I bought the above Nexus 4, I got it today. This is the second Nexus 4 I bought, the packaging and the accessories of the phone is so different from the first Nexus 4 I bought from Google Play store.
It's obvious because the one I got from eBay does not have the Nexus 4 Quick start guide, but LG User Guide with P/N MFL67582702, which is user guide on the phone LG P880? WTF? Why does the Nexus 4 has a P880 user guide?
Do fake Nexus 4 actually exists? Or the package and accessories are different because of regional variation?
photos can be seen here
http://s1150.photobucket.com/user/FinancialWar/library/?sort=3&page=1
The box on the left is bought from Google Play, the one on the right and the phone are from this eBay seller.
CellPhoneForever
Hey,
A quick google search of the company that sold the phone came up with a blog dedicated to saying they are fake and a fraud.
http://cellphoneforeverfraud.wordpress.com/
I think the phone you received could be faked, but I cannot tell without having it physically. The p880 is the code for the Optimus 4X, so I'm sure that there is something fishy going on.
But which smartphone was in the box? P880 is a discontinued one, Optimus 4X.
I think he got a nexus 4 in the box (unsure if real or fake) but received P880 reading materials and packaging along with the nexus 4.

I think that's it. Also the box is shorter as well, but sealed.
So I think they sealed themselves.
But why did they do that? Was the phone refurbished or something?
Can you confirm whether or not the phone is real?

I can not tell if it's really or not because I do not have the first Nexus 4 with me at the moment to make a direct comparison. I'll upload some photo to my OP and see if you can tell me if it's real or fake.
Sounds like a good idea, I'll give it a shot, but let's also get the opinion of some more veteran Nexus 4 users

Relax, pal! Your handset is genuine. Only the accessories are not Nexus 4 genuine.
You bought a Chinese's version. It is a NEW OTHER item:
A new, unused item with absolutely no signs of wear. The item may be missing the original packaging, or in the original packaging but not sealed. The item may be a factory second or a new, unused item with defects. See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.
On Google Play, sell US versions.
To confirm, try update to 4.4.3 from Google servers.
Updates works. But the phone have dead pixels.
Also, the phone is listed as brand new, not new other.

So you have a problem. Open a case on Resolution Center .
This seller Cellphoneforever sell refurbished items like "new one". I got problem like that when I bought XPERIA ARC S one.
Try buy items from Top-Rated Sellers.
How did he manage to seal the box back? And the imei on the box matches the phone too.

So i sent my Nexus 4 with broken back glass the day i got the replacement. Google Play support did not know much but in the email it says i would be charge up to full amount if it was a user error. What does this mean? How much will they charge me for replacing the glass? I am probably not getting that broken one back right?

This is from the Nexus 7 RMA email, I am assuming it is the same for Nexus 4:
UNDERSTAND YOUR WARRANTY COVERAGE
Additional charges up to the full price of your device will be incurred if our service center determines that the damage to your original device isn’t covered under warranty. Prior to ordering your replacement and sending your device for inspection, please refer to the warranty card..

Sounds pretty clear. If the damage is not covered by warranty, you'll be charged up to the full price. I'm curious how much it's going to cost to replace the back of the phone.

Yeah i am curious. I mean if they say $120 i am not going to do it. Just does not make sense. Anything more then $50 its probably BS. They got the phone today. Tomorrow probably will inspect it.

You said they've sent you a replacement already, so I'm not sure you have a choice in the matter any longer - it's going to be fixed and if it's not covered by warranty, you'll be charged.

That would be interesting. From my experience, once you send the device off you'll not hear back from them again, but I've never returned a device I expected would result in an additional charge. I'd be interested to know what Google has to say about it...
edit: the $300 on hold is so they can charge you in the event you don't return the original device.

Alt text: All long help threads should have a sticky globally-editable post at the top saying 'DEAR PEOPLE FROM THE FUTURE: Here's what we've figured out so far ...'
The most "wonderful" thing happened today.
Here's the story:
I bought my Nexus 7 tablet a few months ago. I love this tablet, it's by far the best I've used. Today, I placed my tablet on my table after using it, and turned on some music on my laptop and danced around. It did not fall, didn't fly off, or run and fall down (what?). It was there the ENTIRE time. I then went back after a snack, turned off my music and decided to watch something on Netflix in bed. But one thing alarmed me. The bottom portion (equal to where the camera is on the top) had a gross crack, which extended in three sections to about the bottom half of the screen.
What. The. Heck. ??? Was what I promptly said as I stared at the crack. Now normally I'd shake it off and say "If I can use it, it's fine." HOWEVER, I can use the upper portion and some of the middle, I CANNOT use the bottom half. What does that mean? WELL guess what. It means I can't press the home, back, or other button. So I basically can't use it. Not a good idea after all, is it? I also can't type some letters. If it was in the toppish, I'd be fine with it. But this is ridiculous.
Funny, this happened before with a certain Dell laptop. Closed it. Placed on table after going upstairs. Lifted screen. Huge black gash on it.
Amusing on how cheap products are these days. For paying $199 I wasn't expecting pure gold, but this? Is it THAT sensitive? Please.. what kind of luck do I have.
Now to where I need help. What can I do now?? I sold my cracked laptop for $150, got a $50 from my Dad, and now it just CRACKS. And he woulldn't believe me after the other laptop. Now let me do say I take great care of my things. My phone has no cracks, or dents, or scratches and I've had it even longer. Is it possible to fix it? Please help. why me.. Is there some way I could move where the 3 buttons are? ugh.
You could buy a OTG cable and use a mouse on your nexus 7. As long you can see the screen to click on things. You can pickup a OTG cable for couple dollars on amazon or eBay.
If you bought the tablet from Google store. Try contacting them about trying to get it fixed. If you bought it else where you would have to contact Asus about it.

The one the OP linked has an official Qi logo on it, which is supposed to mean it's certified. The one you linked doesn't, which usually implies it's not certified. Pretty big difference there (even though our pre-rev12 Nexus 4 phones aren't certified).

Except in the description it says it's qi certified. And the logo does nothing for qi certification and it's absence doesn't mean anything since one of the best wireless chargers, the wcp-700, doesn't have the logo. I'm sure it's against copyrights or whatever to use the logo without certification, but every certified device clearly doesn't need to use to logo. But the guy simply said that the fast tech chargers looked nothing like the one in the OP, and it's pretty obvious the one I linked to is basically identical except for the logo

Has anyone tested that $40 one (http://www.fasttech.com/products/1215400) with the Nex4 and can confirm it works with the bumper case?
This $40 one is USB powered and output 0.7 A vs. 1 A for the other $36 one (http://www.fasttech.com/products/1142301), i wonder if it has any impact on charging time and capabilities and if it has an issue with topping up the battery?
I have 2 different n7 2013, one of them has a Ce, made in china and do not put in the trash logo below the little logo on the back and one does not. Is something wrong with that?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
Is it just a sticker?
Also are they from different manufacturing months (on the box if you still have them)?
They are both 07 2013, both bought in north america, and it's printed, not a Sticker.
More precisely: both bought in the United states.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
mine says made in china 2013.7 on the box, but nothing on the unit itself.
edit: ok i looked again and it is on mine, had to use a light and get a look from an angle.
i also noticed that the box says "perchlorate material", which some u.s. states classify
as a hazardous waste. hence, i assume, the trash warning.
It's normal, never noticed it on mine until closer inspection plus the fact I put a case on pretty much straight away but it's there under the 'ASUS' branding only fainter than the one shown below.

Most of the images on Google of the Nexus 7 will be from specific site reviews, not many individual buyers will put up high res images of their unit.
Still you could be onto something but I thought electronic devices had to display that info anyway, the original Nexus 7 had it displayed as a sticker due to the soft touch material back.
Also I would thought it'd be the other way round having info for retail & not bothering for demo units etc.
Or maybe just they ran out of stamping ink or forgot with some units?
Both my Nexus 7 2013 and my Nexus 4 have that on the back. I wasn't aware any units were sold without it, thought it was a legal thing (the same info is normally under the back cover of phones, but neither of these devices have removable backs)
Strange how some have em and some dont
it could be to do with shipping aswell but strange
its from same place
AlderCass' picture shows exactly what i mean. The unit i am writing from now doea not have that. both were warehouse used - like new versions from amazon by the way.

Yea DON'T UPDATE it.
You could probably install a custom rom though to get newer versions that don't include the updated touchscreen.
as far as i can tell, both of my units have little to no touchscreen issues. little enough for me not do anything.
the version without the ce logo runs paranoid android rc 2.99
the version with the logo runs stock android 4.3 (ota update installed)
abut the ce marking thing: that means the one with ce marking could have been sold in europe to. Then I still wonder why they bother to make 2 different back cases.

No way it could have those specs for $300 when it came out. It was easily a $500 phone at the time. That means it would be well under $200 now, by your logic. Think.

How about these ways:
Camera - that shouldn't be hard. Just have a camera that can actually focus would be great while taking videos
Smaller bezels - I hope, the Nexus 6 has huge bezels which make it really wide, more than it should be
CPU - Even if it is the Snapdragon 810, the gpu is 30% faster. I am sure the overheating issue will be improved upon by now. Could always declock the cpu if needed
Fingerprint reader - Might be really cool, but I can take or leave this
Screen - I was dissapointed in the screen coming from a Note 3 to a Nexus 6. I felt the Note 3 had a brighter, clearer, more vibrant screen. Even if the resolution was lower.
Flat Back - Man it drives me nuts that when I put the N6 on the Qi charger I have to set it soo perfectly.
Just my opinion though.
there was also a coupon code for an extra 45 bucks off. crazy how the price is dropping so much.
doesn't seem to have much information on what type of warranty this nexus 6 has. I'd make sure you find all the information on that first before you buy. Might be better to go with amazon or best buy for the 50 bucks extra to make sure you get a solid warranty with it. If someone finds the information regarding it on this ebay sale please post it.
