[Q] stock or custom rom? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use custom kernel, updated gpu drivers and stock rom.. i use art
would installing pa with the same custom kernel improve performance or would it be the same with features?

I don't think that flashing Paranoid Android would drastically inhance the performance of your N4, but I experienced that the system runs really smooth and I haven't had any lag since I flashed the rom. The great advantage of Paranoid Android are the added features like hover. If you really want a good overall performance you should use franco.kernel.

Whats the best custom stock rom out there ? I9300

Love the stock rom feature set, tried out jellybean the only thing i can see thats better on that rom is the smoothness its no where near as feature rich as the stock rom.
currently using XXLG8 stock rom can anyone tell me what the best stock custom rom there is out there as i would rather use the stock rom with all its features than jb with smoothness but without features and broken camera and camcorder that cant do 1080p.

you can choose themes or stick it out with the stock!
Farewell thread
Closed, no such thing as a "best" rom

Too soon?

So what's the best ROM? I know I know, "try for yourself" will be the first answer, but I just wanted to see who's the ppls champ

Hi,
Today I tested :
- CM10 Nightly
- MIUI
- Stock with custom kernel
I didn't find any bug in those three version. I wouldn't say one is better then the other, they are just likely different.
- MIUI : As a really beautiful interface, it is a little closer to iOS but far from looking like it. Try to get picture
- CM10 Based on Stock and looks just like the stock version but has extra features + supports themes
- Stock well the original rom but I use a custom kernel to overclock my cpu to 1.8 Ghz
For now I will stay with Stock + Custom Kernel
I hope it answer your questions

Have you guys tried AOKP build 1? I have it and the nexus 7 flies
I am also using faux's 008m kernel
I have always loved AOKP for its customisation and tweaks Its what got me off CM and onto AOKP

Wow didnt know there was a MIUI build for this....gonna have to check that out...gonna steer clear of the kernel until i observe the long term effects of overclocking a quad-core device...but thanks

I tried build 1 on my galaxy nexus and its not bad but still missing lots of features of the old ics aokp. Im running paranoid right now on both devices and it has loads of features like the ics aokp. Its been very stable so far. I really like the ability to use tablet mode for certain apps.

[Q] Optimised stock rom

Hi guys, do you know any optimised stock ROM? I'm looking for one that is speedy but totally stock, dies it exist? Remember, FULL stock
try to install dalvic and bionic patch from :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546120
it optimize your ram memory on stock rom. i don't know any optimized stock rom but you can also "built" your own rom applying some patches. i also use stock rom withe bionic and dalvic patch and xposed framework to get some features i like from others custom roms
Of course it doesn't exist
If it was optimized, it wouldn't be fully stock.
Fully stock is the factory images / what comes on the phone.
Xposed framework and Gravity is what you are looking for regarding changing many options in appearance.
But It needs root.
Alternative for speed, you could change phone state into ART mode, with only a small disadvantage that some few applications are not compatible.
Unleashed by my Nexus 4
Install the dalvik/bionic patch and a custom kernel. Not much else you can do to speed things up under the hood.

[Q] Deciding between a few Lollipop ROMs. Suggestions / user experience?

Currently running CM12, but I've been thinking between XenonHD, RastaPop, Euphoria OS, Terminus and LiquidSmooth.
Any experience about these ROMs? Most of these seem pretty same if you look at the features. But does some of these stand out?
Just start flashing and find out what you like the best.
sent with my Nexus 4.
As much as I hate CM I quite like the xenon.
Very stable and doesn't require too much micro management.
Well I had to install better battery stats but my battery problems might be down to a dodgy app.
I haven't tried them all but so far my favorite is my setup now...boostpop 2.7 with Franco sabermod kernel, overclocked to 1.7ghz max 192mhz minimum. Rro layers running giving the black look I liked on slimkat. It's as fast as I've ever felt this phone.
I've tried liquidsmooth v4 and a recent paranoid android and cm12 I think. Those are the only recent LP ROMs I've tried.

Frank Rom and Rastapop both great 5'0'2 Roms with all latest optimizations like RRO etc

[HELP] Which ROM is fast and stable with good battery life and most closest to stock?

Hi just want to know which rom is fast and have a good battery life and closest to stock with stock kernel also what do you recommend me?
Depends on the S5 model. There are over 40 variants.

Flash stock rom, root, flash custom recovery, remove bloats using titanium backup, flash custom kernel beofella done best stock rom for me lol...
Phoenix rom i guess
I second that. Stock Marshmallow is excellent once you remove the bloatware.
If you want to make it even better I recommend Boeffla Kernel (boeffla.de) – ATTENTION IT IS JUST FOR G900F! It has a very easy to use configuration app and ready-made profiles for battery saving, undervolting etc. Just remember to take it easy when undervolting, start small with -25mV, run the Stability Test app a few minutes, see how it goes. Usually -25mV should be more than enough. In fact I'm using one of the Boeffla profiles that does exactly that, -25mV on the voltage and limit the frequency to 1.7GHz and I was getting 0.2% battery/hour in idle. (On a fresh install without any apps yet, granted, lol.)
based on stock mm, great bat life, imo try SUPERLite MiNi MM *361mb*
