know to be more specific, I am looking for a kernel which a very high OC and UV rate. I want something that can easily manage clock speed when it needs it the most. I am interested in genereal boosts of speed, higher I/O managing speeds, better gaming experiences and a longer battery life. I know that the kernel doesnt do all of that but it has a major impact those aspects. I am running CM7 nightly 144. Im hesitating between Faux123 Cm7/AOSP 2.6.35.13 kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113697) and thederekjay 2.6.35.13::demonSPEED INSANITY kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113554). I appreciate anykind of constructive feed back
I personally use demonspeed-insanity. It'll clock up to 1.8 atm. Couple that with the SMARTASS governor and you get a pretty decent balance of battery life to performance.
can't go wrong with either kernel, i've used both and their both outstanding in performance and battery life.

Thanks for the feedback guys . I'll probably try both of them. I'll post some quadrant benchmarks and battery life results.
Faux 123 1.0.7 is the best IMO, great uv and quadrant scores, got 2600+ on stock and battery life is great.
I have used both kernels and got great battery life from each one. I prefer Faux's kernel for AOSP roms, and thederekjay's kernel for MIUI roms. Faux updated his kernel to OC @ 2.03ghz and its blazing fast
Faux's all day!!!!
He has put in the most work and has the best performance by a wide margin.

Atrix Kernel

Hello,
I'm running Ba2tf CM7 with the stock kernel and I was wondering if faux123's enhanced stock kernel 1.0ghz would be better in terms of battery life? I know that with the stock cm7 kernel you can't undervolt so would faux123's kernel allow me to unvdervolt a bit and still keep the phone at 1Ghz so the battery life would better?
Thanks in advanced.

I use that kernel, and you will get better battery life if you UV a wee bit.
I use this kernel also and am undervolted and get pretty good batt life. Ive tried them all and get the best from the enhanced 1.0 here are my settings

Hello,
In wich screen of setcpu do you put this value? Because i don'
T understand....for know i just put 600 max and 216 min in the first screen but maybe that can be better with your value?
I am using this kernel. I have UVed at -100mv across . I am getting better battery life. I am running my Atrix at 1Ghz only.

i blve its the third tab over it says voltage
The difference in battery life between the 2 kernels is ever so slight, Faux beating out the CM7 by just a hair
Can anyone point me to where I can find this kernel?
thanks
thanks for yours answers!
I am running the same rom, and when i flash the bootloader, the phone boots and about 10 seconds into it gets very hot and locks up. Any suggestions. Thanks.
Im not an expert but it sounds like your phone does not like the custom kernel.
Is it a refurbished Atrix?
Don't think so, but don't know for sure. Just bought it from stumpyz964. Ill just try another. Thanks.

[Q] what is yours favorite kernel (i9505) and why.

Mine favorite kernel is chronickernel i really recommend this kernel because it can oc the gpu and the cpu. But besides that the performance and battery life are just awesome

I second this. Chronic Kernel is by far my favorite kernel. The only kernel I've used that has gotten 10 hours 45 minutes screen-on time with the Stock battery no joke. And performance is amazing. 29k on Antutu is pretty awesome if you ask me

TW kernel

Can someone recommend good kernel, for tw rom, good performance, also battery and with no sods with best stability, im new here and saw many kernels with oc 2.8 GHz and undervolting, best battery and etc, so tell me your oppinion

It is a hard question but the answer is pretty simple. What is good for my phone does not necessary good for yours. Need to try it yourself.
And for overclock kernel don't use overclock setting all the day.Higher clock means higher battery usage.

It depends on what u actually need. OC wouldn't be very stable for example. If u don't want a lot of customization and a stable kernel try lean kernel if you like more features try n3. They are actually all pretty good I tried every kernel and haven't had issues. At the end of the day u will have to look yourself what fits u and your phone best. If you need some info about kernels search for kernel explanation. Got help myself not 2 long ago
