[Q] Modaco kernel download / help installing latest Modaco ROM - Galaxy Tab General

Hi there.
I am looking for an alternate server to download the latest Modaco kernel from. The downloads provided in the original thread are on a server that I am told does not support resume and the download tends to cut out between 10-20%.
Original thread I'm referring to:
Samsung Galaxy Tab / Galaxy Tab Android Development / [KERNEL] 26/Jan r3: MoDaCo Custom Kernel for the Samsung Galaxy Tab
Due to lack of post count I was unable to ask for one in that particular thread :/
Assistance is much appreciated.

Bump? Still having the same issue, and run into errors when trying to update to the Modaco custom rom, so I wanted to try flash to this kernel first.
My bootloader is not locked, and I have tried to apply the update via CWM but no luck, so I really want to try this kernel. Anyone?

This kernel should be flashed using ODIN. It is later when it get it installed along with CWM your will be able do updating via CWM.

Yes, but i cannot flash to this kernel when i cannot properly download it from the above mentioned thread.

Just keep trying. I had to type those stupid quotes like twenty times until I got the complete download.

You might find this helpful http://Droid-den.com/phone-guides/p...co-rom-and-kernel-on-samsung-galaxy-tab-guide

You can get a copy from here http://bit.ly/myroms
My server 99.99% uptime
I'll b loading more roms soon

[Q] ROMs - Selection and Other Questions

Hi Guys,
I've got a stock A500 and due to the conflicting reports as to whether Acer will provide an OTA update to Jellybean, I've decided to flash a custom ROM as there as some minor quirks that are starting to bug me.
Anyway, I've found the thread to explain what to do - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205204 - but it's left me with a couple of questions.
Selection of ROM
I can see at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1136 there are links to various threads relating to custom ROMs such as CM10 Jellybean, AOKP Jellybean and CM10 Jellytime etc.
1) These have other topics scattered throughout so I was wondering if there's a page that summarises the various JB ROMs out there with a link to their topic page?
2) Without knowing each of the developers, how does one choose which ROM to use? Is there such a thing as a "vanilla/Plain-Jane" JB ROM?
3) Each of these topics have the first post outlining the ROM with a link to the zip file. Does the author update this link in the 1st post if there's update to the ROM or do you need to read through all the posts to see if the author has an updated link?
4) Once you've installed a custom ROM, how do you know if there's updates? Does the Update in Settings work or do you need to manually come back to the topic and see if the zip file is updated?
ROM/Kernel
At http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205204 it says that you need
external SD card, root rights, unlocked bootloader (if you're on stock ICS), custom recovery and a custom ROM of your choice.

Yet further down it talks about Custom ROMs and Custom Kernels.
1) What are the differences?
2) What does a Kernel do?
3) Do I need this or just the ROM?
Thanks
PS - Not sure if this topic is better suited to be in http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1136, but since it's a question, the rules say that it should go in the Q&A section.

All instructions will be on the first post of the room thread
Please read it fully as instructions will vary depending on rom
Read the rom threads and find what will work best for you - a stock based rom cm7 or cm11 depending on features required - read the features and bugs list fully
Before starting I would update your stock rom baseband as yours is old and may cause bootloops if using cm11
You can update your stock rom baseband by flashing stock rom firmware or just the modem file via odin - links to my firmware thread are in my signature below
Also please next time post questions in the question and answer section - I will get this thread moved there
Edit - thread moved to q & a

Wireless charging
Using your stock lollipop rom and can't get it to charge. I have a wireless charger on my desk that I have been using for months with out problem on other roms. I've read that their is a lollipop issue with wireless charging but my other N4 (aosp lollipop) and N5 (stock lollipop) don't have this problem. I flash roms all the time and can usually figure out a solution on my own, but can't seem to figure this one out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hello guys.
I came across a weird issue with this ROM.
I flashed it, wiped everything (including internal storage), and I can not access my data, can't download anything, basically whatever uses the internal-sd won't work.
Could anyone please give me a possible suggestion?
Thank you in advance

Tried to install stock .zips "can't open" (bad) and no operating system or USB access
Hi
I was trying to go back to stock kitkat 4.4 so I could upgrade to lollipop. I followed the instructions from the youtube video here (/watch?v=sq7MzTac) which was embedded in an xda discussion here (/nexus-4/help/qa-flashable-stock-rom-radio-t2930920) and downloaded relevant .zips for radio, boot loader, rom and kernel from that discussion.
However, after wiping my old data and then going to install the zips, the radio and rom do not install. I get an error e:\ can't open.... (bad) installation aborted and so I am left without an OS and can't even seem to access the phone by USB on my mac. It just keeps starting up and staying on a screen showing the google logo.
Is there any solution to this?
hey just to confirm, did try to do a thread search but didnt come up with any results.
does the music app stutter when phone is in lockscreen/ screen off mode on this rom/ kernel?
thanks in advance
Hi I'm new to this, so sorry for a probably stupid question
In the video the dude says I have to flash the bootloader, but I don't see the link to download the bootloader in the OP. Should I just go ahead and follow the video?

Flash stock rom via odin - see my firmware thread - link in my signature for my threads then it's under firmware section & select correct firmware thread for your device although I only have b5510
I would suggest getting the correct firmware from sammobile.com as I don't know if the b5512 is just a regional variant or uses different firmware
Remember you can't flash other devices roms - you have to correctly port them
step-by-step install

what about step-by-step guide, how install this ROM? I try much methods, but still I have boot loops.

Flash in recovery after rom flash. Don't screw it up !
NOTE- for lanscape i recommend setting dpi to 160
I will update my source soon. it is located here

I enjoy calling this my caf-maybe kernel xD
Rotation fixed, i am working this kernel source to see if i can get kexec hardboot functionality working
Please do not ask me questions about overclocking.
This is a temporary offering for @sub77 's LP build for the sm-t330nu milletwifiue

AND MY BOY MULTITASKING PROJECTS NOW. LOL. Is sub77 having the same issue as I am? I get stuck at the samsung launch screen right before my boot animation appears. (If I flash ROM then Kernal) simultaneously through twrp recovery. ---- :\ ----- if I just try to flash the CM 12.1 Unofficial, gives me a soft brick. Trying to look at threads on the issue. It states "cannot find update binary in cm12 file" during some Cm12.1 ROM flash attempts

Kernel v4
Hey Moon,
Does the 4th version enable over clocking the tablet? In kernel editor I have the option to push the CPU upwards of 1593MHz and the GPU to 533MHz. ! BTW, any new projects? I've been following you and sub77 on this Rom\Kernel but seems like it is getting quiet. I've been fooling around in the system files to see if I can find a fix for this camera. I got rid of Two files in /system/etc/permissions. And had to edit two that I found which were corrupt compared the the other camera files I've been comparing them to. I'm slowly but sure on to something. Let me know if u want to port a Sweet ROM, or Tweak a kernel out, etc. I'm ready!
Thadd.
T,
hi, if you succeed in solving the camera issue, please do a complete detailed write-up on the fix.
For all versions of kernel 2-4 i applied amyren's OC/UV changes , and set ondemand/cfq as default.
I run that kernel in my cm11 build [personal, not release] and it does well, camera up. the break is on the rom side somewhere. [cm12]
i am currently working the LL kernel realease for the sm-t530nu. The kernel for the sm-t330nu [mine] is done.
The source is posted here, https://github.com/moonbutt74/kernel-milletwifi-choad-warrior-rv01
you are absolutely welcome to and encouraged to take it foward, being a bit of a dumb-dumb that's as far as i could get it. :silly:
