NeatROM 5.0/Ressurection ROM equivalent for S4 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I am coming from an S2 where I used a mixture of Resurrection and NeatROM 5.0 based on Kitkat 4.4.2.
I am looking for a similar ROM on my S4, one of the best features I liked was the App screens being smaller so much more Apps could fit on the screen, also the ability to fit more onto the screen, similar a Galaxy Note.
I am sorry I dont know what these actual features are called. I am assuming there are S4 ROMs which also have these features.
Can anyone recommend a good ROM or point in the right direction if someone has compared many ROMs with screenshots? That would be very handy.
Also I am on EE in the UK. My phone signal tends to be fairly weak in certain places. Could I upgrade to another radio which would improve the coverage? If so if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be most appreciated.
Thanks
MOD: Apologizes I think I have put this in the wrong section. if you could please move if this is the case... Sorry!

[Q] best de-bloated touchwiz rom?

hi folks, can't seem to find a better place for this than the general area - hope this is alright. i've been enjoying the CM 10.2 nightlies for some time, but find myself missing a few of my s4's touchwiz camera features, like the fast burst shooting. is there any ROM that combines these such things or am i asking for too much?
perhaps the real question should be, what is the best custom version of touchwiz that makes it feel the snappiest and most like aosp? i've come across GoldenEye, and MDOB... am I getting warmer?
It's your first post so I'd suggest you read the forum rules. "Best" threads are frowned upon. They're is no best, just what you like best. So try some. What works for me might not work for you.
Agree with jd and mod will probably close thread
That said try Goldeneye or Vision. Solid, error free, and have options thru Aroma to customize. You can also freeze bloatware still there in Titanium BackUp.
You'll have to read Rom OP to see if features you want are still there--

I mean, lets be careful with using phrases like "error free". All ROMs come with errors. With that said OP and before this thread is locked, what I swear by won't necessarily be up to your standard. Best bet, take each ROM for a spin a week at a time. I think with the quality devs here you'll find something that suits your needs. Happy flashing!!:good:
There really is no "best rom." I suggest you go look through the Development sections and look for the TW based ROM that best fits your needs.

what is the best echoe rom for a galaxy S4 I9505

Hi All
I really like the Echoe roms but was wondering which Rom is the best for your battery life?
thanks
Paul
Try it out for yourself. This question is not allowed here, because there is no best.

perhaps not the best question but in your experience or from others they might say this custom rom is good for battery life and the other aint

Then they don't know what they are talking about. There is no big difference between roms in battery life. There can be a difference, but that comes from how the user uses his phone and/or if it's an AOSP rom or the rom uses a different kernel with maybe some tweaks.
Every rom that claims that it has the best battery life, the fastest and the smootest is lying. They can never prove it and a good rom doesn't need those claims
1) Use the latest one unless you read something that would justify using an older echoe rom.
2) Do NOT ask for a 'best rom' on XDA, ever. This WILL be shut down.
3) What is the best? One with all TW features, the fastest, the slimmest, the longest battery, the most processing power, more gpu, less gup, more apps, less bloatware, more features? There is no such thing.
Do NOT ask for an ETA, do not ask for a best ROM. Read the XDA charter or watch the intro video (it's like 90 seconds long).
I'm not trying to have a go at you, but if you don't read the basic stuff here you perhaps should not be flashing ROMs on your phone. The best advice for rooting/installing/flashing is always read, read and read some more.

So i just got the g2 about a week ago, coming from an iphone and getting back into android. I was curious what the most stable rom was for the g2 and which ones were good in your opinions. Also i have looked a little into rooting it but there seems to be more steps than i temember with my droid x2. Could someone post the steps or link me to a thread that thoroughly describes it, all help is appreciated, thanks friends

If this thread is open long enough, every rom available will be suggested at least once. If there was a "best rom", there would only be one rom. Are you capable of understanding this fact? That's why threads like this are forbidden on xda.

I understand the flaw in the way i put the title, but i was asking about the most stable rom. Also i was asking people for their opinions of the rom, so yes i would get multiple rom suggestions. Yes i am capable of understanding the fact, thank you for the condescending reply on my first post here though i feel very ****ing welcomed
Personally for me I am using the Inverted Energy ROM with furnace kernel and I couldn't be happier. Sure its not a kitkat rom, but it runs smooth and reliably. If you have a d801 device check Energy ROM out.

For what it's worth, I'm using Paranoid Android on the VS980 and its pretty great. Very vanilla right now, but I like it that way.
Also, put your armor on because that's just XDA's schtick. You'll usually get ridiculed before you are given a kind hand and pointed the right direction. It's a great place to find resources, but it can also be a nightmare to locate the people who aren't riding around the forum with their noses up.

Inb4 elitist ****storm and lock
For the best stability a stock or LG Flex based rom is recommended
Also, by far the best kernel for this phone is Dorimanx' kernel (for stock and flex roms)
Recently, the developer of the most popular rom quit developing his rom further, but it's still the best in my book. If you want stability, simplicity and lightweight I'd definitely look at either Cloudyfa's Flex rom or just keeping it stock, rooting it, debloating it yourself and using some of the great Xposed modules that are available for the G2.
Thanks for the recent suggestions guys they've great. I have the g2 from Verizon so its the vs 980. Are the flex roms the ones that can be used on any of the models? I have just rooted my device so I'm looking into how to debloat. Ive usually preferred a rom over the stock. And as far as the different kernels go, im completely in the dark about them, I've never experimented with loading new ones on my phone. My game consist of just flashing the roms. With my droid x2 it had the removable sd card but with the g2 I'm a little confused on the route to take when flashing the rom itself
Just one advice.
use any stock ROM and avoid kitkat for now because they don't include native applications like quickremote.
I've tried many roms including kitkat roms and finally came back to a ROM based on stock firmware.
good luck.
We do not allow best ROM/Kernel threads on XDA. Depending on your use and your liking what is best for you may not be best for someone else and vice-versa. Head over to the development section try some out and see which "best" suits your needs.

Suggestion for the infamous "which rom is best" question

Hi everyone,
So XDA has made it clear that they dislike the question "Which is the best ROM" and will delete any posts based on this question.
I think we can have a thread that is more factual rather than opinionated. An actual comparison charts of some sort, with a long list of ROMs and which features they have or don't have being identified by checkboxes.
I know the general reply to the question is try them out yourself and pick what you like, but the idea here is not to say which is best, its just to provide as much information as possible so that we don't have to test each rom individually or go through threads and threads to find what we like.
I don't know exactly how this would be approached but if a this thread can become a sticky thread I think there will be a lot less questions on ROM features. Maybe the ROM developers can make submissions or whatever to the list with the features they have/don't have and new features can be added as they are made.
Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, feel free to move/delete this if inappropriate.
Thread closed,
While your idea is interesting it still falls under the rom comparison thread which is against forum rules.
The reason we do not allow these is, if you are a rom developer who has spent hours and days worth of work, putting a rom together, then somebody comes in and says this rom is better because it has X Y and Z, you can see how that developer would not take it too well.
The best thing to do is to simply read the OP's of the different roms in question and try it for yourself.
Best rom threads do not work in general because each user is different. If you give a rom to 3 people and say to use it, each person will get different results.
It does boil down to the fact the you need to decide what you want out of your phone and then try roms yourself to see which one is best for you.
Many thanks,
Ghost

[Q] New S4 what ROM would be closest to stock with tweaks and additions?

I have purchased a phone from a private individual that appears to be a brand spanking new Samsung Galaxy S4. What ROM would you recommend? Currently I am running M.O.A.R. ROM for my SG3 phone at this time. I really prefer not to have a slimmed down ROM but one that adds more control and features like MOAR but still has the stock appearance otherwise.
Flash them all and find out. Do your research. So you know Verizon Roms work on sprint. Just have to take a few extra steps.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
I am asking what is a ROM that has added features with nothing removed that is pretty much stock. In other words a stock ROM that has added battery tweaks, volume tweaks, wifi hotspot, in call recorder, and other additional features but without removing anything. I tried to do a search but unlike SG3 none really describe themselves like this. I had two choices in SG3 the People's ROM and M.O.A.R.
XDA is a development site not a support site. As such members are expected to do the research, read through the development threads and decide what is BEST for them. The only results that would be posted here are what each member has found to be BEST for them by experimentation based on their phone/usage/setup/apps/signal strength. Please take the time to read through those development threads to learn all about the software you are about to drastically alter your very expensive device with.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.
EFM
Have a great day!
