[Q] LG G2 Home apk - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. I installed the new G3 Home apk that I found somewhere here in xda. And I want to change it back to the old G2 Home. Do we have an APK for that? Im using the g2 international version.
Edit: sorry. Found it here. Please delete my post.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2670972

I simply restored my G2. The Multi_Home_G3 apk seems a bit buggy so I'm not going to use that. But thanks anyway.

Try what vPro97 suggested.

Installing the G3 home apk and theme will give you access to the G3 wallpapers but the icons won't change. Install both and use the multihome G3 theme for the icons and then you can change the G3 stock wallpaper, they're slightly different. I've been using all together for a week now and no issues at all.

Have you tried using large icons? When I changed that setting, Home suddenly stopped working.

The new home allows you to adjust to any size icon such as 1x1 up to 5x5 and you can use a jpg or png in your gallery... I get no force closes at all..

What I meant was in the App Drawer, you have the option of using small or large icons. When switching from small to large icons, that is the time you will experience the crash.

I'm guessing on your phone when you hit the menu key it doesn't show theme so go to settings/Home screen and it should be there.
Depends what you mean by theme. I am pretty sure the stock phone can really just change wallpaper and move icons around. With root access you can install the Xposed framework which allows much more customization which is probably what you want, and with custom launchers such as Nova or Apex you can also do wallpaper changes and run custom icon packs. But maybe the theme you saw was nothing more than some UCCW widgets, IDK since I haven't seen the one you are talking about.

The stock launcher on the G2 has a theme changer and comes with two themes that change icons, walls and the clock widget maybe more. So its basically good for changing icon packs and then just reset your wallpaper after you get the icons you like. Yes you can use Nova or whatever and customize icons to your hearts content but I prefer the LG launcher and I'm thrilled they added this.

Yea I love it, just wish it theme'd widgets but guess i will splurge on Beautiful Widgets/HD Widgets
(stock transparent clock-weather widget would be nice tho)
I'm on the at&t variant and I can't find the theme option anywhere either. I'm guessing they took it out. I can still change individual icons by holding the icon, tapping the purple brush that pops up, hitting Menu and selecting a theme I've installed from the previous thread and then they all show up for selection. This only works for individual icons though and will not help you change the app drawer button, which is the one I wanted to change.

Wow that sucks, makes no sense. I know carriers add bloat but didn't think they touch anything in a UI. This is the theme manager on the G2.

I've got nothing that says theme anywhere I assume it would be. Checked Home Settings and Menu on the Home Screen. Nothing. I'm really bummed about that. I wanted to change the app drawer button so badly. Damn.
Edit: going to try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447311
[MOD] LG Home [AT&T][Verizon][International]
Edit 2: Some things changed, like the blank screen text, but others didn't like the ability to theme. Weird. Maybe that isn't ready for the at&t version of that mod.

Pretty sure I found the apk, I'll provide a link in a few minutes. Let me know if I'm wrong about this so I can delete this.

Never done this before, its my Dropbox public folder I assume its shared. File is uploading slow should be about two more minutes if anyone is awake lol.
In this other thread a guy created a mod that does a bunch of things including giving you the themer, here is the link if you want to try that.

I don't think just flashing yours would work. It might but the guy needed all the files for the models he was building the mod for from the devices he was building for. I think it would need a little more than just swapping it.
And I tried that mod. No theme ability on the at&t version of the phone. Still.

I believe the international and Verizon version have the theme chooser, along with the Korean version. It allows you to switch to the Marshmellow stock theme, and others to come in the future. However, I think its apparent that the At&t version is missing this functionality. Would it be possible to add it back in an APK?

You'd probably have to wait for a dev to add it to their ROM
T-mobile version has it.
There's an internal application I found with system tuner called home chooser, don't think its enabled though. Anyone with another carrier version know if this is what were looking for?

You can't. In addition, if you change an icon and then delete it, you have to remake the icon.

You should be able to double-click the app drawer icon, choose Edit, select the the current icon and from there, you can choose any icon, picture or photo as the app icon's replacement.
Icons can be selected from themes, icon packages, your own pictures, etc. Google Play store is your friend as are the plethora of FAQs found by using the search function.
Is this your first Android phone? Regardless, you have a lot of reading before you.

Actually, I have never used a stock launcher, short of the original ADW Launcher.
I mindlessly change the launcher right after flashing a ROM and never considered it.
The very thought of it being a home launcher issue never crossed my mind.
Thanks for pointing out my oversight. :-\

I found a way to enable it on my ATT D800 earlier. First download launcher pro from the market. Then on the LG home add the widget call actions from launcher pro. Choose the Home action and then one of the sub-choices will be Home with something like hidden menu underneath it. choose that one and then click on the widget. From there check the theme engine box and exit the app. Then hitting the menu key from the home screen on LG Home will have themes. You can uninstall launcher pro after

Do you mean home > Add Activity > Home > com.lge.hiddenmenuactivity ? This doesn't work for me. It creates an icon and clicking on it shows "Failed to open whatever" and nothing happens.
Can you be more specific?
Also, can someone with a working Theme setting for the Home screen upload the LGHome.apk here? It's under /system/apps/

The instructions are from that thread. As you can see from the thread, many people from AT&T G2 aren't able to access that shortcut. Opening the shortcut gives an error, as I mentioned before. Are you on the stock AT&T rom?

Android L Launcher - Change Icons

hi, I installed the latest Android L preview and I like it a lot but the only thing I miss is my moonshine icon pack that I used on my kitkat build.
I looked around if there is any way to change icons on the stock launcher and I came across "Beautiful Icon Styler" and I found an old apk online but it does not seem to be compatible with the android l launcher.
does anyone know if it is possible to change the icons without changing the launcher? even if it is only home screen icons I guess it is still better than nothing
thanks
I dont know for exact but u can change pngs of ur stock icons. U can google it or wait till some one answer.
Wait for xposed to release an update for android L

yea I just figured out that one. However I think I might have found an easier way.
the app is called Icon Changer free and it basically creates a shortcut for the app on your homescreen with a custom icon. the icon doesn't change in the drawer but I guess it'll have to do for now
thanks
Beautiful Icon Styler
Here you go. Was looking for a app that allowed me to style the icons while using GEL (or pretty much any other launcher). This did the trick for me.

Just use this app called Unicon. You need root but it works.
