[Q] I can't find a good .md5 for rooting - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm just trying to root my note 3.
The steps seem easy, I have odin, I can put my phone into bootloader mode, but every .md5 I try Fails in odin.
The "root" tab on this website is aged and doesn't specify Verizon Kitkat SM-N900V
so obviously everything I tried there failed.
does anyone have an md5 for this I can use?

Awesome, this looks like a step in the right direction but it seems that I have to create the custom firmware, but it has to be done with a Linux terminal.
"How to use Universal Root de la Vega:
Open a terminal to the directory containing URDLV.sh (not windows command prompt)"
I don't have linux, and I may be missing something but I don't see a way to do this with windows. Any ideas?

Alright.. well, I ran that md5 through Odin and it failed. I got this:

And I guess it corrupted my firmware or something because my phone wouldn't boot after that. Had this "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please use Software Repair Assistant & try again."
Thankfully in my adventures of trying to root this damn thing, I've encountered this before and have a stock md5 to recover the phone when this happens.

Root device? Safe?

Hi!
I have had this phone for a while now and thinking about rooting it so i can use droidwall and OC the phone. How is the easiest wat and is it safe?
Isak
i used z4root and no side-effect so far..
Ok, but if something goes wrong is it anyway to recover all data on the phone and just start up again?
i would say its always wise to do a backup before trying anything potentially dangerous..
u may read the other topic about recovery mode in this board for this..
Ok, gör det innan jag försöker roota
good luck and have fun..
worked perfect Thanks!
@Isakk1, can you please guide me how you rooted your u8800 using z4root?I got problem with the driver (huawei hsusb device)
hoping for your immediate response.tnx

do it in your own risk and make sure your understand what rooting is before rooting
get z4root, install it, run it, select "permanent root", wait until it reboots, done.
I need the driver dude..i keep searching on google but it's hard to find the exact file in this device.

USB driver for windows? do you see the auto mounted CD drive after plugging in? the drivers are there
Why need of drivers?
Assuming you are trying to copy z4root on your device... SD-card should mount itself when you plug usb in, just choose to mount from your phone notification are.
Moved to general.
I think this is what you're trying to do:
1. Open device manager, you will see this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Then right click on the HSUSB Device choose update driver then browse my computer manually. Then browse to this:
It will then install the driver and it should show this in device manager now:
Also worthwhile would be starting cmd and running adb devices to make sure the phone is listed.
thankz a lot guys..very appreciated
i rooted my phone . but i feel it's not good idea when i use 1 week. the phone always have some issues when use, so i flash back.
Can someone upload the drivers and share the link coz I can't find the drivers on the mounted drive (it's empty) after I installed the B160 based ROM.
Drivers attached to this post
Thanks alot!
I used z4root from Applanet.net
installed easily and rooted no probs as well.

[Q] Need Unlocking Help -Rooting with a Mac/Online Codes Not Working

Yes, I searched. I have a GS2 Locked to Virgin Mobile in Canada.
First off, I have a mac, so the whole rooting/unlocking thing seems to be impossible as ODIN and the other programs are all .exe's.
I tried buying a code online and they said they couldn't unlock it and most others sites don't like the phone as compatible.
What are my options here?
Thanks all.
Borrow a real computer.
to root use this to flash the correct kernel from here
to unlock
I have used Heimdall and it works
I'm struggling here. heimdall doesn't read .tar. I extract the tar and I just get an zimage and nothing more.
It seemed simpler on Odin, but I'm lost on this.
Take tar or the zimage and put it in the kernel slot and hit flash, it's less picky about the file type.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
I appreciate the help, but it's not that simple. It says firmware.xml is missing when I put it under the load package tab under firmware.
When I put it under the flash tab, it says not a valid PIT type. These are the only two places I can select a file.

could you verify that you have managed to flash with latest version of Heimdall? i have tried everything with beta2, 1.3 and it simply refused to work. i just used a pc to update to latest version, and i have no files to flash to test (it's been one day and if something happens i have to reintsall everything again), so if you could verify this, or teach me a trick or two to get it to work, it will be much appreciated
FWIW, I loaded 1.1 and it was not compatible. 1.2 looked the same as 1.3 for me.
SGS2 has only been supported from version 1.2 onwards, maybe try the newest 1.3 that's just been released.
I have never used it apart from on windows, it looks like you may need to give it a pit before it will do anything.
You should be able to find it in an official rom, when I get home in 4-5 hours ill have a look at it.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
The screen looks like the ones I posted on 1.3.
Then you will need a pit from a stock rom, might try reading the faq
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
HOWTO: flashing via Heimdall Suite 1.3.0
1) put your phone into download mode
2) connect to pc
3) load Heimdall GUI
4) click Utility tab
5) click detect device (if it detected goto 6, if not install drivers which should come with Heimdall)
6) click save as under "download pit", save it somewhere easy to find with a name like SGS2 (no need to add .pit)
7) hit download
8) phone will reboot, put back into download mode
9) click "flash" tab
10) click "browse" near the top and select your pit you saved earlier
11) on the righthand side there is a window saying "Partitions(files)" click "add" below it
12) select "kernel" on the lefthand side below "partition details"
13) click Browse below "partition details", select the kernel you want
It should now look like the attached pic
If it does, hit Start, and it should flash
i think problem with mac is still there :
although i have yet to try flash a ROM or parts of it, to see if it could successfully flash it.
EDIT: nope, it does not work , still the same error
Same issue here.
6) click save as under "download pit", save it somewhere easy to find with a name like SGS2 (no need to add .pit)

What I am selecting here? It asks you to DL something.
8) phone will reboot, put back into download mode

Phone just gets attached error - nothing further.

Sooo What am I doing wrong?

I've downloaded 4 different roms and when I try to flash them I get this

I've been rooting and stuff for a few years but I usually did it on my windows PC and not my MBP, anyone care to point me into the direction of what I can do to fix this? I`m thinking it has something to do with CWM.

Had same problems I had been dragging and dropping folder locations into command line. Was told duplicates folder root permissions. Also realized was using wrong CWM. Some peoples external websites are posting faults CWM's. I don't think they really own a nexus 4. Well good luck!

Found it you need 6.0.2.3 img not 6.0.3.0! Good luck!
Is there a way to me to revert back to the original recovery mode? I set it to use CWM as default when I first did the root or something like that.

Need to use adb debugging push correct image over current image. Would do all tasks from unlocking boot loader to root device again make sure no duplicate permissions. Search forums for adb commands for nexus 4.

are you sure the file you downloaded is for the nexus 4 (mako)
because if you go to this---> http://get.cm/?device=mako
non of those files are named just cm-10.1 download from there and you shouldnt have a problem flashing

thats the problem. open up the safari preferences and on the bottom of general, uncheck automatically open. Then it won't unzip. or just use chrome. re zipping doesn't sign the file, and it won't work

[Q] Flashing Kit Kat 4.4.2 Question

Hello,
I'm on the new side with flashing in such and need to know what file is run in Odin on the PDA line? The videos always show a MD5 file but I don't see one in the zip file I downloaded. How would I go about creating this file type? The remaining steps of the process seen easy.
Thanks, in advance

I'm somewhat confused here. Are you saying that I must install some program in order to make a MD5 file. Maybe it would be easier if I just knew what file to run on the PDA line. Is it the BOOT.IMG file? I would like to run this new KK software.
Thank you!

Okay in this screen shot there's the Odex rom and then the deodexed rom. Last is the firmware.
After you have flashed either one of the Odex or Deodexed roms in Safestrap 3.65 stock slot and remember to wipe the stock slot first.
So after the rom is flashed the don't reboot system but reboot to download mode and open up odin.
Prior to doing all this download the firmware to your computer. Once downloaded extract the the file that shows the as tar. After having odin open click on the PA and put that file in there and let it run its course checking the file. Then when it's done hit start.

Here's a pic off my pc of the file that goes in AP slot for Odin.
Odin will run MD5 check on it automatically and say it's valid. Then from there just have you phone in download mode and hooked up to pc and hit start.
not sure if you have seen this tutorial or not.

[Request] Create G900I Debricking Image (Simple Steps)

Hi Guys, I have a Bricked Galaxy S5 G900I. (No Screen, No Lights. qhsusb_bulk when plugged into PC)
After some research, I found that I need a debrick.img file to revive my phone.
The Debrick.img file is a backup of the Bootloaders (Which are corrupt on my phone).
If anyone has a Rooted S5 G900I with Busybox, Could You please create a Debrick file for me? Instructions Are Below.
In Terminal Emulator (Download From Playstore) Type -
su
busybox dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/200mb.img bs=4096 count=50000
This will create a 200MB image file on the root of your SD Card.
This file only contains the Bootloaders files. No personal/sensitive info, imei etc.
Could you please upload the file to Mega and send me the link.
If you could I'd really appreciate it and it will also help others with bricked S5 G900Is.:good:
Cheers.
Still no luck?
CQD1?
XSA?
I don't own an "I" variant, to my sorrow.
But you may want to try this hand-made unbrick image: G900I_CQD1_Unbrick.zip
It should work if you were on CQD1.

"CQD1?" represents a question about your phone's firmware version before brick.
It should be the same for unbrick image.
"XSA?" represents a question about CSC of your phone because pit-file version may depend on it.

My phone's firmware is 'CPGH'. Does the previous firmware have to be identical to launch download mode from sd card? (then use odin to flash correct bootloader + firmware)

Yes, from what I've heard.
You can try, definitely.
And if you can direct me to CPGH firmware I'll try to make a debrick image from it.

I've attempted to access Download mode using the G900I CQD1 Unbrick Image. No Luck
After more research, I've found that the firmware code(found in CSC) changes with each update and I'm not sure which update is the one before brick(101 diff updates), But I do know that this is a TNZ Region phone which only has 8 diff firmware updates.

Also, after putting sd card in phone, in device manager on pc it has changed from 'qhsusb_bulk' to 'Qualcomm HS-USB qdloader 9008'.
