HI Everyone,
For a few days now I have been unable to dial out or receive calls from my phone. I have checked with my mobile phone operators and everything is fine on there side of things. I do think that it has happened since rooting my phone. I have been sent a new sim and that has not helped at all and I have set operators.
Its very strange, when I try to call someone it hangs up everytime. When people call me they are just unable to get through. If anyone knows why this might be, please let me know. I have literally tried everything. PS. I have signal on my phone as well.
Thanks
Andy

Thanks jdomadia. I have the SM-N9005 I am able to receive the internet on my phone for example 4g is fine. When I check the IMEI Number of my phone it shows my number with a "/ 01" after it. When I check about my phone and see my IMEI Number it show it without the "/ 01" If you need anymore information, just let me know.
Im wondering if I backup and then restore the IMEI Number if that will make a difference but I dont know how to do that.
Thanks
Andy
Note down imei dialing *#06# compare with sticker under battery, comform first both imei before doing anything, if you are receiving sms message than chances of imei corruption is not there.

Ok, I have not managed to get this resolved yet and have tried everything. The IMEI number is perfect, not a problem with it at all. I believe it is the Modem as im not able to dial out or receive calls yet im able to use mobile internet. Please can someone put me in the right direction of how I can resolve this?
I would really love to fix this now...Its been like 2 weeks without my mobile phone.
Many thanks in advance

As you know, most operators do not support voice calls over LTE. When the phone wants to initiate or receive a call, it falls back to a 3G network.
It seems to me that your phone is not doing this fall back, and you need to figure out why.
One way to test it would be to set the phone to 3G network only mode and then test calling. Can you try this and report back?

I'm not a fan of flashing modems so can't offer any advice there.
Just to clarify, you have never been able to do voice calls with this phone on this operator network? Can you tell us which operator it is and which networks (GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, LTE etc.) they provide. Do you know if they use SVLTE (simultaneous voice and LTE)?
Also, when you are on GSM, are you still able to do data or SMS?

I faced similar problems couple of times. Antenna used to show full bar, but when I try to make a call it used to show 'No Network Signal ' error.
I tried removing the battery, sim, but nothing worked.
When I switched of the data network , I was able to make calls. This happened to me in on one of the earlier GB rom. Not able to reproduce the bug.

Just thought i'd post an inquiry after having it drive me nuts now. I'll try to describe it but the subject should be descriptive enough!
Basically what happens, you go to dial a number (or dial from contacts) and the phone calls out then hangs up (hangup tone) then quickly dials your intended number. When you look at the call log you see 2 calls, one being 0min 0sec then the next one right after with the amount of time you spent on said call.
I saw this in another thread and decided to make a thread about the topic instead of clouding up that one:

I have directdial feature on my SIM which allows me to dial international numbers directly. My AT&T MVNO includes international calls - H2O Wireless but you normally needs a access number, their new SIMs got direct dialling now and I think that's what's causing the double dial thing.
When i dial an international number it sends me to the access number then my phone pops up a toast that says "Sending" which then sends the actual number i'm calling. It then connects after some information about the call. I think it does this for all calls on the N4 but then drops the first call to the access number and dials the number straight to the local number instead.
What's weird however is i don't have that issue with my SGS2 and the NEW SIM cards so it's something with the N4.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-4/236548-solavei-google-voice-2.html
Seems to be going on there too with the double dialling issue but obviously with a different provider.
same here
You're absolutely right, I had noticed the same issue but never really thought of checking the call log. After reading your post I checked my call log and every single outgoing call had been logged twice. The first had a zero second duration and the other had the actual call duration.
Solavei
Theres a couple of use having this issue on the Solavei network! i think it might be a bug with 4.2 and mvno's. we tried reporting this to our carrier but they have no idea what can be causing this! I have replaced sim card, phone, and deleted the google voice app and none have solve this issue! i think we have to contact google and let them know about this issue.
I've had a similar issue. I'll type in the number hit send, then after i put the phone to my ear I hear it dial the number and I get nothing until I end the call. In the call log, it shows 0min 0sec but it's not duplicated. Strange thing is that it only happens when I dial a toll free 877 number. It's never happened on local or long distance call or on 866 numbers. Haven't tried an 800 number yet.
about the double dial... i noticed a different issue few days ago...
i dont get a double dial for call log... but what happens is
after i finish a call... the phone automatically dials the second last person from the call log...and disconnects the call automatically...
first i got scared of whats happening and but call never went through... it got disconnected after a while
I have the exact same problem as shotta35. I'm in Canada, so on a different network most likely (rogers).
I've tried the factory reset, didn't fix anything. Tried switching to EDGE mode, doesn't do anything. enabled/disabled bluetooth (in case it was some kind of bluetooth dialing thing). Incoming calls don't seem affected in any way.
However, this hasn't happened every time to me. there were 3 or 4 calls where it did work the first time, just after a reboot typically.
Anyways, still looking into it and hoping someone can find the solution because this is annoying!
Any updates on this? Quick question for the ones with the problem. Is your Sim cut or micro? Is it rooted?

Ok I'm on solavei with a cut Sim card. Rooted using mmuzy ROM. So the problem could be root. I asked about the Sim because last week I was on straight talk with micro Sim and had no problems. What service are you on?

With solavei
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
I doubt root would be the cause of this but I guess anything is possible. I had the same carrier with an older SIM (manually cut) when I first got my N4 then upgraded to the microSIM. With the original SIM I didn't have the double dial thing but I rooted around the same time I switched SIMs so I don't remember when it started.
I have this too. If you use Google voice, even as VM only as I do, it double dials on outbound calls. Only seems to happen with solavei if you have voice installed on N4. Doesn't happen with any other phones with solavei AFAIK.
I just don't care I'm so pleased w solavei otherwise. I tried porting my phone # to Google voice previously, and I hated how text messages would not be left alone with the stock app. Then I tried T-Mobile prepaid and I found out it doesn't let you use Google voice as VM. So given that I have Google voice voicemail and SMS working properly finally at least, this bothers me very little.
I found that if you return a call directly from Google voice voicemail it only dials once..

double dialing fixed
I had the same issue, and I finally figured it out. I`m on Rogers Canada, so I switched my sim with my wife`s (on Rogers as well) and my Nexus 4 had to restart. When booted up the problem was gone. Next day I went to a Rogers store and bought a new sim, activated it and I`ve been using it for 24 hrs now and the problem is completely gone.
Another issue that got fixed was using the 2 second pause or hard wait while dialing. I guess when the phone was double dialing it dropped the pause/wait in the second dial. but now it works perfectly.
By the way new sim is LTE enabled, and I have LTE enabled on the phone as well and it's working fine.

rooting will not kill your network connection. that's something that you did. you need to provide a LOT more information in order to have people help you out,
what ROM are you on, what settings did you change, what mobile carrier are you on, etc. etc. this is a simple fix, but we need to know what caused it first. :good:

I don't know what the problem is but you should be able to flash the stock firmware in Odin and get your phone working again. Double check this in the i9500, i9505, i9505G S4 forum. You can get the stock firmware from sammobile.com

He should be able to flash it himself. The i9505 is not locked down like the i337. It's an international version so he probably can't take it to best buy, which is what I was responding to.

Data enabled, but no internet connection
Hello,
I have the stock rooted i337 (AT&T), running on another provider network. I am aware that i337 is very difficult to do modifications due to the built-in by AT&T vicious locks to prevent using it with other network providers. This is the reason I did not flash ROM, because I am afraid to get my phone bricked and lose it entirely. Recently I subscribed to a data plan from a third party provider and I have 4G in the status line and HSPA in the data type, but I still did not have internet connection when WiFi was disabled, except that my Hotmail somehow worked. No other apps requiring internet worked. I spent a week researching the issue myself as well as working with the provider's tech support, but nothing worked. Two days ago, almost out of despair, I installed a new app called Opera Max, which is developed to route the unencrypted data to their Virtual Private Network in order to compress it and save the data use. As soon as I connected to VPN, all applications started working. I still have to turn Opera Max off when I use WiFi, because it disconnects my WiFi every few minutes, claiming that WiFi signal is too low. (My signal is very strong and no other devices have any issues with WiFi). However, this is a minor problem, considering that Opera Max saved my data plan.
It is still a mystery to me why Hotmail worked, but no other apps and why using Opera Max VPN solved the problem. If anybody has ideas, I will be happy to hear.
I must say that all data settings, including APN are checked, rechecked and correct, so this was not the issue.
Thanks,
Dan
I am also having connection issues after rooting my S4 i9505:
I am on a Telcel (Mexico) which is supposed to support 4G connections... However, ever since I rooted I can only access 2G/GSM networks. I have the official APN network configuration and I have tried two roms but still no luck...
Any advice would be most welcome.

Call sprint
sent from nowhere
You could call her # and see how it answers. This # has been disconnected... or similar would be account/billing issue. If it just rings or goes to voicemail, then it's the phone, I guess. Try re-provision, or maybe go to settings, system updates and update PRL and Profile

Do you have the phone in your hand? If not, and this sounds especially silly, but have her check to make sure airplane mode is off.
Try texting and calling her from your phone.
As already suggested, have her update prl and profile (this will likely not work since you need some sort of functional network to update these)
Can she connect to wifi? If so, there are apps out there, such as "nag" that I would suggest installing and seeing what kind of network, if any at all, the phone is using. If she cannot, she may have a hardware failure.
Honestly, I'm just throwing things at the wall and hoping something sticks.

You could call her # and see how it answers. This # has been disconnected... or similar would be account/billing issue. If it just rings or goes to voicemail, then it's the phone, I guess. Try re-provision, or maybe go to settings, system updates and update PRL and Profile

Hello Everyone,
Happy new year.
I recently received a nexus 6p model H1511 from ebay. everything works normally except sending and receiving calls.
I live in Qatar btw and I'm struggling to fix this issue. Anyone knows how to solve it?
Texting in and out works perfectly.
LTE data is working smoothly.
Only issue is making and receiving calls.
Appreciate your help
Thanks
Mohamad

Sounds like someone switched your radioband. You might ask how do you know this. Well I was playing with my phone yesterday and did just that. I had data and was able to send SMS but unable to make calls. I was able to fix this by reflashing my phone to stock and using dialer code *#*#4636#*#* go to "phone information" click the 3 dots in upper right and select "radio bands". I used band 6 so you might want to try band 8. Hope that solves your problem. Also please anyone who reads this DO NOT mess with the band settings it will screw up your phone. I am not responsible for any damage to your phone if anyone tries this. This is just how I fixed my phone and offer it at a suggestion to get this gentleman's phone working again.

I forgot to mention I flashed back to 6.0.0 if your not on a custom ROM try the dialer coded without flashing and see if that fixes your problem.

Just ignore the Verizon stuff, as you're not on verizon
Really hope it isn't a EFS/IMEI issue... if it is, the guy sold you a lemon (most likely)... repairing that without a backup is near impossible.

I just found another thread here on page 2 and they have the same answer. I didn't see it yesterday when I screwed my phone up.
(can't find the thread) but someone in a similar boat said they did a factory reset, and then re-installed the bootloader and it fixed their issue.
but Id try to find that thread and knwo EXACTLY what you're doing before going down that path

I tried restoring the radio and bootloader it did not work for me
Well, let's hope for this guy's sake, the seller didnt screw up the EFS/IMEI, leaving him w a data only phone.

I really appreciate your efforts .. I did return to the stock rom .. the original 6.0.0 and it did not help. when i try to dial any USSD, it gives me MMI error .. i dunno if it is related to EFS/IMEI as u said. Plus dialing *#*#4636#*#* , i find only USA band, Band 6 & 7 only ..
a friend of mine bought the same model from amazon and he has the same band when dialing the above code, he also have the same bands ( USA, 6, 7 ) like me and his phone is working fine here ..
What do you suggest? it's an EFS/IMEI issue ?
Thanks a lot. I really appreciate your concern. the problem is I can't return it ...
Did you select a band? Of you don't click one of the options it will not change.

I did choose usa band and nothing .. i feel it is a problem with the carrier recognizing the phone
I'm starting to lean towards this being an EFS/IMEI issue.
Research is all I can offer at that point... exhaust everything beforehand, because EFS issues are nearly impossible to repair, unless you have a backup, which you dont.

I think I would try band 7 just in case. Does your network show up in the to left corner?

but the guy u shared me his link could solve it .. however he is ok verizon .. i believe it has something to do with my carrier ?
maybe the phone is not recognized right? but when i tell this to myself, i quickly come to a point if the carrier unable to recognize my IMEI right, would texts and LTE work ?
GSM is in service when i check phone information by *#*#4636#*#*
huawei technical support in Qatar would help if i gave them the fone ?

Try band 6 or 7 but I would lean towards band 7. I don't think your carrier name would show up if it were a bad EFS or IMEI.
SOLVED

Nailed it. Problem solved.
Installing Chroma ROM solved the issue because basically it was a problem of bands. Chroma had more bands that work in Qatar. and I could return back to stock rom again without any problems ( but don't mess up with bands in phone information )
I had to choose Aus band to make it work here in Qatar.
Band 6 and 7 and USA did not work for me. Chroma ROM had more bands that helped me to tangle this issue.
Thanks buddy @scoobysnack for helping me out.. I would solve it without your assist. I owe you a bag of marshmallow
No problem. It was my pleasure to help you. I told you installing chroma would fix your issues

Hi. Would you be able to walk me thru on installing Chroma? Same issue here. Calls work under 3G but if I choose preferred network type LTE(recommended), data and texts only work. Calls do not.Im from the Philippines btw.
I tried to access hidden test menu, radio bands available are only United States, Cellular 800, PCS and Class 10 (800Mhz Secondary)
Preferred Network type is LTE/CDMA/UMTS auto (PRL)
