I cant't seem to add widgets in secure mode on my s4(I337M). Is there anyway to force a third party widget into the lock screen without root? Thanks!

There is no way of 'forcing' a widget to the lock screen without root. Even the native widgets for the lock screen are limited to the 4 or 5 widgets you can enable/disable.
You might be able to find a theme launcher from the Play Store that can do everything you're looking for.
Here are some suggestions if you need them:
Nova Launcher
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher&hl=en
Apex Launcher
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.launcher&hl=en
Holo Locker
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobint.locker&hl=en
From the launchers, you can search additional themes that may better fit yours needs/wants.
Hope this helps!

Well, when you root your device, there are many ways you can accomplish geting custom widgets and application launchers onto your lock screen. When you root your device with an unlocked bootloader, you can flash a custom ROM with lock screen customization. If you are using a device that HAS a locked bootloader, such as the Verizon or AT&T S4 on MF3 - you can still root your device, install SuperSU and install custom APK's that will give you what you're looking for.
Use this link for rooting on MF3:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387577
Use this link for rooting on unlocked bootloaders:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40747604
Judging that we're in the AT&T section I would assume you need the first link, but you could've found this via Search.
Hope this helps!

There's no way to put widgets on the lock screen while in secure mode. However you can still have widgets on your lock screen just when you get a PW lock then it isn't usable. Say that your doing something on your phone and you sleep it really quick and say you have the camera on the lock screen you wake the phone back up to take a picture just as long as it doesn't sleep too long and secure lock it you'll have the widgets there.

Maybe a few of you have recognized that Screen Mirroring is not working on modified Samsung stock roms when you are rooted, or have an otherwise "modified system" status.
This is due to a restriction of Samsung, which is coded into the file /system/lib/libWFD_ENGINE.so
There are a few threads regarding this, unfortunately I did not find a patched file for our Note3 on the latest 4.4.2 stock roms...
See here for reference:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2556527
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2421642
So there have been successful attempts to port this for some devices as you can see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542509
A guide how to do it is for example here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551086
Does someone of you have already a patched libWFD_ENGINE.so?
If not, I will try to do it for myself and share it here, but I would prefer if a more experienced developer could do this, it would do us a big favor!
Regards,
Markus
UPDATE:
edit: tried to start for myself, but there is no such file existing on latest stock 4.4.2...
this is not good, as this would mean that this attempt would not work!
does anyone know in which file the restriction is now?
UPDATE 15.07.2014:
here seems to be a proper solution:

there would be no simple answer,
either someone has already patched the file and would like to share,
or we would have to try for ourselves to patch the file according to the
existing posts...

yes, status change and root cloak do not do the trick!
so there must be again some coding which prevents us (rooted users) from using screen mirroring on 4.4.2!
what wonders me:
why does this not bother more users? for me this is a major flaw, because i want to use screen mirroring AND of course root!
so please, if anybody has an idea please let us know!
It has nothing to do with root... cause on the stock kernel and 4.4.2 screen mirroring works... also with root

I just thought it didn't support screen mirroring to the devices I have (Apple TV, Chromecast). I have All cast installed. Should I be able to mirror my screen?
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
i also have the same problem with screen mirroring. with 4.3 it works perfect, but with 4.4 it is not possible.
i used the original firmware including root, or different custom firmwares. it connects for 1 second and abort after this.
also i used the stock kernel, that changes nothing.
it is possible to connect to chromcast or also DLNA Mode, but miracast on an wifi stick ist not working.
hope this will be possible, because it is also a main feature for me.
On a Samsung smart TV it works flawlessly with stock kernel

i used the CloudnetGO CR-M200S, here it doesn´t work. on an samsung s3 with an custom firmware 4.4 i can connect...with the note3 not
also with the s4 it works.
still no answer............

even i change Stock Kernels.....still not work
I see no valid reason why it should not support.... the fix specified in the title of the thread could work on 4.3 i did not have the chance to try and it did work on other phones like galaxy s4, its simply a process or something that is denying the connection...
What i did is, i super wiped my phone to factory default and wipe scripts and i flashed stock rom, kernel and recovery 4.4.2 on my SM-N900, since i own a rather expensive new Samsung smart TV i wanted the "privilege" to at least see the feature before i decide if i can live without it....
Setting aside for a moment my bilnd anger for paying top dollar for top of the range appliances by samsung only to loose many features when trying to have the phone suit my needs far far better then sammy did OOB.
So i Flashed the stock.. everything and i finally got it to work after being rooted...
I am now rooted once more and even though i still want the function to work rooted (because perhaps then it can be tweaked to work better then close to crap)
i can say that it aint a big miss in its current state.. in the basic function the image is delayed by about avg of 400 ms making games unplayable. perhaps closing any other source of wi-fi (since it connects through wifi direct if im not mistaking) can push it to 300 ms delay to 250ms but nothing lower, adding to that a small delay in input from a sixaxis controller and you surely cannot play a game of any kind exept if you want unmerited added challenge or simply love frustration... as for browsing or any other function, its nice but if you have a smart tv its quit useless.
i cannot fathom why Airplay mirroring works so well and i mean very very well.. once you figure out how to optimize it on the network.. there are moments that its flawless (even more on the apps that have the same function such as airserver and reflector) My HTC one also will not connect to the TV via miracast even though i know it can, i did not delve in to the issue since i have the HTC Media Link H200 HD. which also connects through p2p wifi of sort.... and works again almost as good as airplay but more hiccups. i havent tried any other dongle yet but i love the concept of the feature and think that we are headed to screen mirroring being heavily used in coming times.
but from what i tested allshare cast with SM-n900 to smart tv (samsung series 8) works very poorly, i am still searching the web and codes and info to try and understand why because i would love to get it working and maybe even tweaked.
and BTW Samsung Smartview app that is used as a tv remote that allows you to watch the tv and control it from your phone remotely does not work when custom code is used..
P.S
when i got it working. i changed back 1 thing at a time. first custom recovery.... then tried after that root... then tried and so on....
once i flashed the custom recovery, still did nothing with it and only flashed the recovery image even without entering it.. broke the function
Any update?
Not connected with routing, but since 4.4.2 I had two issues:-
1) It would try to connect and then just give up. To fix this I held the Dongle-12345 link down until it says "Connect with pin". This allowed me to connect but lead to problem 2
2) All I got was a blank screen. it seems to make the AllShare Cast Hub go into 1080p/30 !! This is an unusual (but valid) mode that not all TVs support. On my Panasonic TV I get a blank screen but on another TV it works. It seems to totally disregard the TV capability with LF21 or LJ02 firmware and I cannot try anything newer because the firmware updater has been withdrawn by Samsung
Not very impressed!

Greetings,
Yesterday I decided to root my Note 3 (sm-n900) mainly to remove samsung's bloatware and install afwall.
Just after I rooted my phone with Odin + "CF-Auto-Root-ha3g-ha3gxx-smn900" and went for the first reboot, I noticed that my phone wouldn't boot anymore. After some hair pulling, I decided to wipe the device and after that it booted fine.
Finally I managed to remove %[email protected]! Flipboard and My magazine (a lot of crashes with sms and regular email, but worth removing!). Total happiness and a faster phone!
When I tried to enable encryption on the device, the phone just crashed again (with the same droid logo that appeared on the boot before the wipe). I came here and found some other users talking about rooting + encryption with sm-n900 saying that it's not working. (some reported that kingo method would work, but I really don't feel comfortable with king).
Now I'm downloading the stock rom, and planning to flash the note3 back to original since I have the recipe for T virus on my phone and couldn't allow it to fall on wrong hands
Is this a bug on cf-auto-root or encryption doesn't work with rooting at all? If it's a bug, any ideas of when a fix should be around?
Thanks!
Hi eduardogsilva,
I don't know your device, but I encountered a problem activating encryption on a rooted SM-P900. I'm not sure, but I think it's a general problem with Samsung KitKat devices. I described, how I got it solved for my device here. If you still have issues, please have a look at my thread and let me know, if it works for you...
Cheers!

Hello radicalisto, following the guide that bruzzy wrote, I managed to activate the encryption on a rooted note3.
So I guess that it should be fine now... Or is there any other issues besides activating encryption?
thanks

It'll work, just not 100% - don't be surprised if one day it freaks out on you and doesn't let you unlock it. Happens sometimes, Although, it may be that it'll stay fine for you (luck of the draw) - with root being an exploit, the system is designed to look out for changes and freak out if it spots them.

Well, the important information that I have on my mobile is in sync, the only bad thing would be reinstalling and reconfiguring everything again, so not a big problem in loosing my phone data.
I would love to use a custom rom and completely say goodbye to touchwiz and to the huge bloatware that comes with my phone, but unfortunately, CM for note3 exynos is not available yet.
thanks
This isn't my first time rooting my Android device, I have done it multiple times and I know what to expect and what not to. I recently rooted my S7 Edge Tmo Nougat and I am having problems with the fingerprint sensor. It simply won't work and says there's been an error in the fingerprint sensor. I tried wiping the cache partition and I got not luck. Second of all, I knew this before I rooted, but is there anyway at all for me to be able to use Android Pay or Samsung pay again after rooting? It's probably impossible and I was expecting that, but I thought I ask anyway in case there's a way I haven't heard of. Obviously, Xposed and RootCloak isn't an option seeing how there isn't Xposed for Nougat yet.
Any help with my problems is highly appreciated. Thanks a lot guys.

Lmao what. Care to clarify, please? I am not sure I understand.
Bumping this. I only need help with getting my fingerprint to work now. I was able to get AndroidPay to work by disabling super user in SuperSU before using it. Only AndroidPay though, not Samsung pay.
Try jrkruse root.bat Part of the script has fingerprint fix your able to choose from.
As you can see by the title, whenever I try to open Android Pay it states that i have made modifications to the device and I cant use Android Pay, however I haven't even tried to root, because I dont want to trip Samsung Knox. Other apps that check for root and Samsung Knox work fine, like my banking app and samsung pay. I installed substratum while I was on android 7.0, but since then updated to the android 8 beta, could this be why I'm experiencing this problem?
Have the same problem.oficial Oreo is CRAP!
You got oreo over the air or did you use twrp?
Is your OEM unlock turned off? Ive seen people say this has caused some issues for some.
Other than that have you tried a factory reset?
Yes,over the air. I back to android 7.0 android still no certyfikacion.
