Hi there,
I have done a reasonable amount of reading around the forum to try and figure out if i can sort my phone out, but want to make sure i have tried everything i can!
Basically my phone crashed a couple of days ago, and i ended up removing the battery to get it to respond and switch back on. Only now it stays on the first white T-Mobile screen that appears. I know i can do a hard rest on the phone to bring it back to it's factory default state, but i have sooo many contacts and other info on the phone that i really need to retrieve before clearing it.
Is it possible at all to get these back, or am i stuck with a Hard reset and losing everything?
Any info that could help me would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Am afraid its looking like a hard reset dude, but i would DEFINATLY recommend getting a free exchange accoutn with somebody like mail2web or even DeniaLs own service on here.....your contacts are just a sync away even after a hard reset or ROM flash so you dont need to back them up every time you reset or flash.
Not sure if this is a battery related issue as I removed the cover and battery to put another SIM in to find out it's no. Since putting the battery and cover back on I get the splash screen for the ROM I'm running (Diamond), then the HTC annimation then it reboots. It will also only get that far when the power is connected - otherwise it won't even start to switch on.
Any ideas? Also is there a way to reflash as I don't want to send it back to the provider with a non-standard ROM.
Any help much appreciated.
A bit more information - if I leave the charger plugged in it just loops round and round with the splash screen and the HTC animation.
Maybe this will help..

I had this on my first polaris it did it on the 1st day so i returned it and got a new one... Couldn't hard reset either...
Try going to the bootloader manually and flashing a new rom following the instructions that are repeated over and over in these forums
Thanks for responses - it's working fine again now. I think one of the battery contacts may be faulty as it wouldn't run without the charger until I pressed them in and then re-inserted the battery.
Want either hard reset or go into boothloader
Hello, my polaris has stopped responding when I touch the screen, it is locked and the only thing that is working is reset, and after reset the screen is locked. It do`nt respond on hard reset or wìll not go into boot loader. On service they say there is now garanti(I understand) because I use a rom from XDA. Is there any way to get it into boothloader or hardreset, exept from the usual ways? or do I simply have to throw the hole thing?
I can reciew phone calls.
Hi all,
I was messing with wmwifirouter on my touch hd and it hung for some reason and i had to soft reset my device. i pressed the power button and switched it off when the confirmation dialog came up. however, when i turned it back on, it would go past the smart mobility screen and the fone gets stuck in the htc screen. the windows mobile screen doesnt show up and it just would go past the htc screen. the charger respords well and wen i wait for sometime and when i press the power button for sometime, it gave me the confirmation dialog sound. but there was nothin but the htc logo on the screen. maybe something is going on behind the screen, but when connected to usb it wudnt detect on active sync. and wen i pressed the reset button under the battery cover, it was stuck at the htc logo screen before it showed some msg asking to press send button to restore factory default settings cause the device wasnt shut down properly or an untrusted app was installed (this is basically wat it said, not word to word.)
so can anyone help me? there is some texts i really badly need to back up.. anything other than a hard reset? please help. thanx in advance.
If you can't get past bootloader screen looks like your only options is to flash rom or hard reset
yeah i just hard resetted and everythings back to normal.. its a pity, i just lost around 4000 txts from my gal..

:/ thats a big loss.
Ive been backing up all my contacts, text messages from summer 2006 htc wizard till today with jeyo mobile companion.
Keeping xls files in AES, RAR encrypted files for safety
Have lost maybe 50 messages at max in that time because of some vista failures and Touch Diamond got stolen in Bulgaria.
So I recently called VZW to get a replacement phone for my Droid 2 due to the fact that it kept auto resizing things by it's own. The new phone I received via Fed Ex booted fine and I installed my backups and everything. Thing is, my GF accidentally dropped the phone on the ground (facepalm...) and after that the phone no longer boots properly. No physical damage as far as I can tell, no scratches or anything. When I turn the phone on the LED backlight turns on and a thing white line (Think 1 pixel by 1 pixel straight line horizontal across screen) flickers on and off.
I called VZW and they will be sending me ANOTHER replacement phone.
My thing is, since I can not boot into it to wipe and restore to factory settings, I don't know what will happen when I send the phone back with the root and what not.
Any tips?

Can you boot to bootloader?
I ended up having to send my phone in with root on it, nothing happened. Got the text on the new phone saying "Thank you for returning your device!" and nothing happened after that.

Every once in a while it will flash the bootloader really quick but it flickers the white line again so I guess not.

Hello! Today suddenly the screen on my HTC Legend stopped working. More exactly it went black, with just a few pixels in different colors and some random striped... I've tried to remove the battery, plug it into my computer, remove the memory card, remove the sim-card etc.etc. nothing seems to bring it back to life... when i press the power button i can sense the phone vibrating and responding to touches on the screen. Seems the phone itself is working fine and that the screen is just broken in some way. Could it be possible that this has something to do with that the phone is rooted and flashed with different ROMs like thousands of times?
I'm considering returning it to the store, since I still have one year warranty left but I'm afraid I won't get a new one if they discover it is rooted
Anyone who's got any good ideas what to do to make the screen work again? Is it possible to factory reset it from the computer?
If you have s-off its easy peasy, otherwise you could downgrade using the goldcard method. In my experience HTC still repair even if it is rooted as they dotn really check, just plug it into there computers then reflash
