So, I'm thinking of rooting my S6 (G920T), but I completely forgot about my Huawei Watch. I was wondering if Android Wear would connect normally and function normally with a rooted phone, or even with a custom ROM.
The ROM I want to install is just a Note7 port for the S6, named The Griffin (I think.)
I can't speak for custom ROMs, but every Android Wear watch I've had has worked with every stock rooted Android phone I've had.

Yes, I'm on Android Wear 2.0 DP4, but I never had any problems with previous release versions either.

So, should I risk rooting my S6? I will use KingRoot. I have a Mac so I can't do much in there.

That's totally up to you. I haven't owned a Samsung phone since they introduced KNOX that gets permanently tripped when you root. If that doesn't bother you and you're comfortable with the process, go for it!

Yes it's the Samsung security system. You need to know about that before your root your phone, so go to your S6 forums and read up on it. Since Android Wear watches work with rooted phones, you should have been reading and posting there in the first place.

Alright. I know what KNOX is now, I don't mind tripping it since my warranty expired a few days ago.
Hello, I just installed TRWP and custom firmware, so my knox obviously is broken. I was wondering is there a way to make samsung pay work yet? Or maybe Android pay? I really liked nfc payments.
If you have a gear watch you may be able to sideload an older version of SPay onto each and have a working SPay on your watch.
Not sure if that technique works for this device or only non Samsung devices though...
But otherwise, no you won't have working SPay on your 0x1 device. Android Pay probably, yes.

The way Android Pay works is by using a check called SafetyNet. Magisk fools the system with root by being a systemless root so nothing is tampered with, and in a nutshell, SafetyNet passes its checks and such Android Pay works.
Samsung Pay uses a different set of checks which fail majority of the time. There's been a few instances where people have been able to use Samsung Pay with the use of Magisk but is patched rather quickly.

Samsung Pay stores info in KNOX, so blowing your e-fuse kills Samsung Pay for the life of the device. Doubt there's a way around it.

I know this is an old thread but don't want to start a new just for an update.
Still not possible to get it to work with a rooted tripped phone?
Coming from nexus, first thing I did was root and make a nandroid...
Also flashing stock and locking doesn't revert this? How does this fuse work? Is it hardware or how come you can't just flash the original?

It's a fuse located on mainboard which is being "blown" after unlocking the bootloader / rooting. So there's no way to revert this unless you change the mobo on it.... Which I doubt ?
With Magisk, Android Pay is working flawlessly. I'm using it all the time on Note8 port.

Nope and never will work. It's a hardware efuse on the main board of the phone. It's literally trips and burns out. You can't flash stock or anything to revert it.
The only way you can revert it is to buy a new motherboard.

You can use samsung pay on your gear s3 on a rooted phone by hiding samsung pay (gear) in magiskhide and setting it up like normal, make sure you pass safetynet

Unfortunately, once you rooted your Sammy device you can't get features such as Samsung Pay back due to the blown e-fuse. However, rooting with Magisk will let you use Google Pay. I've been using it basically every day for the past 6 months and not once have I missed Samsung Pay. If by any chance your phone doesn't pass the SafetyNet check there is always modules such as MagiskHide Props Config which will let you change your fingerprint to a certified one, therefore passing the SafetyNet check.
This isn't my first time rooting my Android device, I have done it multiple times and I know what to expect and what not to. I recently rooted my S7 Edge Tmo Nougat and I am having problems with the fingerprint sensor. It simply won't work and says there's been an error in the fingerprint sensor. I tried wiping the cache partition and I got not luck. Second of all, I knew this before I rooted, but is there anyway at all for me to be able to use Android Pay or Samsung pay again after rooting? It's probably impossible and I was expecting that, but I thought I ask anyway in case there's a way I haven't heard of. Obviously, Xposed and RootCloak isn't an option seeing how there isn't Xposed for Nougat yet.
Any help with my problems is highly appreciated. Thanks a lot guys.

Lmao what. Care to clarify, please? I am not sure I understand.
Bumping this. I only need help with getting my fingerprint to work now. I was able to get AndroidPay to work by disabling super user in SuperSU before using it. Only AndroidPay though, not Samsung pay.
Try jrkruse root.bat Part of the script has fingerprint fix your able to choose from.
i have previously rooted my S7 Edge, but I am now looking to sell it, so I already put it back to factory settings and stock rom, Now when I try to open Samsung pay it says unauthorized modifications have been made to my device so it cant use Samsung pay. Is there a way to fix this and keep the phone on a stock rom?
No currently known method. You have irreversibly tripped your Knox e fuse by rooting it. Rendering Samsung pay permanently disabled.
Maybe you can sell it as rooted? Not sure how the second hand market for phones work, but maybe more desirable to some?
I won't ever use Samsung Pay. But Samsung's ridiculous insistence of permanently marking a phone that has had any form of customisation (remember, more than just rooting trips Knox) and then disabling a service they offer as a result, even if you take that phone completely back to stock, is precisely why my S7E is the last from them I'll buy.
F**k them, in short.
i thought if you just reflash it with the original firmware through odin, you'll be able to use it back. I did it with my rooted verizon s7edge, then reflash it with u firmware and i can just use samsung pay normally.
You're mistaken. If you rooted your phone, you tripped Knox, which on this architecture is an efuse that you can't rectify. This will stop Samsung Pay working indefinitely no matter what ROM you run, stock or otherwise.

then my phone, however unlikely it seemed, must have not understood it correctly that it must function that way. Because between august and now, I rooted my G935V, then I reflash G935U firmware through ODIN and rooted the phone again, and I ended up going back to using it without root. I still can use samsung pay in the device. Swearsies realsies. Although I dont have that level of faith and certainty to break knox in my G955U.
As far as I know, there are root methods that does not trip Knox eFuse, what, for sure, will trip Knox eFuse is installing unofficial ROMs.

True. I did the same. The first thing i did was root my S7 edge. But i didnt like it (too much lag) and went back to stock(odin). After that, everything is working Including Samsung Pay.I dont know why people are saying that you cant use Samsung Pay after odin the stock firmware.

If I have to guess, this may have something to do with SD vs Exynos, because my snapdragon Verizon s7edge able to use spay after reflashing it to U firmware via ODIN. However, when I re-flash my s8 exynos with odin to some unlocked firmware, it recognize that I have tripped knox and voided my warranty. Although this one had TWRP and unlocked bootloader.
I just rooted my s7 Edge SM-G935F to load the Oreo Rom posted this week. After getting the poor Wifi I re-flashed it back to stock and was surprised (yes I know - I should have read first) that S-Health and Samsung Pay refused to work.
Bit of a pain as I have a Gear S3 also, which has lost functionality.
But, I have reflashed several times since, trying to get everything back to stock, including restoring from a Samsung Switch backup.
I have no idea what I did, but after one of the flash processes, Samsung Pay started working fine - I added my cards etc. no problem. As S-Health wasnt working, I tried to edit the system files to fix that...
And ended up doing another flash and Samsung Pay is broken again.
So there is something that allows Samsung Pay to work after Knox has been tripped. Unfortunately, I cannot replicate it again, so it may just be a random bug.
Samsung Pay and S Health not working after rooting.
Once you modify your S7 Edge and trigger knox you cannot use Samsung Pay again, even if you re-flash stock firmware. But S Health you can but you have to flash Marshmallow 6.0 firmware and set your phone up from start and update all your apps and then open S Health and set it all up. Then just go to software update settings OTA ( Over the Air ) and update your phone to the latest firmware Nougat 7.0 and when your phone restarts after updating automatically go to S Health and it'll work. There may be a simpler way of doing it but thats how I did it after stupidly rooting my S7 Edge SM-G935F Exynos European unlocked BTU firmware.
You can use shealth by just editing a line in build.prop but not samsung pay.
i try any way for worked s-health but heartrate sensor dont work any more after rooting...how can fix this sensor worked again ?
But does not work at all? I would like to root my Exynos S8 but I like the loyalty card feature because the ability to use it even in old barcode scanners, I can't find any other app that can use the IR blaster for doing that.
It's the only feature that I wouldn't want to lose... As I pay with my bank app that can work with Magisk Hide.

this is incorrect. i have a galaxy A8 (2018) and i tripped knox on it about 5 months ago and have not been able to use samsung health, but have used samsung pay just fine. I got tired of the inability to use sammy health and decided to flash twrp and magisk to block ads (since i wasnt getting the benefit of not being rooted) and lost use of samsung pay. I am going to do the process mentioned below and see what it yields.

i hope this is the fly in the ointment. Knox isnt the issue, its something else that has yet to be discovered. As stated above, my knox has been tripped for quite some time and sammy pay worked without issue. My issue only surfaced after flashing twrp and magisk
following up on the issue of tripping knox causing samsung pay to not work. Ive been back on stock firmware, unrooted with knox DEFINITELY tripped for the last few weeks, and i can happily report that it works fine both on the phone and my Gear S3 Frontier. Knox is NOT the culprit

The trick was to one more time show OEM unlock option and then disable it on stock rom.
Android Pay started to work

Okay so I rooted my s8+ a few months ago and I decided yesterday that I want to unroot so I flashed a stock firmware. I found on updato the version which I believed would be mine (SM-G955F, XEU version) as I purchased my s8+ in the UK unlocked. Anyway it all flashed fine but my device recognises the firmware as official but many apps (natwest, barclaycard, android pay Samsung pay) still say that it is rooted, unlocked bootloader etc. I disabled OEM but there is still no effect. Is there a way I can make my device recognise itself as genuine and not rooted etc without having to actually root it as some apps still do not work after rooting with magisk and twrp even though android pay does? Also now there are apps which I can not download from the app store such as netflix. PLEASE HELLP!! Its driving me insane, I just want everything back to normal as if I just purchased my s8+ brand new and have no modifications. (this is the last time I'm rooting a phone)

I had the same problem with my s7. I formatted the entire phone then flashed twrp then reinstalled stock android. That did the trick
I just realized my issue, I need to go into developer options and turn off OEM unlocking and restart my device, after my Google Pay is working again.

I don't know from the one never had the issue
I had the problem after flashing the newest stock ROM to my phone as well.
OEM Unlock was on, I disabled it, but it still would not work. Then I cleared all data for Google Pay (Settings -> Apps -> Google Pay -> Storage -> Clear data)
After that I was able to set up Google Pay with no further errors. Hope I can help someone with the same problem.
One's you root your device you never use Samsung pay service again thats for sure because same problem with my Samsung note5 so you decided you want root or Samsung pay?? so i decide i never root my s8 because Samsung pay service is very eye catching service not loose my sam pay service.?
