S4 cannot hear on a phone call after KK update... - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I have a i9505 and downloaded the official kitkat rom when the phone prompted that a update was available. I downloaded via my 4G network/mobile data. Since then whenever i make phone calls or people call me i cannot hear them and they cannot hear me. If i reboot the phone it works right away OK! but after that throughout the day it is problem again.
Now i have rooted my phone and put a custom rom on... Guess what? same problem.
Someone please advise? its obviously a software related problem but how can it be when i have changed the rom completely and rooted the phone???

Can anyone at least point me to a forum that can help with android/ i9505 problems??

Did you perform full wipes/factory reset?
Did you try flashing a different modem?

Tried full factory reset without it being rooted. No joy.
Tried rooting then using different roms AND modems. No joy.
When i call someone, i cannot hear the dial tone on my S4. It connects i still cannot hear anything. The other person who picked up the phone cannot hear me. When i reboot the phone it works right away perfectly fine. But after that its gone again. Im stumped.

What happens if you go to the dialer > menu button > call settings > disable Screen off during calls.
My dad had something simmilair and it was caused by a malfunctioning proximity sensor.

Stops receiving messages and calls?

Hi there,
Sometimes my S4 (GT-I9505) just stops receiving messages and calls (as if it is turned off).
If i check my phone when this occurs i have full signal, and nothing seems to be wrong.
If i disable and reenable wifi and data it usually starts working again.
I've never ran into the issue when calling out or sending a text message.
So it only seems to happen when the phone is not in use.
Anyone have a solution or a suggestion?
It is rooted, and running 4.2.2 (stock samsung rom)
All help will be greatly, appreciated.

Have not enabled blocking mode.
I'm running everything stock except the root so this shouldn't really be necessary(?), but if it can help how would i find one specific to my area?

[GT I9505] Can't Emit/Receive Call

Hi everyone,
first, sorry for my bad english, I live in France.
So, I have some problems with my GT I9505 because I can't emit or receive call since one week maybe more.
I was with the ROM Custom by Jamal (Google Edition 4.4.2) since one month and everything was ok.
But there is one week ago, I couldn't call or receive call !
I try some tips like :
- Format Dalvik Cache
- Format Data/Factory Reset
- Format Cache
Nothing worked. So, I decided to flash the ROM again, nothing working too.
I decided to go with a Stock Rom without root.
I went to : I9505XXUFNB9
I launch the phone and sames problems !! Impossible to call !!
I tried too the sames tips :
- Format Dalvik Cache
- Format Data/Factory Reset
- Format Cache
My MICRO SIM is OK because I tested her in phone's friend (Apple Iphone 4S).
So, I think there is one problem with my phone... I don't know what kind of problem...
But, I can emit and receive SMS and use LTE network.
Thanks you for helping.

The problem is that ur phone is blocked to that company and the latest firmware for it is: I9505XXUEMKF android 4.3. You are having problems coz u flashed a unbranded firmware. We gona try a thing:
1. Go to Settings - Connections - More networks - Mobile network - Network operators.
2. Click and wait till it find Bouygues Telecom. If no, search it automatically or manually
3. I hope this will work for ya. Good luck :highfive:

The battery pulling part can also be replaced by simply pressing Power for 10 seconds. No idea why removing the battery would be necessary.

You could try flashing the stock rom with Odin and factory reset afterwards to see if that fixes the issue.

Check if your sim card is seated properly. If that doesn't fix it try a factory data reset from the settings menu. Still no luck then Odin back to stock NI2. If after that it still isn't working contact Verizon with your stock phone, it may be a problem with your phone or with them.

no good. I bought the phone on Ebay, and it is currently using Page Plus. I tried rooting and flashing a custom rom, to no avail. All features work other than calls. Data and sms wouldnt work if the sim was unseated.

Hi everyone I've been lurking around the forums the past week trying to find a fix to my problem and I just find anything that will fix it. I'm hoping one of you that has a bit more experience with this can help me.
OK so here's my problem
My Samsung galaxy s4 i337m was rooted but I wanted to unroot to update cause I'm new to it and never used my root for anything
I looked around and downloaded a stock ROM and flashed it in with oden and I had no WiFi no sound couldn't make calls no videos so I tried flashing another custom ROM and it let's me use data and text but no calls no video no sound I usually only get 2-3 hours of down time here to look for a fix and I have been all this week but can't seem to work the problem out
Does anyone know how to fix this so I can call my kids again I'm not gonna be homeor anywhere close to a place to get a new phone for another month
And to sweeten the deal I'll send 25$ PayPal to the person that can get this fixed for me
Thanks for your time

1. It's the correct firmware for your device and the latest. Yes. Problem of sound/wifi are related to wrong baseband normally. Reflashing it 2 times solve the problem.

3. You have to install STOCK ROM for dial *#1234# first.
