My wife's brand new S5 just stopped connecting to the internet. Mobile data and wifi are on and were working with no problem the day before yesterday. But now they have seemed to stop working. She has done a soft reset and forgotten our home network. She tells me that she cannot download anything from txt messages, surf the internet or even play her game that requires access to the internet. She is already frustrated after having to change from a Iphone 4s, so this is not helping any. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do a factory reset. If after that the wifi and data still don't work, it might be time for a replacement. iPhones are defective too, just her luck that she gets the defective S5.

Ok. Is there a all encompassing backup for these phones, like itunes was for the iphone? Something computer based and not just cloud based?
Thank you Aooga.

Try Kies. You can get it from samsung's site, but nothing compares to the iPhone backup.

"connection times out..." i hit 'retry' several times, tried clearing data in applications, tried restarting phone. nothing. i can log in on my desktop. Whats the deal? Why is this phone so embarrasing to be seen with in public? thanks for any help
maybe it's not the phone, but the user?

Yeah, I get this every so often when moving between mobile cells. Sometimes cycling between 2G/3G in wireless settings reinitialises the session and gets me back on, otherwise it's a phone restart.

I had a Rhodium for about a week and now I'm using a sapphire and I hate to satire but I'd rather throw my old rhodium than the sapphire. Try a battery pull.

bummer, pulled battery but still getting:
"there was a network error while trying to sign in to **********. Retry now or press the Back button to cancel"
TMobile's sending another one under warranty anyway (for several other issues with this stupid phone), maybe that one will work.
I jumped on android's bandwagon by paying my way out of sprint and into TMobile when the g1 arrived and now Sprint and verizon are shelling out fantastic android devices and tmobile, who couldve and shouldve ran off with the android market long ago is sticking me with the already outdated MyTouch and Cliq and their big new announcement was the not-even-a-good-deal 'one price for unlimited usage' package. They better get their act together, very poor decisions on their part thus far. I feel like everyone's wearing reebok pumps and i have the generic payless shoe source version. I dont even like taking my lame-ass 192mb ram android device out in public, its embarrassing.
Is the mobile network access point set up correctly?
Can you browse the internet?
If yes, then the AP is set up correctly and the problem lies elsewhere.
I ask because, after I flashed a new ROM my AP wasn't set up, so i had to do it manually.
And no the mobile network AP is not the same as a Wireless AP.

interesting, yes the internet works fine
Hello all!
I just received my beautiful phone this morning, and even though it has been a little confusing to get everything going, I'm so far LOVING the experience. I have one question though:
can this phone work without a data plan?
I got it off ebay and although i paid a high amount for it, it is still T-Mobile locked. It was working just fine and dandy with just the wi-fi in my house and school (3g !!) but after I flashed co0kie ROM on it, nothing requiring data works anymore :/ Any insight would be appreciated. I was using something called "Web GoGo" or something which I can't find on this new ROM, so ?
The phone will work with out a data plan. You said you flashed a new rom, did you make sure to reset up your wifi profiles from your house and school? I've done that before you might just need to go into the com manager and make sure its connected to wifi. If its connected to wifi it should work.

It was connected to both WiFi networks and when I tried to get onto either Internet Explorer or Opera 10, they both showed that "Upsell" message that I needed to subscribe to a data plan :[
wow now I feel sostupid.your advice totally worked.all I had to do was reconnect to my wifi.thank you!

It happens, sometimes I forget that I recently flashed a new rom and didn't set up my wifi or bluetooth. Then I wonder why it doesn't work lol.

Well i just got my evo from bb, had to wait for an hour just to get the phone activated, the sprint servers were having a hard time handling the load, says the bb rep and there all sold out.
Now i can’t seem to log into the Google account, i even changed the pass to make things easy, still no luck. Anyone having similar problems

Can you get into your gmail through the browser? If so, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to sign into gmail for contacts syncing. Strange.
Ok you were right the data was not active originally I had to reboot, now it seems to be working but says lost network access I’ll try connecting with wifi

Did you try going to Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile Network? Uncheck and recheck that. Of course, I have read all day that the network has been quite overloaded... might have something to do with it, dunno.
Same issue here with a brand new EVO. I could browse the Internet just fine, even synched with my Exchange server.
However, could not sync with my Google account. Will update when I have a solution - I'm on the phone with Sprint now.
I tried searching this fourm, online, and no results after countless hours.
This is my problem. At work there is one big open network with a lot of extenders everywhere. When I got my new phone phone from BB when I broke my screen I tried to connect to it and it says " Connecting...." for a few seconds then automatically goes to "Saved".
I tried the obvious, forgetting network, rebooting phone, restoring to factory, updating firmware, nothing has worked so far. It always goes from connecting to saved. Every other device has worked flawlessly besides this phone
My last few phones have had no problem connecting. I do not have the authority to reboot the whole system, change frequently, add a pw, basically I'm only allowed to connect.
Wondering if anyone has experienced this problem, and might have any ideas or solutions. This is the only network that has ever gave me a problem.
Thanks for taking your time to read and help!

Funny thing... I just got a brand new galaxy note 3 and it does the same thing... Making me think something with this Wifi setup and the galaxy family phones are not getting along. I'll try and see if I can talk to the Web tech and see if he can tweet something to get it to work.

my once great phone is essentially a paper weight
Does the same WiFi network work on other devices? If yes, you might want to try to factory reset or if that doesn't work a fresh install via Odin!

Allright, that's too bad.. Have you tried other WiFi networks? If so, I can't think of any other reason but faulty hardware.

WiFi works on all other devices and s7 works on all other WiFi.
Bt provider have confirmed there is no issue on the line and set replacement modem hubs.
The issues is with the s7 and apps

Err weird. So the problem lies within some part of the phone that is unaffected when resetting or reflashing (odin)... No idea really, sorry. Hopefully someone else has a solution!
it even effects the samsung brower on certain pages, but not all.
it hates google apps and trying to load the google app store webpage.
and yes i have cleared cache on google apps and deleted my google account
