Hi there, I'm completely new to tablets, but reasonably tech savvy, before my kids arrived I was clocking a64's at - 70C for 3.1 gigs!! I've been snooping about on these forums last week or so, trying to get up to speed. Essentially my wife wanted a tablet for the family, so I got my thinking cap on and did a little research. I hate apple and the whole locked into them forever because you've paid thousands on films and music and apps!!! So I looked for the next best thing, but it HAD to have extendable storage, (sorry google!)
Ended up at the 605 LTE version mainly for the snapdragon chip, which I see having at least some development over next year or two. I live in the UK, there is NO LTE here at all, in fact I think only legit models are 16 gig wifi only.. having heard the lag blah blah, decided I defo wanted LTE model preferably 32 gig due to the new KK situation. Cutting long story short, I have decided to go the grey import route, likely from HongKong, managed to get 32 gig LTE for £353 delivered from amazon, massive price difference to me buying in a legit shop prob saving 40% on likely price when (if ever they actually release the LTE in uk!).
Now I'm aware that KNOX means any rooting is a big no no, but if I've got a HK model then I'm prob screwed on warranty anyways? I found some info from someone else with one of these tablets and they say the 4g isn't working in uk, a quick check on samsungs webby shows it's not even got a modem file for uk? Right, so I saw stocky's mod thread and by all accounts looks great. I also saw he has a seperate modem file will this make the 4g work?
Anyways this was just a little hello thread, you'll prob find me in the noob corner asking stupidly silly questions, but I am a willing student, and sorry if I'm a pain in the butt Can't wait for the note to arrive now, already ordered stuff on the say-so of this board, and that's starting to arrive, the tablet I think is coming long distance but hopefully not too long to wait.. Anyhow, ciao for now, and hopefully I can find a few other brits, I've seen skinhead and a geordie lad around and about, maybe we can start up some help for other nutters who order chinese stuff and try to get it to work in the uk!
Here are the LTE bands the HK N10.1-14 supports...

EE uses 1,800MHz currently but own 800/2,600MHz spectrum and will likely use it at some point. O2 uses 800MHz. Vodafone uses 800MHz and 2,600MHz. 3 uses 800MHz and 1,800MHz. Unless any of them are using splintered sub-frequencies within a specific band an HK N10.1-14 should work fine on UK LTE.
TY for the quick response.. I have flashed bioses (is that even a word?) before on mboards and gcards.. I also used to flash a cableTV decryption box via an rf cable til the dreaded niagra 3 came out!! I only blew up one g card, and that was being rather rude and unlocking all the pipes, ramping the voltage and expecting the cooler to cut it because I had lapped it and used some decent artic silver lol! To be fair it did last near 3hrs on a mad graphics test loop lol!
is there a file that will change the region to BTU? Which is uk i think? Like I said.. apologies for the noob questions. Mind, I'm thinking I'm likely to own this longer than 2 years in which case the warranty is worth diddley anyways, not planning on selling it, it'll prob become kids thingamado once I get a new toy You reckon I just root straight away?
I don't understand all the worries about tripping knox, unless the file you flash causes damage to the hardware, it doesn't void warranty. Rooting on android and even jailbreaking on iphones doesn't void warranty what so ever. Warranty is completely hardware related and when you buy a device, you're in title to put anything you want on it since you own it. I've had hardware issues with my previous phone, a HTC one m7 and although it was rooted, it was repaired no questions asked. My brother had an issue with his screen on a rooted Samsung s4 and again, no questions asked. Just because you choose an alternative software solution on a device you own doesn't mean a company loses its responsibility to ensure your product meets its requirements. I don't know the law in the UK or the US but here in the Netherlands it doesn't work like that.

So I am sitting here with $500 burning a hole in my pocket and nobody on the planet (except the extortionists at ebay) will trade me my money for a new Evo!
Was it really such a shock that the Evo would sell so well or did HTC/Sprint just not care and run their usual production line anyway? It seems like they are losing money as well by falling behind on inventory, so maybe it was a surprise!

So...are you saying that HTC/Sprint purposely limited how many Evos they made the first time around because they knew there were problems?
My argument is not so much that I don't have an Evo, it is more about how few were produced by the release date compared to the demand.

This is very similar to the HTC Incredible through Verizon. It sounds like they just didn't have the production capabilities to fill the needs of two very hot devices. I wouldn't blame it on either Sprint or Verizon, as I'm sure all of them would have been happy to churn customers from other providers to sell new lines.
In the WA state area, they were next to impossible to find within the first month of release. I'd ended up returning the pair I got with my now ex-wife.
I was pretty lucky in getting one less than a week ago from Sprint in Bellevue, WA.

Same thing happened when the HTC Desire first came out. Both carriers and companies that sold unlocked phones were S.O.L. because they ran out of inventory sooner then they had expected.
Sucks dishing out $500+ and being told..."Sorry we are out of stock and you are now #??? and we promise to get you your phone ASAP!"

I have no issued with my Evo. No screen speeration, my screen is properly grounded and I got it at Best Buy.
When you think about it from a business viewpoint. If you release your phone a month prior to your biggest competition who you KNOW will sell out, due to the major changes in the component of the iPhone. Would you rather have your stock during initial release and flood the market? OR would you rather trickle your product into the market and have plenty on hand when your competition is struggling to fill orders?
Bottom line. Find a Sprint Store that handles repairs, they sell a higher volume then regular stores. Get on the waiting list and wait. It sucks, but it is SO worth it. I did and I got my phone surprisingly faster then I expected. I have had it for a full week now and love it.
We don't know exactly WHY Sprint has such a shortage, it COULD be just incompetence but I haven't been with sprint long enough to know. But I do know this phone was worth waiting for.
dam didnt know they would do that!

I suspect that it will be the 9020A that is currently being shipped in Canada.
@Skillz1318: Probably not. It's been my experience that warranties don't carry across the border, even if it's the same product. I'm suspecting that the IMEI's will be registered to a specific country and will only be serviced inside of that country.
Any idea att version work on att media net plan? I will be willing to upgrade to smartphone plan if i getting better speed. I know the phone is only hsdpa. maybe it will get better speed then my n1.

I'm due for an upgrade on July 26th for AT&T, should I jump on this or wait out for the Galaxy S II, I'm leaving for college mid August, and I'd like a new phone before then. I feel that I'd appreciate a 4" screen more than a 4.3", also this phone seems to be more proven than the Galaxy S II (I've learned my lesson from early adoption). The real question is, does the dual core matter for everyday use. I won't play very many games on it, mainly just browsing, gapps, phone use, etc?
I hope it's <$450 off contract :\
Why hasn't this been released months ago?!
It would really be great if the radio was uncapped and the gps performance would work better with the new att version.
I left att for sprint like a week ago.
Does att get 4g

In the same boat as you, friend ... although I'm just a 31 yo tech junkie and have been waiting for months to see a phone worthy if replacing my minuscule AT&T Aria which anything would be better.
I read that only Bestbuy and maybe Costco (the Atrix replacement memo) would be selling on Sunday but in 30 days when gs2 finally launches would it be possible to return the nexus s for the s2 and still get the subsidized price (assuming the Attain is sold there).

Anyone get the AT&T version yet? Looking forward to seeing what radio it's using.
I just picked one up today! Baseband is I9020AUCKE1.
I just picked one up, I was tired of my Nexus One's touchscreen issues.
The radio is baseband I9020AUCKE1.
It's pretty slow on the speedtest.net app. Around 2Mbps down and 500k up.
Even worse today.

how is your GPS performance? I have an unlocked 9020a and the GPS is terrible on it.
Works fine if you are walking outside, but if you're in a moving car, it struggles to keep a lock.
As for your speed, I'm getting similar (sometimes higher) speeds on the download side but about triple on the upload side. The radio may be capped for uploads.
Also, i'm on the KB3 radio from the radio thread in the dev forum.
Any way we can get this radio dumped?

I've started noticing a pattern to the search button problem. For me it rarely happens. I noticed it happening on 2 different occasions when I was in a transitional area that had little to no signal. Someone on here had mentioned that it had to do with the radio that was flashed and when I had the original radio that came with the device (for the first day I had it) it was going crazy all the time.
Once I flashed to KB3, it all but went away except for the 2 occasions that I mentioned above.
I'm interested to see what (if any?) changes were made with the AUCKE1 radio. I wonder how long it will be before someone dumps it.

they need to get their heads out of their asses and start supporting products period. you don't see hard drive manufacturers asking which country your hard drive is in. you send it in for RMA. same with any computer component.
phone manufacturers make this seem like the stone age. if you made my datacenter customers work this hard to return hard drives i think they'd dump you in a heartbeat Samsung.

DO'NT
unless you realy need to do not use giffgaff,if you can stick with 3uk,giffgaff is a cheapo puff service run as a spoiler by o2 to try and remove support from 3uk,so that WE ALL loose the only almost independant provider in uk,3uk have already said they would close down in uk if auction for spectrum is f*cked about again, well anyone know when its going ahead ? no,me neither.
if giffgaff/02 can leech more 3 users away then even more chance that 3 will close down in uk..
leaving US ALL with a choice of / everything everwhere(0range-t-mobile)
O2
vodafone
that will be it,a choice of three,or even less than when idiot money grubbing politicos started ball rolling on making them selves rich by bringing MORE providers 15 years ago supposedly to inject competion, all it does is spread same pot thinner all round.
and we just know what will happen with tariffs and bundles, how many tariffs would you guess that the three of them would provide and of course they wll not use market limitations to push up prices faster same as with gas, electric etc,all trying to sell you EXACTLY the same product(a kwh of leccy is a kwh of leccy wether its come from solar panels, wave power,or the dirtiest old coal plant, they all pay same price to generators (within 3%,look it up) yet there are how many tariffs for leccy in uk ?(answer 4500+)all for EXCACTLY the same thing..a gb of data is a gb of data so why so much difference ?
rant finished, the giffgaff O2 network round here (watford) is hardly any better than 3,and if you stick by gg terms and conditions it actualy works out 50% MORE than same on 3.
so unless you realy have no choice do not use giffgaff, you would just be heping to slit our own throats again.

Hi,
I bought a Galaxy S4 I9505 off some guy on facebook for £300 (cash), he said it was an unwanted upgrade (even showed me the delivery note).
Two days later, yep, you guessed it. It's been reported lost and consequently the imei has been blacklisted.
I feel really stupid for falling for this scam and I have reported him to the fraud team on my local police website. Whether they do anything about it or not is another story.
My question is.. what can I do about it? I have a brand new, shiny £300 paper weight in my top draw!
I was thinking about buying a new logic board and hoping for a new clean imei? Or maybe buy a faulty/damaged i9505 and making a working phone from the pair?
I am not allowed to list it for sale on Swappa and I boycotted fleabay years ago, what are my options for selling abroad?
Should I just throw it? Hand it in to the police? Salvage it? Is it even still feasible to sell it abroad? I heard AT&T were sharing T-mobiles blacklist database to make it worldwide? Is this true?
Thanks in advance for any help, I will certainly learn from this mistake in future.

you should someohow contact the police and if you know the person who sold it you should give the police the numbers, this is really sad that people do this to others. but i'm sure you've heard when its "cheap" and theres no paper that the person has purchased it then you should just leave.
I'm going to report moderators to decide wether this thread should be open or not, but if i was you i would give it in.

Head's up....posts like this will get you uninvited to post on XDA.
We do not advocate changing IMEI's here. And we REALLY don't discuss how to do it. Any talk like this is a HUGE no no.
To the OP, You have a nice Wifi device at least. That's something. It's not like teh device is totally worthless.
You can also sell it on Craigslist as long as you are VERY clear and honest about its' condition. Of course that's a last resort of your local police can't do anything to help.

Best buy is carrying the Exynos processor carrying S7
That's cool for some that want it through best buy but ebay's reputable sellers have the phone for about $60 or so cheaper. Heck for, 20 bucks more than what best buy has, you can get the edge on ebay. Got my edge for $700 when 232tech got their hands on it.

I got my Regular SGS7 from 232tech as well. So International version don't have warranty and Samsung Pay not working ? I'd use Google Pay anyhow but Samsung not working with Exynos units ?

The downside about getting international models is not having warranty. Some do offer it but most dont. I bought a third party warranty so I'm alright.

Right now Samsung Pay only works with US carriers and devices locked to their networks.
According to this, Best Buy is giving a warranty, and it looks like they are funding it with the ridiculously high $710 price for the S7 flat.
I want to get this version from Bestbuy, according to a Samsung representative over the chat, Samsung will provide warranty for 12 months BUT you would have to contact Samsung International (whatever that means.) the other downside is that it seems to be more information about this unlocked version having some network performance issues with TMobile, So I contacted them and without specific details they said that they can't guarantee all their network features to be available in this version... I don't know what to do, I really want a version without bloatware and relatively fast updates but reliable (warranty and network performance) any thoughts ?
I purchased one of these phones from Best Buy in NYC.
When I had an issue I called Samsung for Warranty Support. I was told that they would not support this in the US - that not only would I have to connect with Samsung International but I would have to send the phone - in my case to Australia! - to get local warranty support there.
It sounded like it would be a pretty big deal to get the warranty support under Samsung and I ended up returning the phone. Certainly there are solutions to this through third party warranty and insurance, but people should just be aware that this is a potential issue...
I have Samsung pay working on a UAE firmware.
