You can't. In addition, if you change an icon and then delete it, you have to remake the icon.

You should be able to double-click the app drawer icon, choose Edit, select the the current icon and from there, you can choose any icon, picture or photo as the app icon's replacement.
Icons can be selected from themes, icon packages, your own pictures, etc. Google Play store is your friend as are the plethora of FAQs found by using the search function.
Is this your first Android phone? Regardless, you have a lot of reading before you.

Actually, I have never used a stock launcher, short of the original ADW Launcher.
I mindlessly change the launcher right after flashing a ROM and never considered it.
The very thought of it being a home launcher issue never crossed my mind.
Thanks for pointing out my oversight. :-\

Is there any way to add icons to the icon gallery?

Besides just using a picture from photo gallery there's not much icon customization. The choices are apps already used and the alphabet.
I don't want to use nova because of the softkey transparency issue

Google app icons: go to image search. Download a million that you like into a folder: upload those photos to G+. use your G+ gallery to select images you want as icons and add them to custom... I prefer to pick and choose my icons anyways.
It really doesn't take any longer than browsing the internet for hours finding a theme you love, and then applying it.

[request] LGHome.apk that supports the theme manager stock

Unfortunately I missing support for themes. can someone share it? I tried some other files, but it does not work.

I found a way to enable it on my ATT D800 earlier. First download launcher pro from the market. Then on the LG home add the widget call actions from launcher pro. Choose the Home action and then one of the sub-choices will be Home with something like hidden menu underneath it. choose that one and then click on the widget. From there check the theme engine box and exit the app. Then hitting the menu key from the home screen on LG Home will have themes. You can uninstall launcher pro after

Do you mean home > Add Activity > Home > com.lge.hiddenmenuactivity ? This doesn't work for me. It creates an icon and clicking on it shows "Failed to open whatever" and nothing happens.
Can you be more specific?
Also, can someone with a working Theme setting for the Home screen upload the LGHome.apk here? It's under /system/apps/

Check this thread for instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2570987
Then once you have the widget, enable 'feature_use_theme'.

Thank you all. I solved the problem with "G2 Tweaksbox hidden Setting" by enabling the setting item: FEATURE USE THEME
I'm happy!

The instructions are from that thread. As you can see from the thread, many people from AT&T G2 aren't able to access that shortcut. Opening the shortcut gives an error, as I mentioned before. Are you on the stock AT&T rom?

Yep stock AT&T here. No problems whatsoever enabling the theme option using the posted instructions.

Themes and Color schemes

So I'm new to the stock look of this Galaxy, I ran HD ROM on my S4. I like the way the colors looked with the custom ROM. Is installing a theme a way to change the over all look and colors of the screens/menus? I know that launchers do a little with this but I like the stock launcher for now. Sorry I'm semi new to this but any help/pics of your device is VERY helpful.
Thanks!!

Idk if it's considered a theme but if you use Power saving mode you can turn on grey scale

I was wondering the same. I think all the colors are hideous. I am returning my One M8 to get the S5 because I like the size but I can't get over how stupid all the menus look on the S5.
Unfortunately, using the stock launcher (which I also always prefer) you're stuck with the hideous S5 menu. It's a cross between windows phone and a bland icon pack from MIUI. I am TRYING to upgrade my G2, but the M8 and S5 are just so bleh.

I AGREE!! And to be honest I wouldn't mind changing to a different launcher but I really don't like that my notifications do not work with any of the main stream launchers. Like when I get a text or new email the icon does not display this.
Does anyone know a launcher where icon notifications works??
Have you checked other post about this?
Are you familiar with nova launcher? If not, look it up in the app store.

I figured the S5 would work differently than other versions out there. I wanted the opinion of S5 users.

Are you asking if it will display the amount of unread messages in the notification bar? If so, the answer is unfortunately a no.

I think we are talking about the same thing, there is a messages Icon, and email icon. When I have tried other launchers on my GS5, when i receive either an email or text, normally they display a number on the actual icon on the desktop. With the custom launcher this did not happen, I can see the notification in the top bar that i have a text or email but the actual icon on the desktop does NOT display. My question was, is this the same as on Nova.
Guess I should just download and try........

You have to add Nova launcher notifier or something like that, I'm running nova and it shows how many missed emails and text messages I have. But its at the bottom of the nova download section

There's also a fantastic app in the Play Store called Missed It, which provides counter values for any app that provides notifications to the notification panel, integration with the unread counts option within Nova, and can provide counts within fully customizable widgets...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.igecelabs.android.MissedIt
It's a premium app, but well worth it (for me).

Android icon dock change

Hey peeps!
I was just wondering if their was a way to edit the icon dock, specifically add words under the icon? I like the stock icons in CM11 I was just wondering if their was a way to add words to accompany them? For instance underneath the messages icon have the word "messages" and so on and so forth.
Thanks guys and girls because I know their are lady geeks too lol

The text labels underneath home screen and dock are readily
available just by selecting a different launcher which has that feature.
Give "Next Launcher 3D Shell" a try, it has that option and more.
There are other launchers which have that feature too.
Good luck!

I simply restored my G2. The Multi_Home_G3 apk seems a bit buggy so I'm not going to use that. But thanks anyway.

Try what vPro97 suggested.
Installing the G3 home apk and theme will give you access to the G3 wallpapers but the icons won't change. Install both and use the multihome G3 theme for the icons and then you can change the G3 stock wallpaper, they're slightly different. I've been using all together for a week now and no issues at all.

Have you tried using large icons? When I changed that setting, Home suddenly stopped working.
The new home allows you to adjust to any size icon such as 1x1 up to 5x5 and you can use a jpg or png in your gallery... I get no force closes at all..

What I meant was in the App Drawer, you have the option of using small or large icons. When switching from small to large icons, that is the time you will experience the crash.
