http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2190847
Read the topic in the development forum and encountered a problem.
I put rutfs.img in internal memory (data/media/0/linux), flashed the kernel, but when I load xubuntu tablet is not included, and reboots and goes into the android, wi-fi does not work. What is wrong?
I have a TF300TG with chromix JB 5.4 with stock moded kernel 10.6.1.27.5, i flashed kernel rabbit 2.2.9 and used a xubuntu 13.04.
P.S. In development forum I can not write because few reports

[Q] Modaco kernel download / help installing latest Modaco ROM

Hi there.
I am looking for an alternate server to download the latest Modaco kernel from. The downloads provided in the original thread are on a server that I am told does not support resume and the download tends to cut out between 10-20%.
Original thread I'm referring to:
Samsung Galaxy Tab / Galaxy Tab Android Development / [KERNEL] 26/Jan r3: MoDaCo Custom Kernel for the Samsung Galaxy Tab
Due to lack of post count I was unable to ask for one in that particular thread :/
Assistance is much appreciated.
Bump? Still having the same issue, and run into errors when trying to update to the Modaco custom rom, so I wanted to try flash to this kernel first.
My bootloader is not locked, and I have tried to apply the update via CWM but no luck, so I really want to try this kernel. Anyone?
This kernel should be flashed using ODIN. It is later when it get it installed along with CWM your will be able do updating via CWM.
Yes, but i cannot flash to this kernel when i cannot properly download it from the above mentioned thread.
Just keep trying. I had to type those stupid quotes like twenty times until I got the complete download.
You might find this helpful http://Droid-den.com/phone-guides/p...co-rom-and-kernel-on-samsung-galaxy-tab-guide
You can get a copy from here http://bit.ly/myroms
My server 99.99% uptime
I'll b loading more roms soon

(READ BEFORE TRYING)Some answers to questions

Ok people a slight helpful guide here, may have already been created but its here regardless
This will also be posted in Q&A under answers just to help people out
So in the Q&A forum i have seen a lot of the same question, my X10 is stuck at boot, which yeah happens but it seems to be for the same reason due to kernel or mod damage so what can you do?
i will also answer from experience on other questions
No1. READ the requirements...
These are the requirements for the ROM i use (DiXperia7 Avenger from DikeJ), (They generally follow same lines but dont suspect they do.)
OS - Android 2.3 or 2.1 (from upgrade from 2.1 to 2.3 wipe will be needed)
Permissions - Root Access, Busy Box, Xrecovery (Kernels for Stock roms not CM series)
Optional - Unlocked bootloader running DoomKernel v6 or above. Seeing as this seems to be final edition from the great doomlord we shal settle there.
So as you can see some simple requirements laid out nicely, bootloops and boot freezes can normally relate to Kernels installed, if theres a problem it wont install or freeze anyways but normally a ROM freeze is picked up before its released.
On locked bootloaders you wont have this problem as long as the ROM supports this. The dev will normally tell you what you need if not ask.
No2. ASK!
of course i am trying to help less skilled people, like me, avoid bootloops and crashes. so always as on the dev forum and wait for a reply, chances are its been tested but if your unsure dont do it until you know 100% and a dev or someone with experience has tested personally.
No3. Make sure your using the correct recovery.
It works like this.
Stock ROM - Xrecovery (DoomKernel ThKernel)
Cyanogenmod series - Clockwork Recovery mod (In FXP Kernels)
MIUI Series - Can be both but seems mainly Clockwork
championswimmer has done a custom version of both CWM and Stock - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1564056 credits go to champ.
So enough about Kernels and blah blah xD lets move onto Wifi Troubles
Wifi runs using the Kernel, Unlocked bootloaders need a patch to run Wifi unless its FXP based.
These files are generally found with the kernel on the forums. Known as wifi modules.
You can flash these patches before 1st boot but its not recommended. needs to be reinstalled every time you flash a rom as there wiped out..
(Please make sure the wifi patch is correct to the kernel as a wrong one will not fix wifi errors)
Random Reboots while phone is on.
Ok i dont know highly on this subject but i do remember reading a little about them..
Random reboots can be caused due to hardware failure, normally motherboard crashes, just restart the phone by removing battery normally works.
Another factor of this is a mod that has been installed. If the mod is not designed for your phone it will normally cause a bootloop at kernel but if it gets pasted this could be a cause of your problems.
SuperUser detection not working :S?
I had this problem, SU was stopping my root programs getting there access, but sometimes the app isnt at fault, its your actual root, simply rerooting fixes this .
Ok people i hope this helps just to help new users out on problems, although as always i wont be held responsible for any damages.
Thanks to..
DoomLord - DoomKernel Series
Champ - Kcernal series
ThJap - ThKernel Series
FXP - for the CMW recovery and there kernels

[Q] CM9 on GGL ROM

Hi,
I am one of those who has ended up with a Defy with green lens. I am not a dev but I stumbled upon this if someone has not already done so.
I have been playing around with MIUI, CM7, GGL and wanted to try CM9 ICS. I followed an already closed thread by adi4motion on this forum, started with stock Froyo but all the time ended up stuck at Moto logo on reboot. While reading the thread to make sure I have not missed out anything but following that thread did not lead me anywhere either on stock Froyo or GB downloaded via thread link but the only thing that got into my mind was GB was flashed after CM9.
So I flashed the latest CM9 Nightly 120617 zip dated 2012-Jun-17 on GGL ROM Android 2.3.6 from this forum and gapps 4.0.3. It has been successful with camera, opera, gps working well. So far no FC. Seems stable so far 2 days of checking various things. While installing Opera wifi needs to be on else installation fails. I do not know where to upload screen shots taken by holding power button.(that works too).
I seek expert opinions.
Your thread Title: Misleading
Your Question: Unknown
Your Thread location: wrong
Please ask the moderator to move it in Q&A thread and be appropriate on ur question. We will definately help u.
Questions go in the Q&A section
brajesh was right that I was not clear in my question. I was looking for changelog for CM9 for defy. I could not really locate one. All I could find was from the now closed thread that specifies a specific GB kernel or a Froyo CM7 kernel and a buggy HWA with Opera not working etc.
My question was supposed to have been whether any GB kernel is good enough for CM9 ICS flash for defy.
I found that flashing CM9 zip over GGL ROM without any kernel update worked OK for Opera to work fine. A buggy HWA was pointed at for Opera not working. As mentioned in that thread Camera Panorama does not work. I did not even expect the defy to bootup full going by the closed thread.
Sorry I did not click the option if mine was a question. I would appreciate if some one could point a thread where I can learn about HWA testing as I do not have enough net time per week basis. Thanks in advance.

[Q] ROMs - Selection and Other Questions

Hi Guys,
I've got a stock A500 and due to the conflicting reports as to whether Acer will provide an OTA update to Jellybean, I've decided to flash a custom ROM as there as some minor quirks that are starting to bug me.
Anyway, I've found the thread to explain what to do - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205204 - but it's left me with a couple of questions.
Selection of ROM
I can see at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1136 there are links to various threads relating to custom ROMs such as CM10 Jellybean, AOKP Jellybean and CM10 Jellytime etc.
1) These have other topics scattered throughout so I was wondering if there's a page that summarises the various JB ROMs out there with a link to their topic page?
2) Without knowing each of the developers, how does one choose which ROM to use? Is there such a thing as a "vanilla/Plain-Jane" JB ROM?
3) Each of these topics have the first post outlining the ROM with a link to the zip file. Does the author update this link in the 1st post if there's update to the ROM or do you need to read through all the posts to see if the author has an updated link?
4) Once you've installed a custom ROM, how do you know if there's updates? Does the Update in Settings work or do you need to manually come back to the topic and see if the zip file is updated?
ROM/Kernel
At http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205204 it says that you need
external SD card, root rights, unlocked bootloader (if you're on stock ICS), custom recovery and a custom ROM of your choice.
Click to collapse
Yet further down it talks about Custom ROMs and Custom Kernels.
1) What are the differences?
2) What does a Kernel do?
3) Do I need this or just the ROM?
Thanks
PS - Not sure if this topic is better suited to be in http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1136, but since it's a question, the rules say that it should go in the Q&A section.

Is there a ROM that works for Tilapia (N7 3G 2012)?
Thanks!
Hey monfro i made an xda account because your work sped up my nexus 7 greatly. I want to say thank you! When i first got my nexus 7 it was really fast, and i rooted it and tried some roms but the stock android was always smoothest. 2 years later now this tablet is really slow, although gaming is still good, internet and scrolling was getting frustrating. I was running 4.4.4 it was laggy then i went to 5.0.2 it was unusable. I looked up how to make it run faster and found out about the f2 filesystem and gave it a try.
I couldnt get it working until i used the info in your thread and rastas rom, tried a couple f2fs roms that i couldnt get working but this thread made it easy. Had it for a few days now and it Runs great now. Im typing this because when it booted today it ran faster than i ever seen it. Was a little confuzing trying to convert the filesystem as some of the info about the custom recovery was outdated on xda, i already had a recovery that supported f2fs and didnt know it. I messed a lot of things up and bricked my tablet after messing around trying to intall a bunch of older custom recoveries and different roms.
Luckily with wuzfresh toolkit i was able to unbrick and reinstall and re root and install newest twrp, once i did that i just converted all filesystems and flashed the rom and supersu and g apps. G apps wouldnt flash on your stock rom as filesize was too large already and i couldnt root it for some reason but rastas worked. Glad i got it here because rastas only hosting his lollypop roms. i dont want any lollipop roms on this device lollypop sucks right now, and is unusable on the 2012n7. Got the rom from your thread this tablets running real smooth now.
Only problem is there is a lot of ads on xda for mobile not sure why but im getting popups and captcha left and right. Im posting from the tablet, gonna stay using xda on my computer from now on. But thanks for your contribution im gonna lock this tablet at 4.4.4 f2fs. Great to have people like you helping all the nexus 7 owners, this is still a decent tablet and a great sized tablet
Wich is the procedure to follow to install this rom and format nexus 7 on F2FS? Is that filesystem really faster? Thanks
