Are you on an unlocked bootloader? If not, you cannot downgrade.

You can't downgrade even with an unlocked bootloader. Just tried this morning and got a security downgrade error or somesuch.
He's probably getting a flash failed error. Easiest way to fix that is just to successfully flash something simple like the logo.
fastboot flash logo logo.bin

You CAN flash back to JB from KK if you have an unlocked bootloader using RSD, I've done it a few times when I tried KK.
I used VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-94-1_CFC.xml and removed these lines.
<step var="max-download-size" operation="getvar"/>
<step var="fb_mode_set" operation="oem"/>
<step operation="flash" MD5="FB3D9083F1B5890BBF2FA8617D31A70A" filename="gpt_main0.bin" partition="partition"/>
<step operation="flash" partition="tz" filename="tz.mbn" MD5="474F31095C8146D1F86D0E5CE72B878F" />

How did you know which lines were safe to omit and which to keep?
I tried just flashing system.img by itself, apparently that alone was not enough for it to boot.

Help! I accidentally Formatted "Modem" in CWM!

Hey guys I was trying to do a COMPLETE WIPE for a fresh start on 4.4 and start new.
I wiped and formated everything that is possible thinking once I flash stock 4.1.2 from AP Fastboot it would restore a clean factory version. I WAS VERY WRONG. So I flashed stock 4.1.2 and was getting it set up until I had to connect to WIFI, which would not turn on or find any signal. So I decided to skip and use mobile data... No dice either. Tried flashing .78 radio for the RAZR M among earlier radios.
I have no idea how to fix this, out of my years working with androids never have I had a problem as bad as this that I can't figure out. Does anyone have any suggestions that could help?
I'm planning on taking it in in a few days from now if I can't find a solution, normally the people at Verizon don't know crap when it comes to it being Unlocked or Rooted.
ANY HELP IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

RSD is a program which will use an image file for the device to flash all needed files to stock, including the modem.

I've got similar issues to the OP.
Somehow can only get data via cell networks (4G working).
I can't turn WiFi on either.
I tried to use RSD Lite 6.1.4 and 6.1.5 to go back to stock
Used the latest Motorola Drivers (from motorola website as of today)
The 4.1.2 file from the Firmware Team (VZW_XT907_4.1.2-9.8.1Q-66_1FF.xml.zip from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/scorpion_mini_xt907/list.php)
I get the following error in RSD.

A format will require a full rsd to restore or use my restore sticky.
Hey Avi
I was using your restore sticky, just going with stock to avoid any issues. I'm also pretty sure I followed your directions exactly. Used VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-78-1_1FF.xml

Separate note, Is the VRZ*.xml what you mean by Full RSD vs the VZW*.xml?

I mean full rsd (or my restore) vs radio update: will not fix the partition.
My restore is only for ...78 unlocked. The ...78 locked needs the RZR step too.

Gotcha on the full RSD, that is what I've been trying to do.
I've got an unlocked bootloader with status code 3. But still no dice getting the 78 onto my device. What is the RZR step? I think I missed that.

The current stock version is 9.8.1Q.94-1 and the full XML.zip is up on droid developers site with all the rest of the firmware. Use that and it won't fail because of trying to revert to an older gpt.bin file.

What version of RSD Lite are you using?
6.15 is latest and has a newer binary that supports large partition image sizes.
Or use fastboot by itself to flash the images.

I am using that version.
How can I manually flash them from fastboot?
I know how to flash IMG files but not BIN.
Use the following commands to flash the modem.
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot erase tombstones
If it's still failing to flash system with RSD Lite 6.15 then it is likely that you have other problems.
What was the error when flashing system?
Thank you so much!!!!!!!! It worked!!!!! She lives!!!!!!

Wouldn't recommend you try it on a locked bootloader.
Those that are unlocked shouldn't have any issues.
Technically, with a locked bootloader, if Fastboot will allow you to downgrade, then it should be possible.
You'd have to boot into Fastboot, then run the command:
fastboot flash system system.img
Where system.img is the 4.1.2 image file extracted from the fxz file. If it won't let you do this, then downgrade isn't possible. It will likely say failed flash and you'll have to flash something to kick the phone out of fastboot like logo.img.
You could also try RSDLite and try to flash the 4.1.2 fxz, but I doubt that will work because bootloader and such are not downgradeable and it will likely fail.

You can get them here:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=8
You can extract the original system.img from the archive as well as logo.img in case the phone doesn't allow you to flash system.img, you can use logo.img to kick the phone out of Fastboot. You will need to install Motorola ADB drivers on your computer in advance, and also need a fastboot.exe file which I think you can find via Google, but if you have ever rooted your phone in the past, usually that also came with fastboot.
Anyway, get into fastboot mode by turning off the phone, then holding down all 3 buttons. Use vol- to select Fastboot and vol+ to choose it. Phone should boot into fastboot.
Connect to PC and issue command:
fastboot flash system system.img
If it works, the phone should be downgraded. If it says flash failed, then downgrade isn't possible. In that case, if the phone is stuck in fastboot mode and can't be rebooted, issue this command to get out of fastboot.
fastboot flash logo logo.img
That should let it reboot as normal.
I actually doubt it's possible to downgrade, but I haven't tried it myself so I can't say for sure.

I think it would stay unlocked since you wouldn't be reflashing the radio.
It is easy enough to re-unlock if that should get reversed, however.
Ah, nevermind. Don't bother to try it. Even if you could succeed, you'd end up with black screen after the logo. The newer bootloaders will not allow Jellybean to boot. There is no way to downgrade. KitKat is a one way road with a locked BL. Sorry!

Good news is that major developments happened a month ago. :good:
You can now root AND unlock bootloader on KitKat. I think you can find the info you need in this thread:

Once you have bootloader unlocked, you can downgrade back to JB. I have tried it and can confirm it works.
Good luck!

You just run it and let it do its thing. Your phone should be rooted once it has rebooted. You can verify with any rootchecker app.
Then install and run Motopocalypse.apk to unlock your bootloader.
You can the use RSDLite to flash back to JellyBean using the JB fxz file. You will need to edit the xml file in the fxz file, removing the lines with gpt.bin and tz.mbn.

bricked xt902 (softbank 201m)

Hi everyone!
I have XT902 after trying unlock. Now it is booting up only in fastboot and recovery. Factory firmwares for xt902 are not flashing at all (only recovery partition is). BUT i can flash any partition from VERIZON_XT907_4.4.2_KPA20.10.1 except boot, recovery, system
Does anybody have XT902, updated to official 4.4.2 via OTA? With locked boot?
Please upload dumps of partitions boot, recovery, system
Not yet for 4.4.2 firmware via RSD, but 4.4.2 for this machine like there - information from technical support.
It is necessary to restore my brick.
also any OTA update .zip files for this phone are can be useful.

There is no 4.4.2 for the XT902 and according to Motorola never will be.
Here is the latest XML (it's still 4.0.4) and here is the latest OTA to 4.1.2.

@sd_shadow great work brother. I'm badly in need of some help from you.
I've got everything right from your tutorial. Except for, when I try to flash the firmware on RSD lite, flashing stops at with an error "Failed flashing process. 3/27 flash partition "gpt.bin" -> Phone returned FAIL"
I'm assuming this is because of a stupidest mistake that I did while I was trying to flash the nougat update zip on my Moto G4 Plus (XT1634). Out of my right sense, I used the firmware downgrade codes while flashing the updated zip. This might have incorrectly flashed the partition, boot image and the recovery image from the update file.
Now I'm stuck with the bootloader which gives my security version downgrade error when I try to flash even the latest MM firmware.
I was somehow able to flash an extracted recovery image from the nougat update zip. But, it just gives me a blank screen when I select the option ' apply update from SD card '
Attached is a picture of the bootloader and recovery screen. Any help in reviving my phone is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Yes. I tried removing those lines. Still did not work. I get the same error for every file (boot, recovery, oem etc.) that RSD lite tries to flash.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for taking time in responding to me. just a bit confused here.
My device is already getting detected as a 'Motorola ADB Device,' under device manager. However, when I enter the code 'adb devices ' in Command window, it does not return any devices. Although my phone responds to all adb codes.
Should I still follow the adb and fastboot setup guide?
PS : 'fastboot devices ' code in Command window will show my device code listed.

I totally understand that. My phone is responding to both adb and fastboot commands. Just that I get errors while in the process of flashing.
Hi everybody
I have installed cm13 on my moto g4 plus xt1642.
I have flashed elementalx-g4-0.07-cm.zip and installed mod wake gestures in xposed.
Here I'm getting a msg that wake gestures are not supported or they haven't been enabled .

Unable to make any calls using jio sim after updating to nougat of android 7.0 although mobile data is working completely fine. Also Jio4GVoice is online and no errors are shown regarding that app. Please help!
After Nougat update, I don't get navigation bar popping up when fingerprint scanner is touched while in full screen mode. For example while watching videos, I used to touch the scanner and navigation bar would pop up. Has this feature been removed?

How is flashing an older boot.img and bootloader.img going to help? There are plenty of places to find the old image file, just unzip and extract.... but don't think that's going to solve anything. Are you on the current stock .019 build?
