My experience with the device so far is good, i like it. Got it (black version) from Vodafone with contract.
I'm using it for about 3 weeks now and in my clumsiness already dropped it twice (I know ....), but no damage whatsoever. :victory:
It does look as though the frontglass lays/is glued a tiny little bit crooked in the frame, but it's not noticeable, only if you look veeery carefully.
Second thing i noticed, which is buggin' me a little bit, is the volume down button isn't as clicky as the volume up button.
Last thing, i have had the "sd card unexpectedly removed'' (sandisk 64 GB) error quite alot lately. Yesterday i have replaced it with the one i had in my Xperia tablet Z and so far so good.
So i guess it was the card itself giving problems and not the phone.
As seen in my signature i'm rocking RomAur with Doomkernel in combination with gravitybox and it works great.
I still mis my Nexus 5 though as it's stil the finest phone i ever owned / used, but i'm turning into a phonefreak so next stop will, i think, be the Oneplus One
EDIT: Oh yeah... i forgot. There was no dock in the box, only the noise canceling earbuds. That was very disappointing !!

The update was already there for me, but only through PC Companion. Might want to try that, or have you already ?
working fine!
It's working great! I got it at coolblue with a T-mobile 2gb contract for 31 Euros per month and the Z2 was €12 (Yes i know!!) the only minus for me is the storage, ive got a 64gb sd card, but i cant put apps on it....
I want to root it and flash a custom rom, what for rom (and kernel) do you advise?

It depends on your firmware. For now my choice goes to RomAur, which is based on .402.
But i'm anxiousy waiting for a stable and bugfree release of Carbon ROM (or maybe in the future SlimKat)
thanks!

Well, to be honest, i've never tried ART yet. But the N5 was still flying on Dalvik.
Had (stil have) SlimKat ROM on it with useally Franco kernel or Slim's own kernel.
Weird though that the Z2 doesn't support ART, weird choice Sony made there.

Still nothing,on both PC Companion and Update Center .
Maybe KPN needs more time for approval ?
I have an unbranded version, bought at the phonehouse, and still no update. Did they pull off the update because of issues?
I got mine at belcompany (Vodafone) one week ago and it seems i have the 402 update.

Yep, same here. Already have the update some time ago, but only through PC Companion (for me atleast).
Had to download it with the Companion and convert it to a FTF file with flashtool, because of unlocked bootloader.
Anyways, you guys are not the only ones ---> http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperi...A-0-402-start-rolling-out/td-p/690917/page/15

Hmmmmm has anyone loaded and tested ICS for UK three network ? i believe it was released today at 0600am and is available to download from samfirmware, however im unable to log in ?servers full .............
I would be gobsmacked if its the same as the first lpq release (buggy), which I am still using and has given me poor poor poor battery life 1.6 days of light use..... and yes i did a full wipe , ive never used titanium i always start as a completely new setup, rooted and removed bloat.
its crazy how all us peeps on here spend so much time researching upgrading flashing rooting customizing tweaking reinstalling deleting and for what .... because lets face it the bottom line is the galaxy s2 will never have great battery life because 1. its screen size and 2. its battery
All I want from samsung is a minimalistic stable rom with great battery life
I actually cant believe all the blurry videos i've took of my daughter growing up with the galaxy s2 and then ICS comes along and for the most part fixes it ..... its crazy how on earth was the phone first released with such poo video recording well at least its better now

Wait, 1.6 days is considered poor battery life now?
Some people need to wind their neck in and realise advancements in battery tech is slow due to engineers and innovators struggling with the laws of physics, so until we get mini fusion reactors in our smartphones we will have to consider 20-24 hours of normal use before it needs juice the norm. They don't have the luxury of the Ipads size (which is just basically a massive smartphone.) to whack in a massive battery.
Either that or just buy a Nokia 6310.....

LPQ has poor battery life compared to uk generic 2.3.4 ki4 official rom which gave me around 3 days light use with the exact same setup.
I know car batterys are different from phone batterys but the advanced technology is there for both ! it is just slowly trickled out in harmoney with other consumer giants to keep the economy and there bank balance happy. i.e the commercial technology groups said hdtv would be the highest resolution physically possible on a screen yet they have produced 4k tvs ! they have had the affordable technolgy released in the ipad 3 when they released the first ipad ....its all clever marketing slowly trickled out
here is a link to read about car batterys that will run the car without the need of fuel that last longer than the life of the car and that have been patented by the big oil corporations like texaco TO NOT BE COMMERCIALLY RELEASED

I got it running fine after a few issues with not being able to unzip it at first
It's noticeably smoother in general and some live wallpapers run with a better frame rate
Face unlocking works fine too
But God the 3 UK version is full of Bloatware so I may go back to my unbranded GB until they release a 4.0.3 version
I think Samsung are being lazy since this is XX but should be XW for the UK, anyway its a bag of sh1t and should never have been released on Kies, I guess the masses put them under pressure to release "something" and "something" we got.

So also have the sd card problem....wow
I wanna know the monkeys that work at samsung.
Just hoping for some user experience on stock kitkat vs custom .
Currently using Free Xperia 302 based on CM 10 JB 4.3, I cant find a single thing wrong with this rom. It's very fast and stable, GPS, camera and netflix working great!
Should I update, is the os as smooth as JB 4.3 cm build? I would imagine it would not because it is not ASOP. But is it that different in speed?
I personally don't see much of an advantage and you're probably getting great or better performance already. I guess some points come to mind:
Pros
-Small Apps will return with stock
-I like the Sony UI
-I don't know if you've installed a compatible IR blaster with your custom rom but if not you'll get that functionality back with stock.
Cons
-SD card permission problem (but I guess you'll still root)
-Apparently there is a battery drain issue with Google Play Services on 4.4 (and opting out of interest based ads in the settings is supposed to help)
Thanks, I'm not upgrading. Cheers!

Thanks for recommending this ROM: installed it last night and wow! Installed
omni-4.4.3-20140614-pollux_windy-NIGHTLY.zip
Its flawless! Games look better and game frame rates are higher I'm coming from CM 4.3.3
All hardware works; GPS, Camera, etc. Netflix too. I uninstalled DSP manager and replaced with Viper4android. So awesome!! KitKat 4.4.3; it is so buttery smooth and stable; no crashes of FC.I recommend everyone at least try this build; its money! I'm so glad I didn't upgrade to official Sony Kitkat ROM and that I saw you post. Definitely will be sending a donation tithes guys for doing such a good job. This will be my new rail driver.

Well, you see, this is just one of the BIG KK-Disadvantage.
So Upgrading to KitKat is a QuiteVERY BIG AND BAD DISASTER! A horribly bad mistake that many people (incl. my self) trap into!
If you install CameraMX for example, make videos and photo-recordings etc. then let's see what will happen, if you deinstall/uninstall it...!
Android 4.3.1/Lower: All Recordings will stay. Only the app itself is deleted. Even on the External Storage you'll keep them all.
But since 4.4.0, your recordings will all be erased forever.
Thank you Microsoft to introdûce MTP just for Zune Player. A good alternative to Mass-Storage. No access to File System=Inrecoverible!
And if your BootLoader is Locked, the „Factory_Data-Reset“ will WIPE, SAFE DELETE OFF ALL FILES so that the recoverage-chance would be absuloutelý dead!
But: If MTP would not be there, maybe GooGLE would have made something even worse!
Google has done every version very well. But since KitKat, theý, the Programmers and Android-Enginierrs did actually ruin it all!
Well done, Google! Good JOB!
Top 4 Worst KitKat-Versions:

Some another KitKat-Problems:
>WiFi not stamina (Only for 4.4.2)
>Battery-problems because of task „Android·OS“ - Only 4.4(.0) and 4.4.2!
>64% of all 4.4.2 users have battery-problems with Skýpe. Google recommends you to UN - INSTALL!!! ! ! - Have i got to give a comment about Googles recommendation??? ? ?-Well..., i don't think so. So what...?
>And many other problems. If you want to know more, then ask me.
If you haven't got a XDA-Forum Account but you want to know...
Well, then just NOT UPGRADE, if you don't want to take any risk!
>New Accent-Colour (betonungsfarbe) of the Status-Bar.
>WiFi and Network-Status ↑↓ is not shown up anymore „to avoid battery and useless CPU-Usage. “
AnD THE WORST:
More and More phones START WITH KshITKAT!
The first KK-Statrer was the Nexus 5. Well, it's a Google-Phone, so it's got the newer „better“ version!
And ALL S5 Variants too! (S5 +S5Mini+Active+Sport+all others.... like LTE-A)
All new HTC One, luckily not the MAX.
Sony Xperia: Z2 and Z2 Tablet, Z3, Z3 Compact and the Z3-Tablet·ComPact!
Galaxy Tab S, Note Pro, Tab 4.
And many others too.....
Did you think that you see all the others by pressing the button (eine Schaltfläche) you'll see all other ones? Probably yes...!
Best JB-Phone: Samsung Galaxcy Note 3 - Only Upgrade to the newwest BaseBand-Version of Jelly Bean! The Galaxy Note 3 is the World's best JellyBean-Phone
A Question:
What is actually the newest baseband-version with Jelly Bean on the Note 3?

We should be getting 5.0.2 this month or early next month, which should bring some worthwhile changes to the table.

For some phons, it's already there.
Sure, Nexus 5,6,9
HTC One M9
Galaxy S6
And Xperia Z4, whenever it comes out.
This is text from one pc/mobile portal in Croatia.
They never said anything what's not confirmed and checked...
I won't translating whole txt but will translate punchline...
..."Sony expected losts for a 2014 in amount of 470 mil $, now they changed their expectations and said they will end fiscal year with a total lost of 2,15 bil $..."
Why and which division failed?
..."as a mani reason for awful results they blamed Xperia mobile device department.
Now they have changed their strategy and will try to sell more if their higher level products..."
If Z3 is part of that plan I'm not sure they will succeed
After they start to care about customers and maintained their devices like they should we all reacted by buying new devices from Xperia lines...and what we got from them?
Current flagship on 4.4.2, lousy wifi drivers and EDIT camera?!
I really think this is Sonys last chance to shake their heads and think again...
Once they lose their fans it's gonna be impossible to get them back.
I know I feel like EDIT when I give 2000$ in one year for a two devices and can't get even decent software if not flagship for at least one year...
Original article:

This maybe the next step they will do it. Since it is clearly sony lacks software technicalities. Their hardware is top notch I really hope they should implement like apple software updates create a low, mid to premium range that has a uniform update just like ios style. But not loosing the buttery smooth user interface.

I guess they wanted fast money and to overflow the market with devices, they didn't think about software at all.
If they invested in software right at the start, it would have been very slow for them to make profit, since there's no direct profit from software..

True, but hardware is as important as software. They really need to optimized it. I'm impressed for their walkman, album and movie app after all their updates its really useful and beautiful but if they really want to impressed the consumers they have add more useful features. Improvement on daily and basic function can be improve from beautification of user interface without sacrificing fast and responsive app.
Sony is known for innovative of improved product they should start thinking like that.

sony has been floping here and there about the place, Z2 Sold alot
honnestly, sony should listen to the more technical customers, over "customers" because alot of these hardware technitions are pointing out almost all xperias not having head basins or pypes or anything to prevent heating, alot are pointint out bad motherboard design, and another thing Xperias aside Z2 have great firmware but everything that doesnt have 4.4.4 right now, is on a very slugish firmware, every single device, 4.1.2 and up
I can't agree to that statement that they don't have good software department...
They have great engineers, you'll see once when Z3 will be released.
And that's something that fans won't approve.
They added new camera features and it's obvious they could do that on Z2.
They added awesome feature called ultimate stamina, where your device kills all background proces, wif, mobile data and gps and leave your device with just basic functions - that way you can use your device for a 7-8 days without charging...
They add awesome new sound processing and many new features...
I know they can't add everything in one device and they have to leave at least one ace in their sleeve but this approach isn't good...
To update your device every six months just to get something two years old device could deal with it nonsense...not only nonsense...it's rude...
I could accept that approach if we are talking in low or even mid range of devices but guys...we are talking about device we paid 1000$!!!
Sony isn't doing very smart thing and that will cost them more then 2.xx bil $.
When I joined Xperia family I stayed here for a long time but when we realized it's enough and we, real fans, who are buying every piece of s**t they are selling, leave this sinking ship...they'll be in bigger problems.
Because once you realized HTC or Oneplus or anyone else is offering more for your money and more fair for your money you won't ever get back...

Having those Z3 features doesnt make Sony engineers great. I would call them great if they can optimize the software to match the customers expectations and not a buggy fw.
Obviously they have to think new features to make sure Z3 has the edge apart from other Z series. Its just they limit them selves and bake a mediocre fw.
Sent from my D6503 via Tapatalk Pro
I sent this to a range of sony emails
And im hoping they realise great Sw isnt great without good optimization or FW, Most cases as well HW.
Xperias arent bad, but there are these things that always puts customers off an Xperia
Although im going to continue buying xperias simply because of their great security and toughness i will constantly persist in trying to get my point across..
Revolution redux may be needed

Customers expectations?
That would actually be a miracle...to please everyone and to satisfy every user.
I can't agree to that part - buggy fw...
Yeah , there are some things to polish but perfect smartphone doesn't exist.
Don't know, I'm quite satisfied with Z2, I'm satisfied with Z1, that's why I kept it...
We could have better camera auto mod, yes but we have manual mod and if you know what are you doing you can get incredible results (check camera and similar threads)
Improvement is always welcomed and oftenly possible... And I'm sure Z2 will get better fw and nice updates...
We have six months old devices, take it easy...it'll be OK..

"every user", alot of user yes
Buggy fw, depends on how you use, it becomes unstable and messes up alot if you start modding or messing with it
Improvement is needed in some areas camera SW/FW may be needed comparing to other brands,
I am in agreement here
But this is my opinion/experiance

That's why I'm using eXistenZ v2 (soon, we'll have v3 with Ultimate Stamina) and it'll be even better.
It's not ROM marketing but I found v2 battery friendly and very, very good ROM with all features and apps I need daily.

Sounds good, ive stuck my self to a modifed stock rom simple because the mods i have realy force battery over performance and heating
Im tempted to go to cm11 and theme it like an xperia rom just because im tired of this slight slowness in response on the stock rom

Yeah...I hate that too...
Every friend of mine who took this device to see it, after he heard specifications couldn't believe his eyes when he saw hiccups on scrolling.
It's better on eXistenZ, still not perfect but it's better.
I'm on LB and don't want anything except stock based ROM.
Actually, I can't unlock bootloader but I bought this device on purpose, because I knew I don't want to use custom kernels...
Battery life isn't good on CM (at least for me) and I'm on stock/stoxk based ROMs since Xperia S and PAC ROM

It weirldy depends on device power, for some odd reason Xperia S causes gapps to drain battery but on Z2 it has alot less of that,
cm11 on Z2 is perfectly fine, its about same life on stock then on Cm11
Im concidering Stopping development On my rom for Z2 untill 4.4.4 comes, i cant add any huge mods without them just not working, ive only been able to add small patches to the framework and boot class
Xperia S was a wonderful device, the only problem being the Linux Base was outdated and had a issue, once i patched that the device flew like a rocket, i added the patch to Envi-Rom V3 and upcoming V5

Hmm..That's nice then.. ?
I sold my XS to one friend of mine.
He is still using it and he's perfectly satisfied with it.
It's way to slow and old for me, z2 is perfect device for me now but we just have to admit Sony should build that device, or at least, some of the lines of it, better...
Quality control failed totally this time and that shouldn't happen to company like Sony (mobile)...
If they learn from z2 case/experiance - that'll be enough for me.
I'm planning to buy z4 and I really hope differences between 10th and 15th week won't be same as can see on Z2...
See ya guys...

I actually bought my Xperia Play last year. I have the Verizon R800x variant and it's been a great device for gaming (that's all I use it for). I'm currently just running stock rooted 2.3.4 GB with CWM recovery because I've found that this setup gives me the best performance for gaming. I've tried a few different ROMS and tried Turbo, Lupus and Doom kernels, but keep coming back to stock GB because it seems to perform best for me.
Mine is VERIZON R800X, rooted, unlocked Bootloader
Had it since launch day and still using it as phone and gaming combo. Was just recently, yesterday, running Slmbean JB OC'ed at 1305 for a couple months. Started having some issues with battery drain and some other issues, so I fugured GB was the way to go. Currently running Gin2Blur 2.3.3 custom rom, rooted, OC at 1305. Plan to flash Adreno Booster.
Still have r800i. Not as main phone, but as time killer when needed (Lumia 630 is my main dial/sms/web browser phone)
Flashed to infinity and beyond with roms and kernels
Still alive, two flex cable and 3 batteries replaced
Beside, i still didn't win in Collin McRae 2 championatship in expert mode, Still have to check compatibility of FF7 in final fight, and FF8 is still on disk1. I'll check that when i finish Spyro3 all working nicely in PSXperia (fpse tends to lag on stock speed)
Fixed my screen a few weeks ago(R800i). Haven't used it in years

Do you have working touchpads, without the frame dip?
Still at it. Aftermathematics.
Just as obsessed with my PLAY as I was on that sweet night of June 2012.
Opened this legend 4 times for changes:
one for orange housing,
One for flex cable
One for earpiece replacement and digetiser( may fault, damaged cable when changing housing )
And one to make it white again. Obsessive, I know. But I've never been this close to any of my devices before. Still (not so) active on fourms, running gin2kitkat, and as game often as I can. Still a hell of a surprise to people when I slide out that sexy, sexy gamepad. ( just last week some dude asked me wtf is this amazballs thing. Thought it was a PSP go unroll he saw me calling someone)
Even in 2014, this Phoenix copes really well with newer apps, but not that well with newer triple A titles.
But emulators? OMFG. Works sooo guud. Goddamit I'm tearing up.
11/10 would buy again.

I still have this phone. For almost year I was using S4 Zoom and since December I returned to Xperia Play and I'm using it as my normal phone and console. I really love it and I don't see any possibility for changing a phone (I need phone with gamepad ). My play is from april 2011 (second Xperia Play in Poland - won in competition ). I so loved this phone. I'm working on best ICS ROM from Krisdee - but I'm looking for good JB ROM (KitKat and Lollipop still have so many bugs).

Had mine for 3 years since last month when touch screen stop working and I don't really know the problem :silly: , so it will be resting for a few months
After wanting one for years, I finally got one during Christmas last year, (Had a Lumia 610 before it, yay upgrade) so I can't see myself upgrading any time soon. Recently, I got another one to fiddle around with the experimental Lollipop roms. Flippin' the pad out on the train and watching people become confused is glorious. And the "I haven't seen a Sony Ericsson phone in years!" comments always crack me up.
Best phone I've ever had and probably will.
@TheVicious no friggin way. Thats amazing.

Hello LG G5 users , feel free to talk here about anything related to the LG G5 :good:
Thread Rules
1. Respect the others
2. This is an LG G5 thread , do not talk about any other LG phone here.
3. Use appropriate langage.
4. And of course , respect xda rules.
So what do you think about this LG phone ?
Hi guys , thread opened thanks to @KennyG123 , now that the G5 is out and available for sale feel free to share your experience in this discussion thread.
I will update it later with infos , reviews , battery tests..etc.
Enjoy
This is my first impression of the G5 and I'm sure once the stock and custom roms start rolling out I will have a much better experience with my phone. I picked up my new LG G5 a hour ago from my local Sprint retailer and I have already run into a few problems that kind of bother me about the phone. I switched from my Nexus 6 to this phone and I would have to say I do enjoy the feel of the phone and the fact of it being smaller and easier to hold. This is the only good thing I have really noticed about the phone so far though. The volume rocker on the left side of the phone seems very strange and would be much more ergonomic with it remaining on the back or on the right side to be easily accessible with the thumb. The G5 does not have an app drawer with the current software even though there were leaks saying that they were actually going to end up adding the app drawer for this phone. The software seems as if it went for a more Apple style design with a more vivid color scheme. I ended up looking through some of the apps and there are advertisements in the voicemail app which just seems wrong. I have already ran into a bug which should be expected with any new release of a phone of course and this bug happens when I double tap on a notification on the lock screen it locks the screen instead of opening the application which I really hope wasn't the intended purpose. So far the phone isn't as great as I expected it to be.
@CorruptProfile Thank you very much sir for this first well detailed feedback.
How about other things like the camera , performance ( if you tried any intensive game ) ? Is it buttery smooth or LG 5.0 UX suffer from lags ?

Look at 2:19
I only really play Clash of Clans as far as game intensive on my phone and it ran very smoothly for the little bit that I was on it. The camera is far superior to any phone I have had in the past and the quality is great. The option for the regular launcher with an app drawer does not exist on my device which is no problem since I do not like the launcher in general and the Google Now Launcher is far superior to LG's. The biggest problem I have started to see with the device now is the fact the battery is weak as can be. I'm not sure if there isn't enough data collected yet to give an accurate estimate on how long the battery will last. I took the first screenshot of the battery usage before I used any high usage applications and it already was showing that my phone would last an hour and 47 minutes when it was at 41%. I would add screenshots to this but, I don't have over 10 posts yet so that isn't possible so I sent them to @Soufiansky so he can post them instead.

How's the phone size?
I'd be coming from the Nexus 6 which is like a phablet, so I want to know how it feels in the hand?

I came from the Nexus 6 as well and honestly I like the size of the G5 it is smaller but not too small in the hand where it feels like you are holding nothing.

What about the module thing ? I saw a lot of issues about it these days

I don't own a module and I don't really see the purpose of owning one to be completely honest. It's basically just buying add-ons if you prefer having them or not. I enjoy having the naked look of a sleek looking phone without having a bunch of stuff all over it. It really comes down to the person if they want the parts or not and personally I don't the parts won't make the phone any worse and if the modules really just fail then it won't have any overall effect on the performance of the phone itself.

No i was talking about the stock battery module , you haven't faced any issue ? Because some people were reporting bad screen colors reproduction next to the module , others said it started taking off....etc.
