Stock kernel vs Williams kernel v5 - Battery life comparison - Xperia SP General

Greetings for williams kernel developer
On stock i had 3h 45m on screen
On Williams using mpdecision, smartassv2 governor, 281mhz min frequency, 1,7 max frequency, sio governor, multi core power saving "on", GPU clock 400mhz and 25mV undervolting i done 6h 47m on screen on from 100% to 15%.
I am using exitenz rom and this updated app : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2401988
On 100% stamina says: 20 days on standby
My settings on screenshots
Awsome! I recommend this settings if you want great battery life with nice performance.

What's the ROM you use? Just stock or stock based custom?

I had similar experiences when my phone was new and on android 4.1. But now 4 hours screen of stock is max
. i think xperias sp from different production lines or times can be really different. For a lot of peoples 4.1 works better, 4.3 works far worst. For me 4.3 works better but battery life suck. :/
Maybe because my phone was swimming last time i have bad battery life x. X

Best battery life kernel on sense rom?

Hey guys, in your opinion what gives the best battery life on a sense ROM like Mikshift? BC's 1.5GHz, 1.8GHZ or X99, Scary Kernel, ect. Just curious what some of your experiences are..

I have been running mikshift since the beta along with bcnice20 oc uv 1.5 kernel with amazing battery life, if I forget my charger I don't even worry the standby time of that set up is just amazing ran for 24 hours on wifi with about 5 hours of using the net, tapatalk and about 75 texts and was at 50% at 24 hours of being unplugged its the only setup ill run, sometimes ill throw the 1.8 on there just to show everyone I can go that high but its never needed. I run at 1516 max 368 min conservative with a screen off profile for 806 max and 368 min no complaints here at all!! Its actually the only setup I'm willing to run!

Go with the x99 kernel without changing any settings. Just flash and leave it alone. Easy 2 days like that

[TWEAK][Siyah Kernel 4.1.1+][Extweaks] Get up to 7 hours of screen usage

WARNING: Use this settings at your own risk. I am not responsible for what will happen to your phone.
So, Siyah Kernel 4.1.4 has been released, and since 4.1.1 and its new features I have struggled for obtaining maximum battery life without loosing smoothness.
I tested these settings on 5 phones (Galaxy S2 GT-I9100): mine and my friends' ones, and we all got the same (more or less) results: it's awesome!
Screen usage can get up to 7 hours. I did these tests with mobile data on for all phone usage, and not in deep sleep. When I was at home I switched to Wi-fi.
My ROM is AOKP M6 (ICS 4.0.4), other tests were made on Resurrection remix JB, stock XWLPF (ics), CM9 stable (screen usage: about 6 hours, no more), and AOKP JB (latest).
Extweaks settings:
CPU:
GENTLE FAIR SLEEPERS: ON
CPU HOTPLUG: (default)
CFS TWEAKS: Linux kernel defaults
CPU IDLE MODE: AFTR+LPA
SMOOTH SCALING LEVEL: 800 mHz
MAX CPU LOCK: Dual core mode
CPU UNDERVOLTING: - 50mV (if you get freezes, set -25mV)
CPU STEP COUNT: 16 (all available)
GOVERNOR: pegasusq
MAX FREQ: 1200 MHz
MIN FREQ: 200 MHz
GPU:
MALI TOUCH BOOST LEVEL: Step 2/Step 3
GPU STEP 1: 44 MHz
GPU STEP 2: 66 MHz
GPU STEP 3: 100 MHz
GPU STEP 4: 200 MHz
GPU VOLTAGE LEVEL 1, 2 AND 3: 800 mV
GPU VOLTAGE LEVEL 4: 950 mV
THRESHOLDS: default values
AUDIO:
HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER: 0 (set this value as you want and as you ears can stand it, it doesn't affect battery life unless you listen to music)
SCREEN:
TOUCHMOVE SENSITIVITY: 3 pixel
ALL OTHER SETTINGS: default values
mDNIe negative toggle: off
BLN:
BLN: off
NOTIFICATION TIMEOUT: never timeout
BLN EFFECT: set what you want, cause BLN is disabled
LED TIMEOUT: use ROM defaults
LED FADEOUT: on
LEDS ON WITH TOUCH: off
LED VOLTAGE LEVEL: 2700 mV (2750/2800 mV if led lights are dim)
MISC:
ANDROID LOGGER: off
DEFAULT I/O SCHEDULER: cfq/noop
ALL OTHER SETTINGS: default values
I think they are not too aggressive values, but if you get freezes, I recommend you reset your extweaks settings via CWM recovery and then use less aggressive ones.
In the attached screenshots, battery stats analysis starts from 91% since I had to restart my phone, and when it was at 10% I plugged the USB cable in to transfer a .zip file in my SD card, but I don't think that this 15-second charge affected my test (I'm sure it didn't!).
Phone usage was high today, I used Tapatalk, created a new UCCW skin, did some long phone calls, Facebook, messaging, e-mail checking, and other stuff I don't remember since the battery stats don't even report them (lol).
Notice that this is an extreme test. 7 hours of screen usage is not a myth, reality instead, but you cannot get them with the so called 'everyday usage'.
Screenshots of test made on my usual phone usage will come soon

7 hrs screen time with 1200mhz max frequency and stock battery.. how much more if it's set on 800mhz.. 8-9 hours probably on stock batt?
you could have atleast included what you were doing in those 7 hours screen time like browsing, texting, facebook, etc, also the brightness of the screen, battery chart..

MagicConfig was my starting point for GPU voltage levels, how cannot I admit? I always used those frequency steps (first post) but I've never found the right voltages to avoid lags, especially when turning screen on. And I forgot to thank you. I say sorry mate

Try the GetRIL app, it should be able to find the RIL for you.
But if I understand correctly, KH3 is a Modem from the GB firmwares, and you're running and ICS Firmware, the RIL is part of the Firmware and I don't think you can install a GB RIL on ICS... but try the app.

Terrible battery drain on high CPU usage

Hello everyone, I have a problem, first of all I want to say that I disabled all synch, all google services , all wakelock works good. But I get around of 3 h. sreen usage a day( I think it's strange cuz many of n4 users get 5-6 h. of screen usage), on high CPU usage or in 3D games in 1 minute battery level may decrease around 10% , If I browse everuthing is allright, but all the games get my battery killed in a minutes. I have CM 10.1 and matrix kernel without GPU OC plus decreased volts on CPU, So my battery is bad or what? any help?
That is odd. I would suggest to flash stock kernel and stock 4.2.2 . See if that fixes the problem.
3 hours of screen time is average. 5 to 6 would be Highly unusual.

I've flashed 4.2.2 stock rom, now get lower score in antutu (around 17k) I tested rom that way: for 100% cpu and gpu load I played 2 h. in real racing 3 and 1 h. of benchmarks. So I have such a results, what you think is it normal or not?
forgot to say about 100% brightness
Odp: Terrible battery drain on high CPU usage
That's pretty strange. When I flash CM10.1 my antutu score was low. Also when I flash on CM10.1 faux kernel I got multiple crashes so I revert back to stock with enhanced faux kernel. Battery is average and about 17000 score in antutu on stock CPU settings. I think CM work correct with CM stock kernel. In my other phone SGR CM10.1 is super stable.

On CM 10.1 I get about 19k score with matrix kernel 21k result. But when I load cpu&gpu to 100% with games or navigation battery level may instantly decrease by 10%, u can see in 3rd sreen (1st post). Battery discharging schedule is not smooth, I've never seen before such a problem on other android phones. By the way, on stock temp. on full load was around 43 C. on CM 10.1 and matrix was around 49 C.
Also asking for help. Is the battery of Nexus 4 so bad? I am using the stock kernel. And i dropped 3% in half hour without doing anything.

One day on battery is pretty damn good
That is normal if you are on 100% brightness
I don't play games and have my brightness set at 25% for normal use and the phone lasts for 2 days at least...
Last night I went to sleep with 42% battery and woke up today with 38%
Not too shabby... but I just got the phone 3 days ago, so will see how it reacts after a few cycles...
I'm on XenonHD 6.0 with Faux kernel (it's the one they integrated in the ROM)
Hope that helps!

1.7 for me, undervolted to 850 mv for 1728 mhZ. No problems with stuttering, lags or random reboots. 3% battery drop for around 7 hours in deep sleep, all the time on LTE. GPU locked at max 384 mhZ too. Tweaked inteliactive governor, autosmp hotplug. Unfortunately, our 805 SOC is power hungry kekeke. But everything run so smooth.

kernel adiutor + stock kernel

Hey there,
Just to let you know that with bootloader unlocked + root (magisk) there is a nice set of tunable option with kernel adiutor. With a bit of entropy and governor tuning, you get even better performance from your a2. That's pretty cool ??
Can you share your settings? Hours of screen, performance... And kernel adiutor setup

disabled cpu boost to avoid cpu stuck at 2,2
Change governor to on demand
Entropy increase to get 40% free
Mostly it.
SOT depend on my use and vary between 4-5 hours to 6+ hours. This is mainly due to two factors:
-network coverage (this can suck your battery like nothing)
- use if BT + viperfx for hours ?
The best way to test it.. is to test it you may have the same increase as me (4 hours sit at most before mod)
