So I just got this galaxy s5. I've been having problems connecting to the Internet via vpn.
Basically I tried connecting via vpn servers using vpn settings I used without problems on my note 2. However, each time I start up a vpn server, all Internet using services stop working. I can't use Google play anymore, I can't load Internet via any browser anymore, I can't update apps anymore, I can't use Facebook app anymore. It's all dead.
I never had that work my note 2.
Can anyone help me with this?
Just to add to that, the VPN starts up fine. The problem is that there is no Internet traffic.

Hi,
I'm having issues getting Skype to connect using the WiFi on my TyTn. The wireless connects to my work network and a proxy server is required for web access. I think I have these setting configured correctly because Internet Explorer connects to external web pages. Whenever I try to connect using Skype it throws up an error message stating it can't connect to the Internet, Skype works fine over the 3G. Has anyone managed to get skype working over WiFi on the TyTn and if so what settings did you use.
I use skype over wifi no problems. Check your skype settings to make sure that wifi use is selected.
I, however, do not have a proxy set up on my wireless network so you may need to tweak skype's settings to get it to run correctly.
Using the new BETA version but old one worked just as good.
Sorry if it's of no help to you.
S.K.
Hie there, I was wondering if you could email me your 3 uk settings especially the phone band settings. I used to be able to connect to skype and msn but ever since I temperd with the settings it refuses to connect. It connects onto the 3g network though but some how not msn or skype. They both also connect using wifi. Help please!!!

I have a 3 pay as you go sims, could you please send me the 3 settings.
I dunno if will work with pay and go, but I'm on 3 contract and the setting the access name to 3internet allows me to connect to Skype. The standard Skype program won't allow you to use skype on p2g unless you have the internet add on as it would allow voip calls.
I recently purchased the program PDANET from June Fabrics Technology. Using this program, i can tether my laptop to my phone. The problem I run into is when I am tethered, I am unable to access any network shares in my domain. For example, \\Server\ShareDirectory.
I am using Windows Vista Pro and have searched the net and have not found anything than can help me resolve this problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
I guess my first question is: why are you using PDANET with a WM6 device? I just use internet connection sharing and it works great...
but maybe there is some restriction on yours that I don't have?

I tried the Internet connection sharing that is on the new DCD ROM and couldn't get it to work. It connected and appeared to be fine but I couldn't access any web pages. Also, when I use ICS, it disconnects my active sync. With PDANET, I can have both.
Unable to connect to any WAN
To update the issue, I am unable to connect to anything on the WAN. Anything on my local server connects fine.
I think this is a general problem so I'm posting it here.
I have an Omnia II connected with Globe Telecoms in the Philippines. I can surf using HSDPA/3G + Opera Mobile without any problems.
Recently I tried to connect my laptop using Internet Sharing. I connected the phone, ran the app, and nothing happened.
I then installed WMWifiRouter and found out that the problem was the IP address (I am not getting one). I managed to find a workaround: open Opera first, let it connect, then open Internet Sharing. Doing this, I am assigned an IP and can successfully surf.
The question is, does anyone know why I am not getting an IP? Does it have anything to do with the settings or Opera?
There are a number of apps that run as an FTP or HTTP server on your phone (WebSharing being one of them) and you can access your phone as FTP or HTTP server to upload files from your PC to your phone. They all work via WiFi. I had one like that for iPhone it is pretty convenient when you don't have a cable but have access to the same WiFi network that a PC is on and need to transfer a few files.
Long story short I cannot make any of those apps to work on my Vibrant. The PC cannot connect. I suspect the problem is in the phone or some settings. Anyone encountered similar issue?
I've triple checked that the phone and PC on the same WiFi network and same subnet.
using WebSharing on my vibrant from day 1 with no problems... maybe your router or firewall is blocking it.

I use Websharing also. No problems.
this is apparently my network setup, I have two route. And I cannot ping PCs on the same 172.17.1.x network
Hello all. I am wondering if there is any current rom out that has the tethering issue fixed while connected to a vpn.
My setup now is basically stock rooted running a few Xposed modules. Wifi tether works out of the box on the phone (VZW), however when i connect to my vpn the wifi tether doesn't transmit data.
I found a app called TetherNet on the play store, and that fixes the problem. I can tether fine while running my vpn on my phone and all all traffic from devices connected to the mobile hotspot go through the VPN if using the TetherNet app. I am not sure what the TetherNet app does to fix this.
I am curious if there is any rom that has whatever fix the TetherNet app does built in.
Thank you.

Are you trying to use VPN on the device and tether?
Use VPN on the computer and pass through the device.
VPN creates an encrypted tunnel to the VPN host/server.
Tethering shares the connection but not through an encrypted tunnel.
You would need a VPN/Tethering app. Currently they conflict.
I have not seen it every work. I've been tethering and using VPN for years.
If you find something that will let you use VPN on the device and tether, I'd like to know.

I did find an app that works to share the Tunnel through the mobile hotspot and have your traffic from any connected device secure. It's called TetherNet found here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ilmubytes.tethernet&hl=en
I double checked to make sure i was being tunneled. If I am connected to the VPN on my phone and i connect to my hotspot on my PC WITHOUT using TetherNET my traffic is NOT Tunneled. After I hit the Share VPN button on TetherNet app on my phone, when checked my Traffic from the PC is tunneled. So there is a way to do it. For some reason android kills the app after a few hours, looking at how to have android ignore that app now so it is never killed off. Any suggestions on how to keep the app alive permanently?
Also it is somewhat difficult to connect tablets to the mobile hotspot, at first none of my tablets would obtain a IP address, I found a workaround. If I start the mobile Hotspot and then connect a tablet before turning on TetherNet app the tablet connects fine, but the traffic in unsecured and NOT being Tunneled. However once I activate TetherNet app, all connected devices, stay connected and are Tunneled through the VPN.
I currently have about 4 or 5 devices connected to my VPN via mobile hotspot, and my check comes back secure on all of them.
Note: on the play store it says app is not working with cm13 and samsung devices.
