TyTn and Skype - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi,
I'm having issues getting Skype to connect using the WiFi on my TyTn. The wireless connects to my work network and a proxy server is required for web access. I think I have these setting configured correctly because Internet Explorer connects to external web pages. Whenever I try to connect using Skype it throws up an error message stating it can't connect to the Internet, Skype works fine over the 3G. Has anyone managed to get skype working over WiFi on the TyTn and if so what settings did you use.

I use skype over wifi no problems. Check your skype settings to make sure that wifi use is selected.
I, however, do not have a proxy set up on my wireless network so you may need to tweak skype's settings to get it to run correctly.
Using the new BETA version but old one worked just as good.
Sorry if it's of no help to you.
S.K.

Hie there, I was wondering if you could email me your 3 uk settings especially the phone band settings. I used to be able to connect to skype and msn but ever since I temperd with the settings it refuses to connect. It connects onto the 3g network though but some how not msn or skype. They both also connect using wifi. Help please!!!

I have a 3 pay as you go sims, could you please send me the 3 settings.

I dunno if will work with pay and go, but I'm on 3 contract and the setting the access name to 3internet allows me to connect to Skype. The standard Skype program won't allow you to use skype on p2g unless you have the internet add on as it would allow voip calls.

Skype via BT and ActiveSync

Hi, has anyone been able to get Skype working on there XDA via BT and Activesync. Skype installed without and problems and Activesync and my Internet connection work fine over BT. I can logon to Skype on my XDA and see my contacts etc, but as soon as I try and make a call I get an error saying "no proxies found"
I have stopped firewalls etc on my desktop and checked open ports, I could understand if I couldn't logon to my skype account or browse the web from my XDA but I can do both so am unsure why it fails to find the requred proxy servers?
Thanks in advance.

I'm trying the same thing. Worse I do need to use a university proxy.
I can get skype working on my main PC. Another idea I had was to use the Pocket PC as a 'headset' for my PC. i.e. if someone had a program that would allow me to use my XDA2 (=SPV M2000) as a bluetooth headset type device for my laptop (or other phones for that matter).
It would let me use the phone as a headset for the PC
Dial in through skype on the PC, and walk about talking on my pdaphone.
It's not as good as using skype on the mobile. But still it'd be far better than not being able to do it at all.
I'd be using wifi all over the place if GPRS wasn't constantly trying to connect. Also A WEP cracking program would probibly be a great thing (is it true they've switched to another type of encryption now though?)?
Cheers folks.

Forcing an applicaiton to use one specific internet connection?

Hello! I am using a Kaiser running official O2 WM6.1, but I think this is a general WM6.1 question and I hope this is the right section to post this!
How can I force a particular application to always use a specific internet connection even when multiple internet connections are available?
I have a feeling that when both GPRS/3G and WiFi are enabled, WiFi is always preferred - i.e. all applications internet activities would be transmitted over the wifi. Is there any documentation to verify this?
However, in my situation, I have to use the iskoot client to connect to 3 UK network's iskoot server. I think that server only accept communication when it is from its own network. My 3G connection is therefore always on. However, that means when I connect my phone to PC (active sync enabled) or switch on wifi, my iskoot client cannot communicate with the 3 (UK) iskoot server and hence I cannot make skype call or use skype chat, etc.
My general question is are there any setting/tweak/hack that I can use to enforce a program or change their order of preference for which internet connection to use?
In my specific case, I want almost all other programs to use wifi and active sync when available, but only iskoot to always use 3G connection.
Is it possible?
Thanks!

touch HD opera internet connection

I got a unlocked Touch HD. I can turn on WiFi and go on line via Opera. I am currently using ATT. My network connection is Media Net. If I turn off the wifi then, I can not get any sites to open by just using my data plan. Under ADVANCED NETWORK do I need to diasable HSDPA/HSUPA. Can some1 tell me why the intranet does not wot\kr unless I'm using my wifi..
in settings, go to proxy, and try disabeling my connection requires a proxy, it should do the trick
touch HD opera internet connection (reply back)
I double checked and made sure the PROXY SETTING box was not checked and it was not. I still can only access the web via wifi. Any more suggestions.
I would talk to your IT guy, there maybe a reason you can't access the intranet, blocked MAC is one that I use.
block MAC....that's that. I am not trying to use my work site IP for web access. I have a data plan with ATT. The phone will not connect to the web unless i connect by using wifi.
Try start>connections>then connections wizards thing, sorry I got a dutch HD so don't know the english.
Mine was bend on choosing a different ISP than my own, after I use the connections wizard it rerouted my internet through a proper channel and I can access internet through my mobile provider, hope this works for you.

WiFI how to make it

Please don't kill me but I want to know
HOW to make use WiFi instead of network on browsers and mail, once I connect?
once you connect you to a wifi network it should be just like using wifi on your computer.
a more specific question or example may allow someone to help you more.
The phone uses Wifi where possible by default. However as my push mail is running over the Vodafone Internet APN I have found some occasions where my browsing session wasn't using Wifi.
So I created my own homepage which tells me the IP address I'm on and works out if it's my wifi router or the Vodafone Internet. It also has all my bookmarks, which is a better than the built in solution from Opera.
If you aren't using the GPRS all day, try NoData which can block all GPRS usage.

Aha, the old friend from MySymbian
Well I'll try that NoData but good to hear X1 wants to use it by default (when connected). I don't use any push messages.
It's a Vodafone ROM thing. if you flash to another ROM it will work fine.
WiFi problem
No man, I have a Vodafone UK Xperia. problem with Wifi initially, then I've ROM it to the generic UK version...now it connects to Wifi but I cannot browse anything with it. The pages don't load and status keeps saying 'loading...' but nothing happens and after a min or so, a message saying that I have to check my internet connection...not connected!

Then you have your Wifi settings incorrect.
How come u say my Wifi settings are incorrect? How can I correct it? In wat way? my laptop etc connects to the Wifi fine...and the phone as well...but it just that the phone doesnt seem to load anything from internet when I'm connected.
First Check if you used the correct Key for your wifi if thats fine then ....
I've never had this problem with the xperia but I have had with other windows mobile phones it was probable because of older versions of windows mobile, if wifi is connected fine go to Settings -> Connections Tab -> Connections -> Advanced Tab -> Select Networks, then select My Network for both drop downs.

Because you are unable to surf the internet, which points to either the settings entered incorrectly (normally when using WEP) or your router needs a firmware upgrade.
Ok here's a complete answer to my question
HOW to make X1 to connect to WiFi ONLY:
Install NoData (thanks for tip!!!)
Turn this on to NOT transfer any network data.
All the browsers I tried (Opera Mini 4.2, Opera Mobile 9.5)
automatically connect by WiFi, so it's great.
Email NOT. But it's enough to
go to email account settings and in advanced server settings instead of your providers network
choose "The Internet".
Violaa, the email account also connects through WiFi.
Hope that helps somebody
Where do i get no data please
There's one topic here called no data cab file!!
Just find it and it's there!
i got problems with my fritzbox 7270, too.
but i solved it.
just set the 802 adaptor manual to your wifi settings.
free ip adress in your segment, gateway, nameserver.
i think its a dhcp problem, with my 7270.

hotmail connected via cellar not wifi

Hi there,
I have a question about an annoying problem that I've only managed to find one (unanswered) question to on the web.
I am currently using WM6.1 and I use to read email from my Hotmail account, amongst other things. The problem is that the messaging client ALWAYS tries to download my mail via 3G/GPRS even when there's a WiFi connection available. This occurs both when I initiate the send/receive using TouchFlo 3D or from within the mail client.
Connection manager is, as far as I'm aware, configured correctly, and PIE/Opera/weather will all happily use WiFi to connect to the internet, only using my data connection when WiFi isn't available.
The same results occur with connection manager configured in either of the following ways:
Internet Connection = "My ISP" settings with 3G modem connection
Work Connection = Default "My Work Network" settings
WiFi Access Point = Connects to Internet
Network Card = Connects to Internet
OR
Internet Connection = "My Work Network" with 3G modem connection and "This network connects to the internet" enabled
Work Connection = As Internet Connection
WiFi Access Point = Connects to Work
Network Card = Connects to Work
Interestingly, if I disable my data connection and enable WiFi I CAN send/receive mail over the WiFi connection, so it seems like the data connection is being used in preference to the WiFi one.
Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?!
Thanks,
Mike
Known issue and it is a pain as I don't have any mobile coverage in the house but I do have a wifi network but can't sync hotmail through Wifi
Same frustrating issue here. Hate it.
Even tried the modaco nodata hack so that windows live didn't even know that I had data, and with wifi going great it just says there is no connection. Pretty retarded.
yes mines too there should be away to change this Setting.
This is a real pain for sure. But I have experienced that if I turn off the phone copletely and then connect to the internet via WiFi hotmail does sync via the WiFi-connection. Just thought that I would mention this as a possible last resort.
It may also give some ideas to people trying to fix this... shortcoming.
