My work email is through Zimbra. All my filters for emails will work on any desktop version, even my iPad, but they filtering will not work on the email app on my phone or my Galaxy Tab 3. My Note is stock and I have done a complete factory wipe since I started having this problem. Any help would be welcomed. At my work the IT department double checked all my incoming settings and outgoing settings and all the the way they need to be. I get so many different emails from so many departments I miss my foldering for organization. Right now all my emails dump into my inbox. Ugh.
My problem with the Stock e-mail on my exchange account is that notifications are annoying. On the notification bar, they display 20 "new emails" that I've already opened on my phone. Anyone have any idea on how to fix it? Or have a good alternative?

Is there any reg hack, cab, tweak, etc that would allow me to better control new email notifications without installing a third party app? I already tried something called Mail Notify (or something like that) but thought it was overkill for what I was trying to do.
Here is why I ask.
I have my work email through push mail and my personal gmail account set up on my phone. I only want to be notified when I have mail in my gmail account and not my work email. I literally get hundreds of msgs and automated reports emailed to my work account day and night and as a result, the new mail icon is constantly appearing on the top bar. I acknolwedge the new msgs and within a minute or two the icon is back. This is very annoying, since I can't tell when I get a personal email to my gmail account by just looking at the top bar.
If there isn't a way to do what I'm looking for above, is there a way atleast to turn off that new mail icon permanently. I already went to the Notification settings and turned off everything under "Messaging: New e-mail message".
Thanks for looking.
BTW, I have a T-Mobile HD2 runing NRG's GTX themed ROM incase that matters.
Try this app, haven't used it but it might work for you:

Thanks for responding. I'm looking for a reg edit or hack moreso than for a 3rd party app. Problem with 3rd party apps is that the need to be configured and constantly running in the background to work.
Hi guys
I have a HD2 with the Stock ROM 1.66, all working fine until recently, where both my Gmail accounts are blank, every folder is empty, Send/Receive runs, Connecting > Logging on > looking for Changes > Updating Folders > Disconnecting.
No email is downloaded, Ive tried removing accounts and re-adding, checking the deletion and day threshold settings, and its still not download any at all.
The only thing ive done recently is installed SPB keyboard which ive removed, and the Excalibur Android Loader app, which is also now removed. I also changed a registry setting under HTC Album to ignore the .thumbnails folder, but nothing else.
Help!!
My Outlook sync probably works fine, but because i dont have a valid SSL cert on exchange yet, i cant test with that.
Thanks
Does your email account work fine via webmail?
works fine via webmail.
Okay ive found the problem after hours of investigation, the date was set to 2011 for some reason, so it was connecting and seeing no emails for that date!!!
Thanks

I'm having the same issue. It checks email and comes back with the current time as the refresh time, but doesn't show any new emails. I have found a trick that if I go into the settings for that mail account and just click through them without changing anything, it will receive the current mail. Unfortunately I have to do that every time I want mail from that IMAP email. The unfortunate side effect is that it also resets default settings for emial size and frequency.
Where was the date field that you are talking about above?
I just went to my phone's date/time setting and it was set to automatic from server. I toggled it to manual and back to automatic. Now it's receiving emails again. That may have fixed it. I'm a little skeptical as I have done little things here and there which will may it update and retrieve email once, but it never seems to work on its own without my tinkering with it. We'll see. If it is still working tomorrow, I'll report back here to let everyone know.
So I tried it again this morning and it isn't working again. So that wasn't it. Also, one correction to my last post ... my IMAP isn't empty it just won't receive new mail. I hit refresh and the sync symbol spins and then shows the current time as if refreshed but no new email pop in. It also does this so fast that it cannot possibly be logging in and checking before it returns with no mail. Still frustrated. Let me know if anyone figures this out.
PS - as additional info, I own my own domain and email hosting through Rackspace. Since my wife has the same setup (Domain and sakes rackspace account) I added her email to my phone and it works fine (tried over several days). So now I'm really baffled.
Solved! Android 2.2 stopped receiving emails (T-Mobile)
Solved! Android 2.2 stopped receiving emails (T-Mobile)
Ok, I have spent countless hours researching and troubleshooting this and I think I have the solution. Apparently, Android's native email software has difficulty with certain things, "Flagged" emails being one of them. I.E. those emails you flag different colors to follow up on later.
I have tried everything I could find on the issue and this seems to be what worked for me.
Background (Just in case this helps you):
Phone: T-Mobile HTC HD2 running Android 2.2 NAND
Issue: Email worked fine on multiple accounts for over a year on this phone, then one day one of my personal IMAP account stopped receiving emails. Gmail and my Exchange accounts still worked fine. However, my IMAP account would say it is "Syncing/Refreshing Messages" and come back with the current time stamp, but would not pull in any of the new messages. My only work around until now was to run through the email account setup for Incoming mail server, Outgoing (SMTP) mail server, etc. Then it would work, but only once. If I wanted my new mail again, I would have to repeat that process. About a day or so before I began having issues, I had flagged several emails for future follow-up. I read a post that mentioned that in passing so I tried it. I went into Outlook and unfledged all the emails I had flagged.
Solution: Un-flag all emails in your INBOX. Then wait 4-12 hours.
NOTE! At first it didn't work, but after a few hours I started getting my emails and have been getting everything fine since (last 48hours). I guess it takes time to propagate in the system or something.
I hope this helps!
Hi
I've moved over from Winmo and I really like sgs but recently I've started having issuses with my emails. To cut a long story short, I had a problem with my handset which Vodafone kindly replaced with froyo 2.2 (previous handset had 2.1) and since then I've had problems with receiving email messages. The sgs is configured to connect to my work Exchange 2007 server and is set to check automatically (push) for new emails. I can go for about a day without receiving anything but yet my mailbox has new emails! I've tried different networks - I brought the phone unlocked, restarting, ending task ....... list goes on!
any ideas what I should do? I do sometimes see the error "connection error" in yellow at the top of the email app screen but it then disappears and start refreshing, again sometimes this does the trick and other times nothing happens.
please help!

If is set to check is set to check and that means that your server is not PUSHING email and on top of that your server doesn't allow SGS to check.
I have a Winmo phone configured as I can't rely on the SGS and that works 100% configured the same way!
I've also tried removing the account and re-creating which hasn't helped.
Could it be the phone itself? only 2 things have changed since it last worked, the hardware and the system software. We have other users using Android and its working fine for them
confused!
The stock samsung email is [email protected] Try K9 email from the market or try deleting your email accounts from the samsung app and use the 'Social Hub' app (also a stock Galaxy app made by Samsung) to add an exchange account as a 'push' type and see if that works.
How do I add the Exchange account to the Social Hub? Just try it now and all I see is my SMS messages but no option to Add an account, the menu button does nothing.
I will try K9 in the meantime
thanks
K9 have removed the Android version from their download site! any other ideas?

thanks mate but I'm sure our Exchange 2010 server doesn't support webdav. A note aside I think I know why the stock email client is not working correctly. What I have noticed is that when it does try and check for emails at the scheduled times, if for any reason it can't connect it stops and then doesn't re-try at the next interval, when I do a manual refresh I see all the "connection Error" messages popup at the top of the screen and once they have dissappeared, only then does it start receiving messages again.
any ideas?
I have my Shift synced up with my work's Exchange server via the Mail app. For the most part everything works fine as I'm able to receive and send emails without much issue. However, when I try and access an email that has already been opened, I frequently find that a particular email is no longer showing up on my phone. My phone is set up to sync the past 14 days of emails and a fair amount of emails that were received well within that window sometimes won't show up. For instance, 13 of the 32 emails I received on July 5th (the last of the 14-day window) aren't on my phone but are accessible through my Outlook software of through OWA.
I tried searching online elsewhere and it seems this particular problem only affects HTC phones. Has anyone else experienced this or even better, has anyone found a solution?
I was having an issue with the HTC mail app not deleting messages from hotmail so they would keep coming back as new notifications to my phone which is apparently a known issue in the gingerbread release. To fix it I installed the stock android email app and didn't have any issues after that. Unfortunately, if you use a mail widget it will not work with any other mail app.
I used the Email.apk from the original post on the link below here and disabled notifications for the sense email app so I wouldn't get two for each email(I also may have deleted the stock email after awhile I don't remember):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1082379
My phone is rooted and at the time I was running the mikshifted g executive rom. I have no idea if you can install this .apk on a non-rooted device if you aren't rooted but you could try. You just download it and install it like any non-market app.
Hi guys,
i've updated to KitKat from 4.3 on my Nexus and now i am not receiving new email sound notifications unless i open the app and mark all messages as read. This is my work account (exchange) and the issue is really annoying because my daily email flow is about 100 messages. Most require my attention right away and i have to turn the phone on and off every few minutes to see if new message is there.
i've tried re-adding the account, changed notification sound, updated to 4.4.1 and then to 4.4.2 but the issue is still there.
any suggestions?
device is complete stock.

I'm having the same issue here. Did not notice the issue on 4.4 or 4.4.1 but as soon as I updated to stock 4.4.2 the issue showed up. Sometimes the unread email will be there if I open the app but no notification sound or icon. I'm also getting delayed push emails randomly. It seems to work fine for an hour or two then no emails will show up unless I manually pull and I'll get a flood and e-mails will come in normally for a while.

i am still getting emails pushed, but no notification sounds...
any ideas how to fix this???
I tried wiping my device and flashing the factory image, issues remain.
Something I have noticed is that the second I open the Email application, the messages show up in the list .. of course no notifications.. Another behavior is that when the sync is configured with "Push" it is supposed to be realtime, and before KitKat, it was that way.. I'd get an alert on my phone the next second I received an email.. However, that also seems to be screwed up as well. I was hoping this 4.4.1 or 4.4.2 would resolve the issue but it didn't.
So I contacted google about this yesterday and the first few emails went nowhere. Then they transferred me to a 'specialist', here is their response:
Hello Brian,
Thank you for your response. Not being able to sync your emails through exchange is frustrating. I would be more than happy to assist you in syncing with the Exchange server. Unfortunately, at this time in order to sync with the Exchange server you need to access a third party app through 'Google Play'. In the future there may be updates to the Android OS that may allow for syncing with the Exchange server. Currently, Kitkat is unable to facilitate syncing with the Exchange server.
If you have any further questions, concerns or downloading a third party app does not resolve the issue please feel free to reply to this email or contact us at support.google.com.
Best Regards,
Valerie

WOW!
Will they pay for that third party application for us???
I remember how everybody was bashing Apple when their update broke exchange sync. But they fixed it quite fast.
Never thought i will see that approach from Google...
Very sad
anybody was able to fix the issue?
anyone?
still have this annoying issue!

Same here.. I really need a fix for this, I keep missing important messages
I think Google tweaked the email client to turn off notifications unless you open the app. If you get the first email, it will make a sound. If you don't open the app and check it, it will stop notifying you of further emails. I'm really not sure what the solution will be to this issue..
This is on my Nexus 5, but I have the same email client that the N4 does.
you can change that in settings :

That's a Gmail setting, we're referring to the native email app that handles Exchange accounts
For me not
It always works for me
try using the application of your email provider(f.e. if you have a microsoft account use outlook.com app). that is what i do and i don't have any problem anymore. if you like to have all your different accounts in one application i would suggest to find another application. droid mail and k9 mail are quite good as far as i know

It makes an audible beep every time you get a new email in the "Email" app even if you don't open the app every time? Are you on 4.4.2?

I use it for my Exchange account for work email, there's no other email provider client. I'll see if I can get droid mail or K9, but they're relatively expensive options for just this 1 issue.
