[Q] Barometer issue - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I seem to have an issue with the Galaxy S5 Barometer. The value I get is far to low with 957 hPa. The actual value, measured from different weather stations I have, is 1020 hPa. I entered into the self test menu by entering *#0*# but I could not enter or change the value in the Barometer Sensor section. See screenshots attached.
Anyone who has the same issue or an idea how this could be corrected?
Thanks a lot.

Defective proximity sensor/screen stays off [SOLVED]

Just wanted to post up in case anyone has a similar problem.
Since I got my phone the screen never turned on when I took it away from my face - had to push the power button. Really annoying. Thought it might have been a bug in android but once I got into the test screen through *#0*# at the dialer, I found my proximity sensor ADC values never dropped below 50.
As demonstrated by the display model at AT&T, the ADC value range should be 0 - 255.
This problem simply caused the phone to detect proximity and turn the screen off (in my case an ADC around 61), but the ADC values never dropped enough (below 50, obviously) to trigger the reverse.
So if your screen stays off when you take your huge phone away from your head, check your ADC values.
AT&T warrantied the phone no questions asked :good:

Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 barometer isn't accurate

Hello all,
I used search, but I didn't find any similar thread.
I have S4, and precision barometer (it was calibrated after month in Uppsala (city in Sweden) national laboratory.
My barometer basic accuracy is ± 0.5 hPa (Barometer was made in 2005).
S4 has Bosch Sensortec BMP180 pressure sensor (this information I found on internet).
Bosch Sensortec BMP180 pressure sensor has accuracy pressure: 950 ... 1050 hPa ±0.12 hPa
@ 25 °C ±1.0 m
The problem: my calibrated barometer shows me 990.0 hPa and my S4 shows 987.20 hPa
The S4 shows less 3 hPa.
How I can calibrate it?
(After 2 years I have S3 ant it shows me pressure perfectly).
I tried combination in dial menu: *#0*# then I go to the Sensor window. In the graph Barometer sensor I have a white field: "Sea level pressure" And button "Enter pressure".
I entered pressure. But barometer shows not this value what I want.
Second time I go to sensor testing, in graph barometer, but I don't find field: "Sea level pressure" And button "Enter pressure" any more. They disappear. I tried to flesh my phone, but I didn't find field: "Sea level pressure" And button "Enter pressure" any more. I uploaded some pictures.
I was with this question in the Samsung mobile phones service, but they can't helped me.
Does anyone know how I can to calibrate my S4 barometer?
Better barometer accuracy means better accuracy of GPS.
I will donate if I found answer there, or somebody will help to insure this problem.
And sorry for my bad English.
Hello,
Use this app, on barometer tab press menu button (device's button on the left) and choose "Barometer calibration"
Here you can set offsets. It's the best app I found till now, I always use it
Hello,
yes, I know all apps with "Barometer calibration" function.
Its interesting why barometer lies in the diagnostic menu.
In the factory they shod calibrated barometer.
Maybe some people knows how to calibrate like in factor
Any Ideas?
Sorry, I have no solution.
But does barometer help for GPS? All it can do is help to determine height and that is not accurate as it depends on the weather.
Yeah, mine is totally inaccurate too. Moreover, it's exactly 100mm hg lower than it should be. I believe it's some kind of malfunction with the chip rather than factory calibration.

accelerometer calibration always fails (video included)

i am desperately seeking for a solution with the accelerometer sensor
i cannot use the phone without rotating if i have it on the table or even sometimes in my hand
sensor is off on the x axis = 6 ,
with the calibration tool i have managed to correct it to 5 but if i want to calibrate it to 0 and put it on a flat surface the calibration always fails
here you can see on the video near the end what i am talking about
i found the file responsible for the calibration posibbly acceleration and gyro sensor
just cannot understand the values inside there are so many numbers
location
sys/devices/14e300000.i2c/i2c-66/66-003a/input/input0/calibrator_cmd
any help is appreciated

[Help] Is it posible to read raw data from proximity sensor and corner sensors

Hi,
I'm building a special app on Moto x style that need access to low level data of proximity sensor (not only "near" and "far")
As far as I know, there are at least 2 diodes in a proximity sensor, how can I read raw data from them.
Also, is there a way to read data from 4 IR sensors at the corners of the phone.
Thank you in advance.

I don't think you can, it is internal to sensor I believe, but the kernel tells the sensor what thresholds are LOW and HIGH to set the FAR or NEAR resulting value. I'm not sure how to read it exactly (don't think you can), but we used to fiddle with these on the Rezound (it had a wacky prox sensor). If anyone knows it would be @chad0989 his thread on this is here, it might help.
The values are PS1_CANC (low threshold) and PS2_CANC (high threshold)

Proximity sensor calibration - is this possible?

Hello everyone!
I have a problem with my Galaxy S8 (G950F). Proximity sensor working like is too sensitive - without any screen protectors, cases etc. it showing ADC value of ~2400 and it's always turned on. When I bring my hand closer the value increases and when I move it away it decreases - randomly it starts to work correctly (then the ADC value showing 140-160). I tried to clean the holes near the sensor using compressed air, factory reset, firmware flashing - nothing helped. Is there a way (with or without root) to change initial value at which the sensor begins to detect face, for example to start working when ADC value is greater than 2500?
