Hi all, I have galaxy note 2 and I have flashed AOKP Rom a couple of weeks ago. I bought the Samsung 64 GB MicroSD Pro Class 10 Memory Card which has 70 read speed, 20 MB/s write speed but the music lags on any and every music app. In every 5 or so seconds, music stops for a split second and then resumes. I can't seem to figure out what the issue is.
Is the music lagging when you put the songs on internal storage?
Or maybe you can try to format the sd card.
Its because the kernel problem of some roms at pegasusq based go to the kernel settings and change cpu baseline ondemand or something else that not pegasusq

This seems about right. However, I've been through nearly all available governors on my current kernel with little improvement.
Raising the minimum cpu frequency to about 400 has helped but it's not an ideal solution.

maybe you have a lot of app that running in background or wakelock ? I have great at ondeman min cpu freq 200 and usin spotify.
I had this issue in both official and dn3 and tried raising min frequency to 400 mhz also 600 mhz still it does exist..
I didn't find this issue in OmniRom at all, and before that I had Samsung Touchwiz which also ran very smoothly, the lag is quite irritating during music. I have minimum amount of background apps (antivirus, facebook, gmail) as of now, still no improvement.

Windows 7 allowed me to format the card in exFat format, I have tried that, I also tried fomatting the card via the phone itself, it still didn't get rid of the lag.

Nope.
It's cpu related and when I used to use ondemand with my old 4.1.2 rom this was never a problem. Unfortunately the 4.2.2 kernel I'm on only has silly governors that cause more problems than they solve and ondemand is no longer an option for me.

Thanks for the tips guys, I am using CPU Tuner now, I have kept the minimum frequency to 200 and music is playing nicely. I guess the default frequency was set even lower than that. Which would explain the unreal increase in the battery life that I was experiencing since I installed this rom on the phone.

I am using CM7 ROM and Glitch kernel together on the Verizon Fascinate and was just wondering what everyone is using for the I/O Scheduler and the CPU Governor with Voltage control.
I have mine OC'd to 1.5GHz and using bfq and performance.

Im running v13 from paid glitch app, smartass v2 with deadline and underclocked to 800mhz and get 5 hours of ACTUAL PHONE USE/SCREEN ON TIME and about a full day before needing a re-charge on an 1800ma samaung battery and the phone still flys. zero lag! You really dont need to run any more than 1 ghz, but 1.2ghz will give you crazy speed and still allow for some good batterylife. 1.5 is overkill.

smartass is best in my opinion. It seems to run lower clocks more often when high clock is not needed.. I don't have smartass v2 for some reason

Using noop/smartass the last day or so...seems to be running smooth.
Smartass never seems to go below 400mhz on my phone. I've been using OnDemand.
I haven't really noticed any performance difference with any of the IO schedulers. Probably because it's flash and not a disk based drive in the phones.

I do have it a little overkill, but I enjoy the speed when using some apps like games. My battery does last a whole day however with the 1800ma battery life, but then again all I use my phone for during the day is texting or VNC. I'm gonna try the smartass V2 and Deadline. Thanks!
I do quite a bit of gaming on my device (9mm, Dungeon Defenders, etc...). Overclock is set at 1.4 no UV, with absolutely no lock ups. BFQ and smartass yield the highest fps for me on V13RC.

Performance would be a bad idea over long periods of time. Essentially since it runs the phone at the highest possible frequency for 100% of the time, it stresses the CPU much more than any other option. This could cause overheating if used for too long, not to mention the toll on your battery. We all assume that it would decrease the life of your processor because it logically could, but that isn't a big deal sienc you'll likely be upgrading long before the processor would begin to fail regardless of what you do with it now.

Interesting, when I set BFQ and Smartass on mine I get force closes on the simple apps, for instance the internet browser or file viewer. But when I play games on it I dont get any force closes on the games.
Maybe try clearing data on voltage control & reflashing kernel. I have been running my current configuration on MIUI, CM7, and now Pool Party for the last 90 days or so with no issues.

Assuming you mean "safe" then yes over short periods of time it's fine. If you tried to run at a high clock on performance all the time you would probably get heat and battery life problems.
I'm running miui and glitch v12 and I find it very strange that my phone runs really good (almost as good as any combination that I tested) on conservative governor.

Thats not strange at all really. I've had it last multiple days with data and everything off, conservative, and underclocled to 800mhz when I needed to be away from a charger for a while.

Now that we have a new way to overclock in v14 there are near unlimited variables to overclocking with this kernel. I've found a good balance of performance with 1300ghz step and live OC value of 121%. Let us know what has worked for you. You may include voltages as well.
I'm using reborn90's settings
200-1000; 110% live oc arm volt; 800/950/1100/1175 int volt; 1000/1000/1000/1025
Seems rather steady, I also recommend turning save on boot in settings of nstools before applying these settings just in case xD

I am on 100-1300 with 116% Live OC, haven't played with voltage yet but everything runs great.
I can't seem to get any live OC percentage stable and anything around 118% + automatically freezes and reboots.any suggestions?

For the most part I just use stock voltages when playing around with live OC because I haven't found any voltages in threads that i'm sure are stable.

it depends on how far you phone can go, some can oc more then others but some less then others, I usually never go passed 1.2ghz ,I'd rather save battery.

Just my opinion, but since Android 4.0 relies so heavily on the hardware rendering capabilities of the phone you'd be better off to UNDERCLOCK the CPU to 800mHz, and apply the Live OC to say 125% and have an effective CPU speed of 1000mHz while increasing the GPU clock by the same amount. I've tried it and it works very well but I didn't stick with it long enough to see how it affected battery life. You will need to modify your voltages though. I was at 1250mV on the 800mHz step.

So how much of a change have you noticed from Stock kernel to Glitch. I tried OCing once.. and it froze.. and phone died.. and ended up having to wipe / re-flash. Probably user error though

I noticed I'm able to achieve higher stable oc (over 1500) using low leakage voltage and live oc of 116 or less. Without low leakage i can barely acheive 1400 oc at anything over 110 live oc. Never noticed this much difference in internal voltage stability in previous kernel version. I wonder what's changed?

Can my GPU burn or something like that?Or high GPU frequency will cause only reboot?
I've read that the max recommended GPU speed is 484.Going much higher the battery will drain too much and will get hot. If you set the speed to high it will become unstable and usually reboot. It will reboot and rest default speeds long before it will have time to melt. Just don't use your over clock settings to be set on boot

1. easiest way, use the trinity kernel toolbox and adjust the gpu slider up or down.
2. or manually go to /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/gpu_oc/ with a root file explorer(like root explorer) and manually edit the variable and save it.
yes, it can get very hot if overclocking the gpu. especially when playing cpu intensive games. worst thing is youll reboot if things go haywire.
Excessive voltage and heat can easily fry a CPU/GPU and other motherboard components, so be careful.

It's normal. I haven't over or underclocked or overclocked my phone and when playing highly intensive graphiv games, it heats up. If you have a case on it, that could contribute.

Having a case on heats the phone up? I haven't rooted or played any intensive games on my phone. I do have a case and I am noticing the phone heats up quite a bit when you charge your phone or if your 3G connection is ON for long. I think that's the reason my SD Card got busted, due to excessive heating. Can anyone confirm the phone heating up coz of a case?

If it isn't turning off then you are fine. A quad core cpu with a gpu on board will get warm in the designated area, especially given the fact there is no ventilation.
Your cpu set to 1.8ghz and voltage?
You can test decrease voltage by 0.25mv to reduce heat and better battery life.
For me actually 1.8ghz = 1250mv

Ive been getting smoother results underclocking the G2 at either 1.7 or 1.9 and knock on seems more quick to response, but when I tried video recording the 60 fps isn't smooth when you are clocked at the regular speed.. beware...I ran a benchmark on quadrant standard and got 17,250 constantly so it is underclocked per core... I want to hear your opinion on this and do you plan to underclock or already are. I feel like the ability to be more smooth within the UI helps a lot more now..let me know your thoughts!

No i got a higher benchmark than the guy who replied on my post. I did get a smoother UI and everything is less laggy. Ill post a pic of 2.3ghz idk if its actually at 1.7ghz or 2.3ghz ill do another test

I am using the app called No-frills CPU Control and for 1.7ghz I am using row and Ondemand as the I/O governor and same settings for the regular clock as well..

I am tending to believe that the regular clock speed is actually overclocked...just like how the galaxy s4 is overclocked 200mhz more than normal...however I could be wrong..
If you really want to see if this odd issue is actually happening download an app called Multicore CPU Control (the only app of its kind that seems to work with the LG G2). I use this to save battery by turning off all but one core, but it allows you full control over all your cores.
Download it, create a profile, and set each core to what you want. I had to save the profile first, then go back in to edit the latter 3 cores' frequencies.
I would suggest setting the min and max to the same and choosing Performance for the governor. Use a different app to set the scheduler.
Be sure to have something like Kernel Tuner to ensure that all your cores are running as you intended. If not, go back into Multicore CPU Control and re-save your profile again.
Would love to hear the results afterwards!
I used Multicore CPU Control.
The only way to set clock to CPU 1,2,3 is let them always active. If I leave dynamic for these cores, they still go up to 2,26 GHZ. I think this the reason why HeXaLox have a little decrement when underclock because it only did for one core.
