@sd_shadow great work brother. I'm badly in need of some help from you.
I've got everything right from your tutorial. Except for, when I try to flash the firmware on RSD lite, flashing stops at with an error "Failed flashing process. 3/27 flash partition "gpt.bin" -> Phone returned FAIL"
I'm assuming this is because of a stupidest mistake that I did while I was trying to flash the nougat update zip on my Moto G4 Plus (XT1634). Out of my right sense, I used the firmware downgrade codes while flashing the updated zip. This might have incorrectly flashed the partition, boot image and the recovery image from the update file.
Now I'm stuck with the bootloader which gives my security version downgrade error when I try to flash even the latest MM firmware.
I was somehow able to flash an extracted recovery image from the nougat update zip. But, it just gives me a blank screen when I select the option ' apply update from SD card '
Attached is a picture of the bootloader and recovery screen. Any help in reviving my phone is greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Yes. I tried removing those lines. Still did not work. I get the same error for every file (boot, recovery, oem etc.) that RSD lite tries to flash.

Hi,
Thanks a lot for taking time in responding to me. just a bit confused here.
My device is already getting detected as a 'Motorola ADB Device,' under device manager. However, when I enter the code 'adb devices ' in Command window, it does not return any devices. Although my phone responds to all adb codes.
Should I still follow the adb and fastboot setup guide?
PS : 'fastboot devices ' code in Command window will show my device code listed.

Hi everybody

After Nougat update, I don't get navigation bar popping up when fingerprint scanner is touched while in full screen mode. For example while watching videos, I used to touch the scanner and navigation bar would pop up. Has this feature been removed?

Maybe it's removed as you can't configure too much as the N Stock rom is really near to aosp. Wait for others to confirm, be patient as the rollout has started

Pre-requisites:
a) Download and install Motorola Moto EDrivers
b) Download and extract the stock Firmware of your choosing
c) If the firmware file you downloaded is a .xml.zip file then download Motorola Fastboot View attachment 2427667 (attached to this post) and extract the .exe into the same folder as the stock firmware files (the same folder as the .bin and .img files). If your firmware is a .tar.gz file then skip this step.
d) Get ADB (if you don't already have this, I suggest downloading and installing Minimal ADB and Fastboot by shimp208:
Direct Download
Disclaimer:
Follow these instructions at your own risk. If something goes wrong don't blame me!
These are the original stock signed image files from Motorola it should work on all Moto E Variants.
Steps to restore stock firmware:
1) Reboot the phone into bootloader mode. There are 2 ways to do this.
I) The 'hardware' way.
a) Unplug the USB cable and power off the phone.
b) Press and hold 'Volume down' then power on the phone.
c) Connect USB cable to your computer.
II) The 'software' way.
a) Enable developer mode on the Moto E (Settings-> 'About Phone'. Tap 7 times on 'Build Number')
b) Enable USB debugging. (Settings -> 'Developer options' -> 'USB Debugging' -> check)
c) Connect phone to computer via USB, you should see a new ADB device detected and drivers installed.
d) Open "Minimal ADB and Fastboot". Type:
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
You should see the Moto E bootloader screen with the following options:
Code:
Normal Powerup
Recovery
Factory
Switch Console [NULL: null]
Barcodes
BP Tools
2) Open a command prompt / terminal (Start -> cmd.exe in Win7) and browse to the folder with the extracted firmware.
In my case:
Code:
cd c:\falcon_retgb_user_4.3_14.10.0Q3.X-76-LGG-8_54_release-keys-cid7-Retail_GB
3)
Flash each of the partitions in sequence using mfastboot, you need to enter the following commands one-by-one checking that each one returns an [OKAY]
Code:
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk1
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk2
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk3
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot erase userdata
mfastboot reboot
For Indian variants
Code:
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
mfastboot.exe flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
[/HIDE]
Downgrading:
4) Wait, you should now be rebooted into a fully stock Moto E firmware.

FAQ
Q1: Will this work on locked bootloaders?
Ans: Yes as stock firmwares are digitally signed by Motorola.
Edit post as per the device.
There's Moto G written everywhere instead of Moto E.

#1 Thanks For your Guide
#2 I've corrected all the things in the OP post.
The system.img filenames can differ depending on the version of the firmware. For example with the 'O2 UK' firmware the commands would be:
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2

Want MOTO E Stock Boot Animation
Hello,

The bootanimation now is only "android" page.
Can anyone help me get the stock Motorola Bootanimation?

The HotROM Box - Early Build
Hey people, I'm spamtheboss, former known on Titan forum on Miui V6 development and also a few tricks I've posted there. But, I have a project called The HotROM Box, which consists in a tool that provides almost everything you need to restore your device in no time, basically an automator. All you need is your adb and fastboot and (for now) your Stock FW.
Main Features
Stock ROM Flashing method
TWRP Recovery Flashing method
Phone Reboot option
Reboot to Bootloader option
Reboot to Recovery option
Dealing with The HotROM Box
1.1: Install
-Copy all files to the folder where your Stock ROM files are located.
1.2: Usabillity
Windows: .bat interactive menu
Linux: .sh interactive menu using Zenity
1.3: F.A.Q (Frequently Asked Questions)
- Q: ROM flashing doesn't work!
- A: You're probably using mFastboot, an alternative version of fastboot. Install the original version and this issue will be solved (until I release a alternative version)
- Q: TWRP flashing doesn't work!
- A: If you haven't downloaded this file via xda official thread some stuff may be corrupted. TWRP image is uploaded with the script and you must copy those to your ROM folder.
- Q: ETA?
- A: Please, do not ask this kind of question. I'm not a dev, I just like (very much) to program some cool stuff, and if something on the code goes wrong, warn me and i'll fix it and release a new version as soon as I can.
- Q: Will you add more features?
- A: Always, this tool will grow with features as the way I improve my programming skills.
Changelog
Initial Release (Stock ROM flashing, TWRP flashing and other minor options)
Added alternative mFastboot flashing method
Tool ported to THEA and OSPREY

Yes, it's a .bat file. You need the extracted ROM files and the Fastboot files on the same folder. It's pretty important to avoid brick the phone due to typos.

Yes, as Nelson said, you need to put the .bat file and the .img into the same folder of the adb, fastboot and the Stock ROM. I'll push an update today just to bring it all together instead of pasting it to some weird directory (like the people who installed adb within android studio); Stock ROM direct download can be mentioned too, but just on a future version.

Hello unkushad, sorry for the late answer. Yes, it will wipe the whole internal storage, because Android needs to clean all the remaining data from the other versions.

They're missing because I removed them. This tool *for now* doesn't lock the bootloader. I will update it later to add this feature.

mm compatibility??
I'm new here, so sorry if this is a duff post.
I've done searches to no avail.
I bought my x play second hand. It's been rooted to a none stock android 7.0. I'm having issues with sd card being unrecognised. I've read that this could be a motherboard problem. I've checked it with a number of different cards that all work absolutely fine on other devices.
My question is, would it help if I returned my phone to stock then upgraded to the proper versions of android via the download direct to phone?
If so, is there an updated method? The one I tried to follow uses SDK but the instructions seem to be for an old version (it's a 2015 post) as the version of Android Studio I installed seems to be unrecognisable from what is being described. I'm not savvy enough with these systems to work out what I need to do instead.
Thanks in advance.
Another thought, would it be worth installing a different none stock ROM?
if you are rooted, install twrp and try other custom rom

Will LTE work fine with this MM 1-Oct-2016 ROM?
Also instead of running all these commands one after another, can you please point me to a .zip file, which i can directly flash it from TWRP like other ROMs? Thats much easier for me than running all these commands manually.

lte works normaly.
you need find backup from stock that can be installed from twrp. i don't have it. adb fastboot method is faster. and you don't read all my answers. you don't need use commands, just 1 file.
Really appreciate the links and steps!!! Thanks.

Currently I am running on LIneageOS Nougat 7.1.1. I am planning to do this downgrade to MM if I really don't like the battery backup on Nougat 7.1.1.
Really appreciate the links and steps!!! Thanks.

BTW, one question. How do you run that single batch file?
... restart phone to bootloader, connect to pc, and run this file.
Okay, I've now discovered that TWRP is already installed. Can I use any xt1562 zipped Rom or does it need to be specific to TWRP. I've put the zip on my phone ready to go and done a nandroid backup but wanted to check first before I hit install.
Thanks again
Hi, yesterday i have unlock bootloader of my moto g4, xt 1622 , i have flashed twrp and this is perfect, but after i have flashed zip of magisk.zip for root permission, when i reboot i obtain only black screen and led white ( intermittence led) .
The device is recognize by windows 10 (in test mode and no signature driver verify ) but not in tray bar..
Mode recognized by pc are:
in fast boot like " fastboot athene_13mp S " in "other device"
In adb mode " sideload" ( from stock recovery) like "Moto g4 plus " in device manager/usb devices"
I have stock recovery and can't start blank flash because the device isn t recognized by pc like qualcomm device..
What can i do??? Thanks a lot my friends!!
The problem is that magisk is not compatible with the Stock kernel, so if you want magisk you need to flash a custom kernel, i recomend this: https://elementalx.org/devices/moto-g4/ you need to flash the kernel and after this flash magisk.
Regards
Wow! So the phone is save? ?
And what can i flash pther kernel, can i have a guide plz? Can i flash with sideload? Thanks!
Yes, you need to enter un recovery, conect your phone to pc and with adb put in the cmd adb sideload nameofyourzip.zip and then flash magisk with sideload if hoy wanr
Unfortunately i recive this error.. what can i do? Thanks!!

Ok, first you need to install twrp: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...p-twrp-3-0-2-2-recovery-moto-g4-plus-t3386586
Then you need to go in twrp to avanced and adb sideload and flash it.
Hmm, can you confirm if you have stock Marshmallow (6.0.1) or Nougat (7.0) on your device? I see from the stock recovery version that it's 6.0.1/MPJ24.139-23-4 (a really old build of Marshmallow).
Thanks ismael! I m going to try it
@ECHO first of this mods, the smartphone have nougat full stock. When i have installed twrp the sistem started normally, but when i flashed magisk the sistem started with black screen, before this i ve factory reset and flash a zip of stock rom.. and start a very problem!!
Thaks a lot to all for help me and sorry for my bad english.

Thanks, as Ismael034202 pointed out above, if you were on stock Nougat, then you will need to flash a custom kernel, as rooting on the stock Motorola Nougat kernel will cause a boot failure. If you were still on Nougat, then you could have followed this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo...de-root-moto-g4-plus-supersu-android-t3587918 with flashing magisk instead of SuperSU.
As you've re-flashed the old Marshmallow stock ROM, then you do not need a custom kernel (Marshmallow stock ROM kernels are less strict about rooting), flashing TWRP and then flashing magisk should work on Marshmallow.
However, you need to be very careful if you revert back to full stock - as you've appeared to have downgraded from Nougat, taking OTA updates may hard brick your device. If you can remember what Nougat stock ROM you had before unlocking your device, I would recommend downloading a copy of that stock ROM and using the stock ROM to update. Try not to use stock OTA updates.
Very well explained echo92. +1 ?

Hmm, in that case, the easiest way may be to flash the latest stock ROM to your device and start over again. As an alternative, do you have a TWRP backup of your device?
For XT1622, you'll likely want NPJS25.93-14-13 (Nougat, 7.0 stock, December 2017 security patch) firmware from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/stock-rom-npjs25-93-14-4-march-1-t3608138
Download and extract as directed in the post, and to flash to repair your device, use the following flashing commands:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
fastboot flash logo logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash dsp adspso.bin
fastboot flash oem oem.img
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.0
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.1
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.2
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.3
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.4
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.5
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.6
fastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk.7
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot reboot

This should not re-lock your bootloader. Next, download TWRP, ElementalX and magisk and flash as I suggested in the guide above. The basic guide for rooting on Nougat is:
a)Flash/boot TWRP. Backup your device.
b)Flash ElementalX.
c)Flash magisk or SuperSU.
d)Wipe cache/Dalvik in TWRP.
e)Reboot and wait for boot.
f)Any issues, revert to your backup made in a)
Can i use fastboot within debug usb off? Because i recive an error, i m tryng and post a pic.
Thanks
This is my situation after try to use fastboot
Hace you installed Motorola drivers for pc, you can use fastboot without USB debugging
https://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/rola/es/solution/MS89882 This os the link for the fastboot drivers
Thanks guys!! I had write the stock 7.0!! Now the phone is perfect!! Thanks!!
I had wrong driver and pc not recognized the phone!! Now yes ??
Now install twrp, elementalX Kernel, magisk and enjoy

I don t know.. the problem is the corrupted bootloader ( i think..)
Hi,
I installed the PPW29.116-20 FIRMWARE for pie 9, it was working fine until I uninstalled magisk and now it will only boot to Fastboot mode saying "No bootable A/B slot".
The problem however it the device it no longer detected in adb to reinstall. adb devices returns no devices. This is odd as it was working fine before.
I have tried with both moto and universal adb drivers, changed cables and even changed computers - nothing it making it appear.
Any help would be much appreciated
Use Fastboot!
