My phone is straight out of factory settings at the moment. Considering taking it back. Has anyone else noticed horribly muffled and/or robotic call quality at times with their device? I can't seem to figure out how to fix it. Tried Wi-Fi calling on / off, Airrave, Wi-Fi completely turned off, enabled/disabled background noise supression, etc.

Hello, does anyone experience this? You call someone and then it doesnt ring.. I tried like 3 people and it does the same thing.. eventually it disconnects...
this happens to me sometimes, eventually the other person on the line will hang up because im still thinking its trying to connect. i usually put it on speaker so i hear the ringing then turn it right back off. but yes, i do have this issue.
yes i have this issue with CM5b3....if you set it to speaker then back to regular it will work, im not sure if this is a CM issue or just a n1 issue....i also noticed it happens mainly when the call previous was on speaker phone when the call ended, seems to be a problem in the sound routing subsystem
Hi everyone. I recently got a new LG G2 from tmobile directly around a month ago. I flashed CloudyG3 on it and that's about it. I love everything about except how the sound quality is... abysmal. The person I'm speaking with sounds like they're moving away from the phone at times and there's also a tinny quality. When the other person uses a headset, it sounds perfect. The second issue I have is how whenever I have Wifi and bluetooth on at the same time they'll both eventually stop working. Let's say I'm on a call and I have wifi on, after maybe 10-15 minutes or so I would not get any audio output from my bluetooth headset and will have to restart my phone or hang up the call. There's also the issues with my wifi always saying it's "turning on" but it doesn't accomplish anything until I restart the phone. Does anyone know if this is a hardware issue or just something else that can be fixed? I really want to love this phone but I can't live with having to constantly reset my phone. Thanks in advance!
Anyone? I don't think TMo can even offer me an exchange since they're completely out of stock.
Hello,
I have not seen a thread on this nor has Google searches helped but I have an issue I wanted to post to see if anyone else was having the issue.
I use my phone for work and often have it on speaker phone, out of no where the call goes quite and the person on the other end of the call can not hear me anymore. Upon looking at the phone the speaker phone seems to get disabled and the call goes back to the handset. This happens often when using the speakerphone but certain calls are worse then others.
In one call I had the speaker phone get disabled about 10 times which was close to every 30 seconds or so. This is very very annoying, I have also rebooted the phone. At this time I am not modded and have less then ten apps installed and I am pretty sure none of the apps I installed are causing the issue.
I will note that I do have the phone connected to bluetooth a lot and when the issue happened I tried to disable the bluetooth while on the call but the issue persisted.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
Speaker phone and Bluetooth turning off at random
I am having the exact same problem. But for me this happens with Bluetooth and speakerphone. This is getting really frustrating for me and potentially dangerous when I try to switch back to Bluetooth while driving.
Have you figured out a solution for this yet ?
Hi all,
I've owned my S4 for a year an a half and out of nowhere started experiencing a huge issue today.
I have no audio whatsoever - earpiece or mic - when making a cellular call. I dial, and the call goes through (the other party receives the cal), but I have no audio. Even when plugging in a headset, still no audio. Incoming calls exhibit the same problem.
When connected to bluetooth, I do have audio + mic through the bluetooth device. As soon as I disable bluetooth, the issue returns.
All other apps/audio work fine - VOIP, texting, data... I can make Hangouts calls and the earpiece and microphone work.
I've rebooted the phone; that worked for a few minutes then the problem came back. I also did a battery + microSD + sim card pull, that fixed the issue for probably 30 minutes, then it returned.
I also flashed a new rom just to see if it would fix it - it didn't. Removed microSD, no fix.
I'm running Stock GPE 5.1 and have been for many months with no issues whatsoever, then this creeps up out of nowhere today. I've done some searches and other people have had the issue but I can't seem to find a definitive fix. Some report faulty SIM reader, but I have no problems otherwise with my SIM, and BT calls work so that would seem to rule that out?
Has anyone had this issue and/or fixed it?
Best,
-Dirk
OK so it appears to be hardware!
While making a test call, I took the back cover off and moved my finger around the upper area of the phone - near the SIM card slot - and applied various amounts of pressure. The in-call audio returned! However if I jostle the phone a bit, I lose audio. So some sort of connection in that area is loose or fraying or something.
Has anyone else had a similar issue? Perhaps tightening things would fix?
I'm completely stumped on how to fix this issue. As soon as I take a call (either a normal call, skype, viber, talkatone, etc I've tried a lot) the audio quality on the phone becomes very distorted. I tested it playing music in the background and the song audio immediately distorts and stays very low quality while the call is going and as soon as I hang up the call the audio goes back to normal.
The audio on the call is also terrible on both ends and this happens regardless of if I'm using earphones or the phone's own speaker. I've tried a factory reset and also tried clearing the cache. If anyone has any idea what's happening when I take a call I'd be super grateful. I'm on a verizon prepaid 16gb.
Since it seems to do it with regular audio, and not just calls, I would say the best bet is to exchange it since you already tried a factory reset.

But it only happens when a call is active and as soon as the call ends the audio goes back to normal. I assume this is a software issue and not hardware but you may be right to exchange it.
